It is of course a re-imagining of the classic game: Myst. In the past, I’ve recreated great landmarks and cities from other video game genre’s but this is the first time that I’ve been able to fully recreate (albeit having some limitations of budget and scripting) an entire game. I did my best to keep all the aesthetics as close as possible to the original, with a few alterations here and there in order to seamlessly weave halo’s mechanics with my puzzles. For those of you who have never played Myst before, this puzzle map usually takes people around 45-60 minutes to complete. I hope you enjoy your time on my island. Make sure to check out the “Important Tips” section below before you proceed. Isle of Myst: The Story You’ve discovered a magical book that instantly transports you to the deserted Isle of Myst, where you must solve the island’s puzzles in order to discover the underlying dark secrets. In their travels, players will visit four different worlds known as “Ages”. Located through portals, you’ll visit the Mechanical Age, Channelwood Age, Stoneship Age, and Selenitic Age. Your goal is to collect 1 red and 1 blue page from each age to complete the respective books located in the island’s library. These “linking” books are traps that hold two dangerous sons of Atrus, Sirrus and Achenar. It is up to you if you decide to free them or not. You will know it’s the end when you see the “win” symbol. Good luck escaping the island! Cheers! *Important Tips* - Again the goal is to find the missing red and blue pages located in each Age in order to escape. - Make sure to turn your VOLUME UP! There is a puzzle that relies on sound in order to solve them. - Be patient, once you figure out how the island works puzzles will start to make more sense More pics! 2. Hey all, I am creating this post because my friend and I do a weekly show called Forgetastic Fridays where we pick user created maps, we then run around the maps and showcase them. We are looking for anyone that would like to submit their Forge maps, they can be any type of map (4v4, 8v8, Slayer, Infection, Puzzle, etc). And we would love to be able to have the user in the show with us explaining why they did this etc. If you would like to submit your map just leave your GT, and the name of the map. Or you can send me a message on XBL, my GT is Sgt Gnomes, and just let me know the name of the map you would like to submit. I hope to hear from you! Heres an example of what we do:
  3. After being hit by an unknown source, you and your crew are forced to crash land on a nearby planet. You took the only escape pod on the Pelican and landed safely on the ground. You soon realize that you have no idea where you are and that there is little to no chance of making it back to civilization. After looking around you discover that a lot of tools have fallen off the ship before the crash. There just might be a way off the planet after all... 9. Alright, here is the second puzzle, which is much harder than the first. This requires spacial analysis skills and plenty of scratch paper. Good luck! Goal: Simple enough, connect dots 1, 2, and 3 with 4, 5, and 6. (ie 1 connects with 4, 5,and 6; 2 with 4, 5, and 6; and 3 with 4, 5, and 6) The lines must be separate (ie, one line for each of 1's connections). Rules: 1. You cannot cross, merge, or split lines. Curved lines are ok. 2. You cannot "run" a line through another dot. (ie direct lines, so once a line reaches a dot, it ends) 3. You can not have wormholes, teleporters, time machines, etc, in your solution.
  10. I am really, dumbfounded, no one had correctly answered the second puzzle until today. Jl1223 solved it one way. The other way is to tape the sides of the paper together in a tube shape and attempt it, drawing on the back as well. It really took a lot of brainpower. To see his solution: http://www.343industries.org/forum/topic/27425-forum-mind-puzzles-2/page-2 This edition of mind puzzles has a practical implication to it. It may just save your life, or save you from serious injuries. The Puzzle: Suppose you are on an elevator on the 16th floor of a building, when the cable holding the elevator breaks. As you plummet toward the ground, you recall that you once heard that by jumping up fast at the instant of impact, you can escape death. You also recall that the floors are twelve feet apart and that the acceleration of a falling object is 32 feet per second squared. When should you jump?
  11. Puzzle #2 still unsolved: http://www.343industries.org/forum/topic/27425-forum-mind-puzzles-2/ The following is a proof that 2 equals 1. a = b aa = ab aa-bb = ab- bb (a+b ) (a-b ) = b (a-b ) a+b = b b+b = b (since a=b ) 2b = b 2 = 1 Now what's wrong with this? Solved by Jl1223 X on 4/21/13
  12. With no one solving the still unsolved second puzzle http://www.343industries.org/forum/topic/27425-forum-mind-puzzles-2/ I am forced to continue on without a correct solution. The third puzzle involves reasoning, and comprehension of cause and effect. There is a story of three Russian professors who were going to be executed for spreading Democratic ideas in Soviet Russia during the 30's. Stalin decided to make an example of them, by giving the professors a chance to walk free - a fair Democratic chance in a dictator run Communist country. Unknown if this actually occured, but widely believed to be from 50's Red Scare propaganda. The puzzle: Stalin has the professors lined up before him in a large room. Before him are five identical hats, except for their respective colors. Three are black, and two are white. The professors are blindfolded, and turned 90 degrees to the right. One hat is put on top of each of the men, and the remaining hats are put into a opaque bag. The professors' blindfolds are taken off. There are no mirrors or reflective objects in the room, and there are only the five hats (three on the professors and 2 in the bag. Stalin tells them that if any one of them correctly states the color of the hat on top of his own head (the man answering that is), all three of them are free to go, but if they answer incorrectly, the three men would die. The men were not allowed to talk or move or make any gestures except for when answering. No one was allowed talk to them or communicate in any way, and the room contains no hints. After a few minutes pass, the third professor correctly states the color of his hat, "my hat is black", but he did not guess. How did he know the color of his hat? (please give a lengthy response, with all reasoning explained) Also: The professors are arranged as such (> means the professor is looking in that direction): 1> 2> 3> Good luck! Solution found by JI1223 X on 4/8/13. Nice job!
  13. Hey everyone, It's been quite a while since I've been on any gaming forum. It's been even longer since I've created a Saw map. For those of you who played custom games back in Halo 3, you may remember the Saw maps. They have been featured on the front page of Bungie.net, and even got on Bungie's Favorites. After a long hiatus, I've finally completed the latest Saw map, Saw: Quarantine. I plan to hype this map quite a bit, as I need to get a fan base together once again. Once the map has been thoroughly play tested, I plan to release a trailer for it, and then release the actual map soon after. That is where YOU come in. I need new testers, fresh minds. People who are good are critical thinking and who don't give up easily. I assure you the puzzle is of high quality, and contains many things that have never been seen in puzzle maps before. Are you in? Simply post a reply to this thread in order to have a shot at play testing Saw: Quarantine.
