  1. Hi! Seeing as the juggernaut in charge of Halo right now turned the game into a Microtransaction barbie-simulator, there has been this question that I've been dying to ask. Since there will be customizable armor akin to Halo 3, Reach, and so forth, I'm curious as to how the armor will be unlocked (unless I'm actually stupid and there won't be any armor, in which case I'm gonna kill all of my friends for lying) Will it be like in Halo 3, where the armor is to be earned by achievement-like unlocks? Like how you had to get the special skulls, complete the final mission with 4 friends in ghosts on the hardest difficulty, and so forth to get the Recon armor, Or will it be more like Halo reach where you get credits for playing and you can spend those credits on the armor you want? Or perhaps a combination of the two, where some armor is unlockable via a credit system, while others are achievement-only? Then again I may just be stupid and there won't be any armor at all. ----- hmmm.. If there isn't a planned development for armor, perhaps I could allocate my time to 3d modeling and creating the models and textures for the armor? If you're not doing armor since it's most likely a waste of time, would you allow me to waste my time and implement models of mine that you enjoy?

  5. Hey, Just looking for a few players that are fairly serious of temperament who wanna play. I play to win and that's hard to do in team games with random players who are seemingly clueless. Don't care if you have mic or anything cause mine is broken right now anyway. Just need a few people that can aim. Add iKrameTrain if you are interested.
  6. So guys...we meet again. In case you still haven't had time to read through the first and beginning entry of how to become a better halo player, please look at it here, you could learn something new, and it's always good to learn something new everyday! http://www.343industries.org/forum/topic/34004-how-to-become-a-better-halo-player-biggles-is-back-1-halo-4/ Anyway, I will try to put in as much/more detail into this one as i did into the others, as i know how much you guys LOVE detail, so, lets get on with this golden post! (Literally, it's covered in Gold, take the gold!) 1. Different Types of Power Weapons and how they can be effective. As said in my last entry, the power weapons are very effective in a game and can easily change one game from a certain victory, to an humiliating defeat. Not only that, they are actually quite fun to use too, so, lets get started, I AM ONLY GOING TO TALK ABOUT THE 3 MOST COMMON POWER WEAPONS SEEN, SO, NOT THE INCINERATION CANNON OR FUEL ROD, ONES THAT ARE COMMONLY SEEN ON MOST MAPS. a) Sniper Rifle/Beam Rifle Probably the most well known/commonly used power weapon in any game, the Sniper Rifle obviously is useful for long distance battles and can be used for a variety of reasons. It can provide, with the right position, an overview of the entire map and can be so useful for helping your teammates out, by giving them the right type of communication and the right kind of call outs, you can put your teammates one step ahead of the opponents and you can see them before they see you, and then will be able to get easy kills because you know where they are, and they will have no idea while you're giving them the back-smack! Aside from this, not only does the sniper give a great overview of the map and allows your team to get in place to control the map, it obviously has its main use, to get kills. When you pick up the sniper, I always tend to stay a bit further back from my team and make sure that I can pick off my team (i don't stay at the VERY back, otherwise i feel like i'm of no use, you need to have that impact and the idea that the opponents should watch out for you, and if you stay at the back you can't see much of the map) but i always tend to stay on the opposite side of the opponents and also behind my teammates, so they act as a kind of barrier. However, you need to be wary of teammates coming behind you too, so make sure you always move around, so your position doesn't become too well known, otherwise, you've given the sniper to the other team. Which is the last thing you want to do, because if you do, they can pick you off one by one and make the game and your game plan a waste of time for you. Not only does the sniper work for you and your teammates, but it can also work in general play-terms. When not actively helping your teammates, you can also watch the power weapons and make sure no one else takes them. If you only have the Sniper Rifle and they have the Rocket Launcher/Railgun, they will have the advantage, power weapon control is all about having the strongest and the most power weapons so you can control the map easily. If you watch the power weapons, you can make sure no one else has the power weapons and make sure your teammates find it easier to control the power weapons and can actually use it as a way to tempt them to take the power weapons, but all that will happen is that they end up with a bullet in their head. The last thing that a sniper can be used for is to watch the person who has the objective, whether it be the flag or hill, you can kill the enemies who go near him so you can continue your dominance, because you are protecting your teammates. In summary, Snipers are good for: Long Range assaults Watching other power weapons Protecting the Objective Influencing the game Keeping yourself alive acting like a ninja type person. Weak: Close Range Closed Positions Rocket Launcher/Promethean Cannon In terms of raw power, the rocket launcher has to be in the top 3 of the most powerful weapons. (Behind the Promethean Cannon and the Binary Rifle) The reason it can be seen to be so powerful is because it has a fairly large AoE (Area of Effect) which can kill multiple enemies if they are caught in the blast radius. Unlike the Sniper Rifle, the Rocket launcher is not something which you can sit at the back with and just camp and hope for the best. The Rocket Launcher is seen to be a more of an "assault" kind of weapon and something which you just need to run straight in there with and pick up as many kills as you can. Its not really a defensive weapon (because of its radius) or a weapon which you can really sit around with, however, it is a weapon of such large influence. Because of the kind of weapon it is, it can turn a game on its head so quickly and can give you the advantage, you can get at least 4 - 5 kills with it, which is quite a lot in a slayer game, and in objective, if used right, it can guarantee your team a flag capture / 30 - 40 points in the hill, the possibilities with the weapon are ridiculous and its actually quite devastating. However, it is weak against people in the air/uphill as they can jump over the rockets/glide over the rockets and can kill you quickly, also, the rockets have very limited capacity, so you have to make every shot count or you've essentially wasted the best power weapon in the game. They can be used for map control as people will fear going around the corner in case you are around there for rockets, therefore it can allow your teammates to go and take map control and then shut the other team down and then be even more in control of the game, and this is because you picked up rockets. If you have the Rockets AND the Sniper in your team's hands, then it can win you a game easily if used correctly. Always Jump with the Rocket Launcher too! Blowing yourself up for a kill is always the LAST choice and is something that should be avoided, if you jump, not only does it give you the height advantage over the player, it minimizes the damage you will take and then you will not die, instead of running straight in and blowing yourself up, which could also potentially give the rockets to the other team (Thanks to P34nut for reminding me to put this in) In summary, rockets are good for: Short - Mid Range Assaults Protecting the objective / Destroying the opponent's objective MASSIVE influence in the game Getting 5-6 kills (Slayer) Map Control Weak: Against Snipers Against JetPacks/Uphill Limited Capacity c) Railgun My Opinion of the Railgun is very short and very bias. I don't like the Railgun at all, and to me it is the weakest power weapon of the lot and something which shouldn't be in Halo 5. However i'm not going to have a rant and instead i'm going to explain what the weapon will offer to you. So, The Railgun can be used at anytime and pretty much for any position, it can be used for close range, mid range and long range and because it is 1 hit kill, it is quite a useful power weapon to have as it can stop people from moving and it happens so instantly once it has charged up that you never get time to move, like you may do with a Sniper Rifle. The Railgun in the right hands is a good weapon and it is definitely something that can change the game. I think Unease P34nut sums this up really well: The railgun is quite the effective weapon IF you know how to use it correctly. Although it might work sometime long range shots are a no go unless your opponent is standing still or moving just slightly. When you ignore my previous warning please look at this tip instead. Right after charging your Railgun use you binoculars as a quick zoom in before shooting. You'll be much more accurate this way. Please keep in mind that the Railgun slug takes some time to get to the target so calculate that in. Also Using the Binoculars before you pull the trigger causes you to unzoom. Now the way I like to use it is in close quarters and sometimes mid-range if I'm sure to hit the target. Most people won't even see it coming because the Rail Gun charges really quickly and even quicker when you time your trigger release as it does not have to be fully charged. Target users of other power weapons and take 'em out before they can even think about pulling their trigger. 2. Mentality Whether we like to admit it or not, our Mentality affects us a lot. Whether it be Halo, Sport, Exams, Work, Essays etc, it's really important that we have the best mentality possible for anything. Going into halo with the attitude that is negative and feeling that you're never going to improve and you're just going to lose all the time is the worst kind of attitude you have. I bet you don't have that kind of attitude to work or anything like that, so why have it to Halo? you are 1000x more useful to yourself and your team if you are in the right mood. So, what is the right mood? The right mood is when you are upbeat and positive, if you come in with a positive attitude, then you will do better, your shot will be better and you will actually want to play, don't feel the anxiety of going into lobby and going against other people. Halo isn't just about winning, its like any multiplayer game, its a learning experience and the more you play the more you learn and the more different things you'll do, and you will definitely improve. Halo, as said previously, isn't about winning from the get go, its about how you cope with defeat at the beginning and learn more and get tips to become a better player. I know people, including myself who get down in the dumps and feel like Halo is just a load of crap, and that you're not good enough, and even then it still happens now. But as long as you get through that and look on the more positive sides of the fact that you are a good, learning player, then everything will be fine. Because you're learning, just like everyone else, not just in Halo but in life. We are all learning, and this is how halo is meant to be seen to be. You need to want to learn, i can give as many tips and tricks as anyone else, but if you aren't willing to try them and out and try and learn from then, and try to adapt them to your own gamestyle, there's no point of watching. The whole point of my series is a kind of guideline, so you can get the basic outline of what you're supposed to do and how everything works, but i can't tell you how to do every single thing and there are some things in Halo you need to pick up yourself. You need to be open to constructive criticism and take it as a way of learning and not as a personal insult, if i had done that, i'd be a much better player than i am now. In short, don't let your ego get in the way of you getting better, and that applies to anything, not just Halo. But most of all, you need to have fun, if you are not having fun, don't play. Gmaes are made to be enjoyed, no matter how competitive they are. If you don't enjoy halo and it frustrates you, just don't play, its as simple as that, having fun is the whole reason to play and to get that thrill out of winning and even losing, and enjoying talking to your friends, this is what the community is about, if you don't enjoy playing from the start, play another game, as Halo may not be the game for you. If you don't enjoy playing but are a seasoned veteran, take a break. A break can allow you to think about your gamestyle, evaluate it, and as a result improve, it also gives you the break you need from playing too much and allows you to take a rest from the game, and actually improves your game and makes you play better (as you now think about how you play and don't make such silly mistakes as you would if yo were frustrated.) If you hate on the game, the game will hate on you. So in short, while Halo may be a competitive game to you, it should be something you want to get better at and have fun at, other wise you will not get the full experience you should get out of it, and this applies to life. I know I have gone off topic in parts, but i feel making the comparison between Halo and Life is important. 3) What to do when you find your ideal team and how to organize yourselves So, after you've found your DREAM team, they're perfect, they're solid halo players, they're really nice, they know how to improve and are improving all the time, and are giving you tips and tricks on the way, so, what is there to do now if you want to become a better team? I've learnt overtime setting people to do certain positions and certain roles is the WRONG thing to do. People can adapt to different situations and have different games and may be doing the role that the other player will do. While you may do one type of thing specifically, IE: Capture the flag more and be more of an objective player, doesn't mean you are the sole objective player and no one else can take the objective, if you have the chance of making the impact to your team, despite it not being seen as your main role, take it! Your team is more important and to win easily you may need to make sacrifices to your own gamestyle and maybe go out of position to make sure you keep map control and keep the advantage over the team, so then you find it easier to capture the flag and actually be more SUCCESSFUL in game. Your role doesn't matter at all, and don't let anyone tell you that, you need to do what's best for your team, and if that is maybe going into a slayer role when you are objective/support, you need to do it. Another thing is to make sure your team all get along and have common interests outside of Halo, if you have no other interests aside halo, its likely the team chemistry will be lacking and you will struggle to find anything to talk about outside of Halo, which is not very good. You can't solely talk about Halo as that will stress you all out and it will get to be a long and boring conversation very quick, and you will not want to be a team anymore because you will all think you're boring, something which cannot happen. Team Chemistry is basically how well you get along IN AND OUT of the game, and if you don't get along OUT of the game, there is no point of even being a team, since it probably won't last very long. Maybe you all like sports? Just talk about that outside of the game, just find a common topic you can all talk about and can have a laugh about so you are all relaxed and ready for the next game, you will be all tense and will eventually get angry at each other if something goes wrong, you need to be relaxed and not stressed at all. You also need to make sure you are each pulling your weight. If one of you is slacking and not wanting to play and is basically bringing down the whole team, first, talk to him about it. Tell him you all want to improve and you feel he needs to play more/have a better attitude, or you will consider looking for another teammate. If he still is slacking, talk to him and tell him you're looking for someone else, but say this as an empty threat, if he has an excuse not to play or maybe he has family problems, THAT IS PERFECTLY ACCEPTABLE, DON'T BE A COMPLETE IDIOT AND MAKE HALO COME BEFORE FAMILY, NOTHING COMES BEFORE FAMILY OR OTHER SUCH IMPORTANT ISSUES. However, if the person is still slacking and has no real reason for it other than a cba attitude, get rid of him. You've given him enough times to try and make an effort and build team chemistry, but clearly he doesn't want to, so, why keep a teammate who doesn't want to play and is just letting the team down? Just get rid of him and look for someone who wants to play. Always try to keep the original team though, you made that team because you thought you could get along, and just because results aren't going your way doesn't mean that you should get rid of him, everyone has bad games, and everyone doesn't play 100% perfect, so, let people have bad games, everyone has them and maybe we are weak in a certain department. The last thing you wan to do is break tehir confidence and shout at them for not playing well, again, just give constructive criticism and let them learn from their mistakes, its the only way of doing it properly without hurting their feelings and making sure they still want to team with you without thinking you're a complete moron. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ This was pretty poor from me, sorry guys, I will edit it heavily most likely and make it a lot better than it is currently, but i am still looking for advice on the railgun and any good posts will be edited into the thread. Again, i hope this helped, i will add detail when I'm not as tired, Peace all. Biggles Song for the episode: Episode 3: Haven - The Ins and Outs Best Specialization to have Manners In Game.
  7. Hi, my name is Sen or Sen Ten. I live in the Pacific time zone, I have no life so I'm on a lot, and I'm pretty awesome. So add me! CheckeredZeebra
  8. The following are some feature changes that I would like to see in Halo 5. None of them have any bearing on the base gameplay, but instead adjust how we look at, and feel about, the game while we're playing it. Please don't reply without reading, especially to point number 1. I think once you've read what I've suggested there, you'll find that it adds to the experience, without detracting from it in any way. 1. Some form of additional ranking system that doesn't amount to raw EXP. (Don't get me wrong, I like the EXP rating too, check below for an awesome solution) For the exp ranking, you are a private, sergeant, colonel, whatever. But you are NOT a number. (Rank 120, anyone? This needs to go away.) For the skill ranking, or class, your insignia (the arrows of a sergeant, or the stars of a colonel) will be colored, or look to be made of a different material. For example. -Player A has a very low skill ranking. They have a .68 KD in slayer gamemodes, and they lose a lot of objective too. They have only played 12 matches though. -Player B has a relatively low skill ranking. They have a .88 KD in slayer, and they lose nearly every objective game they play. They have played about a month. 110 matches -Player C has a moderate skill ranking. They have a 1.02 KD in slayer, and a .96 win:loss in objective. They have played for a while, 318 matches. -Player D is a veteran, and a very skilled player. They have a KD of 4.15 and an objective win:loss of 3. They have played for months, 2200 matches. Player A might be a Private (class II), their rank symbol will be the arrow of a private, but the symbol's color would be a standard white, because they have not played enough matches to get an accurate skill ranking. Player B is likely a Lieutenant (class III), their rank symbol is the bar of the lieutenant, and is made of a rough, gritty metal granted to all the class III players who stick it out. Player C might be a Colonel (class V), their rank symbol will be the stars of a colonel, and will be the shining gold standard of a rank V player. Player D is probably a "Max Rank" (class X), their rank symbol will be the vibrant shape of a max rank adornment, and will have the fiery orange hue of a sunlit topaz. 2. Lobby style should revert from tabbed playercards to a list of names with a preview pane, like Reach had. (Halo 4 feels so impersonal, seriously. It makes you feel like a number. I feel more individualized at the DMV.) Remember the lobby for Halo Reach? Yeah. It was good, wasn't it? To the right there is a list of players and the teams they're on, with their name and ranking symbol. As you scroll through the list, the spartan preview on the edge of the screen changes to show their spartan and their stats. Simple, elegant, integrated, informative, personal. Well done. Halo 4's lobby looks and feels like Windows 8. Enough said, seriously, I don't even want to explain further than that. 3. When voting on maps and gametypes, the number of votes should be invisible until after voting has taken place. (Peer pressure voting is a real thing, most people don't even realize they do it.) -Add a voting option for "Impartial". The cursor should default to this position when voting, so the button mash voters don't screw the roll by voting for whatever ended up on top. -In the event of a tie, the map is randomly chosen from the tied maps. Players are never shown the vote tally, but may still have communicated with their team while voting. -Gametype should be an independent vote from the map vote when relevant, and voting should follow the same principles therein. 4. Post match data should go back to the way it was in Halo 3, including top medals (MVP should be pictured. Top medals should return to being accurate.) -The post-match screen from Halo 3 was ideal. Honestly, just return to that format, it was nearly flawless. As for top medals: I like top medals, it's a cool addition to the game, like a competition of its own. However, when I see "first blood" as the top medal every match, I want to throw something at my television. Rules for top medals: a. First Blood should ONLY be a top 3 medal when NO OTHER 3 medals have been earned. First blood is earned EVERY GAME. It is not "top" in fact, it is not even relatively impressive. b. Medal count should not supersede medal quality (3 double kills are not as impressive as an overkill, 4 killing sprees are VASTLY easier to achieve than 1 riot) c. Bull-trues are not inherently impressive. Most are either pure luck, or just outright bull-CRAP in the form of someone who pulled a shotgun from their own buttcrack. d. Stickies are underrated (in large quantities). They're impressive, and usually worthy of screaming into your mic. 5. Speaking of medals.... What happened? Where's my sharpshooter medal!? -The lifetime "medal chest" should be view-able in game by yourself and other players -The following medals need to be in / return to the game: *20 streaks were never ingame, but should have been. Weapon Sprees (5/10/15/20*) -Sniper Weapons (sniper spree, sharpshooter, be the bullet, 20*) -Hammer (hammer spree, dreamcrusher, wrecking crew, 20*) -Shotgun (shotgun spree, open season, buck wild, 20*) -Sword (sword spree, slice and dice, cutting crew, 20*) -Headshots (headshot spree, trigger happy, marksman, 20*) -Stickies (Sticky spree, Sticky Fingers, Grenadier, 20*) -Wheelmans (wheelman spree, roadhog, road rage, 20*) -Splatters (splatter spree, vehicular manslaughter, sunday driver, 20*) -Assists (assist spree, sidekick, second gunman, 20*) <---- currently, the "assist spree" exists as "wingman" Other -Sniper weapon headshot medal (WHY would you remove this. GIVE ME ONE REASON. Honestly!) -The following medals just need to be worth more points Headshot (Currently equal to kill. Just...what even...) Snapshot (also currently equal to a regular kill. Again..what on earth was going through the decision-maker's mind here? I am INCAPABLE of understanding this.) -The following medals simply need to go away Distraction (these are pretty much universally given to terrible players who can't land shots, and/or have no map awareness, I'd be willing to bet less than 1/1000 are intentional) Fortification Assist (See also: Camper (noun) - obnoxious, selfish individual who can't aim and thus resorts to 'surprise attacks' on his betters, often ruining the pace of a game.) Vehicle Hill (there is no reason to differentiate this from otherwise just being in the hill) Weapon-specific "kill" medals (they are all worth the same number of points, just use a generic kill medal and free up resources for medals that are actually accolades) And that's it. Comment, like, dislike...whatever. I just think that if these changes were made to the Halo matchmaking environment, it would feel better overall, and therefore make the game more enjoyable.
  9. I just recently talked to a Mlg halo player here in MI. ( for the sake of his privacy i'm not going to mention his name). One of the things he told me about Halo 2 and 3 is that it takes more skill than the newer halos. This is also one of the reasons he quit the MLG, because halo reach took less skill than the previous halos did. Now don't get me wrong i love halo reach and halo 4 but i think this is true. Game developers are fearing that their games are too "hard" causing them to lose popularity. therefore they make it easier for people who are not used to halo e able to pick up halo and be good at it, insted of having to play the game to get better at it. just my opinion, but you know what rhymes with opinion... onion so mine may stink to you.
  10. For all the true fan of Halo. People that agree with my thesis, rally behind me so we may once again claim Halo for our own! My gamertag is DrThaddeus, friend request me. Reply to this topic! Lets make a change! What is skill? What make a player skilled at what they do? What is the total number of hours played that creates a skilled player? Skilled enough even that they themselves may call themselves skilled? I do not have the answer to that but I do know what makes a good Halo player. A Halo player spends hours upon hours of their day playing the game. Not so much for the fun or the victory but in the hopes that they too will become skilled at the game. A good Halo player learns things about the game that go far beyond the realm of regular knowledge of Halo players: the spawn time, the weapons on a map, player spawns. A good Halo player knows their strengths but even more so their weaknesses. And tried their best to compensate for those weaknesses. Halo doesn't just stay a game to these players it becomes a way of life for the gamer. You literally breathe the game play in. You worship the developer and thank them for their hard work and they in turn provide you with what you wish. It is as if they are the Gods and we praise them and for our dutiful praise we are rewarded with what we most desire in the game. Halo 4 as destroyed the system of the skilled player. Halo 4 has destroyed the praise of the gamers. When Bungie was in control of Halo did you hear many people curse the name of Bungie for what they had put in the game? No. We the gamers may have not always agreed with it but we coped with it until Bungie in kindness and understander of their gamer follows changed the situation. The situations that caused some (very few) players to curse their (Bungie's) name. Skill is something that is created by the player. He learns techniques that help him in battle and this becomes their skill. Every player is not skilled in the same thing. 343 took away the need for skill when you let weapons such as the AR, Carbine, and Suppressor run free. The fact the people openly praise the use of weapons that require no skill is sad. Truely sad. You barely have to aim, keep count of bullets, strife, or pace yourself to receive a kill. This is sad in the fact that you have allowed your new players to be on the same level as players that have earned their place in the top ranks of Halo by using skill. All of the above mentioned qualities are part of skill. But not only do you go so far as to change the weapons, add ordinance drops, un-needed vehicles to maps, you won't listen to the players. You won't listen to the players that want a classic Halo: Reach like play listen. No ordinance drop, Promethian vision, and regular weapon spans on a map. You change things as how you want them but refuse to listen to your players and you are okay with that...I think it is sad. I have seen the best clans and squad crumble under the weight of playing Halo 4. You have reduced some clans as to only playing custom games because their members are tired of the unneccasary variables in Matchmaking. My thesis is the following: Let the reign of skilled players return. Give up our own Reach like playlists. Give us back the ablility to use skill and fight for an honorable victory and not a victory won in cheap tricks. Give up back Halo. The skilled players: players that priase the DMR, players that use stealth to get the upper hand, players that take the time to memorize span times. Give it back to the true Halo players for we are your future. If it is not given back you will have just created another Call of Duty and the players that once praise Halo will no more. 12. As you may have heard, the CSR (Competitive Skill Ranking) System is set to drop early 2013. But 343 is undecided about weather or not to give you a fresh start and start at skill level 1, or put skill ranks in based on what you already have done. 343 says they are tracking your skill rank right now, but just haven't implemented the skill system in yet so you can't see it. Personally, I think keeping the skill ranks instead of resetting it is a terrible idea. First off we don't know what playlists are competitive and which are social. Next, all playlists have Join in Progress. If the Skill system if based off if you win or lose (which it better be) than having people joining and quiting your match could completely mess up your skill rank. And last of all, the game is defiantly not developed enough to start tracking skill. As the game stands now, there are many problems that could interfere with your wins and loses. None of this would really matter, except your skill can get very hard to change if you get incosietant with your wins and loses. Let's say you win a few here, the lose a few there, and overall are just unpredictable winning/losing games. If that has happened then the skill rank can seem to be really hard to move up or down in either direction. A more explained look at the system can be found here: http://www.bungie.net/forums/posts.aspx?postid=14414600 In short, it basically states that inconsistansy = slow rank movement up and down, and vise versa. And since I'm sure most off you had been playing with randoms you probably have already been very inconsistent, and a fresh start would be a much better option for you in that. I'm not for sure saying that's how the CSR system will work, but they are sticking to something very similiar to the old trueskill system. Other concearns I have that we should tell 343 to do is tell them that they shouldn't make your skill rank only visible on Halo Waypoint, which is currently what they plan on doing. They should also keep it win/lose based and not personal stat based system. This is because Halo is a very team based game, and personal stats can't detect your callouts, teamwork, etc. I made this thread so we can make sure 343 makes a great system, because honestly the fate of the Halo series depends on it.
  13. Does anybody know when 343 industries will add the MLG and Team Doubles playlists. In my opinion Halo 4 will be more fun if those two game types are added. I believe that MLG is the best game type and needs to be added because, people all start to communicate and improve their skill and that makes the game more competitive and fun. f you have the MLG game types and maps let me know where to get them please.
  14. Dgnified Gaming What's up guys, are you looking for a clan who is competitive and has fun at the same time. If you are this is the best clan for you. We are a group of people who are very good at the game in different ways. Only being 11 days old this clan has many things to offer. We have a ranking system, 8 divisions, and we are working on a machinima. Our ranking system is very easy to follow. To rank up you need to show that you have skill. To show us that you have skill you need to participate in our soon to be weekly tournament. Our tounament will be on clan maps that we have forged with our forging divison. Our 8 divisions are for fun. When you join the clan you pick a division. A division shows what your type of gamestyle you play. Whether it is close quarters or long range. As I said before we have 8 divisions, so check them all out before you choose what division you want to be under. Even if you are not a positive k/d player we will still accept you with open arms. Better then accepting you we will help you become better at the game with the help of our boot camp division. To learn more about this clan check us out at our website. www.dignified-gaming.webs.com( Sorry guys I do not know how to put in a link) Also do not for get the .webs part of the addres. Our website has the list of the rules, ranks, and divisions. Before saying that we are not a good clan check us out. Another way to contact me is on x-box live. 15. As a Halo fan since the realease of Halo 1 I applaud 343 for its work on Halo 4. 343 has made a balanced, fun, and authentic Halo mutliplayer experience, but it feels too "balanced". And by balanced I mean it has COD-esque skill nerfing features. I will attribute the COD to microsoft's substantial investment in this game and their hope for a return on that investment in a market that features that other first person shooter being released right before the holiday season. There are 3 critical and easy changes to make for multiplayer. 1) Make games turn on kills not points. -Who wants to lose a game of regicide to a guy with less kills than you but who managed to kill the king a few times? This logic makes no sense, why reward the playerwho kills the guy with the giant indicator over his head rather than the player with the most overall kills? In general the point system should not determine the outcome of games, but rather be used into leveling up the meaningless ranks currently in place, much like the *cough* COD system *cough*. The points just make it impossible to determine on the fly what is needed to be done by players to win the game and detracts from the overall competiveness. By the way, what happened to Free-for-all? 2) Ordinace drops are an un-needed feature -Ordinace drops are just a thinly veiled "killstreak reward" system, laughably even ordinance drops are not based on kills but on points. Ordinance drops are just flat out not needed and stand in the way of players using some of the best designed, balanced and thought out weapons in the game. Not to mention making vehicles too dominant in gametypes which feature them. What should be brought back is good ole fashioned weapon spawns on the map, go ahead and put designators and timers on them if that is what it will take to get this feature back into match-making. Weapon spawns on the maps add a whole new level of strategy and teamwork which was erased by ordinance drops. This same concept applies for power ups like speed, power and overshield. So what if players will be able to "camp" weapon spawns, the abuses of the weapon on map system do not overcome its benefits to gameplay. 3) Give players real skill ranks 1-50 -This is probably the most needed feature of multiplayer. The 1-50 rank system, in the actual game, next to your name changes the entire dynamic of the Halo multiplayer experience. When your rank depends of the games you win rather than on the points you get, a remarkable thing happens...teamwork and co-ordination actually awaken from their COD induced slumber and impove gameplay for everyone. Rank XP that goes up when you win and goes down when you lose is such a critical component of the Halo online dynamic it makes me sad to see what the last 2 games have chosen to do with ranks. Once again so what if people will abuse this sytem? The same arguement applies for the American welfare system, just because some people will abuse the system does not mean it should be taken away. Plus grouping players based on ranks is an tried and true way to effectively ensure more balanced and competitive gameplay. As opposed to the prevailing lone wolf "preserve my kill death ratio" mindset that now regins supreme (because as it stands to determine how good someone is, you must look that the kill death ratio of that player rather than a 1-50 skill rank that has weight behind it). In conclusion -Halo has always been and should always be a different animal than COD. COD has perfected the formula of nerfing every player down to relative mediocrity with its features ensuring a very balanced game ideal for players who frankly are not that good at the game itself but can use its balancing features to get kills despite differences in playing skill. Halo on the other hand, originally anyway started players out on an equal playing field letting skill and luck decide the outcomes. There is no place for COD skill nerfing features to be present in a Halo game outside the goal of attempting to cater to a wider base of consumers which is exactly why Reach failed so miserably. The Halo franchise is a living example of "if you build it, they will come". If you give gamers a platform where everyone begins the game at a standardized baseline and let each player set himself apart by their gameplay then that very thing will happen. Not everyone was created equally when it comes to Halo and the franchise should not compensate for that, the weak will die off and move on to easier game will the strong will survive and dominate Halo, while the vast majoirty of people will enjoy a fiercely competive multiplayer experience unlike any other FPS on the market. In conclusion it is the competitve nature of Halo that sets it apart in the market place, players should be able to show their hard earned Halo rank and have that mean something as it did in Halo 2. Ranks and the competition for them were a driving factor behind the quantity and quality of gameplay, a challenging 1-50 ranking system is the ULTIMATE tool for gameplay longevity by presenting the vast majority of people with a never-ending quest for the rank number they want next to their gamertag. The competiveness of the Halo franchise should present players with the unique opportunity in the FPS market to set themselves apart from everyother player online through their own gameplay (wherever that may fall in a 1-50 system), and it should be incumbent on players NOT the game mechanics to adjust for in game balancing. The field of play is here, just change the rules so that players can once again create the Halo multiplayer experience that the franchise has been celebrated for.
  16. I have been with a team since Halo 2 until we disbanded at the beginning of Halo 3. We have skill, team work and we call out the enemy team's position for support fire. Our fourth man has a lot to do and can not be on the game very much at all. We need a new man to be our fourth in order to compete in Matchmaking, Game battles and Online tournaments. Add me: Fatal TnB. Or post on here. We need asap!
  17. Ok, so i'm fed up with 343 not listening to the players who make Halo, Halo. What's the deal with not including a competitive ranking system? Don't give me the "cheaters" excuse, because i think that's a cop out. 343 you're really going to dumb the game down to avoid cheaters? You have to realize what gave Halo such great replay value was it's RANKING SYSTEM, nothing made the player crave halo more than it's ranking system. It got us all addicted. I mean running home after football practice just to play, waking up in the morning and the first thing we do is turn on our xbox... I think we need to start a petition - maybe Halo 4 should create an online pass - 343 must somehow give us the option to play competitively. Can't they see that WE ARE ALL ASKING FOR IT. We want to be able to stand out among other players because of our true skill, not because of the countless hours we've spent playing. Please, do not belittle the Halo Universe, with all of it's true HARDCORE fans, to a ranking system based on accumulating points. If so at least bring CLANS back or give us some sort of relief, so we competitive types, can have something to be proud of. Basically, THOSE WHO PLAY CUSTOM GAMES ALL DAY ARE HAPPY. WE WHO PLAY HALO COMPETITIVELY ARE NOT. Time for a petition. I don't think 343 understands it's players. They've turned into some comic, customize your spartan, make him look cool, WOOP-DEE-DOO, there are many of us who don't care for this. We just want a solid ranking system, with a number, bring back the cool symbols if you'd like. But just please, give us what WE want. Who knows what's the right way to go about starting a petition? It would be great to have one circling the Internet. Thanks, Phil
  18. Halo 4 definitely needs a ranking system that's based on skill rather than experience like reach. Reach was a joke to just about everyone, and this is one of the MAIN reasons why (of course unbalanced AAs, etc.). My point is, unlike reach, H4 or subsequent games need a ranking system that people care about. You can argue, "it's just a number" but then why would so many people care about it? I mean ultimately, you can always say, "it's just a game" or "it's just entertainment." Just like most forms of entertainment, the purpose of it is to be ENTERTAINING, not practical. Now that that moot point (or at least what should be one) is out of the way, the ranking system with a number there is important to indicate your skill level and match you up with others of that skill level - the number allowing you to see each person's rank without necessarily having to go through each of their KDRs. Frank O'Connor states that this can increase boosting. Personally, I never had a MAJOR problem with people boosting in H2, and very little in H3. Granted, I never exceeeded level 40 because my Internet connection was so bad (but I did have a 40!). Regardless, the ranking system gave something for players to PLAY FOR! ...To reach the highest rank and say, "hey look, I did very well at something I enjoy a heckuva lot!" (but not so much in those words, more like "F*** YEAH!"). Anyway, my point is, Reach didn't give the incentive, because experience does not equal skill, and people want to be rewarded for their skill. Reach rewarded players for boosting more so IMO because you could just put the controller down and come back a little later, and hey look! YOU'VE GOT CREDITS! That burst my bubble more than anything else. And what did Bungie do as one of their last acts - HEY! Let's ban/reset those who are doing it in FIREFIGHT! A playlst that doesn't ACTUALLY effect anyone else as far as PVP matchmaking goes.... And TO THIS DAY I still play with people who do it on my team in PVP matchmaking, or constantly betray, or constantly suicide, or just leave the game. So if I'm not with a full team, I am having a poor experience. And let's face it, if 343i cared about this at all, you wouldn't see it nearly as much (which is almost EVERY game for me - no exaggeration). People don't care and can clearly get away with doing this. So Frank O'Connor, I'm respectfully calling you out for flipping your lid on a ranking system and boosting, because if this (Reach) isn't a form of boosting then I don't know what is... unlesss... Unless that is that you actually recognize that Reach doesn't involve ranking players by skill at all, let alone matching them up! Then my friend, then it would not be boosting but rather taking advantage of the system for credits that ultimately represent nothing! I would really love to hear how Reach has any competitive aspect and how it promotes this competition. That is where Reach's philosophy on matchmaking falls drastically short - that credits to buy stupid stuff matters to competitive PVP Halo players. We want a ranking system back - one that keeps track of your skills and not one that rewards you for simply playing the game. Nowhere is it blatantly stated thus far for Halo 4 that the ranked system will be based on player skill whatsoever. Frank O'Connor pitched around the question by stating that players wlll be able to track their own skill and will be matched up according to their individual skill - claims also made for Reach before its release. So I want to hear it from the mouth of Frankie O'Connor himself, as blatantly as possible, stating what the actual multiplayer matchmaking will be like in H4 with regards to a ranking system and player skill. Because what I am looking for, and what almost all competitive Halo players are looking for, is a ranked system back again that measures your skill while allowing others to see your rank/level in order to determine who they're up against. As far as how the ranking system would work, it would be nice to incorporate teamwork and winning games into it, but I think first and foremost individual skill needs to be a major part. Because silly things can happen such as teammates leaving games, betraying... oh wait, this list is getting similar to my last one. With that rank/level number there to worry about, and seeing that people certainly cared about it in H2-3, people would not be so keen on deranking by committing those acts (acts that should have an automatic level drop IMO if you leave a game intentionally, and have a level drop after 3 intentional suicides/betrayals per game - or something to that harsh nature). And hey, if Bungie can monitor people for not playing in firefight, I don't see why things like these can't be monitored too! To me this is simple to implement as well to please both competitive players and casuals. Just have a ranked playlist and an unranked playlist that everything falls under (i.e. team slayer, team skirmish, team snipers, etc...). The ranked would have only competitive playlists and be very balanced as far as armor abilities, equipment and such (maybe none of it even), whereas the other would have everything in it (as appropriated by 343i per gametype) and could be where 343i determines what could work in competitive ranked play (sort of like testing different things out to see what's balanced enough for ranked play). Both playlists could have, for example, Team Slayer (with ranked being more balanced for competitive play), but only the unranked would have things like Action Sack. So I don't think that's too hard or too much to ask for. So lastly (and I apologize for the long post but I miss ranks too much and am very passionate with this topic and Halo), I am calling for Frank O'Connor to announce or respond to me with what things wlll be like for H4 mulitplayer matchmaking regarding ranks and their basis (skill based vs experience based) in the most blatant manner possible without spoiling everything. For exmaple, just saying how the system works would suffice - like how it determines rank and sorts out players to play with each other. I would like to hear thoughts back, especially from 343i regarding my ideas for playlists and how the ranking system should be. To me it's simple and flexible enough for 343i to do a lot with it! And Frank O'Connor, I respect you as a Halo fan and appreciate the hard work and dedication to the Halo community, I just can't agree with you on a ranking system. Please don't take this as a personal attack, because I'm sure you're a great guy and all, but I'm just very passionate about this topic. So please, I implore you to make these details known and interact with the community here that is screaming for a ranking system that reminds us of the fun we had in H2 and H3....oh and by the way, while you're at it.......... CLANS ~ Force 410
  19. 343 I am an individual fan and this probably means nothing to you. Please bring back a ranking system where I can brag to my friends. I loved Halo 1-3. Precisely because of their competitive aspects. When reach came out I played it for a month or two before moving back to 3. I still have not gotten a 50 in halo 3 but I love trying because it feels like it actually means something. Whenever I see someone with lots of credits on Reach i think, wow, that kid plays a lot of halo. Will people sell accounts? Maybe but that doesn't hurt anyone. Sure its annoying but who cares if some ******* can get a new account and get a 50, because if they didn't earn it they will lose it. I am so in love with the halo series. Reach was like a cheating girlfriend. But if you guys bring back a game with a good ranking system I will be loyal to 343 forever. Also competitive rating systems solve weapon power discrepancies, if you weight weapons in a way that is strange the good players will figure out the best way to use those weapons and thus solve the problem. This was super stream of consciousness, but seriously make a ranking system where I can feel good about my rank, and I will dedicate all my time to your game. Good luck fellahs can't wait for 4, pregnantteen666
