Machinima in the works.

Recommended Posts

You may think when you read this "Zed working on another Machinima? This'll go nowhere." Normally I may agree with you. However recently I bought myself all the equipment required to do this. I have any games that I'll need, however you may present your own, (and you get to film on those yourself).

So, what I propose is a reboot of the 343i Machinima. But instead of just trying it, we actually write it out first.

This thread is for anyone who has the desire to help write the show. If you have an idea, post it in here. If you want to collaborate with others in here to write the show, post in here. Have any question/comments/concerns? Post them here!

Characters:

Zed

Absolute Dog

SykoWolf

Sarge

Mr. 007

Vaulting(how'd he get the heart here?)Frog

Anyone else!

Plot:

You name it!

This is for an actual project though, so while it will be funny, it should have drama too. Action. Stuff like that.

EDIT:

We can use some ideas floating around the forums, talk about things going on (events), and other things like that. For instance, if there is a playdate coming up on Halo 4, we mention a battle going on in (insert map here). If someone gets added to the staff (congrats Spades and Lil Dog), then we mention how HQ has some new personnel going through, so we might see some changes.

But then we also do one of things.

  1. We do a sitcom. This means (almost) anything goes for one episode of say... 10 minutes. Anything that happens is Null and Void by the end of the episode. Except little things that we decide we like. We film it all pretty much at once, adding things here and there, then release them weekly. If something happens we feel is worth mentioning we update an episode.

  2. We do a drama/action. This means significantly less goes for a episodes of say... 10 minutes a piece. Everything that happens is basically Null and Void by the end of the episode. Except little things that we decide we like. We film it all pretty much at once, adding things here and there, then release them weekly. If something happens we feel is worth mentioning we update an episode.

  3. We do a serial sitcom. This means that (almost) anything goes for a season of say... 18 episodes at... 5 minutes a piece. Everything that happens MUST be carried through to the next episode. We film them month by month, and release them week by week.

  4. We do a serial drama/action. So on and so forth.

  5. We do a weekly update. This means pretty much any ideas are Null and Void, but we update the community on everything we thought was worthy of mentioning in the past week, and tell them upcoming events and so forth. Episodes last maybe 3 minutes... We film WEEKLY. We post WEEKLY. We write WEEKLY. But it takes less prep time.

  6. We do a serial weekly update. This means that we continue a series of events hinting at what happened in the week by vaguely mentioning it (i.e. someone added to staff = someone added to HQ). Anything that happens is continued to be worked with for the rest of the show. We film and post weekly, but write... DAILY. In a show such as this, we would be required to pay significantly more attention to it, in order to work out all the details. However, this does give you something to do.

Everybody above me is awesome. Thanks for the support. ANd you are absolutely right, Zaguroth, they should be doing their own voices. So, if you are volunteering to do a voice, you are volunteering to do yours. And possibly some gag character that isn't in for more than one line. Any story ideas guys?

So, what exactly do you want done/what kind of ideas do you want? Just a bunch of random stuff kinda like RvB except with a forum wide invitation to participate?

If you want anything at all, I just randomly thought of something that could be funny by the randomness of it just now...

Could do it in any Halo game ._.

3 guys rob a bank, they start being chased by the police. They escape the police using a stolen Warthog. Once a fair distance from where they were last seen by police they ditch the Warthog and start running/walking/crouching/t-bag-walking/whatever other form of movement can be done while not in a vehicle... Then as they start (insert random form of non-vehicular movement here) one guy falls off a cliff ._.!

As for the story:

One team (consisting of whoever wants to be on that team), could be called the (insert name). They steal a secret weapon (played by the role of an oddball). The other team, (insert name), need to take it back. That could be the main storyline, with sub stories along the way. The secret weapon needs to be placed in the centre of a ring of artefacts (Extraction pieces) in order to be activated. Both teams search for the pieces of the ring, as well as have a 'tug of war' with the initial secret weapon.

While interesting, that could all be filmed on Halo. Why not switch it up a little too, like film some on Minecraft. Or Gears.

Maybe, but it may cause a few problems. Some participants may not have those games. Or on games such as Gears, I'm not sure if they have a theatre mode. That aside, this IS 343i, so I suggest that the Machinima contains mostly Halo content.

You're right, Halo centered would be good. And you're right, not all members may have those games. And you're right that gears has no theatre mode. Fortunately I have a solution for all three.

1. We film just parts of the show on other games. Not all of it, just parts of it. The "HUB", you might call it, would be Halo. Probably Reach, because I only have one copy of Halo 4.

2. If someone does not have one of those games, they either don't have to be in those parts, or, if they want to be, I have... "Minions"... who help me film. They're not the best, but they will do...

3. Gears doesn't have theatre mode, but it does have spectator mode, which will allow us to film. However it could also make it much harder in some places.

Oh ok. I don't understand why the HUB would be in Reach... what do you mean you only have 1 copy of Halo 4...? Anywho, I've got some great action scenes thought up, I'll probably write them up in a script, and post the scene here.

I would participate but I am very busy with the DGL and I am in the BPA (Business Professionals of America). I am working on a project that will go on for about 5 weeks.

However after 5 weeks the DGL should be going smooth and I might get some time to pitch in some help. PM me with any material you make so I can see if I can put it up on the channel.

The HUB being someplace the people are when they aren't in other games. Like in video games, you have a HUB world and a level. As for the only one copy thing, thats for filming purposes. If I have multiple copies, I can system link them and lower the weapons, to make it look more official. Like this I can have (four people x the number of copies) on the screen at one time. With only one copy,I can only have 4 people. But since I have 3 copies of reach, and three xboxes, I can have 12 all with their weapons lowered.

That sounds awesome, Doctor B, and I would love you to help. This very well may be being written for a while, so we may see you after all.

The idea of a HUB sounds interesting, maybe with the active acknowledgement that there's various ways to 'jump into' the various games that you are using i.e. like a door/portal/computer program to jump into minecraft etc. or something? Would sort of explain the jump but also open ideas.

I think serial idea would be interesting; you wouldn't need to use the same characters every time, especially if people couldn't make certain weeks/episodes but it will still keep a general theme running through it. If you want to keep in somewhat topical (and also a way to create in-jokes but also an externally accessible series) maybe the idea of the main organisation/group/company/city, or whatever you want to base it on and then have a shadowy organisation working in the darkness trying to bring the organisation down from the inside. They could be sending agents or various programs into the different games trying to cut off access to the outside with ultimately gaining control. Maybe the 'heroes' are teams put together to fight back, track these people down and win the day. Would allow potentially different people for different games and a main story line in Halo as well.
