  1. I think the perfect sequel is a real-time strategy first-person shooter hybrid game, using the Halo Wars mechanics for the commander and the classic first-person shooter and vehicle mechanics of the other halo games, in which the commander would build bases and armies and command those armies, exactly like Halo Wars, while a team of players allied to the commander function as special operations units on the ground, existing independently from the commander. When matchmaking, there are two main categories to choose from, though others may web off this initial choice, being Commander or Player; this will ensure that when a game commences, everybody will be playing the role they wish to play and that these roles will be consistent throughout the whole game, which solves the many problems of changing positions as player and commander and prevents the ineffectiveness of inconsistently playing either role. A side note on the matchmaking process: perhaps flood and Promethean Races should be added to the Leader choice options, though I fear this may sacrifice the games simplicity. Though any unit should be able to be played in First-person, for understanding and imagery purposes, assume that all players are Spartans. Plus, “players” will refer to the people playing fist person characters while “commanders” will refer to the base and army building position, even though it would also be played by a real, human, player. A player has an economy system exactly like that of the commander in Halo Wars, one resource that increases in income rate as resources area acquires, except that the players will not have the authority to build supply pads. Instead, the commander can dedicate supply pads to supplying all or some of his allied players or simply give his players a lump sum of resources, like the “give supplies to friendly” ability in Halo Wars that the commander has when one of his supply pads is activated. With this system alone, the players would be very dependent on the commander, which would rob players of the potential to have significant impact on their teams performance if the commander is not performing well, so the players should have other means to acquire resources. Other means for players to acquire resources should be gathering resource crates and utilizing map relics that provide resources, both of which are seen in Halo Wars. Finally the last and most prevalent means for players to acquire resources would be the combat reward system, a system that rewards players with resources for all combat oriented accomplishments, such as enemy kills, vehicles captured, bases captured or destroyed etc, which functions almost exactly like the point reward system of Halo 4, to which the players are able to receive ordinance; in this case, the ordinance would be delivered or fire-dropped in from the Spirit of Fire, the UNSC ship responsible for delivering airstrikes for the humans in Halo Wars, and may include ordinance of any weapon or unit which may then be under the player's command, be it giving orders like a Ghost Recon game or commandeering a vehicle, like the other Halo games. I think the players, with the sufficient resources of course should be able to call in, at least, basic airstrikes, similar to the human leader powers of Halo wars, which would not activate the cool down for the commander; the player should also be able to upgrade his airstrike capabilities using his own resources as well. Lastly, just like the commander is able to give resources to the players, the players should also be able to give resources to the commander. Every time a player dies he will need to summoned by the Spirit of Fire or one of the commanders buildings. The player, if wishing to respawn as a spartan, will need to pay the resource cost of a spartan from his own resources to be deployed again. If the player has sufficient resources, before being deployed, the player may equip him or her self with desired weapons, equipment, armor and vehicles. The deployment process would be fire-dropped as an infantry unit from the Spirit of Fire, pelican-dropped from the spirit of Fire in a vehicle, or simply deployed from an allied commanders base if they have the sufficient buildings. Stepping outside the imagery of the human faction, players of the covenant faction should be able to play and upgrade covenant leaders and their leader powers as seen in Halo Wars. The scarab should also be able to be utilized but the player will not be controlling the scarab directly. Instead, he would be controlling an infantry unit that is driving the scarab, which allows for enemies to commandeer the scarab or dispose of the scarab by infiltration and self-destruction, rather than destroying it wit overwhelming firepower, like in Halo Wars. Overall, what I want in a game is the perfect balance of simplicity, to allow for easy operation, and complexity, to allow for varied strategy, which Halo Wars and the classic Halo games have mastered; so, to bring these two games together would be truly and literally fantastic. To all the readers, please give feedback and criticism to both the idea and concepts and my writing skills so I can refine them and, if Possible, keep your reply messages concise for my reading convenience but certainly not at the cost of quality contribution. Hopefully, if this is refined and becomes renowned enough, it will become something that a game studio, be it 343 industries, Ensemble Studios, Bungie etc., will find worthy and interesting enough to create. Call me crazy but it may just work. Thank You, very much.
  2. Alright folks so I am not sure when the official playdate/ possible tournament will be organized. But I would like to host my own thing for Halo Wars while things get sorted out. I would like to start this weekend, maybe Friday, depending on peoples availability. So if you would like to join me this weekend on Halo Wars post what time you could be available and if we get enough people if you would like to do 2v2's, 3v3's or even 1v1's. I played with Drizzy and Fishy the other day and I am sure they would be down to play again, so there is three people right there .
  3. Welcome to my topic! You are most likely a Halo fan if you are reading this! In this topic you are welcome to talk about anything Halo related about an Halo game, book, film and event! I am a huge Halo fan my self and I am very passionate about Halo (mainly the games) I think the story and back story's to the characters are so brilliant and the game play is so mind blowing ! I thank Bungie for doing the first lot of Halo games and 343 for doing Halo Combat Evolved Anniversary and Halo 4 (with microsoft studios) I will be happy to know any information on Halo even if i know it! Halo is one of the greatest game franchises in the world!
  4. I, like everyone here on the Halo Wars forums, love this game! And it saddens me that the hasn't been a sequel to this game yet, and hope that there will be one soon! But I think 343 needs a little bit of encouragement... A reminder. That's why I'm suggesting we pull together for a specific day, set a day per week, bi-weekly, or even monthly, just to show there is a huge following to a game that is severely looked over. Getting people to sign online just for a day shows how many people truly care for the franchises "other game". As of 10pm when I signed on, there was still 5200 people playing this game! It's just now reached 4 full years this March 3rd! And what a perfect opportunity to have it on the anniversary date, even if we can only do if for the one day (NA launch day)?! So what do you all think? Cause you know, what do we have to lose besides time playing one our favorite games?! I would love to hear back! EDIT: it's official, march 3rd from 4pm CST, till midnight! Would love to see everyone on that day!!!
  5. One thing I've always wondered when I get matched up against people in matchmaking, is exactly how long those people have been playing Halo for and what was the first game they ever played. It always brings back good memories when I think about when I first started playing and just rushed with whatever version of the AR there was, and thinking of what a noob I was. I personally first played Halo: Combat Evolved when it first came out in 2001, but at the time I was only 8 and thought it was stupid because I was so horrible at it, but I eventually got interested in it again when I got into High School and I regularly played Halo 3 with people from my school after school every chance I got. I guess to end it I just want to ask two questions... How Long Have You been playing Halo and what was the first game you played?
  6. Okay, so I was helping some friends with some achievements for ODST, and started to reminisce the times I had playing all the other games when I remembered something quite terrible. I Played every game, beat every single aspect, achievements, rank, several times, then had to do it all over again in the next game with nothing to show for it. The closest Any of the games came to satisfying this was Halo Reach, but the three armor components didn't seem enough. So I propose a rather interesting Idea for the avid player; what if your progress made a difference; what if in Halo 4 you got gear for playing the other games. Not just one piece of armor or a special emblem, but a whole separate set for each. For Example, you would gain the following for each game: > Halo 3 - Type-25 Carbine - Type-2 Antipersonnel Fragmentation Grenade - Type-52 Pistol - M7/Caseless Submachine Gun - MJOLNIR Powered Assault Armor/R variant - MJOLNIR Powered Assault Armor/Mark VI - Legendary > Halo 3:ODST - M6C/SOCOM - M7S Caseless Submachine Gun - Type-25 Directed Energy Rifle/Jiralhanae Variant - Type-3 Antipersonnel/Anti-materiel Incendiary Grenade - ODST battle armor - VISR mode from ODST - Eternal > Halo Wars - Type-2 Energy Weapon/Hammer - Type-25 Grenade Launcher - Type-50 Sniper Rifle System - TR/9 Antipersonnel Mine - Hayabusa Powered Assault Armor/Katana - MJOLNIR Powered Assault Armor/Mark IV - Legacy > Halo Reach - Type-51 Directed Energy Rifle/Improved - Type-52 Special Applications Rifle - M319 Individual Grenade Launcher - Radar Jammer - Bubble Shield - MJOLNIR Powered Assault Armor/Mark V - Noble > Halo CE: Anniversary - M7057/Defoliant Projector - Type-25 Directed Energy Rifle - Sentinel Beam - Energy Disruptor - Flashbang grenade - MJOLNIR Powered Assault Armor/Mark V - Mythic I think that players would prefer to be awarded the above rather then have to unlock them by spending more hours if not days when they already went on the journey to earn them. Anyone should be able to unlock them, but only by playing the other games. This may prove to anger the players who never played the other games, didn't complete the requirements, or had to switch profiles due to reasons unknown. However, they should still be usable in game, but through this method only would they be able to be unlocked for use in Personal Loadouts. They would not effect combat any more then any other of equal ability already within the game. I also recommend the return of the other two factions of the covenant; the Zealots commanded by Avu Med 'Telcam will make very interesting foes, and their armor matches their religious commitment, but to see how the Separatists, under the Honorable Warrior's command of the Arbiter, and the Loyalists, the once servants of the Prophets, now ruled by the Tribal order of the Jiralhanae, free of the chains that suppressed their ancient barbaric nature, they now fight amongst themselves; vying to rule the other tribes. All three of these factions have much to gain from Requiem, and are likely to galvanize under the threat of the other factions or the UNSC gaining the secrets of the Shield world. Seeing the three fight would make quite a sight; the Wild Jackals running about with almost random weapons that they scavenged from lord only knows, against the Storm Jackals and their vicious nature. Not to mention the countless possibilities of new and old Brute weapons and vehicles. Like a Spike turret, a fusion of Super heated metal and rapid succession. An Assault rifle version of the Spike riffle would seems to be in order. A new cocktail of death from the mind of a twisted soul, the Harpoon gun will leave your mangled corpse stuck to the wall, floor, ceiling, or whatever is behind you when they release the trigger. Working like a fusion of the Spiker and the Light Rifle, it can fire by simply tapping the trigger, firing metal barbs with great precision, or you hold the shot, then release to twine three barbs together and staple the target to whatever might be behind it. That Metal on Metal would not only punch holes through you, but sear the flesh just the way they like it. Sound like a party?

  8. This is mainly a response to the topic: CHEERS! there gonna be a halo wars 2! But anyway, like I was saying... I found some references on Halo Wars 2, and discussing how it could be experimented with the Kinect. Xbox News: Halo Wars 2 - Link Here It basically talks about a new extention to Halo Wars and it's capabillity with the Kinect. This is another reference I found on GameInformer talking about the Future of Halo Wars: Link Here

  11. UPDATE: THERE WILL BE NO HALO WARS 2! ENSEMBLE STUDIOS WAS SHUT DOWN BY A LACK OF MONEY. I was deeply dissapointed when I learned that Ensemble was shut down. This basically just wiped out the purpose of the 4 hours of work I spent on this, but still just something for us to dream about. What do you want in Halo Wars? Today I will be showing you some of the ideas me and some friends of mine want in Halo Wars. (let's abbreviate that with HW) HW is my favorite RTS game ever. I am a big fan of computer RTS games, but HW tops them all. I personally don't want some of these ideas in HW2 but we have to be open minded, right? I may state everything like it will happen, but it won't. I am not demanding anything, I am simply stating what I and the many I asked think about HW and what should be in HW2. This is pretty long, so it will be organised by the >>Question and >Details. Sit back, relax, and read away! Don't get too exited about it, HW2 isn't coming out. Now, lets get started. >>What new units would you like added? >Engineers. I saw how they wouldn't fit into HW because the unit circle wasn't large enough. I'm sure they thought of adding them already. If there were a unit that could fix the destroyed buildings and vehicles like an engineer from the Covenant, I would definitely use them! Spending 350 supplies on a regenerator that takes time to restart is pretty inefficient if you have one building (say a reactor you spent alot of supplies on) is nearly destroyed and you can't afford a new one. Just send in engineers! They could look like marines but with black camoflague. >Corvettes. If the UNSC takes too long to kill off the Covenant, then the Covenant can start building a Corvette! It would take a very long time to build, should cost 15000 resources or more, and use up 10 units. (for special purposes) Once built, it can drop in soldiers and vehicles (not aircraft) on a drop ship. There is a death beam that can wipe out everything in its path. The Corvette should be mildly slow. With all of these abilities, i'm sure it is the ultimate death machine. Overkill? Yes it is. It is only possible if you spend an hour as the UNSC and don't do anything to the enemy. I do this every day to the Covenant. Scarabs can be hard to deal with sometimes but with Captain Cutter's MAC strike, it can take out a scarab with no effort at all. One time, they sent 2 scarabs and I still took them out. If they sent a corvette, which is a consequence for spending hours doing nothing. >Heretics. Just a wild idea. Maybe they have extra damage is all. >Jackal Snipers apart from Shielded Jackals. I don't understand why I can't have just snipers and just shielded ones separately. >UNSC snipers. Rebels had snipers, and they had long range. Flamethrowers can be deadly at close range, and snipers can take a toll at long range. That way, flamethrowers are stronger than snipers at a cost of range. Snipers should be a team of 2, if anything. >>What new abilities/powers would you like added? >Shelter units inside of a base. This is an idea I would serioulsy like to have on HW2. Task your units on the base (if the doors are open) and they run into there. You can close the doors so they don't enter the base anymore and the ones inside don't go anywhere. If you press A over the base, you can press a button that releases all the garrisoned units. So that means: A button that opens/closes the door. A button that releases garrisoned units. >A drop ship that drops off Covenant units like the UNSC has Pelicans. What is up with that? The Covenant should have special powers just like the UNSC, but I mean just make the powers things like "Transport" or "Global Rally Point" or even "View Leader". I use pelicans all the time. When I saw the Covenant drop ship on campaign, I immediately switched factions on skirmish and tried to find it. The only form of transportation is teleporting for the Covenant. Why? It would be very helpful to have it! >Higher unit cap. I would love to pack in alot more units for a battle. Maybe raise it from 30 to 40 (with the reinforcements upgrade) to 60 to 70 or even 80. The developers may need to generate a system to run with less lag to do this. >Much larger unit circles. We need more variety. I know how to counter everything in the game. A game like Empire: Total War is a great RTS game that has amazing amount of variety in units. What if we took all of the suggested units from earlier, and added them to the list, along with some new vehicles and aircraft, we can make ourselves a great new larger circle, each with upgrades. Make engineers weak against infantry but strong against vehicles. Some sort of new system for new units. You should know what I mean. >Cheat codes. Skulls are handy for skirmishing, but then again they don't provide the awesome might of a cheat code. They can be used to make it extremely hard to lose or win. Make your units drop dead in one shot or blow up all of the enemy units. Infinite supplies, super HP, a secret unit, insta Scarab (regardless of faction), maybe insta Corvette, or insta train for all units. Even a god mode would be fun. What if you could be god? Have a huge circle menu (maybe a couple) that let you place units during an AI vs. AI battle and then sending your units to mess with them or decimate them. See everything that goes on, no fog of war. What if you could generate rebels that run over to an enemy base and attack it? If you want, place a rebel base. Control the flood. Do anything! Sounds fun to me. >Station Hospital. An upgrade you could buy from your base that heals your units that garrison inside of the base. Maybe 2 or 3 upgrades: The first one makes the base heal garrisoned units, the second one heals faster, the third one heals even faster. I think that would work in the game just fine. >Create a level, AKA level editor. That would be the most awesome thing ever! It was mentioned by nearly everybody who participated in this long post. Start with a flat level. Have some sort of painter system that you can paint the ground with. An atmostphere editor that changes the background sounds and things like rain or dust from a wild jungle to a barren land of snow. Make it snow on the level, or else just choose the blank background that has no background sounds or particle effects. (rain, dust, snow, etc.) Creating levels for games I love (like Halo: Reach's amazing forge mode) is the best thing I could ever do. I have done that since I was a kid. (when those really retro games got smart and made an editor) Place an empty base build spot, place a rebel base there, place rebels. Place special items like supply generators or extra reactors. Make flood bases that allow you to choose what they produce and how fast they produce them. Make a special button that costs however much supplies and produces a hostile herd of flood or rebels. (like that level, Release) Place details like foliage and water, or place things like pre-made wreckages of vehicles and walls of ice or create cliffs. Something like this would be a dream come true to many players around the world. >>What new factions would you like to play as? Ok, so these factions are neutral. 2 factions are already fighting, but these factions can interfear with them. They can see everything and they have special abilities. >Rebels. Maybe they could have a faction that says "Neutral" in between Covenant and UNSC can make you control the rebels or flood. >Flood. As mentioned above. They have special buildings that spit slime balls (and they're deadly) or generate units for free. Depending on the unit type, they take longer to make if they are tougher. >Sentinels. Control sentinel guards that fly around and never stop generating from their domain in their level. Amass the sentinels in a huge herd and have them attack the enemy. The ones from when the flood latched on to the Pillar of Autumn were deadly. This would make them extremely deadly as a herd. >God. Like I said, it basically makes you god. (refer to the "Cheat Code" section for details) You read it all! Make sure to like this and let us have your idea and opinion of these ideas! Remember, it is not all my ideas, it is many others' ideas. I spent 4 hours making this post. If you wish to see the topic about Halo 4, please visit the link below: http://www.343indust...__fromsearch__1 For the Halo 4 topic, I spent 8 hours making it! In addition, there WILL be a Halo 4 and possibly a Halo 5! There should be a gravestone in honor of the fate of Ensemble studios. Age of Empires was another game I wanted a sequel of, but now I know that there will never be an Age of Empires 4.
  12. I want to play some private 3v3 games but i need people, message me in game if you would like to GT: Lehcs
  13. Hey 343, I know that no one probably cares but I really think 343 should make a halo wars 2. Halo wars 1 was the most succssful console strategy game and is one of my favorites all time. I still play it often with the other about 9 thousand that are online.. I have heard talk about 343 thinking about kinect for halo wars 2 and I just wanna say don't do it. The game is great with the remote it just needs to be refined somewhat. Kinect would not sell well and it would flop if you were to add new feature and make the original system more appealing I could see it selling well. Some ideas for the game as a long time player 1. More leaders and options (no more then 4 more or else it would be overwhelming) 2. More maps and fix the stupid same map in matchmaking like 10 times in a row 3. Maybe a ranking system where you unlock items (make it more competative) These are just a few suggestions I'm sure you have heard others. Just atleast consider it I know I would buy the game along with many others.
  14. hey guys just wanted to start a halo wars clan for covenant players also, anyone interested in a halo reach forge session?
