  1. It seems that Sony has no current plans to follow in Xbox's footsteps with a backwards compatibility update to their current gen console. Microsoft made a daring move this E3 with the announcement that over the next few years Xbox 360 titles will become playable on the Xbox One, and most expected their competitor Sony to do the same. Apparently not, as reported by GameSpot.com, Sony has no plans for a system of backwards compatibility on the PS4. They commented on the announcement, saying it must have been, "challenging" to pull it off. They said that their current system of compatibility, the PlayStationNOW subscription service, will stay in effect. "Backward compatibility is hard," Sony executive Shuhei Yoshida explained. "I won't say we'll never do it, but it's not an easy thing to do. If it was easy we would have done that." Shuhei also stated that Sony wanted to focus on building new experiences rather than holding on to older ones. 2. Sony has announced the list of games that will be available for the launch of the new PS4 console as well as the release date for the PS4 itself. It will be released in the US on November 15th and in Europe on November 29th 2013. There were additional announcements made regarding the PlayStation Vita which will receive a new price of €199 EU and $199 US. The new pricing goes into effect as of yesterday August 20th. Additionally, though no details were given, the high priced memory cards for the Vita will be significantly reduced, according to SCEE boss Jim Ryan. Sony also states that in addition to the Blu-ray and digital releases, it will also pre-install The Playroom on all PS4 consoles. This program teaches players how to use DualShock 4 controller and allows them to play various AR games using the PlayStation Camera, which is sold separately. Here is alist of games set for release with the PS4. 3. Some recent Console news for you! Recently, Playstation turned 20 years old! For this special occasion, Playstation will be turning one of their PS4's into a PS1, only in colors though! To go further on this topic, a recent GameSpot article said this, "Sony and Microsoft may be rivals in the console space, but that hasn't stopped top Xbox boss Phil Spencer from sending some well wishes to PlayStation for its recent 20th anniversary. @PlayStation Congrats on 20 years of success with PS. #20YearsOfPlay — Phil Spencer (@XboxP3) December 4, 2014 The PlayStation brand celebrated its 20th anniversary on Wednesday, following the Original PlayStation's release in Japan on December 3, 1994. The Xbox is a younger platform. It was initially introduced in 2001, meaning its 20th anniversary won't come until 2021. To celebrate the PlayStation's 20th anniversary, Sony earlier this week announced a limited-edition PlayStation 4 modeled after the Original PlayStation. Only 12,300 units will be made, and you'll be able to preorder one starting on Saturday, December 6." (http://www.gamespot.com/articles/top-xbox-boss-congratulates-sony-on-playstation-s-/1100-6423974/) I may not be the biggest fan of Playstation, but it makes me happy that gaming has gone this far!
  4. According to recent reports, a Bioshock Movie may now be back in production after the cancellation debacle, having over 3 sites registered to the trademark by Sony Entertainment. The Bioshock Movie suffered a depressing downfall many months ago, when it's Director Gore Verbinski wished for the film to be rated R, but the studio fired back, and both sides clashed leading to Gore leaving the project and it becoming cancelled. Now it seems Sony may have taken the rights, according to Kotaku.com first, one article mentions three different sites being registered by Sony Entertainment themselves, bioshock-movie.com, bioshock-movie.net, and bio-shock.net. Though, knowing Sony, we might unfortunately only get the pre-promised PG-13 version of Bioshock The Movie. Concept arts were also revealed on Jim Martin's website many months back, showcasing what the R rated film would've looked like. 5. Here are some of the latest details about the next gen Xbox and Playstation and explains the change of their codenames. All details below. Source: IGN While we've heard a range of speculation about the codenames of Sony and Microsoft's next-gen consoles, a new report is claiming to have outed them correctly for the first time, as well as revealing where their components are being manufactured. Be sure to remember that none of the below has been confirmed by either Sony or Microsoft so, until it is, take it all with a large pinch of salt. According to SemiAccurate, internal sources have revealed that Microsoft's next Xbox is is being developed as project "Kryptos". The report also asserts that, as we've heard previously, the AMD chip the console will run on is called Oban. Additionally, it seems that the manufacturing troubles with the chip that were threatening to derail the console's rumoured 2013 launch still haven't been cleared up, and Microsoft is running out of time to do so. While we've now heard about the Oban chip from several different sources, this is the first time that the "Kryptos" codename has been thrown into the mix. We've previously heard the next-gen Xbox referred to as Durango; indeed, development photos and a supposed early version of the dev kit for Microsoft's next console that was sold on eBay went under that moniker. So which is the real codename? Sadly, for now at least, we have no idea. Moving onto the console many are calling the PlayStation 4, it's apparently being referred to internally as project "Thebes". Once again, an AMD chip is meant to be at the centre of the console and this is planned to be produced at either Global Foundries or IBM. If true, this means the chip would enter production after Oban, meaning a projected release window for the PlayStation 4 would be sometime between spring and autumn 2013. Again this conflicts with some of the information we've previously heard; numerous sources have referred to the PS4 as Orbis. This new report doesn't offer much more in the way of what's inside Sony's next console, but thankfully we have an extensive report from November that offers quite a few unconfirmed details.

  9. Next gen Xbox and Playstation graphics impact will not be as big as the 360 & PS3? It may be the case. Read below for more details. Source: Examiner In an interview with VideoGamer on Tuesday, Cevat Yerli provided some interesting commentary in regards to the graphics of the PS4 and Xbox 720 next-generation systems. The CEO of Crytek revealed that the studio did not believe that the upcoming consoles won’t have the same visual impact as when the PS3 and Xbox 360 first launched. You can check out some concept renders of the PS4 and Xbox 720, as well as some screens from the upcoming multiplatform title, “Crysis 3,”. "The current generation consoles, when they launched, were far ahead compared to PC. But PC has caught up. With current generation consoles and what's on the horizon – new ones – due to the fact that the cost of CPU and memory are so much more expensive than they were in the past, it is simply impossible to have the same kind of impact on the console business; to be so far ahead of PC." View slideshow: Why PS4 and Xbox 720 won’t have the same graphics impact as PS3 and Xbox 360 Crytek is the developer behind “Crysis 3.” The latest video game from the “Crysis 3” will be published by Electronic Arts when it launches for the PC, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 gaming platforms in North America on Feb. 19, 2013. You can pre-order the first-person shooter in the following link: “Crysis 3” The PS4 and Xbox 720 consoles are expected by many to come out next year.
  10. It was announced today by Bungie that they had set the release date for Destiny for September 9th 2014. Below is an excerpt from the Bungie Weekly Update for 12/6/2013 and a news article from the site. Relevance of the Date The date falls almost 9 months to the day from this day.It is the 9th day of the 9th month of the year. This is a Tuesday in the second week of the month. There will be a full moon on that date. There appears to be no relevance with the date other than that unless there is some 'in house' reasoning for selecting it. It falls well before the shopping period for the Holidays and after the summer break for schools. Update excerpt This week, we set that date in stone: September 9th, 2014. In an interview with the community back in 2001, Jason Jones once lamented the inexorable tick of the clock. More recently, he reminded our studio just how valuable the coming months will be, and challenged the team to make every second of Destiny development count. It’s an exciting time to be at Bungie. The stage is set, and we’re going to make these moments matter. We believe Destiny will be worth the wait, and we’re anxious for the chance to prove it to you. News Article Since then, Destiny has continued to reveal its promise. Every new build brings us closer to our original vision. With those goals in sight, we intend to use every moment from now until the release of the game to ensure that Destiny lives up to your expectations, and our own. Today, in partnership with Activision, we are proud to announce that the worldwide launch of Destiny will happen on September 9th. Accordingly, the Destiny Beta will kick off in the summer of 2014, available first on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3. The early support and enthusiasm for Destiny has been inspiring and humbling. We believe this is the right decision for our game, our studio, and our passionate community. Thank you for coming along with us on this adventure. See you starside. 12. In a news story recently posted by CVG Tom Ivan reports Sony's Play Station division has had a significant decrease in sales in the last fiscal year that ended on March 31st. Though the Sony itself managed a profit by earning a $435 million dollar net income that is compared to loosing nearly $4.66 billion the year before. Here is the complete story as reported by Tom Ivan below. <<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>> PlayStation income sinks by £180m Decrease in PSP sales and Vita price cut blamed By Tom Ivan for CVG UK "Sony's PlayStation business has posted a notable drop in sales and operating income for the financial year ended March 31." "As expected, Sony Corporation managed to swing to a profit for the first time in five years, recording net income of £280m ($435m) compared to a loss of £3 billion a year earlier. However, the company's games business has struggled in the past year. PlayStation unit sales fell by about 12 per cent year-on-year to £4.6 billion ($7bn), largely due to softening demand for PS3 and PSP, as well as its underperforming Vita business. This led to a fall in operating income by about £180m ($280m), ending up at £11 million ($17m). Sony said the significant drop was primarily due to the handheld business, citing PSP decline and February's Vita price cut in Japan. Sony sold 16.5 million PS3s and PS2s during the financial year, down by about 1.5 million units compared to last year. Meanwhile the corporation sold 154 million home console games, down from 164.5 million. Annual Vita and PSP unit sales totalled seven million, slightly up on last year, though portable software sales declined from 32.2 million to 28.8 million. For the year ahead, Sony expects PlayStation sales to "increase significantly" due to the PS4 release. Operating income is expected to be essentially flat due to an increase in PS4 R&D and marketing expenses. Sony revealed its PS4 in February, when it confirmed a PS4 release date of "holiday 2013". Kaz Hirai is among 40 management executives at the company who will surrender their bonuses - worth up to 50 per cent of their salary - after the firm's consumer electronics business failed to turn an annual profit."
  13. A playstation 4 reveal is set to be held on February 20th, quite a bit of time before E3 which will be held within the first week of June. This article is from CVG A post and video on the PlayStation firm's official blog invites fans to "see the future" at an event set for February 20 at 6pm EST. Sony has also launched a countdown website with the tagline "be the first to know". CVG understands invites have been sent to media and investors for a 'PlayStation Meeting' in New York City on the same date. A first unveiling of PlayStation 4 - or 'Orbis' - would fit with CVG sources' indications this month that Sony would unveil its new console "in weeks", well ahead of June's E3 fanfare. In January 2011, Sony held a similar PlayStation Meeting event in Japan to officially announce the PS Vita, before revealing fuller details at E3 several months later. CVG has been informed by development sources that the next Xbox will also be announced in some form before E3, but further leaks of information are not likely. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=d-3GMHIgR-U 'Orbis' has been the subject of an increasing number of high profile 'leaks' in recent weeks, including more than one alleged system specifications dossier. In January senior games studio sources told CVG the next PlayStation will utilise a brand new controller, and that versions featuring a biometric sensor and LCD touch screen have been tested. According to a recent Kotaku report, PS4 will support "multi-user simultaneous logins", allowing multiple users to be signed into accounts simultaneously on a single console. Other mooted features include a rebranded PlayStation Home-style social network and a prevention measure against pre-owned games. Sony has publicly suggested that the next PlayStation will not go on sale before Microsoft's Xbox 360 successor, although one senior CVG source called the suggestion "ridiculous" considering the ground Microsoft gained by launching the 360 a year before PlayStation 3.
  14. 15. Upon further reflection on the information brought to light at E3 I have to say both the Xbox One and the PS4 are about the same. Specs for both systems are essentially the same. The PS4 is slightly better but not substantially and developers aren't going to bother taking advantage of the slightly increased 'power' of the PS4 anyway, not cross-platform games at least. Both systems aren't particularly impressive to look at: Remember when the original Xbox came out? That thing was a behemoth but it was great, so stop complaining about how they both look internet. The PS4 controller has a touch screen but how much would that cost? And why would you need it really? For better or worse the Xbox One also comes with the Kinect whilst the PS4 you have to pay extra for the PS Eye. Either way you have to pay extra, but pricing is later. Software limitations wise the PS4 wins hands-down I have to admit. They have given straight yes/no answers: " ‘yes’ - the PS4 would be free of limitations on used games, that ‘no’ - there would be no need for online connections, and, a bonus, that ‘yes’ - the console would even be region-free (the Xbox One is not)." -independent.co.uk Whilst Xbox One has given sort of answers. ‘Kind of’ - the One would have limitations on used games, confusing ones that are difficult to understand. That ‘some times’ - there would be a need for online connections, also confusing, right now the consensus is every 24 hours for some reason. That ‘no' - the console wouldn't even be region-free (only straight answer) But actual software features wise I think the One wins. Sure you can watch tv on your tv but why complain if the One offers you the ability to watch tv through it with added features? You can instantly switch between tasks and I hear you ask "Why would I need such a thing?" Well it appears both the PS4 and the One are on a vendetta against loading screens: Now the Ones ability seems better, I hate waiting for a match to start and it is a novel way of distraction away from loading screens, a hell of a lot better then watching a little circle spinning around or watching the words 'Looking for players' for 5 minutes. Games wise (as in exclusives) same ol' same ol'. Nothing really impressive. Halo 5 but eh. Titanfall (One) looks pretty ok. The Order (PS4) looks pretty ok as well though. Pricing. Once again the PS4 wins over the One. $399 in the US and £349 in the UK and $549 in AU are the prices for the PS4. $499 in the US and £429 and $599 in AU are the prices for the Xbox One. As stated above you get the Kinect (even if you don't want it) with the One but have to pay extra for the PS Eye thingy so take that in to account and still PS4 wins. I can see both consoles selling rather slowly this year. They are probably going to have some sort of price drop (like the PS3 when it got released. Didn't sell, to high a price). This is just an extra thing but what de hell is with the price inflation in AU. An extra >$100. Shipping to AU and the Us would cost about the same. Sure the AU tax would be slightly higher but take that into account and it should only be a price rise of say $30. And the Au is equal to the US at the moment. I is bitter. The only real difference between the PS4 and the One has been marketing. 'Relevant applications and uses to our gamers' - PS4 conference (round about what the guy said) The PS4 has come out of the gated screaming to the heavens and all that will listen that the PS4 is designed for the gamers by the game developers (unlike the PS3 which screwed over indie devs, smell damage control). They claim to have gone to devs and asked what they would like and apparently designed the PS4 with that in mind (yet it end up essentially the same as the One). Those links up there show PS4 marketing it specs, using words like '1.84 Teraflops' and 'eight x86-64 core' to confuse most people into believing that the PS4 has alien tech and witchcraft inside it. But how much praise has actually been given to the PS4? It has mostly been the One sucks therefore PS4 better. 'Introducing the all-in-one entertainment system.' -Xbox One conference (similar to) The Xbox One has been market as 'the Xbox experience'. They don't just want you gaming on the One, they want you using the One for all entertainment needs. Movies, tv, internet activity, you name it the One is trying to deliver. They have also targeted mass public appeal over the PS4 'for gamers' approach. And really who can blame the One for its motives? It is initiative and the 360 got a lot more public appeal when they updated the home screen and added apps. The One is just taking it a step further before Sony or Nintendo has the chance to. The One has been criticized for being ambiguous but if successful the One will have set a new precedent for home gaming and entertainment. Also about all the blow-back the One has received it has just become the new thing to ***** about the One. The internet goes through crazes and this is just the current one. The first conference was a disaster gamers wise but before the event Microsoft sent out press releases stating the event was going to be concentrated on family appeal and the multimedia capabilities. They were saving the gaming for E3, which was a smart move that people took out of context. But you notice how now one has praised the PS4 for being epic, they have just insulted the One for being not good. Now after all that I hope I swayed the opinions of the seven of you that actually took the time to read through that. I think the conclusion is that everyone should hold of on buying the new consoles and voice complaints. The limitations imposed by Microsoft on the One (which are the main problem in regards to the One) can be easily reverted with patches if enough people voice their concerns. The prices of both will be reduced if enough people voice complaints on the price. I think I will end this with a quote, “Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.” ― Dr.Seuss
  16. With Microsoft and Sony both announcing their next generation consoles, we're already starting to see the competition between the two developing companies over the better console naturally. "The PS4 is a great video game console that appeals to video gamers." - Kaz Hirai. At D11, Sony CEO Kazuo Hirai told reporters that this was significant because they wanted to convey the message that the PS4 was mainly made for video gamers. Hirai did say that Sony would be showing off more of the features that are not focused on video gaming but that it would come later. We have a big E3 to look forward to this year. Kaz Hirai would like the Gaming Community to know that, "...[The PS4 is] first and foremost a video game console."1 So far, Microsoft has shown the Xbox One to be a family entertainment, full living room experience. It showed more focus on its features that were not gaming. Sony on the other hand, presented many game demos for the PlayStation 4 and put the focus on the gaming. So the question is, who's doing it better? 1 - Soure - The Verge

Kaz Hirai is among 40 management executives at the company who will surrender their bonuses - worth up to 50 per cent of their salary - after the firm's consumer electronics business failed to turn an annual profit." 19. The PS4 will be delayed until early 2014 for Europe as Sony released some of their other hardware late in Europe but plans for a 2013 release for the US and Japan still seem to be intact. More details below This article is from Gamingbolt Sources have told Edge that the PS4 will indeed be releases in Japan and the United States at the end of this year, but that it will miss a 2013 European release date and come out in the region early in 2014. This might just happen. Sony has had a history of releasing some of their hardware late in Europe, a la the PSP and the PS Vita (which released late in US too). Edge also detailed several new features that the PS4 will boast of, according to its source, in its article. The first one was an improved version of the PS Eye. The PS4 will also ship with a redesigned controller. “[it will be] the same size as an existing DualShock but features a small touchpad in place of the existing Select, Start and PS buttons,” reads the reports. “The tech is based on Vita’s rear touchpad, and is similarly responsive in use.” “A new Share button on the controller will, when pressed, launch a new feature that will allow screenshots and video to be distributed online,” the article added. “The PS4 hardware will continually record the most recent 15 minutes of onscreen action (with no processing penalty, claims our source), which users will then be able to edit and broadcast via the Internet.” The PS4 is likely to be announced on February 20th.
  20. Sony has publicly suggested that the next PlayStation will not go on sale before Microsoft's Xbox 360 successor, although one senior CVG source called the suggestion "ridiculous" considering the ground Microsoft gained by launching the 360 a year before PlayStation 3. 21. This article is from Now Gamer. All credit to Sykowolf for finding this. Rumours surrounding the Xbox 720 and the PS4 are coming thick and fast these days - all part of the exciting build up to next-gen, naturally - but the latest tech specs revealed by an insider could be the most detailed yet. An industry insider - it's not clear if they are a developer or someone else - has revealed a number of specific details about both the PS4 and the Xbox 720. Though these things should always be taken with a pinch of salt until something official is announced, the technicality and sheer wealth of the information certainly makes them sound convincing - especially when they collaborate so many previous rumours. We'll include a technical glossary at the bottom of the page should you need to understand all acronyms. Sony's PS4 won't be capable of native 4K resolution According to the insider, the PS4 (or Omni) won't be capable of the proposed 4K resolution that new TVs are being developed for. "The thing about omni is it will upscale to 4K" claims the insider, adding that the image quality is "very low in regards to Durango [Xbox 720]". PS4 is having problems with overheating Though the insider does not seem to have seen the issues himself, he does mention that he had heard others claim that the "Starsha [dev] kits have very bad heating problems" because the GPU and the SOC aren't specialised enough - as is the case wit the Xbox 720. He then adds that he believes it is because Sony doesn't have enough money to devote to research and development, as it had done with the PS3's Cell processor. The PS4 will be called "Omni" and is in production soon Throughout the reveal the insider refers to Sony's PS4 with two names: Starsha and Omni. Starsha has been revealed as the name of the APU system inside the PS4. However, Omni is now believed to be the final name of the PS4. This was a rumour back in November 2012, and was said to represent Sony's approach to the console - namely, that it is capable of doing everything. The insider claimed that the final SDK for Sony's PS4 - or Omni - has been available since December 2012, adding that Sony is trying to launch its next-gen console ahead of Microsoft. The Starsha chipset is in fabrication process now, and is expected to enter mass production on the 23rd of January. As a point of interest, the insider claimed that Microsoft has only just got the Kryptos (Xbox 720) out to developers at the start of this month. If true, the rumours suggesting that Sony's next-gen console will launch as early as September 2013 could well be true. Along these lines, the insider claimed that Sony could reveal the PS4 on 5 Feb 2013. Xbox 720's "Oban" is a game changer for Microsoft The name Oban was revealed a couple of months back, and was believed to be the name of the chips onboard the Xbox 720. According to this insider, however, Oban is actually the name of the blitter inside the next-gen machine. A blitter is a system built into hardware designed to improve the speed at which data is transferred within the hardware's memory. It is a separate system from the CPU and can run parallel to it, moving large amounts of data relatively quickly. The Xbox 720 will be a 356-bit system - compared to the PS4's 256-bit system - and is capable of 550GB of data per second. The insider claims it is designed for raytracing, and with the Oban and the higher bus speed of the GPU this will put it on top in terms of technical prowess. Xbox 720 is designed for ray tracing technology Ray tracing is a high-end lighting technology that isn't widely used in games today. Unlike the current dynamic lighting system - which recreates the effects of lighting - ray tracing emulates the science of light. In other words, more realistic reflections and refractions can be created to create more realistic looking lighting. The problem is it's a very intensive technology that takes a very long time to render and is primarily used in Pixar films. If the Xbox 720 is as powerful as this suggests, then ray tracing will be more possible with the hardware. The insider claims that Microsoft has designed the Xbox 720 with ray tracing in mind, however admits that "the hardest part will be for studios to work with ray traced graphics enabled engines." For those interested, here's a video of last year's GTC conference where NVidia highlighted some of its ray tracing technology: PS4 Tech Specs An APU with a fast GPU. 4GB of DDR3 RAM. 4GB of GDDR5 RAM. 23. Firstly sorry I have been inactive with the news the past few weeks I have been busy with the family the Christmas and all and I had some Internet problems too also the latest gaming news has been pretty slow over the holidays and nothing much has been reported, again sorry for the inactivity. So on with the news. It has been said that Sony will be making second hand games not playable on the PS4 by filing a patent and will verify if a game has been used on another console. This may indicate that the PS4 may also not be backward compatible as well as restrictions to PS4 games. So no more preowned games? Will friends not even be able to loan each other games? Will microsoft be going down the same road for the next gen Xbox? Read more about what Sony is doing with this below This article is from Gamingbolt. Sony has filed for a new patent which will restrict second hand game sales if it is granted since the tech attempts to verify if a game has been used before on another console or not.The patent reveals a lot of information about how they will suppress second hand game sales and while it’s a bit complicated we will attempt to explain it a bit for you. First here’s why the patent was filed for via Gamechup and Free Patents Online. “In such a scheme where the electronic content is bought and sold in the second-hand markets or the like, the sales proceeds resulting therefrom are not redistributed to the developers. Also, since the users who have purchased the second-hand items are somehow no longer potential buyers of the content, the developers would lose their profits otherwise gained in the first place,” the patent reads. What it suggests is that, developers are losing revenue on second-hand game sales and it’s something that cannot be eliminated unless it is stopped at the core. The tech needs to be implemented in a way that prevents the game from loading before a check is completed. What check? Here’s an explanation. Consider, for example, a case where used is a game package 200 distributed in the second-hand market. Then the ID of reproduction device for the game disk 210 differs from the legitimate use device ID stored in the use permission tag 220, so that the game disk can be reproduced in a mode which is predetermined for those bought and sold in the second-hand market. Also, for example, a content key may be supplied to the reproduction device 130 and the encrypted game AP may be decrypted using the content key only if the reproduction device ID matches a legitimate use device ID. Hence, use of game APs bought and sold in the second-hand market can be eliminated.
  24. The next generation systems from both PlayStation and Microsoft will retail at the $350-$400 range, a games analyst has claimed. This article is from CVG Basing his numbers partially on off-the-record meetings with "a number of companies" at CES 2013, analyst Colin Sebastian of Baird Equity Research said the new consoles will likely sit around the $400 range. In 2005, Microsoft retailed its Xbox 360 premium bundle at $400, while one year later Sony was at the centre of controversy for offering the premium PS3 system at $599. The rumoured next-gen price points, if accurate, would imply that both Sony and Microsoft are willing to sell their systems at higher losses to appear to an increasingly diversified market. "Given the fragile state of the console game market, we expect the E3 trade show in June will take on added significance, most likely providing the industry with the first public opportunity to examine next-generation hardware," Sebastian wrote in his notes. "Our checks suggest that next-generation console hardware will be largely built from 'off the shelf' high-end PC components, along with hybrid physical/digital distribution models, enhanced voice controls and motion sensing (Kinect integration with every Xbox), and broad multi-media capabilities," he added. "Moreover, a PC-based architecture (Intel chips in the case of Xbox) should have a number of advantages over custom-developed silicon: for one, the learning curve for software developers will be shorter than completely new technology. "Second, the cost of production and retail price points should be lower than prior console launches. "Third, it will be easier to build online services around PC chip architecture, including flexible business models (free-to-play, subscriptions) and multi-media (over the top) content offerings. For Microsoft, this design will also allow for moreintegration with Windows 8 and Windows Mobile devices."
