Name: Collection Gamertag: YamaMX Gametypes: Slayer (2v2, 1v1, x4 FFA), CTF Collection is a different type of challenge than my other forge works in that I'm working around pre-determined areas to allow them to work outside of their intended element. The result is a small competitive map that has official visual standards not possible within the forge templates, yet forge is put to work in order to allow the intended competitive play. The other challenge in doing so comes from the lack of any forge pieces to work with and forcing these substitutes to work in a manner not to be detrimental to visual fidelity. This allows greater movement around the map without the ability to camp an exit.
  2. I know a lot of people missed Assault in Halo 4. Well, I think I have found a way to bring it back. If you think about it, Grifball was a modified Assault gametype. So, it's possible that we can make Assault in Halo 4 using Grifball as a base gametype. We'd have to change the team weapons, scoring, and Carrier traits--but I believe it's possible. And if it turns out that all if this is a load of headlight fluid, please do not call me a shizno; it's been a while since I've been able to play Halo 4. So I need one of you to build the gametype for me. If the idea works, then hopefully people will realize that 343 didn't give us such a limited game; we just have to use our imagination.

Having spent the best part of the last decade playing various incarnations of Halo with a good friend, predominantly in double team playlists: the team doubles update of last weekend was a very welcome addition to my Halo 4 matchmaking list. I'm aware it's in its infancy and is probably still open to a little tweaking here or there, but my following complain still stands. Around ten minutes ago I finished up a session of team doubles, around ten or more games. Seven of those ten were "Doubles Pro" (Essentially 'MLG', no radar, no armour abilities, no perks etc.), and in three of those pre-game voting menus, all three options had been Doubles Pro. Leaving no choice of alternative game types. I don't mind occasionally playing a stripped back game such as Pro playlists. Often it can be fun to shirk all the additions and play a simple, straight up death-match. However, it becomes very tedious when it's time after time, game after game, with very little variation or choice. I've never really understood the fascination with "MLG" and players claiming to be 'pro', anyway. How does one become a professional whilst playing a recreational game in their own home? I don't think I will ever understand why folk buy a game such as Halo 4 (which is flush with additional material to your bog standard shooters - armour abilities, armour upgrades, stylistic unlockables, perks, professions etc.) and then go out of their way to play only stripped back games. Even less do I understand why these same people have the tenacity to then chastise those who wish to play the full game to its potential. (You may recall being hounded out as a "Jetpack ***" etc. if you didn't use sprint only in Halo Reach). So why have 343 went to the effort of constructing a game wherein we can adapt, evolve and sculpt our characters into our own little machines, only to strip us of being able to play with them in the majority of matchmaking? It seems counterproductive to me, and downright infuriating when I've carefully chosen loadouts and skillsets beforehand. Yes, I'm aware this post will offend the droves of close-minded, set-in-their-ways, fat, middle-aged men called Bert who hold both the appeal and personality of a homophobic boulder. I expect to be informed about my mother's promiscuity and my subsequent homosexual lifestyle, in response to this post. Intelligence is clearly an afterthought with the Halo community. Although, that suggests thought at all.
  4. Gamertag: SunnyD In A Jug Map Name/Type: Impulse, arena slayer pro style map Player suggested capacity: 6-12 Description: Impulse is a ravine forged map. It is purposed to be a 4v4 team slayer pro or 4v4 capture the flag map. it can hold up to 6v6 amounts on the teams. Spawn points are spread out evenly throughout the map including a team respawn zone that way spawns arent random. Impulse is a completely symmetrical map. it consists of 2 snipers rifles every 120 secs, 1 rocket launcher every 180 secs, a railgun and sticky det every 90 secs. This map is awesome!!   5. Whats going on?! i recently just made a map named Impulse. it is a competitive map that is arena based. its set up for FFA slayer, up to 6v6 Team slayer, and up to 6v6 ctf. One day we will. Yeah," he said. "We've had people approach us about it. Right now we want to focus on partners with games like PlanetSide 2 and help them broaden out and take advantage of what we’ve built." "But we can also take advantage of their understanding of the game mechanics. We've done this with folks at Bungie, with folks at Activision. We've done it with lots of studios. We've done that enough times to have the understanding to take to our own title, eventually." No firm plans are in place just yet for the MLG-developed game, but DiGiovanni said he hopes it would "disrupt" the current state of play. "The thing is, I think it would have to be derivative of a few things. I loved Quake, and I've played a lot of Counter-Strike and fighting games," DiGiovanni said. "The perfect game for me is something that would disrupt a little. I've always dreamed of a multi-screen experience where you have players and coaches interacting and having touch surfaces and communication, but that's so complicated and hard to explain." Name: Serenity Gamertag: YamaMX Gametypes: Slayer (1v1, 2v2, x4 FFA) Please watch the video in full to understand the mindset behind the map and it's many intricacies: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=whnR7fBEnjg Serenity was originally designed due to the lack of smaller maps featured in Halo Reach and the inability to play proper and exciting 1v1 matches. Fast forward to Halo 4 and while this problem isn't quite as prevalent, it is apparent. The main objective of Serenity is fast paced smaller matches that allow the player to both out think the competition as well as out shoot. The result is a map that has many ways about going into and out of various areas, most of which require precision jumps that become second nature. The thrust ability in Halo 4 allows players to manipulate the pre-existing lift in ways not possible in Reach. This allows better movement around the map and the outplaying of your opponent. Through literal years of play testing now (counting Reach), the map has proved it's place in my group as a standard for 1v1 sets and the like. Areas can be held down like any good map, though there is not one spot a player can easily hold due to area advantage. What makes this map a joy to play for any competitive player is that it aids a high level mindset, it doesn't diminish it. Like any competitive map, absolute flow is achieved by practicing and understanding the maps intricacies, only then will it be fully understood and appreciated.

  11. With the 2v2 playlist penciled in for early February, this is a good time for the community to discuss what would work best. This should help buff 2v2's worth in matchmaking. - - - As we know, 2v2's are a staple within competitive Halo play. Being a competitive player myself, I also understand the balance of simplicity and complexity necessary to allow such maps to work within a 2v2 environment. In this thread we will discuss why a map could or could not work for 2v2's. Please list pro's and con's for each map presented and we will collectively add them to the OP in hopes of achieving a near perfect experience in Halo 4's future 2v2 playlist. If there is a community map presented, please share the corresponding gamertag and as much info/media as you can. A link to a post with media would be best. Below are a few to get started, please share your input and we'll amend the list in a unified manner based on community feedback. I will list various maps below and a consensus category next to each, showing how we collectively feel about each one. While the game is marginally faster than it's predecessors, the size is perfectly fitting in a 2v2 environment and all of the jumps, line of sight, etc. would need to be retained.   12. As you may have heard, the CSR (Competitive Skill Ranking) System is set to drop early 2013. But 343 is undecided about weather or not to give you a fresh start and start at skill level 1, or put skill ranks in based on what you already have done. 343 says they are tracking your skill rank right now, but just haven't implemented the skill system in yet so you can't see it. Personally, I think keeping the skill ranks instead of resetting it is a terrible idea. First off we don't know what playlists are competitive and which are social. Next, all playlists have Join in Progress. If the Skill system if based off if you win or lose (which it better be) than having people joining and quiting your match could completely mess up your skill rank. And last of all, the game is defiantly not developed enough to start tracking skill. As the game stands now, there are many problems that could interfere with your wins and loses. None of this would really matter, except your skill can get very hard to change if you get incosietant with your wins and loses. Let's say you win a few here, the lose a few there, and overall are just unpredictable winning/losing games. If that has happened then the skill rank can seem to be really hard to move up or down in either direction. A more explained look at the system can be found here: http://www.bungie.net/forums/posts.aspx?postid=14414600 In short, it basically states that inconsistansy = slow rank movement up and down, and vise versa. And since I'm sure most off you had been playing with randoms you probably have already been very inconsistent, and a fresh start would be a much better option for you in that. I'm not for sure saying that's how the CSR system will work, but they are sticking to something very similiar to the old trueskill system. Other concearns I have that we should tell 343 to do is tell them that they shouldn't make your skill rank only visible on Halo Waypoint, which is currently what they plan on doing. They should also keep it win/lose based and not personal stat based system. This is because Halo is a very team based game, and personal stats can't detect your callouts, teamwork, etc. I made this thread so we can make sure 343 makes a great system, because honestly the fate of the Halo series depends on it.

  14. This thread is for the upcoming Halo 4 MLG tournament in Dallas this November 2nd through the 4th. You can discuss the upcoming event here, and post any comments or feelings about it. To avoid any confusion, yes it is before the actual release date which is November 6th. Obviously there isn't a favorite team yet to win yet, but the crowd favorite is sure to be Instinct; consisting of Roy, Lunchbox, Ogre 2, and IGotUrPistola.   18. Why is there still no MLG 343 this game is getting boring now, there is no competition or skill. First there is no MLG and then you take off Slayer Pro the only games type that is a little bit competitive . Who else agrees that we need MLG, Slayer Pro and Doubles so the game can be way more fun. -Please comment maybe 343 will see this and add some good gametypes

A lot of my childhood was spent inside the halo 1 multiplayer maps. At lans we always rotated certain maps and left out others. I believe I have brought you guys a map that kid would want to play. I think this map truely is an amalgamation of all the maps I loved as a kid. I followed a simple fun layout with great long range lines of sight while keeping it intense with lifts, teleporters, skill jumps and a high middle ground. I took everything to bare bones to accomadate for a lagless gameplay I removed the roof and stuck to an efficient floor plan. I have fun just jumping around and playing on my lift setup not to mention mlg gameplay. It is medium sized, symmetrical clean.
