The next U.S. president

I thought this was a public forum?

Most public forums I visit don't allow political discussions because of the ****-storms that usually follow.

At this point in time, it doesn't really matter who's president, either way, your economy is on a downward spiral with no way to stop it.

Well every election at least to me seems to be a matter of picking the lesser of two evils. I pick Romney simply because of my opinion that the government is currently way to large. Also I honestly believe that Paul Ryan is the only person with the economic mind to make Social Security pay out to the people who originally grew with it.

As for a Obama-care... Government should not have such strong interweaving with healthcare that it is quite basically a government entity.

Romney is not a true conservative person. He stands for what he believes.

Romney definitely stands for what he believes in. He believes in him being president, at almost any cost. He says whatever he thinks will get him elected and changes his opinions on a seemingly daily basis. He even flat-out lies. Why would anyone vote for that?

What candidate doesn't do that? hmmmm none.

im anti-government. i hate both. everything they speak of is lies. everything they said at the debate is a way for people to choose them. they dont care about the people only themselves. obama is too busy running for his reelection instead of doing his job by helping the people still.

48 years ago President Reagan warned us of basically what is happening in the US today. Romney's policies are the only policies that have a hope of reversing it. Increased government regulations in our current state of events will only make it worse.

The US economy is a car going over the edge of a 20,000 foot cliff. Romney will tap on the breaks as we're going over... but President Obama will mash his foot on the gas.

Either way 16,000,000,000,000 dollars in debt won't disappear for centuries. (or ever with Obama-policies)

The United States was not founded on Obama's father's dreams and should not follow them. Becoming more and more reliant on big government is not the way the United States should go. Success should be based on what you know, not who you know. Sure 4 years isn't a lot of time to magically fix things, but it's especially short when you constantly take expensive vacations. "You didn't build that, someone along the way helped you." Tell that to millions of Americans, oh wait he did. As far as I am concerned, he is an empty suit president, yet people still go along for the ride with this joker who duped an entire nation. Where is his resume? Why is he so qualified to lead our country? Where's his birth certificate? I can stand up there and shout change and read from a teleprompter too. Costs on everything have gone up because of a man who spent around 200 days in the senate said change is possible. He didn't say what change though, that should have been a major red flag to clear thinkers everywhere. People will call me racist, but his race did play a big part in his election, as did his pocket book, as he was able to drown McCain out of the running with money. Funny thing is is he is no longer our first black president, the title he rode into office on, he's our first mixed president now. What does that tell you? If you can't even begin to fix things, give someone else a turn. In my opinion, voting is voting for the lesser of two evils.Romney is no where near perfect, but he is better than Obama, who wants everyone living on welfare. If you give a man a welfare check, he will vote democrat. If you give him welfare checks, free telephone, free housing, free car, and a free ticket to ride into the work environment with no job qualification, he will vote Democrat forever. Target the illegal aliens and promise revolution, whatever that means. Have you seen his Communist style campaign posters? It's frightening to think people cheat the system and vote twice for Obama, an action he secretly condones.

Just a friendly reminder, don't get too heated here and start attacking a certain party. Don't attack someone because of their views either. We all have our own.

If I see anyone doing this, like stated before, I will shut down this topic.

Honestly, I have to go with Obama, because my family is below the poverty level. Romney has said multiple times that he would decrease taxes on the rich and put taxes on those who don't have taxes (because they can't afford them), which would hurt my family. Also, he hasn't exactly proven himself as a good politician either. As a matter of fact, I think it wouldn't be a stretch to say that the only reason he is one of the candidates is because he was able to pay off people to support him.

For those of you who think he's the lesser of two evils, here, have this. http://thinkprogress...acts/?mobile=nc

I went through and checked around 70 of these, and all the ones I checked checked out.

The Evils are pretty equal here.

Obama **** on our military. I'm in the military. He dishonors myself and my father. And his Fathers before him. He needs to GO. Done with corporate bail outs. DONE with obamacare. Done with being so broke. Done with having such a weak armed forces. Done with government handouts. Here's an idea. If you don't like being broke JOIN THE ARMY!

I don't like either Candidate particularly much, but after I saw the video revealing Romney's true attentions it made me not like him even more...and after the debates how he would talk about his step plans and how they would work but he would never explain any of them to the public, I like businesses and know they need to strive for everything to get better but I'm also a middle class citizen. Therefore I'm torn between them but leaning slightly toward Obama more. Romney's smug attitude doesn't win me over, especially when he was born with a silver spoon in his mouth.

Romney is god awful, his views on abortion and the likes resemble that of the medieval times, and his plan has been proven not to work.

Obama is just as bad, he just has marginally better views on things like abortion and *** rights.

Both are abysmal choices, so either way things aren't going to get better anyway.

What's wrong with ObamaCare? I'm not American so i wouldn't know what it is, all I do know is that the American healthcare system is the worst I've seen in any first world country so far.

What's wrong with ObamaCare? I'm not American so i wouldn't know what it is, all I do know is that the American healthcare system is the worst I've seen in any first world country so far.

I'll try to explain it to you. ObamaCare started out as a single payer system, kind of like what England has. However, when it was actually voted on the Republicans started whining that it was socialism and would ruin the free market system we have, so it changed. It just sort of turned into just a big regulation overhaul. What it does now is it keeps insurance companies from denying insurance to those with preexisting conditions and allows kids to stay on their parents insurance until they are 26 years old(the old age was 21 if I remember correctly) and more which you can find here: http://www.healthcar...v/law/features/ .

However, the most controversial feature is that it adds a tax for those who don't have health insurance. The reason that is in place is because currently in this country if someone has lets say a heart attack then they will be taken to the hospital and be given whatever care you need. This in some cases can cost tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars which if you have insurance it will pay for. But if you don't have insurance the cost gets put on you, and since the average person doesn't have that kind of money laying around they can't pay it. So now what? The hospital has already treated you and has already spent the money so what do they do? Well the take money out of the doctor's pay checks and from the government in some cases.

So the tax is kind of like having government insurance. Your hospital bills are still payed for like they are now, but this way the government actually gets money out of it so that they don't have millions of dollars a year going to pay for everyone's ATV accident.

I hope that kind of explained it.

Romney! He's actually better financially, he'd be able to pull us out of the debt Obama put us in.

Actually, during his time as the governor of Massachusetts the state was rated 47th in job creation. That means that only three states had worse job creation. So he won't be creating jobs. Not to mention that he proposed tax cuts to the rich that would end up putting us in further debt by about 7.8 trillion USD in the course of a decade. He may be good at "personal finances" (and even that's debatable considering that he was born with a silver spoon in his mouth), but he is horrible at government finances.

Bush put us in...It went into Further debt with Obama in office.

Actually, Bush left the office with a deficit increase rate of 15.9%. With Obama, that number has dropped down to 4.8%, which is the lowest the increase rate has been since Clinton. While Obama said he would decrease the deficit, it seems that at least he staunched the flow. Judging by the pattern in the decrease of the rate (based off of the way it has been going), with Obama in office it will begin to actually shrink the deficit in two years.

True, but Romney would still be able to take us out of it.

Except that Romney couldn't even get one state out of debt (actually put it further into debt, undoing everything the previous governor had done), so how exactly is he supposed to get 50 states out of debt?

The thing that puts me off about Romney is that he isn't actually campaigning off of his own prowess, he's campaigning off of the fact that a lot of people don't like Obama. That and his behavior mimics a "puppet politician". A puppet politician is someone who agrees to do things for powerful people (i.e. major companies, rich men, etc.) if they support their campaign for office. I will now list the behavior quirks that have led me to this conclusion.

1. He outright lied during debates (i.e. saying that Obama has increased the amount that the deficit is "going up", etc.)

If you had something over your opponent that made you better qualified, you wouldn't need to lie. Even if your opponent was slightly better than you, you wouldn't lie in front of the entire nation and risk being dubbed a fraud unless you had something major to lose, like for instance the support of people who can help make you richer than you already are.

2. He does not seem to have any sort of plan for anything once he gets in office, with the exception of destroying the public broadcasting system, going to war with Iran, and getting rid of Obamacare.

None of this would benefit the majority of the people in any way, so why would he do it? Getting rid of PBS would increase the amount of money Media Conglomerates make off of advertisements by increasing their viewers, going to war with Iran would make weapon developers and oil companies richer, and getting rid of Obamacare would allow Insurance companies to make more money by screwing over people.

These two things are the major behavioral indicators of him being a puppet, and while there are others I have neither the time nor the energy to list them all. You may ask yourself, "Is having a puppet as a president such a bad thing?"

The answer is of course it is. Not only is he a puppet, but it's pretty easy to see who's pulling his strings. The ones pulling his strings aren't exactly known for benefiting the people either. Oh, and the last "puppet president" we had was George W. Bush, and look how that turned out. Actually, I have a little more time so I'll go ahead and list some similarities between Romney and Bush.

1. Both governors before running for president.

2. Both have tried to violate the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment.

3. Both ran for president with HUGE backing from major corporations.

4. Both are republican.

5. Both used underhanded and dirty tactics to try to win a presidential election, including smear campaigns, made up "good will" stories, etc.

6. Both had little if any experience in federal governing before running for president.

7. Both wanted to start wars in the middle east (Bush Iraq, Romney Iran).

8. Both wanted to cut funding to federal aid programs to increase funding to the military.

Short list, but pretty vital. Bush is considered one of the worst presidents of all time. The only reason he won a reelection was because the person who he was running against was a joke. I was rooting for Bush the first time around, and that was a major mistake on my part. However, I do NOT want a mirror image of George W. Bush in the oval office, which is why I'm going for Obama.

A weak armed forces? Are you joking? The U.S. spends the most on it's military out of any country in the world. Money that should be going to more important things.
