  1. Hi there, I am a huge Halo-fan since the first game. As PC-Gamer, I had wait a long time, until I could play the games and I loved it. But there is one (two, to be honest) topic which always bothered me: Terminals, logs or how you call it. I do not know who at first had the idead to put collectibles into a game to stretch the time of playing. But it was a bad one in my eyes. They totally kill any immersion, if you search for them. Sure, you can play the game through and than search for them in the second run. But I want to know all elements of the story while playing and not learn it, when the storyline is over. My strategy in Halo is the same like in every game which has collectibles: Searching via google for a guide to find them and than collect them via playing. But as I said, it mostly kills the immersion, when you have a dramatic urgency and first of all you had to search the era for some info terminal, while you get a com-call to hurry. The terminals in Halo 3 were a joke. Honestly, in Halo 2 you had at least a short movie and in Halo 3: ODST you had an audio log, which was easy to find because of the hints. But in Halo 3, you had to read boring stuff and break your game with it. I have not played Halo 4 und Halo Infinite yet, but I read, that they also head terminals. Maybe some people love to search war zones for collectibles. But I do not. But I want to know the story in its deepth. To ask for removing the terminals from future games maybe would be presumptuous. But please, could you at least integrate them in a way, which does not break the immersion? Like unlocking them automatically after a mission so you can view them in the menu. Or just integrate them into the regulary path of the game like when you need to use a console to activate something, so that the data-terminal next to it. Our just integrate them into a regular cutscene, so that there is an option to learn more or keep playing. Something like that, which prevents me from searching empty levels, while they story is waiting for me. Collectibles are no fun, they are boring and annoying. Like open worlds. There was a time, where games do not had these unnecessary decorations. Halo CE was a good game and does not needed it. I played it serval times. If you want to stretch the time of playing, give as possibilities to solve things, achievements to unlock, smarter enemies... such things. But no scavanger hunt during dramatic storylines, where I as soldier had to desert and leave the mission to search for something. Tell a good story. Best regards.
  2. I don't know if there is already a thread about this, if so, could someone link it or post the answer here. Does anybody know all the terminal locations in Halo 4? Or does someone know a good video on YouTube that clearly shows all of the terminal locations?
  3. 343i Has posted new videos on their YouTube Channel titled as Halo 2 Anniversary Prologue terminals. It is unknown if these are to be in the actually game, or just a showcase of what the terminals will appear like. So without further ado... ROLL CLIPS! Terminal 1 - Beholden A small Covenant recon team has been dispatched by the Prophet of Regret to retrieve an artifact that could, at last, point the sacred way to Halo. Terminal 2 - Unyielding Fred-104 and Linda-058 come before the Office of Naval Intelligence to update them on their assault of the Covenant’s Unyielding Hierophant, and to reveal what it might mean for humanity’s fight for survival. Summary: In the first Terminal, you see that the Covenant recon team finds a "Luminary" which pinpoints to the opening of the portal to the Ark, which just so happens to be on "Erde Tyrene" (Earth) This gives insight on why Regret Jumped the gun to Earth before anyone other prophet knew of it. In the second terminal, Fred and Linda are still in contact with John, and are supposed to rendezvous with him after meeting ONI Brass. It also gives a picture of Regrets fleet riding past Jupiter on their way to Earth. So what are your thoughts, concerns, assumptions, about the terminals?
  4. Over at Halo.bungie.org theres a lot of stuff there about comic con and theres a small head line saying That terminals are confirmed, assume this is correct as i cant see halo.bungie.org being an unreliable source about this Click the link to see for yourselves http://halo.bungie.o...ntcoverage.html
  5. Just a quick rant for all the Halo "fans" who have now completed the Halo 4 campaign but are confused about the story. If you are gonna *post* questions on this forum like "who is this new villain?" or "where is the arbitor?", I understand, you don't have a lot of background info. Maybe you didn't explore previous halo games for terminals or read the books. But check it out, if you are *posting* on this forum, all you have to do is put a keyword in the search function and your answers will magically appear cuz "fans" who have explored and have read have already answered most of these questions on the very forum you are posting on. it's too eazy. If you want to know the stages of AI rampancy, I can GUARANTEE you it's been delved into on this forum in great detail. If you want to know why there is some sort of love story between didact and the librarian, I GUARANTEE you it's been discussed on this forum. If you want to know why MC is fighting the covenant when UNSC had a truce after Halo 3, then stop posting. SERIOUSLY. stop posting and start searching.
  6. Hey guys, I've been going through the campaign to get the terminals, I've managed to find them all, got the achievement, and then proceeded to view them. I noticed that the last one has a code similar to the ones from combat anniversary, so I wrote the code down, and went to enter it into the waypoint terminal thing. However it comes up saying that no data was unlocked. I've been through the terminal video a few times to check if i got the code right. Which i did, and it still says no data unlocked. I'm just wondering if anyone else has had this problem, or if I'm missing something I dont know about yet. Please let me know.
