It was announced that the Xbox One system update would be coming today, but Larry Hryb aka Major Nelson announced that the update will not be arriving today but sometime this week as it still needs to be finalized. "FYI: The February #XboxOne System Update will ship this week, but not today." Major Nelson announced on his twitter page, "The team is working on finalizing. More details when I get them." In related news it has been confirmed that the update will need to be manually accepted, Microsoft told Kotaku, just like the 360 updates. This weeks update will include; Better system stability. Improved kinect voice commands. Power Indicator that monitors the controllers battery life. Ability to check and manage storage space. 4. According to "respected sources" given to VG247 Microsoft will be lowering the price of the Xbox One sometime this year. VG247 reported that it will fall down to the price of the price the PS4 "Microsoft has told trusted publishing partners that it will release a new model Xbox One before the end of the year, a senior source has confirmed to VG247. Although the source was unable to confirm that the system will be disc-less and feature a bluetooth adaptor, the new console will be priced cheaper than the current $499 model. Upon release, Microsoft would likely drop the price of the current Xbox One model, placing it in the same price point as Sony’s PlayStation 4." There has been quite a lot of rumors buzzing around regarding Microsoft this week, mostly coming from Neogaf by the user of "ntkrnl". There has been several rumors including a Halo 2 anniversary edition being set to release this year and Halo 5 being delayed as many of you may already know. But many of us were unsure on how to take these rumors but according to Kotaku nktrnl is connected to microsoft and they are seeking legal action against these leaks. "So how valid is this stuff? Well, thanks to a reliable source, I've been able to confirm that ntkrnl is indeed connected to Microsoft, although I haven't been able to verify any of the poster's claims. Just because the leaker is in a position to know this information doesn't mean this information is true. (When I reached out this morning, Microsoft declined to comment.)" Another Kotaku statement. "On top of all that, according to one person familiar with the situation who spoke to me under condition of anonymity, Microsoft is currently trying to track down and identify ntkrnl. According to that person, Microsoft executives are looking to take legal action against ntkrnl, which, again, doesn't mean that everything he says is true." So with the latest news on these rumors and Microsoft seeking legal action, what are your views on all of this so far? View full article

  6. Much to player's disappointments, Titanfall on the PC can only use Xbox 360 Controllers. With the recent showing of the Limited Edition Titanfall Controller, which has received critical acclaim for it's design, players will be disappointed to learn that they cannot use that controller for their PC copy of Titanfall. This was no surprise earlier as Microsoft stated they would implement support for Xbox One controllers in 2014, but recently, an employee of Respawn surprisingly replied to the question of "Will you support the Xbox One controller on the PC?" With a yes. Shortly after, they deleted the message with a saddening "No," stating in an apology form: "We don't, sorry. I saw 'Xbox controller.' We support 360, not One on PC." Now just because Titanfall will not have Xbox One controller support on launch, does not mean it will not come in the future. Not only is a profitable move, but making it compatible as quite easy, as it's already been done by one Chris Gallizi, a hacker, who sorted out the driver situation. Has this changed your mind about getting Titanfall on the PC? Source: GameSpot.com Twitter.com

  9. I think it would be everyone's dream if 343 Industries made Halo 3 for Xbox One. I mean don't get me wrong, Halo 3 was practically the best game to play back in the day. If they made Halo 3 for Xbox One, I'm sure everyone would want to buy it. Perhaps not for $60, but maybe $25 or something.
  10. For those interested in the NFL titles, the Xbox One has some interesting enhancements soon releasing. If you're familiar with NeuLion, a streaming company working with Microsoft, you have heard that they have a multi-year contract with them to bring NFL content to the Xbox One. The content includes DLC, statistics, and TV channels geared around sports to be delivered at 60fps (Frames Per Second). The console is capable of such feats as it has a suitable video card for the situation. Chris Wagner, the company's executive VP had this to say: “One of NeuLion’s core strengths is our ability to get our partners to market fast with an integrated experience, Our sports platform has helped to reduce the complexities involved and deliver for Xbox fans a tremendous live sports experience on the game console.” The 60fps update has not yet been released, but the app is available, though it will require Xbox Live Gold and the free existing NFL app.
  11. UK online retailer Zavvi is currently selling the standard edition of the Xbox One for £409.99, that's £20 cheaper than the RRP. I know this is barely a price big price drop at all compared to it's RRP and there certainly wouldn't be one this quick after launch but could this be the very beginning of prices drops for the Xbox One? Well it's hard to tell as this is just one company that seems to be doing it, it could be that they aren't quite shifting as much Xbox One's as expected, but I think it may be worth keeping an eye one as other retailers may begin to do the same thing to compete. 14. ^Front of the controller^ Celebrity console modder Ben Heck has created a single-handed Xbox One controller mod, designed to be accessible for gamers with a disability preventing them from using two hands. The creation of the controller will be chronicled on this Friday's installment of element14's The Ben Heck Show. A teaser for the program gives a first glimpse at the unit, as do the images posted above and below. The controller, which features the left-trigger on its backside next to the battery, is designed for right-handed individuals because, "that's the most common request," Heck said. It's not clear if Heck also plans to create a left-handed Xbox One controller or if he will produce more than one unit. Heck is donating the controller to the Able Gamers Foundation, a charity aimed at making video games more accessible for those with disabilities. This is not the first time Heck has a created a single-handed controller, as he did the same on an Xbox 360 Controller years ago, completely overhauling the controller in the process. ^Back of the controller^ Source: http://www.gamespot.com/articles/modder-creates-single-handed-xbox-one-controller/1100-6416866/
  15. RYSE: Son Of Rome Game Review Note: I tried to make this review as spoiler free as possible. I hope you enjoy! Plot summary: Ryse: Son of Rome is a 3rd person game set in Ancient Rome during the war between Rome and the Barbarians. It follows the story of Marius Titus, a Roman Centurion whose family is murdered. The story depicts the time when he entered the Roman army, to the time when he became a General and a great leader. Marius sets out to kill the barbarians who murdered his father, but discovers the truth to his families demise and is determined to have his revenge on his families murderers. Gameplay: Ryse could be called a button smasher, but not nearly as much as fighting games such as Marvel Vs. Capcom, Mortal Kombat, and others. You have a main attack button [X], a parry or break defense button [Y], a counter button [A], and an evade button . Each of these buttons are utilized quite evenly throughout the game as you journey to different areas and face different kinds of enemies. These controls are included with a quick time event kill finishes, where when you see a skull over an enemies head, you press the Right trigger to start the kill finish. There are also javelins you can take from dead bodies or stands that you can use to throw at enemies from a distance, these controls are highlighted the impulse triggers, the longer you hold the trigger down, the more accurate the throw is. Certain points in the game allow you to command your army into defending and attacking certain positions. There are times when you need your army to help you approach a dangerous area, thus creating the testudo formation, this formation allows you to cover yourself as arrows are being fired at you, and also allows you to throw spears at the archers while they are preparing to fire the next set of projectiles. There are also some Crossbow stations (Rapid fire crossbow with flaming tips) that can be used in certain areas of the game, you also utilize the same controls as you did by using the javelins. You can also upgrade your characters health, focus, and combat strengths throughout the game. Kinect: Kinect is utilized in the control scheme as well, you use Kinect for voice commands to command your army/garrison in certain areas of the game (often times in a large war-filled area/level). Voice commands such as "Fire Volley!" are used to control the archers, they often provide assistance to you when you are feeling overwhelmed in battle. They are usually just enough to assist you with getting through the levels. There are more voice commands you can use, but I will leave that up to you all to discover. Visuals/Audio: The visual appearance of Ryse: Son of Rome is one of the best I have seen in a video game. Surpassing that of the Assassins Creed series and the multiple monuments and buildings they revolve around. The audio and voice performances are also top notch as the music helps drive the game forward. The voice acting is also an overlooked but very well done part of the story and the characters. Sound effects and object sounds add to the game to help you feel like you are in Rome. Ryse, offers different scenic locations, from the marketplaces you pass through within the city, to a dark forest area where there are traps, rivers, fog, and other things you often have to go through to reach your destination. The game is very detailed and looks and sounds incredible. Summary: Ryse: Son of Rome offers fun gameplay, a compelling story with an incredible ending, and amazing audio and visual appearance. The game offers another game mode besides the main campaign called "Gladiator" which allows you to play with friends or other people online (Not yet played). I believe that this game will be fun for anyone who plays it, and it should not be overlooked on the Xbox One. Definitely check Ryse: Son of Rome out. I hope you all enjoy it as much as I have. Do take the M rating into consideration, as it is properly given. Review by: John P. aka Mayh3m/Total Mayh3m
  16. Source-LatinoPost With 2014 almost here, many fans are eager to see what sort of games Sony and Microsoft will be releasing on to their new next gen platforms, the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Especially important to gamers is seeing what exclusive games will be coming to the new systems, as these games could sway public opinion on the consoles and convince gamers to pick one over the other when they are more widely available. To highlight the upcoming 2014 exclusive games, here are the top five games in the category for both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. 5. Infamous: Second Son (PlayStation 4)- This game seeks to take the franchise to a new level, as the new console hardware will allow the game to have an even bigger and better open world and even more insane superpowers for users to play around in. Throw in a more charismatic protagonist and the game could be a crown jewel in the PlayStation 4 launch window lineup when it is released March 21. 4. Plants Vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare (Xbox One)- While this game is also being released on the Xbox 360 and PC, the Xbox One version of the game is the definitive one for fans due to the inclusion of offline co-op and Boss Mode. The game seeks to mix Plants vs. Zombies with online shooters, and the game looks to be the sleeper hit of 2014. 3. Uncharted 4 (PlayStation 4)- While Naughty Dog has only confirmed that they are working on an Uncharted game, without saying it will be the fourth game in the series, it is enough to earn the game a place on this list. Considering that the Uncharted games on the PlayStation 4 set a new standard for cinematic gameplay when they were released, having the series come to the PlayStation 4 and do the same thing seems to be a given for the new year. 2. Titanfall (Xbox One)- This game, due in March, seeks to merge single player story telling with multiplayer online gameplay, and so far the game looks to have done that perfectly. If Titanfall is able to do everything that it has promised to do, it could lead to industry staples like Call of Duty completely changing their formula and risk becoming outdated. But besides all that, the game will allow users to fight it out on massive maps with different mech warriors as well as on foot, which could be worth the price of admission all by itself. 1. Halo 5 (Xbox One)- The Halo series was confirmed to be getting a new game in 2014 for the Xbox One, but Microsoft did not reveal if the game is indeed Halo 5. Nonetheless, the series gets a pass for this, as any sort of new Halo title is enough to cause gamers to sit up and take notice. While many people will be watching this game closely to see how it compares to Destiny, the new game from former Halo developers Bungie, there is no reason to doubt that the new Halo game will continue the franchise's stellar record View full article

  20. Turtle Beach offers headset upgrade for Xbox One owners The selection of Xbox One headsets is fairly slim at the moment, but Turtle Beach has a solution in the form of an audio adapter that allows a handful of its headsets to plug into the new console’s controller. For a limited time, the company is offering that adapter as a free upgrade for those that purchase a participating headset between November 22, 2013, and January 30, 2014. If you’ve nabbed a Turtle Beach XP400, XP510, XP SEVEN, or X42 since the console’s launch – or if you plan to get one in the next two months – then you’re eligible. To redeem the offer, simply click this link and follow the instructions from there. Note that you’ll need a valid receipt, and a photo of said receipt in order to get your adapter. Once you submit all of the necessary info and documentation, Turtle Beach will take it from there. The Xbox One ships with a chat headset in the box, and the new Kinect is also chat-capable, but Turtle Beach cans allow you to pipe both game audio and chat into your ears. There’s only a limited range of options available specifically for the Xbox One in the third-party space, and Turtle Beach’s offer may be preferable since you effectively get a headset that works with both the Xbox One and Xbox 360. 22. It was announced today by Bungie that they had set the release date for Destiny for September 9th 2014. Below is an excerpt from the Bungie Weekly Update for 12/6/2013 and a news article from the site. Relevance of the Date The date falls almost 9 months to the day from this day. It is the 9th day of the 9th month of the year. This is a Tuesday in the second week of the month. There will be a full moon on that date. There appears to be no relevance with the date other than that, unless there is some 'in house' reasoning for selecting it. It falls well before the shopping period for the Holidays and after the summer break for schools. Update excerpt This week, we set that date in stone: September 9th, 2014. In an interview with the community back in 2001, Jason Jones once lamented the inexorable tick of the clock. More recently, he reminded our studio just how valuable the coming months will be, and challenged the team to make every second of Destiny development count. It’s an exciting time to be at Bungie. The stage is set, and we’re going to make these moments matter. We believe Destiny will be worth the wait, and we’re anxious for the chance to prove it to you. News Article Since then, Destiny has continued to reveal its promise. Every new build brings us closer to our original vision. With those goals in sight, we intend to use every moment from now until the release of the game to ensure that Destiny lives up to your expectations, and our own. Today, in partnership with Activision, we are proud to announce that the worldwide launch of Destiny will happen on September 9th. Accordingly, the Destiny Beta will kick off in the summer of 2014, available first on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3. The early support and enthusiasm for Destiny has been inspiring and humbling. We believe this is the right decision for our game, our studio, and our passionate community. Thank you for coming along with us on this adventure. See you starside.

  25. Look into those eyes. They're the eyes of a man who has been deceived. They're the eyes of a man who has been conned out of £450 ($734 USD). They're the eyes of a man who read the word "photo" and decided that meant "not a photo". It's a tale of heartbreak, as reported in the Nottingham Post. 19-year-old Peter Clatworthy thought he was buying an Xbox One but instead he was buying a photo of one. "It said 'photo' and I was in two minds," Peter told the paper, "but I looked at the description and the fact it was in the right category made me think it was genuine." We think we can see where he went wrong. As if the con wasn't bad enough, the crooked eBay seller even trolled their victim: "They'd written on the back of it 'thank you for your purchase'," Peter said. "I was fuming." Joking aside, we hope the evil man responsible for this is given the karmic equivalent of a swift kick in the plums, because nobody should be pulling this stunt so close to Christmas. As for Peter, it's good news (otherwise we wouldn't have been quite so sarcastic earlier) - eBay is going to insist the seller gives Peter a full refund by Monday. "I've had to make a joke out of it because I was that angry," he concluded. "At least we've now got something to laugh about in the years to come." That's probably a mature way of looking at it. Had it been us, we'd have sent the crook a badly-printed photo of a prison cell. <via CVG & Nottingham Post>
