How can we save this game?

Well now that you mention options, there is no control over specific areas of volume for the game. That I didn't like one bit, and had to refer to subtitles. I wonder how they didn't see (or consider) that.

i ment gametypes not enough custumazation in forge so if we didn't like luck based infinity slayer we could play old classic but you can't even get rid of instant respawn unless its objective.

Okay.. This is irritating, and I notice something.

Everyone is focused on multiplayer.

Halo 4 is fine. For their first game ever, this was a GOOD GAME. A REALLY good game. You all should be happy that they kept Master Chief! The fact that Microsoft brought a brand new company in on a great, but dying series and made it feel like HALO is awesome. Halo Reached killed things a bit, but Halo 4 actually FEELS like another Halo game, not a bad remake. Sure it has a few issues, particularly with the love scene ending to the campaign, but honestly this feels like a damn Halo game to me. There aren't any extreme changes, they've made the armor abilities a LOT better, the load outs feel good and I'm happy with it, and the armor is cool. Honestly the multiplayer isn't too bad. It does seem to copy some features of CoD(But I am SO sick of that argument. CoD copied it's features from other things too), such as the Killcam (Which I hate with all my heart) and a few other things, but really the game is doing GOOD. The game isn't dying. It's in development. 343 will be releasing updates and hopefully adding and changing things based on the community's input. They're already adding game modes based on feed back.

And I'm sure that in Halo 5 they will change things and make the game 10x better. 343 obviously WANTS Halo to be good. But they've got a big roll to fill. We have huge expectations. Sure they made a few mistakes with Multiplayer, but don't just focus on THAT. Spartan Ops is pretty ******* cool, particularly with it's own story line, and the campaign is really neat. The exp/Spartan Points can be a little irritating as you hit a dead brick wall at rank 20, but really by the time I hit that I was happy with my equipment. Still working to Rank 21.

Halo just feels like Halo again and I'm just happy as all **** that its getting it's legs again. I'm truly anticipating updates, DLC, and additions to Spartan Ops, and a mentioned Elite Ops.

Basically, TL;DR... Quit your bitching, it's Halo and the developers are new. The game feels like Halo. I call that a pretty good win.

the campaign was amazing untill the end... Spartan ops is horrible i don't enjoy cut out maps of the campaign and just add 100 emenies and call that a story no thanks. 343 had ex bungie staff also and were given a BLANK paycheck from microsoft to make the supposed Number 1 xbox franchise of all time. It's not hard for 343 to go back and play halo 1 2 or 3 and understand how to develop. Its upseting to have to wait 6-7 months after launch just for playlist that should have came out day 1 or 4 months for a working file share. come on... I could do better.

Then obviously you haven't actually PLAYED Spartan Ops. Yes there are a number of cut outs from the campaign, but there are also a good number of unique and special maps, and even more with the new season coming out. I checked myself. Not to mention that there are actual reasons for going back to old maps, and they're also played from different angles with bits and pieces added or removed to make it fairly unique from last time.

Now, don't get me wrong, I AM a little tired of the copy/paste maps, but I think that they pulled it off reasonably well. You, on the other hand, obviously played the first three maps and quit. There is actually a fairly interesting story, if you'd give enough time to actually play the damn series.

And again, 343 is still new to this. You can't expect a perfect game, even with ex Bungie staff helping them work on it. There is going to be a few kinks. Give it time and have some god forsaken patience.

i didn't exspect a perfect game i exspected a game that catered to all types of players Not that hard. Um i've played the entire first season of spartan ops haven't bothered to download season 2. 4 players is always laggy framerate. every map is basicaly the same as a campaign one. If they can dish out new maps i've never seen and not change a few things on 1 map and call it new then that would be ok. but for now I don't enjoy going to a map listening to 5minutes of story killing 100 emenies then going onto the next I'd rather have fire fight. or w/e its called.

Restore power to Bungie...

343 cannot make games.

343 have officially screwed up the franchise's reputation.

Bungie should make Halo 5 go live...

This is why I'm rapidly losing faith in these forums.

I've been here for three days and the only thing that I've seen you people do is ***** and whine about how 343 screwed up Halo. All you are doing is focusing on the bad stuff. Honestly multiplayer isn't broken. Its just missing a feature or two. Yeah it isn't that competitive, but really? You're not going to get everything you want in a new game with a new company. Just get over it.

I'm just going to stop coming here entirely. I'm tired of hearing everyone whine and ***** over nothing.

Then leave...

I respect your opinion but you honestly should take another look at the game itself.

343 have focused too much on things like graphics which have reduced the actual quality of the game itself.

It would be better if they actually fixed bugs such as the famous Boltshot...

The spawning on War Games actually seems too be bad intentionally!

Spartan Ops is the best thing in it but still falls short of expectations such as driving vehicles like Pelicans...

On a side note please refrain from cussing on this forum!

The negativity is even tougher to take when you can't find much other than that within your own feelings about the game.

More directly I'm sorry you don't like how negative we are, however not everyone is as happy with this game as you are and we cling to some hope that voicing our concerns will get them heard in one way or another and bring about change. We're not whining over nothing, we're angry about serious problems with the game. If you don't agree about what is a problem and what is not that's your right, but I think you'll find Halo 4 is a polarizing game.

When I came here I think I originally came with a single complaint, something like how ridiculous the idea of a 5-shot BR is or "how could anyone be so stupid as to put a Gauss Warthog on ONE side of a two-sided map?!?"

Next I found myself defending the game against all kinds of assaults (This happened with Reach too, I was mad about something, wanted to voice my complaint, and was very frustrated to find myself defending the game more often than I could attack it. That sounds silly but when you come to accomplish one thing and then spend all your time doing the opposite it feels strange.)

In all the time I would spot things other people said and perhaps I'd agree or perhaps not, but slowly I started becoming more and more educated about the game. For example I felt like it was taking my shields longer to recharge in Halo 4 but I hadn't timed it and I didn't want to make unbacked claims.

As I became more educated I found myself more and more attacking the game, because as I've come to understand their design I realize just how far they went in the wrong direction with this game. The result of my research, many hours of gameplay and many of forum time as well as looking things up online when needed, is that I have become so frustrated and exhausted with the problems of this game I just don't have a lot of nice things left to say. I like the Mantis, the Sticky Detonator, Promethean Vision, Prometheans, and a few other things.

The amount of things they did wrong with this game has so vastly outweighed the things they did right that I find myself angry and nothing else. Even the lists for good and bad had similar quantities the bad things have so much more impact on gameplay it's hard to stand, things like 6 second shield recharge delay are serious degradations on the Halo gameplay model.

People like me aren't here just to whine because we like it though, do you think I'd be on a forum if I was having a good time playing the game? I want to have a good time playing this game, I want it to be a good game, it's just not. I therefore spend my energy trying to make it better. Pointless as that is turning out to be, all my friends who play any multiplayer games play this game, so I can either play a bad game or play by myself. I would rather play a bad game with friends than play a good game by myself, so I'm here and on halowaypoint trying to make the game better.

Please do not leave, I ask that you stick around and give the forum another chance. Spread the good things about Halo 4 around. Try to improve the negativity. The forum could use it. I am sorry you feel this way about the forum, but I do hope you stay and make an effort to expose the good in the game.

Please do not tell a member to leave. That is not something the forum is about. He has a different opinion which is completely fine.. but don't tell him to leave even if he says he might. I would get tired too if someone kept pointing out the bad I have done. Listen to what he just said, he wants the good in the game to be noticed.. which is awesome! Pointing out the good is way better than focusing on the bad.

Please explain how it's luck based.

1. Instant respawn with this if you can not finsh your kill you can easily spawn behind them and finsh it very Luck based If you have played other halo titles this never happened.

2. Ordance drops. Its all random. I ussualy seem to get needles speed nades While the other guy has a sniper in his hand and easyly takes me out. It was Luck he got that weapon.

Think of a game tie 59-59 Your staying back waiting for the emeny to mess up and suddenly Rockets spawns in front of them they pick it up and come finsh the job that is LUCK based.

these random and luck based elements just ruin the game This is why they needed a competitive and social playlist from the get go. if you wanna play to play and love Luckbased random fun you got your infinity, if you want to tryhard call out and enjoy none of that randomness you had your competitive. But Nope we are month 5 and no competitive playlist it is very frustrating to be forced to wait for a playlist that should came out day 1 wouldn't you agree?

Please explain how it's luck based.

I'll add to Tornado's list:

3. Any time you speed up kill times you increase the influence of luck. This happens because position becomes more important the faster you can kill someone, so if you are looking one way when someone spots you getting the first shot suddenly matters much more. SWAT is more luck-based for this reason and always has been. It's one of those things people don't think about much but it makes a lot of sense once you do think about it, the less time people get to react and influence a situation the less their ability to do so matters. It becomes more about positioning, looking in the right place at the right time, and luck.

4. Get-one-kill-then-die game design. A number of things make you weaker after a fight than you were in previous Halos, so even if you win a fight you are less capable of handling another one. Suddenly you're at the mercy of whoever finds you, or more specifically you are hoping no one does. They started this a bit in Reach by making the weapons kill in more shots, they have got completely bonkers with it in Halo 4 with a lot of features I've listed in many posts. What it comes down to is the less control you have over your life the more lucky you have to be, because even fights you win leave you in much worse shape to win another one. My personal most-hated thing is the fact that you wait 6 seconds for your shields to begin recharging, so anyone close by can drop you in one shot.

5. Imbalanced maps. Ever played Exile? What about Abandon Blue Team in an Oddball game? Not everyone notices that Abandon is imbalanced (It's nowhere near as bad as Exile), but only idiots claim Exile is. So assuming teams of equal skill begin a match in an imbalanced map, you basically have a 50% chance of winning, and the winner is decided before the game begins when team colors are assigned. If that's not luck I don't know what is. It's better odds than Roulette, but that's not saying much. Here's a tip: Don't vote for Exile, but if you do cross your fingers and hope you're blue team. It won't matter that you crossed your fingers, but it will give you an idea of what it feels like to play Halo 4 as someone who understands Halo 4.

6. Big Team Ordnance drops, also found on Relay and Scythe. TornadoFlame already talked about ordnance and the influence it can have on a game, but he didn't speak in terms of the playlist in which it really matters: Big Team Infinity Slayer. Ordnance drops on small maps generally suck by design, but Big Team ordnance is composed of all the best weapons in the game. You can still get needler, pulse grenades, speed boost, but you can also get all the shoulder-mounted weapons and all the sniper rifles, ALL of which are very powerful. The effect of ordnance is magnified in BTB because you're talking about 8 drops on the other team instead of 4, and you're talking about sniper rifles instead of needlers.

The Community Forge maps Relay and Scythe are set to these ordnance drops, and they're both small maps, but you can get fuel rod guns, rocket launchers, and incineration cannons aplenty on these maps. In fact every game I've played on Relay showed these launchers making huge differences in the outcome of the game (I've only played 2 on Scythe and one was SWAT). Games in Ragnarok are almost always decided by who gets more sniper rifles. Each team gets one in their base that respawns and they later get a binary rifle to the left of their base, but the rifles you get or don't get from ordnance decide the game.

7. Loadouts: What happens when you're a specialist at using Promethean Vision to spot targets and line up shots and make callouts, and then one game everyone on the other team is running Stealth? You might adjust your loadout a few deaths into the game, but you've lost the opening push and you don't have the opening lead. What happens when you DON'T use Stealth and you face a lot of people using Promethean Vision.

You don't know what your enemy is bringing to the table, you don't know whether snipe on Solace is a good position or not because if the enemy runs jet packs you're going to die 1-2 times at least to being unprepared, and that puts your sniper rifle in their hands. The way you play the maps would change if you knew what your enemy had, but you don't and you don't control it so you're hoping to get lucky. When you aren't lucky you live and learn, and losing to an unexpected strategy is the very definition of competitive gaming for several milleniums now, but unexpected mechanics advantages were not previously a part of Halo. Unexpected player capabilities and strategies were, but not mechanical advantages like having your grenades explode bigger or having to work less hard in a DMR fight (Stability). Also on maps like Complex your success in taking the Ghost, for example, will depend very much on whether the enemy team loads out plasma pistols. You can count on this in Big Team, but there's plenty of luck influencing the game in other situations.

Overall my complaints with this game have mostly focused on the get-one-kill-then-die design. I don't like how influential ordnance is, but I only get to play Big Team when enough people are on to go in with a team so I don't notice that problem as much (I haven't gotten to complain nearly as much as I'd like about how bad vehicles are). I DO notice the 6 second recharge delay many times every single game I play. The game is definitely more luck-based, for someone who understands the game that's a fact as plain as the vehicles being weaker (Someone on another forum said they weren't, I couldn't believe someone who could talk and play the game was so ignorant). I hope you're satisfied with your explanation.

True, but it's not fueled entirely out of luck. You can easily out play someone with a sniper if you know how to. I'd say it's influenced on both, skill and luck. Of course, a rocket launcher is over-powered, so bringing up that it's lucky to have acquired one is kind of obvious.

...if they're worse at the game than you are.

If they are as good with their sniper rifle as you are with whatever inferior weapon you have, then the power of the weapons will decide the outcome. If you and I are both equally good with the battle rifle and the DMR, but we fight while one of us has a battle rifle and the other has the DMR, the DMR will win because it's a better weapon.

So the idea that you can just outsmart people online when they have an advantage depends entirely on them being stupid enough for you to outsmart in the first place. If they are as good and as smart as you are AND they have an advantage, you lose. That's just how the game works and has always worked. "Outplaying" people of equal skill involves securing advantages for yourself and then playing smart with them, not just one or the other.

Thus the luck of luck-based ordnance makes a massive difference, because the game does its best to match you against players of equal skill.

it does take skill to use w/e happens it comes down to luck for winning. There is no possible way a rockets needs to spawn next to the emeny team when a game is so close There is no skill in having a weapon drop to you. have you managed to play halo 3 online? if not go play it and you will see Why there are alot of frustrated people.

about your sniper thing. heres the thing in other halo's you knew where sniper was and who had it. In this game Anyone can drop a sniper down to them, How do you outplay something your not sure someone has? If i see the person with snipe of course i can outplay them But if they get it in a random luck based ordance drop i have no idea about it and fall prey to Luck.

It's just a matter of realizing what's going on the battlefield. Sure, there's luck involved. Sure, I can get the tables turned and they can get turned around against me again. It's how the game works. Why complain on something that's present on the game? You're saying that it's like rolling dice, and there's absolutely nothing that can prevent the outcome. Like luck is solely the fuel of the game.

on any other game? have you played halo 1-reach?.... there has never been this much luck and randomness in a halo game.. back in halo 3 my friends would 1v1 all the time. they were Really good 50's in mlgs Could easly beat me 15:2 15:5 In this game i beat them because i get amazing spawns if i dont kill them i spawn and kill them.

Geez, I can't even get time to edit my stuff to suit my message. Whatever.

we are just telling it like it is. this is not fun but i'm not a casual player i don't like playing this gametype unless I'm bored Or rdy to run around and have fun but i can't even have fun. Just got a triple kill but instant respawn had there entire 3 guys i just killed spawn 5 inches away from me clean me up and won the game :/ it needs to go back to halo and not this 1 kill die typea thing. i find it so hard to even continue to play and pick up this game with there is so much luck and randomness now Like cod Difference is cod they die in 1 hit so instant respawn isn't as bad This game we have sheilds and such.

Back to the loadouts, on top of my pure hatred for the boltshot, doesn't it just make sense that we should only start with UNSC weapons? I mean why would we send our soldiers into battle with the enemies weapons? We wouldn't send the US military into a war with the enemies weapons. Starting with foreign weapons just doesn't make sense to me.

Multiplayer battles are all just simulations of the infinity, so they can have limitless possibilities. That is why they're called War Games.
