  1. Microsoft has begun taking applications to join a new development team to work within its Xbox division. This new development team seems to be primarily focused on dealing with systems relating to the Kinect and the enhancement thereof. After reading the full job listing one can come to the conclusion that Microsoft is looking for a strong team that can push the Kinect to its limits. Microsoft also seems to realize that the future of Xbox gaming may not lie in the Kinect as can be seen in this excerpt in the job listing: "If you want a comfortable, standard-role job at Microsoft with no ambiguity or risk, please don’t apply." Still, this listing implies Microsoft is looking to greatly enhance the experience provided by the Kinect. "But if you’re passionate about the potential for Kinect to continue to revolutionize entertainment and are a seasoned software engineer with the skills to prototype and build the future of premium Kinect-powered experiences, we have a growing team of talented people who want to take entertainment into the future." To read the full job listing, CLICK HERE. What do you think of this job listing? Should we expect to see another Kinect or more Kinect features in the future? Leave your thoughts in the comments below. Thanks for reading! SOURCE: MICROSFT CAREERS; IGN View full article
  2. Microsoft will offering unlimited cloud storage for the Xbox one a MaximunPC article states. The news came out of PAX Australia, here is what a Microsoft rep said about it. "Xbox Live offers Xbox One unlimited storage space in the cloud for all Xbox Live members to store numerous types of Xbox Live content, including your profile, games, Achievements and entertainment. This content is stored and saved in the cloud so you can automatically access it anywhere, anytime, no matter where you are." With the change of policies such as removing the used games restrictions the Xbox one has slowly but surely been getting back on track and with another positive announcement it will certainly help improve it's reputation a bit more.
  3. Here is an update on the latest about the fee on wanting to play a preowned games on the Xbox One, and it's looking grim. Microsoft's Phil Harrison mentions that within one household only one XBOX can play any given game or you have to purchase it again. So in a house that has 4 XBOX One's for example, they would have to purchase the original game plus three more digital copies of it. $240.00 paid for one game in one house This article is from Eurogamer on their interview with Phil Harrison trying to explain this situation. Thanks to AD for finding this article. Whether or not you agree with Microsoft's ideas and goals for Xbox One, at least they are generally pretty easy to understand. The one exception today has been how game ownership works and especially the Xbox One's attitude to sharing between friends and reselling games, which has resulted in conflicting and confusing reports. The confusion is such that as I sat transcribing and making notes four hours after I interviewed Phil Harrison earlier today, a Microsoft PR tapped me on the shoulder and invited me back to the boardroom so that Harrison could take another swing at explaining this surprisingly complex issue. "So, think about how you use a disc that you own of an Xbox 360 game," he began. "If I buy the disc from a store, I use that disc in my machine, I can give that disc to my son and he can play it on his 360 in his room. We both can't play at the same time, but the disc is the key to playing. I can go round to your house and give you that disc and you can play on that game as well." "What we're doing with the digital permissions that we have for Xbox One is no different to that. If I am playing on that disc, which is installed to the hard drive on my Xbox One, everybody in my household who has permission to use my Xbox One can use that piece of content. [so] I can give that piece of content to my son and he can play it on the same system." Harrison then explained what happens when you want to take that game beyond the borders of your own home and into a friend's place. "I can come to your house and I can put the disc into your machine and I can sign in as me and we can play the game," he explained. "The bits are on your hard drive. At the end of the play session, when I take my disc home - or even if I leave it with you - if you want to continue to play that game [on your profile] then you have to pay for it. The bits are already on your hard drive, so it's just a question of going to our [online] store and buying the game, and then it's instantly available to play." "The bits that are on the disc, I can give to anybody else, but if we both want to play it at the same time, we both have to own it. That's no different to how discs operate today." That makes the issue of game ownership a lot clearer than it has been at any point so far. Once you install a game, it is tied to your Xbox login, and in this way Microsoft can avoid scenarios where you buy a game, install it, then just give the disc to all your friends so they can install and play it without paying for it. The next issue is what happens when you finish with a game and want either to trade it in at a store or sell it on in another way. "We will have a system where you can take that digital content and trade a previously played game at a retail store," Harrison said. "We're not announcing the details of that today, but we will have announced in due course." Harrison would not be drawn on how this worked, even as I suggested various scenarios. For example, I asked whether you would need to pay for the second-hand disc at a store and then pay a fee to Microsoft when you got home, a bit like an Online Pass. Harrison wouldn't be drawn. "Our goal is to make it really customer-centric, really simple and really understandable and we will announce those details in due course." I got the impression from speaking to him - entirely my inference - that this Online Pass-style scenario of paying twice for second-hand, once at retail and once at home, was not the plan. But Harrison's reluctance to pre-empt this mystery announcement means that it is still a possibility. To me, the fact that Harrison was talking about a forthcoming announcement rather than just clarifying the detail suggests that whatever strategy Microsoft does have for this second-hand resale process may involve a specific partner. Perhaps Microsoft has done some sort of deal with GameStop or a similar retail entity. Anyway, I took the opportunity of a second audience with Harrison to ask some follow-ups about Xbox One's always-online aspects as well. "Some bits of the system will work offline," he said. "I think the key point to make is that Xbox One requires an internet connection, but it does not need to be connected all the time. We think that most of the biggest games on Xbox One and most of the games and experiences and services you want to use will be internet-connected." Everybody got that? Xbox One requires an internet connection, but not all the time. "I don't want to trivialise the issue because I know people are passionate about it, but I think most people will realise that the vast majority of content and experiences that they will want to enjoy on Xbox One will be the ones that have an online connectivity," he continued. "I think where people have anxiety understandably is what happens when the internet connection goes down for a few minutes or a few hours. On our side, with the infrastructure investments that we as Microsoft have made in Azure and Xbox Live dedicated servers that we will have for Xbox One, we are very confident that we have the infrastructure to support all of the players and all of the connections. And although it's not directly an Xbox issue, it's something Microsoft is proven to be really good at with Office 365." After the tape was off, we chatted some more about the anxieties that have come to light today and over the last few months of speculation. I suggested that one of the reasons that our concerns about second-hand blocking, always-online and other related issues are so acute is that we don't have any real-world Xbox One examples yet to judge it. Our touchstones are things like Diablo 3 and SimCity, which were appallingly botched launches. Time will tell whether Microsoft can get the balance right with this stuff. Personally, I just want purely single-player games to work offline and the internet to enhance our games in transparent ways. We will have to wait and see whether Xbox One's use of cloud computation and online services muddies this situation or if the platform holder can succeed where Blizzard and EA failed.
  4. In an article posted Tuesday 3rd Sep 2013 on CVG, Microsoft spokesperson Larry (Major Nelson) Hryd was responding to suggestions that "Microsoft has rushed the console to market". Major Nelson said on Reddit: 'The Xbox One program has been in development for years, so calling it 'Rushed' is incorrect.' " This statement, along with many others, made by Microsoft about features, ease of use and having learned from the promises made of the XBOX 360 prior it's to release are now being seen in the light of day. Where the XBOX One's Upload Studio, Skydrive and more initial launch titles are noticeable strengths over Sony's PS4, the numerous problems with features, non user friendly interface and lack of some functions promised during it's preview are adding up. One of the most highly anticipated and heavily promoted feature of live streaming via Twitch was not present as promised by Microsoft. The service will not be available until sometime in 2014. James Orry of videogamer.com stated that, "This means Xbox One will be missing one of the most talked about and praised feature of the PS4.". This was not reported until just before launch after tens of thousands of gamer's had already pre ordered the console. Additionally the XBOX One's functions are almost all apps, which according to Edge-Online staff, "take too long to load, don’t offer the functionality that Xbox Live was built on, and are, inexplicably, badly handled by the OS." This sentiment is felt by many as you have to go through layers of commands to access information or functions that were previously available with one touch on the 360. The use of apps will make it much easier for MS to perform updates, but Edge noted that, "Xbox One’s debut user experience is stuttering, clunky, and a serious challenge to Xbox Live’s long-held status as the premier console service." . The best way to describe the XBOX One's current issue with the using the app system was given by Tom Phillips of eurogamer.net. He noted that "The company has already stated that the Xbox One interface is just its first version and, like the Xbox 360, it will be refreshed throughout the console's lifespan. But the console's operating system seems aimed towards further homogenisation with Windows 8, and away from successful Xbox 360 features such as the Guide button. And this is where things run into problems. Rather than having the system's features laid out in the Guide's single, simple interface, core pieces are now spread across separate apps. You must now return to the Home screen to individually load these features (your Friends list, Achievements, system settings) or snap these features using Kinect voice commands (although this doesn't work with everything)." Tom went on further to say, "Even within these apps, previously easy-to-reach features are now hard to find. Want to see which of your friends are online? You now need to load the Friends app, select "Friends" and click through to the system's confusing list of your acquaintances. Small green dots indicate who's actually online and who's not. This used to be on the Guide button, but was also part of the core desktop - accessible with a simple click of the right bumper. The Guide could also be used to view recent met players - a feature which has been removed entirely. It's a shame, as it makes Microsoft's much-lauded player ratings system pretty much impossible to use without it." Hopefully MS will consider making the necessary 'updates' to improve user interface and ease of use in very near future. Looking closer at the numerous articles, and even a new website that has been created to highlight the long list of issues with the new console, a number of them to show why so many feel it was rushed to market. Among them are party chat, which is plagued by connection problems between the various games, it's default settings and being forced out of party chat when beginning multiplayer on games like"Ryse - Son of Rome. Ryan King of NowGamer.com reported that, "There are a lot of issues with the new party system, such as not being able to manually invite individual friends to games while other friends are present in a party and problems with party chat (one example: party chat is set to off by default). One specific example of how the new party system has change things: Killer Instinct only allows two-man parties to play, so if you’re in a mixed party with others playing Forza or Battlefield, you can’t then play Killer Instinct while in that party. Partying up and getting into games worked well on Xbox 360 and it’s difficult to see what Microsoft was attempting with this new system, which seems restrictive without any real benefit." Another problem being noted with communication on the new platform is that when using Skype players are reporting their conversations, some of which may be private, are being heard in match making. Additionally the use of Skype and Upload Studio are also, "temporarily banning users who swear while using Skype and Upload Studio on Xbox One. Multiple users have taken to Reddit and the Xbox One forums after finding themselves locked out of the apps, presumably after submitting content - Either uploading gameplay streams or using Skype to make a private call - which included profanity. Based on the photo above, posted by Twitter user named Connor, the Xbox One tells banned users to 'choose something else to play... Because of their past behavior.' " , as reported by Michael Epstein of EscapistMagazine.com. Connor was given access back within 24 hours after having to contact XBOX support to rectify the issue. Though this matter is not a 'bug' in the system of the XBOX One, users may want to check their content settings which may be causing this to occur. Party chat is a widely used and integral part of using the XBOX Live service and having these type of issues clearly show that MS did not spend the time needed to ensure the communication system and the Skype interface would work properly. "Running home to momma" is being seen as another big problem when, "certain games tend to crash to Xbox Home and you can’t relaunch those games without rebooting the entire console. There are a number of different theories for why this happens – Xbox One running out of RAM thanks to games and apps not sharing the RAM well is the most popular theory – but Battlefield 4 is the game where the problem seems to be most frequent. NBA 2K14, Call Of Duty: Ghosts, Dead Rising 3 and Madden NFL 25 have also been reported to cause the issue.". Epstein goes on to note that, "You can’t quickly access your Friends List while in-game as quickly as you could on Xbox 360 and you can’t see a list of people you have recently played. There’s no ‘join session in progress’ option anymore. You can’t auto sign-in to your profile. There are no notifications when friends come online. Perhaps understandable given the longterm view of there being up to 1,000 friends but there should be some way for friends to be labelled ‘favourite’ and have notifications for them. Combined with the unwieldy nature of the new party system, it all combines for an unintuitive system that users have to learn. Compared to the simplicity of the Xbox 360’s party system, it feels like a step back." The ability to see the battery life of your controller or viewing remaining hard drive storage space is not available, voice messages are gone, using an external USB for storage or reading media is gone, you can't play music in the background during games, there's no option for custom backgrounds, no avatar store, etc. etc. For a complete list of missing, problematic or desired features you can visit xboxfeedback.com for viewing the extensive list or add to it yourself. Though this site appears to have gotten Microsofts Major Nelson's attention, based on this comment: "It was even spotted by Microsoft mouthpiece Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb, who commented to say that its suggestions had been passed on to the relevant people.", stated Tom Phillips of eurogamer.net .......... it is speaks volumes that players felt compelled to create a web site in order to get Microsoft to pay attention to the issues they are having and features they expected to return or want. Larry Hryb made this announcement on Reddit. "I had a meeting today about much of this and I can say that things will get better. I can't offer a timeline of a list of what will be addressed first, but we are aware of the issue and things will get better." One reporter made light of the comment saying it sounded like something a politician would say! How long it will take MS to address these issues is yet to be seen. We have heard these promise of lessons learned and quick fixes before. Placing products on the market without proper testing, applying unwanted features or allowing project staff time to polish or finish promised specific features is a becoming a hallmark of MS products and those of it's game studio. The XBOX One should be a gaming console first and foremost and respect it's consumers by offering finished products. Trying to be the "everything box" appears to have caused the core use of what an XBOX was originally created for, gaming, to suffer. It would be scary to see what problems would have occurred with the infamous "DRM" feature they were forced to abandon (at least for now) following a major out cry from the community had it been implemented. The gaming community bought into XBOX Live, the XBOX consoles and exclusive titles in the past which has allowed Microsoft to make a proverbial gold mine from all of their related gaming interests. There should have been more respect given the consumers who have helped build their gaming interests. The money would have still been there. They should not chased the release of the PS4 and kept to their own schedule. Most of us are here in this forum because of our love for the Halo series and the community that surrounds, or used to surround it. Though gamer's in general face the same issues members here are with the XBOX One, it is especially tangible to Halo players when we see another product from MS that is placed on the market, much like Halo 4 was from Microsoft Studios, without being finished or properly tested and has taken so long to get it close to what was promised. Halo 4's issues drove many long term fans away from the franchise which also may happen to XBOX Live and XBOX One console users if timely fixes are not applied now. Even though Microsoft is planning on improving and tweaking the dashboard in the coming months, with a larger update, codenamed "Threshold" , planned in the spring 2015, the time to address the problems was before launch. Fun Fact The use of the term "Threshold" is a reference to the planet the first Halo ring orbited in the original game in the series, Halo Combat Evolved.
  5. Some recent Console news for you! Recently, Playstation turned 20 years old! For this special occasion, Playstation will be turning one of their PS4's into a PS1, only in colors though! To go further on this topic, a recent GameSpot article said this, "Sony and Microsoft may be rivals in the console space, but that hasn't stopped top Xbox boss Phil Spencer from sending some well wishes to PlayStation for its recent 20th anniversary. @PlayStation Congrats on 20 years of success with PS. #20YearsOfPlay — Phil Spencer (@XboxP3) December 4, 2014 The PlayStation brand celebrated its 20th anniversary on Wednesday, following the Original PlayStation's release in Japan on December 3, 1994. The Xbox is a younger platform. It was initially introduced in 2001, meaning its 20th anniversary won't come until 2021. To celebrate the PlayStation's 20th anniversary, Sony earlier this week announced a limited-edition PlayStation 4 modeled after the Original PlayStation. Only 12,300 units will be made, and you'll be able to preorder one starting on Saturday, December 6." (http://www.gamespot.com/articles/top-xbox-boss-congratulates-sony-on-playstation-s-/1100-6423974/) I may not be the biggest fan of Playstation, but it makes me happy that gaming has gone this far!

  7. Today was the day microsoft finally revealed their new xbox, quite a few interesting things were revealed today with more on the way at E3 in just a matter of weeks. So lets go through some of the main things that was shown at todays presentation. The name. Microsoft has revealed the name of the new xbox, Xbox One. Not a name that many of us were expecting hear for the new console, the reason for the name is for the "all in one experience" the new console will have, games, entertainment and TV. The look. From the picture above we see the actual console itself, the new controller and the kinect camera/sensor. The new console design is not bad but they could have stayed away from the chunky straight edge look and more of a curvy smooth design, but it's still ok. The new controller hasn't changed too much from the 360 controller except for a few minor details, the over all shape and layout is the same but has an extension with a glossy finish that sits at the top of the main body where the bumper buttons and the xbox home button (now touch sensitive) are located, the thumbs sticks hasn't change much except for the grip around the edges. The kinect sensor has a bit of a different look this time. It has a flat front service with one camera lens, the movement sensor along the botton and it will be included with each Xbox one. The Power. The Xbox One specs revealed 8 Core CPU 8 GB System Memory 500 GB HDD Blu Ray Drive 802.11n Wireless with Wi-Fi Direct HDMI In/Out USB 3.0 The Xbox one will feature Skype, be able watch TV and a snap feature which allows the user to do more than one thing at a time e.g you can watch a movie and browse the web at the same time without closing down one application to access another. Xbox One unveil video Exclusives Microsoft confirmed that 15 titles will be exclusive only to xbox when the console is launched, we don't know what the titles are or who is developing them but no doubt E3 will shed light on that. Well they did show us a trailer of one of the Xbox One's exclusives, Quantum Break developed by Remedy. Halo 343 was briefly in the spotlight at the presentation but not to show of any video game related content, but to confirm a live action TV series and Steven Spielberg will be involved with it, but what role he will be playing is currently unknown. That's pretty much the main parts of the presentation, I will try and add a video of the full presentation for those have have not seen it yet.
  8. In an effort to help gamer's understand the XBOX One's capabilities and what some actual features are Marc Whitten, Chief XBOX ONE platform architect, answers some questions posed by Ryan McCaffrey, IGN’s Executive Editor of Previews and Xbox Guru-in-Chief. Below is a current IGN article that highlights a series of questions and their answers. Ask Microsoft Anything About Xbox One Answers on Microsoft's new console, straight from the horse's mouth! Soure: I GN As the Xbox One gets closer to its November launch, many questions remain about how the console works and what it can do. So we reached out to Microsoft and asked them if they could definitively clarify some of these things. They obliged, and so we'll be bringing you a handful of Ask Microsoft Anything answers each Monday at 2pm PDT/5pm EDT. Bookmark this page, as we'll update this article so that all the answers live in one easy-to-find place. Oh, and if you've got a question for Microsoft about the Xbox One, send it to our Podcast Unlocked team at [email protected] and we'll make sure Microsoft sees it! Are Xbox 360 Avatars transferring over? If so will any changes be made to them? MARC WHITTEN, CHIEF XBOX ONE PLATFORM ARCHITECT: They are – your avatar will be on the system at launch and in fact, you’ll have some new options, including the ability to do full-body HD gamerpics. By the way, we should actually talk more about gamerpics too. We’ve moved from the 64x64 gamerpics on Xbox 360 to a full 1080p. They are beautiful, and you are going to see some really cool hero moments, like when you login to see personalized views of your games and other content. Can you clarify how will Xbox Live Arcade work on Xbox One? Or if it will exist at all? WHITTEN: Sure – there is no difference between games in the store – games are games are games! You’ll find them in the same pivots (most popular, new, etc.) and we’ll be highlighting them in our dashboard experience. And of course – like all of your digital games content – you can play them on any Xbox One, and anyone can play them on your Xbox One. Will the Game DVR capture at the source resolution? i.e. will Forza 5 clips capture at 1080p and 60fps? And where can Game DVR clips be uploaded to? WHITTEN: Game DVR captures beautiful clips at 720p 30fps. The first thing you’ll see with our game DVR is the integration of our Upload service on the console. This service allows you to manage, edit, and share your content. Your clips are stored in the cloud. Also, you’ll see games making “magic moment” videos of your gameplay based on the game DVR functionality – all seamlessly integrated. You’ll be able to see these clips in the Xbox One Guide, in your own game DVR collection, and when you are looking at gamercards on the system. You’ll also see games take advantage of this platform capability and do interesting things to integrate captured game footage into the game experience itself. Can you earn two sets of Achievements for the same game (i.e. Playing Call of Duty Ghosts on Xbox 360 and on Xbox One)? WHITTEN: Every game has its own set of achievements, so if you’re playing Call of Duty: Ghosts on Xbox 360 and on Xbox One, you can earn a separate set of Gamerscore in each game. But on the Xbox One version, you’re getting a much richer set of features, such as seeing your achievements progress on the Xbox One console, being able to unlock new achievements throughout the year, and earning real prizes inside and outside of the game. Xbox One also enables a new concept of challenges, where games will be offering special time-based opportunities to earn various goals and collect the rewards. More info on challenges can be found on Major Nelson's blog here.
  9. Since its initial unveiling at E3 2013, 343 Industries' upcoming science fiction video game, Halo 5 is shrouded by mystery. Though the game was teased earlier, and Microsoft, its publisher confirmed it for a release in 2014, not much of information has trickled out. Below IGN make a list of the known facts of the still-in-development game A teaser video of the game that was titled only as Halo was shown at E3 2013 confirming the appearance of Master Chief. But no information on the role of Cortana is available. A data chip in Master Chief's hand is shown It might mean her resurrection or if it is only for her remembrance is not yet known. Phil Spencer, corporate vice president of Microsoft Studios spoke about the teaser trailer claiming that it was just a conceptual representation for where Microsoft wished to take its Halo series. It was also stated that Halo Trilogy will exceed its limit and will be a Saga, henceforth. 343 Industries is working on a Halo TV show that will be handled by Stevan Spielberg of Jurassic Park fame. The studio is also working on projects other than Halo."What is looming on the horizon for the studio is both exciting and daunting. We're working on projects that you know about (the TV show and Halo Xbox One) and others that you don't (insert absolutely zero clues here)," it wrote on Halo Waypoint blog. Corrine Yu, principal engine programmer of Halo 4 left 343 Industries and joined Naughty Dog. He was regarded as a great talent in the industry and was the driving force behind Halo 4's technical achievements. Timothy Longo, creative director of Tomb Raider joined 343 Industries and will be acting as the creative director of the joining studio. He previously worked with two Star Wars Projects: Republic Commando and other Lucasarts projects. Source-ibtimes
  10. Here are some of the latest details about the next gen Xbox and Playstation and explains the change of their codenames. All details below. Source: IGN While we've heard a range of speculation about the codenames of Sony and Microsoft's next-gen consoles, a new report is claiming to have outed them correctly for the first time, as well as revealing where their components are being manufactured. Be sure to remember that none of the below has been confirmed by either Sony or Microsoft so, until it is, take it all with a large pinch of salt. According to SemiAccurate, internal sources have revealed that Microsoft's next Xbox is is being developed as project "Kryptos". The report also asserts that, as we've heard previously, the AMD chip the console will run on is called Oban. Additionally, it seems that the manufacturing troubles with the chip that were threatening to derail the console's rumoured 2013 launch still haven't been cleared up, and Microsoft is running out of time to do so. While we've now heard about the Oban chip from several different sources, this is the first time that the "Kryptos" codename has been thrown into the mix. We've previously heard the next-gen Xbox referred to as Durango; indeed, development photos and a supposed early version of the dev kit for Microsoft's next console that was sold on eBay went under that moniker. So which is the real codename? Sadly, for now at least, we have no idea. Moving onto the console many are calling the PlayStation 4, it's apparently being referred to internally as project "Thebes". Once again, an AMD chip is meant to be at the centre of the console and this is planned to be produced at either Global Foundries or IBM. If true, this means the chip would enter production after Oban, meaning a projected release window for the PlayStation 4 would be sometime between spring and autumn 2013. Again this conflicts with some of the information we've previously heard; numerous sources have referred to the PS4 as Orbis. This new report doesn't offer much more in the way of what's inside Sony's next console, but thankfully we have an extensive report from November that offers quite a few unconfirmed details.
  11. Microsoft is offering $100 of store credit towards purchases of the Xbox One at their Microsoft stores for anyone who trades in their PS3. Neogaf user "oxidax" made a post on the forum saying he got the advert in his emails. http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?p=98953025#post98953025 There is a list of terms and conditions that comes with the promotion The promotion is valid until February 28th, the offer is only at Microsoft stores in the US and Canada and it is not valid online. 12. Microsoft has announced the newest version of Windows, Windows 10! Wait... What?! You may not believe this, but Microsoft has announced Windows 10, no, not Windows 9, Windows 10. IGN.com reported the news, hailing a list of new features like improved flexibility, app windowing on the desktop, and more. Also, they have a new multitasking feature implemented, allowing people to do two things at once, sort of like on the Xbox One's pinning feature. A program for those who want to test the new OS first has also been revealed, when this will launch is currently unknown. 15. No, Microsoft will not be making a Halo movie. After many rumors sprung up about Ridley Scott directing this film, these rumors have since been shot down by a Microsoft spokesperson in a response to Eurogamer. "The Halo franchise encompasses many elements, including games, action figures, novels and more," "As always, we have many projects in the works that offer us the opportunity to bring in new audiences to the franchise, as we did in the past with Halo Legends and Halo: Forward Unto Dawn." "We plan to continue telling the Halo story through innovative channels, but there are no plans for a Halo motion picture at this time." As it appears we will not be receiving a Halo film anytime soon, but we still have much to look forward to in the future with the Halo televsion series announced by Microsoft at last year's E3. What do you think, should Halo produce a feature-length film? Leave your thoughts in the comments below. Source: Eurogamer
  16. Microsoft recently announced that unfortunately after the recent acquisition of Nokia, 18,000 employees will be fired and forced into unemployment within the next year, the majority in the Nokia department but some in the Xbox department as well. If you hadn't heard, Microsoft recently bought out and adopted the Nokia brand of phones and electronics for 72 Billion USD, and they will be laying off a large amount of employees, though the number wasn't expected to be this large. GameSpot.com reports that Microsoft has revealed that the number is right at 18,000 jobs being affected. About 13,000 of these are in Nokia, but the Xbox Marketing Team will also be affected heavily. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella did say that new jobs would be opened up, not stating how many, and that employees will be offered some basic assistance in finding new employment opportunities. This is the largest layoff event in the history of Microsoft, making about a 14% cut into the total amount of 100,000 or so employees. Investors surprisingly had a positive response in the first hours, however the stock quickly dropped soon after. More details will be made available soon, and I will update the article when we receive news. View attachment: X1.jpg Leave your response to the layoffs below, and what you think Microsoft should do specifically to help it's laid off employees. Thanks for reading guys, see you next time.
  17. Microsoft has sent out some interesting emails to popular YouTubers. Following what seemed like a successful Xbox One launch, Microsoft seems to be attempting to push ahead of Sony in the race, now paying YouTubers to promote their system. Apparently, emails were sent out to YouTubers offering a payment of $3 per 1,000 views. For the average YouTuber that has, let's just say, 35,000 views, it would roughly translate to a cool $105. To those who have more, like 100,000 views or more, they can expect much more income. View attachment: _1390077152.jpg With recent events piling up, such as the bots used to win a twitter poll on Microsoft's side, and the original slue of issues on the Xbox One at it's reveal, negative press keeps rolling in for Microsoft and their Xbox One. Does this seem like desperate business, or a smart strategy for the Xbox One? Source: CinemaBlend.com

  19. According to "respected sources" given to VG247 Microsoft will be lowering the price of the Xbox One sometime this year. VG247 reported that it will fall down to the price of the price the PS4 "Microsoft has told trusted publishing partners that it will release a new model Xbox One before the end of the year, a senior source has confirmed to VG247. Although the source was unable to confirm that the system will be disc-less and feature a bluetooth adaptor, the new console will be priced cheaper than the current $499 model. Upon release, Microsoft would likely drop the price of the current Xbox One model, placing it in the same price point as Sony’s PlayStation 4." There has been quite a lot of rumors buzzing around regarding Microsoft this week, mostly coming from Neogaf by the user of "ntkrnl". There has been several rumors including a Halo 2 anniversary edition being set to release this year and Halo 5 being delayed as many of you may already know. But many of us were unsure on how to take these rumors but according to Kotaku nktrnl is connected to microsoft and they are seeking legal action against these leaks. "So how valid is this stuff? Well, thanks to a reliable source, I've been able to confirm that ntkrnl is indeed connected to Microsoft, although I haven't been able to verify any of the poster's claims. Just because the leaker is in a position to know this information doesn't mean this information is true. (When I reached out this morning, Microsoft declined to comment.)" Another Kotaku statement. "On top of all that, according to one person familiar with the situation who spoke to me under condition of anonymity, Microsoft is currently trying to track down and identify ntkrnl. According to that person, Microsoft executives are looking to take legal action against ntkrnl, which, again, doesn't mean that everything he says is true." So with the latest news on these rumors and Microsoft seeking legal action, what are your views on all of this so far?
  20. The Official Microsoft Store has released a brief overview of the plot for Halo 5, here's what it says: "Master Chief continues his hero's quest. Halo for Xbox One takes the now-legendary saga to new heights and is one of the most anticipated games for the new console. In possession of a mysterious data chip, Petty Officer John-117, aka Master Chief, confronts a new battery of challenges and tests in a Herculean effort to stay alive in a galaxy where sentient life is mercilessly hunted. Pre-order the next chapter in the wildly popular Halo series designed exclusively for Xbox One." According to this, that data chip we saw in the trailer isn't Cortana's, as most people thought. What / Whom is that chip containing? Why must Master Chief take these "challenges"? Is sentient life hunted by the Flood? I would appreciate posting your thoughts Source: http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msusa/en_US/pdp/Halo-for-Xbox-One/productID.286029500 [it says it's currently anavailable, maybe they released the info by accident?]
  21. First and foremost the Microsoft E3 Press Conference was fantastic! Full of surprises (Ahem, the Conker Character in Project Spark, and Crackdown 3), and I have to say it was very enjoyable for something I'm not usually into watching. Now onto Halo. Halo 5: Guardians Beta On Halo Waypoint, it states that the Halo 5: Guardians Beta is scheduled to run from December 27, 2014 - January 22, 2015. Requirements: - You must be 17 or older to participate. - The Beta requires the Halo: The Master Chief Collection game disc to play. - Xbox One, internet and Xbox Live Gold membership required (obviously). I'm not sure how you actually get into the Beta firsthand. On the Page it states that participating in the beta unlocks content in both the Master Chief Collection, and Halo: Nightfall, and that the "Exclusive Items" will carry over into the Halo 5: Guardians game. Halo 5: Guardians releases sometime in late 2015 (the release date has not been announced, as stated on Waypoint). Halo: Nightfall Halo: Nightfall is a 5 Episode Live Action Series with episodes releasing on a weekly basis. The story as quoted from Waypoint: "A strange and treacherous world exposes elite UNSC operatives to a much deeper danger in this live action series from 343 Industries and Scott Free Productions. Executive-produced by Ridley Scott, Scott Free TV President David Zucker, and directed by Sergio Mimica-Gezzan ("Battlestar Galactica," "Pillars of the Earth," "Heroes"), Halo: Nightfall is an exciting new story for Halo fans and fresh audiences alike." During E3 I remember the lady from 343i stating that the show will have the Character from the Halo 2: Anniversary/Master Chief Collection Trailer, and the Halo 5: Guardians teaser art. Though I don't know if that's true, so don't take my word for it. On Waypoint it says that it'll be on Xbox One, and Windows 8.1 (at least it says they're required), but I'm sure the episodes will also be viewable on most Online Video sites, like Youtube. As of now I don't think the launch date has been announced, but please tell me if it has. *Pertaining to both the Beta, and Halo: Nightfall, Waypoint states that the dates, content, and features are subject to change.* SOURCE: HaloWaypoint.com - Thoughts? Concerns? Tacos?

  25. This April update brings improvements to your Friends list, GameDVR quality, new audio settings and much more. Neogaf user, Banjo-Kazooie recently revealed the improvements set to launch with the new update coming to the Xbox One in April. The update (referred to in his post as 'Update 1404') includes a plethora of new improvements some of which will not be available in the initial 1404 update. The updates and improvements coming to with the update are as follows: Game and app saves and updates. A game save progress bar will show you the status of your game saves. You will also be able to easily tell what games and apps are being updated or have been updated recently. Friends improvements. Notifications will be added to see when favorites and friends sign in to Xbox Live. This actually was one of the most frequently requested features from the first preview wave and we made it a priority to include it in the April update. Also, friends who are in multiplayer will be identified in the friends list. We’ll also add the ability to view friends’ most popular apps. Blu-ray 50 Hz video output support for content recorded at 50 Hz will resolve video playback issues some Xbox Live members in Europe are experiencing. Kinect voice and motion improvements will continue to fine tune the quality and reliability of Xbox One commands. Improved GameDVR video quality through compression algorithm improvements. Updates to Xbox One device management to address issues controlling TVs, set top boxes, and receivers that our customers have reported. New audio settings to tune how much volume is lowered when Kinect is used in communications. Again, this update will be coming in April, so stay tuned for more updates.
