Story out of lore?

I find that some of the dialogue within the Spartan ops just does not seem to fit with Halo Lore.

Spartans were trained to be incredibly smart, and yet Palmer keeps dissing the "Science Geeks" I do not remember this attitude from any of the books. The closest it got was Spartans not wanting to "Baby sit" but i just do not understand how Palmer can get mad at science when she is in a massive Science ship, standing ins a suit of Science armor, communicating through a radio... oooo science is so bad. I just don't feel the story fits the lore, and wish more time was put into the story/ screen play for this part of the game, so it better matches the epic Campaign.

Overall thought I am happy this is here, and believe it is a great addition similar to firefight. For all of those complaining there is no firefight I see this as essentially the same thing on larger maps, with the ability to have a level focused on defense.

I also look forward to seeing time trial achievements etc, and some of the goals being geared towards previous weeks and not just the current one, to encourage replay.

Being smart =/= Being a Scientist

Plus these are Spartan IV's who began their training as an adult, I wouldn't think the UNSC would teach them math or science very much, but instead Sun Tzu's art of war and strategy and defenses. Plus these spartans seem to like going into combat, while scientists obviously don't. So there are some clear differences here.

People in the military dis each other all the time. My roommate last year is in the Army and he told me that each branch (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines) thinks every other branch is simply not as good as theirs, such as Marines beings stupid, and the Navy not knowing anything about combat, but it's all just fun and games; humorous rivalries. I mean, is that not what we do with our friends? Make fun of and downplay each other just for the heck of it? You develop something called jargon and nicknames. Just because it sounds demeaning does not mean that it really is. The military is a different world, and I think that 343 has done their fair of research on it, more than the average Halo player. So, quit jumping to conclusions. Sarah Palmer does not hate science. Think of it as tough love.

ALSO, you are talking about Spartan II's such as the Master Chief. They're a dying breed. So are the Spartan III's, which were much less intense than Spartan II's. You can imagine that the Spartan IV's now are extremely casual compared to originals. They're made up of volunteers, not abducted 6 year olds who underwent extreme conditioning and physical enhancements with steroids and what not.

These were very much my thoughts on the matter!

Palmer's beautiful but for me that's all she has going for her. I can understand the micky-taking and what not as mentioned above, me and a few friends cuss one another all the time for a bit of fun.

But the Spartan IV's we've seen and met so far I really dis-like to be honest, they seem so less disciplined than II's and III's, they have that pig attitude and the way Demarco was instantly hitting on Palmer as if he had no control over his genitalia. I guess due to the wider pool of candidates that's to be expected of the IV's and them being adults from the very beginning of their Spartan careers, but my belief still stands. II & III's > IV's.

Overall I enjoy the concept of Spartan Ops and what it has to offer. I want Chief to make a cameo and meet Halsey but I think their re-union ( if they get one ) will be saved for Halo 5.

Interesting that the developers clearly made that big of a difference between the II's, III's, and IV's. I doubt their lack of discipline means they are any less skilled.

Look at World War II vets... Most of them had more discipline and would crap all over today's military... Which isn't to say that today's modern warrior is any less deadly...

Just saying it was a different time and different times called for different heroes. If it sounds like I'm contradicting myself I apologize I'm trying to find the right words for it.

Okay. Here it is. I'm a specialist in the US Army. I've been to Afghanistan. I'd like to think I'm a tough guy. My uncle is a retired 1sg. He was also an infantrymen for multiple tours in Vietnam. Next to him I am humbled and don't have much to say... The things I've seen and went through I will never forget. But my forefathers legends will live on in ways I can't begin to describe or understand. I am humbled.

So to tie this all back in to the OP. perhaps 343 had that mentality when unveiling the spartan IV's? That they are the new breed and without enduring a lifelong way of battle still find humor in things? Reacting the way majestic team did? The chief has never reacted that way. They even mention that in his character bio questionnaire interrogation thingy with dr Halsey in the prologue...

I think that someone at 343 might just understand the military... Lol. At the the comradery and am ever evolving fighting force.
