Nelson Rafael
I’m 26 and looking to get my driver’s license in Texas this year. Are there specific steps for adults over 25? Do I need to take a course, or can I skip straight to the permit test?
Long Knox
I recently went through this myself! For adults over 25 in Texas, you're not legally required to take a driver's education course — but many people still do it to feel more prepared. You’ll also need to watch the Impact Texas Adult Drivers (ITAD) video and bring proper documentation to the DPS office. If you want a clear breakdown of the whole process, learn more here. It made everything much easier for me to understand.
Vonnekah
If you’re 25 or older in Texas, you don’t need a learner’s permit. You can go straight to the DPS for the written and driving tests. You must pass a vision test, the knowledge test, and the driving skills test.
