  2. Another price cut has been made on the Xbox One. On Amazon UK the Xbox One bundled with a digital copy of Titanfall is now down to £349, the same price as the PS4. The price has dropped a huge £50 in just over a month when Microsoft originally cut the cost from its original price of £429 down to £399 for the launch of Titanfall. But customers can now get their hands on an Xbox One with the game for £30 cheaper which now works out at £80 cheaper than what it was for the console alone at launch back in November. This may leave some Xbox One users a bit unhappy since they have paid more for a console at launch when it would then go down in price dramatically only within months. This is the very reason why it's better to wait rather than buying at launch if you don't want miss out on cheaper deals. So what do you think about the latest price cut, would you pick up the Xbox One for £349 if you haven't already? Source: Amazon
  3. The Games With Gold program will start this June for the Xbox One announced by Head of Xbox, Phil Spencer. Yes Games With Gold launches on the Xbox One in June, which is a lot sooner than what a lot of people expected, the launch is to mark the one year anniversary when it first launched on the Xbox 360. The two games that will be available to download for free are "Max: The Curse of Brotherhood" and "Halo: Spartan Assault." Phil Spencer made the announcement earlier today on Xbox Wire. "The program will launch on Xbox One with “Max: The Curse of Brotherhood” and “Halo: Spartan Assault.” A single Gold membership will get you access to the free games for both Xbox One and Xbox 360." Max: The Curse of Brotherhood that released just last December is a 2-D side scrolling game developed by Press Play which is a sequel to "Max & The Magic Marker". Halo: Spartan Assault originally came out for Microsoft Windows and Windows Phone last year and then released on the Xbox 360 and Xbox One. There will also be three titles to download for free in June for Xbox 360 users, the additional title on top of the two gold subscribers originally get is also to celebrate the one year anniversary. The three free games are "Dark Souls,” “Charlie Murder” and “Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition.” So by looks of this announcement Xbox 360 users will get a total of five games for free in June as they can also get the two free games that are coming to the Xbox One. What do you think of Games With Gold coming to the Xbox One? Are you looking forward to see the future of the program on the new console? Source: Xbox Wire
  4. The next Call of Duty title, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, has been announced under Sledgehammer Games and Activision. Call of Duty: Ghosts, while having some good areas, was critically panned by most players as repetitive and stale, so naturally, the next game would need to out-do it's predecessor spectacularly. Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, the next step in the Call of Duty franchise, was revealed a few hours ago, but leaked information was shown quite some time back. Call of Duty's official channel made the official reveal, but Destructoid.com has the information beforehand. Destrucoid leaked the game surrounding a Private Military Corporation seceding from the US government. You play as a Soldier in this corporation, for once not under the US flag, under Kevin Spacey's character, who is the leader of this corporation. Exo-suits will incorporate as well, giving players a hefty library of abilities like cloaking, scaling, and jumping. The official trailer showcases Knight-esque Suits, possibly hinting at customization of our suits, and Spider shaped tanks in-game. The in-game graphics are, impressively, on an Xbox One, showcasing the system's power. 6. The Xbox One will be available for purchase in China come September of this year! China had banned all foreign consoles in 2000 due to many parents believing that consoles would damage their youths' mental well being. The ban was lifted on January 8 of this year. Microsoft is acting quickly to get the Xbox One on the store shelves in China. Microsoft Corporate Vice President of Marketing stated, "The culture of games and entertainment is rapidly growing in China, with nearly half a billion people playing games – roughly a third of the country’s population and more than the entire population of North America. The gaming industry saw massive growth in the last year - generating more than $13 billion in 2013, an increase of 38% in the last year alone. Gamers in China have shown they love gaming – mostly on PC, mobile and online - and game developers in China have been delivering innovative games for years. Creators and gamers alike have eagerly awaited a new generation of entertainment experiences in China." He also made mention of the joint venture between Microsoft and BesTV, E-home entertainment, a program that will allow dev teams to get their games on the Xbox One in China. I'm sure this comes as great news to our fellow Chinese gamers who may have played Halo: CE on the PC but never had the opportunity to delve further into the franchise. SOURCE:XBOX WIRE
  7. Recently, video game store GameStop put up a listing for Xbox One and PS4 versions of The Walking Dead from Telltale Games, apparently releasing in June of this year. The Walking Dead episodic series, made by Telltale Games, was a skyrocket hit in 2012 and continues to be so today with more seasons for the license, and according to GameStop.com, the license is expanding. GameStop posted two new additions to it's gallery of titles for Xbox One and PS4, The Walking Dead: Game of the Year Edition for each platform mentioned. It will launch June 17th, 2014 according to the listing, alongside quite a few other June titles like The Last of Us. It is likely to contain the same as it's counterparts on the Old Generation systems, the full First Season. It is priced at $29.99, the same as it's Old Generation versions. 8. I think 343 should Recreate Halo: Reach for the new generation console. Halo is indeed the mascot for xbox. As a halo fan and owning the one, it would drag more players from 360 to the one. Halo: Reach has created a fan base addiction to many players. Most of my friends and many IK, refuse to leave 360 for the sake of Reach. I would enjoy Reach and other halo games like 3, ODST, 2, CE, and wars, in new generation graphics but same gameplay\design.

  12. Creative Assembly's new horror game, Alien: Isolation on Next Gen has had a confirmed release date. Aliens: Colonial Marines was met with huge fire on it's launch, and likely tarnished the Alien reputation to the point of no return, but Alien: Isolation hopes to fix that with what fans of the original know and love, alone in the dark, with an alien in the shadows around you. Fans will be able to experience that feeling on October 7th, 2014 for Xbox One, Xbox 360, and other next and old generation platforms, as well as PC. The release date was confirmed during a panel at this year's EGX Rezzed, a UK gaming event. The news came in first at GameSpot.com after the event was held. View attachment: Alien-Isolation-screen.jpg The game is being developed by Creative Assembly, the team behind Total War: Rome 2, which does have some fans scared. It is being published by Sega, who owns the license now, as the also published Colonial Marines. With this information, do you have hope for CA's survival thriller in space, or do you think it will be just another Amnesia clone with nothing new to the table? Comment below and let me know! 13. Hey guys, I've recently ordered My Xbox One with Battlefield 4 and a Titanfall pre-order. But I've been hearing mixed thing about Battlefield 4. I know about some of the bugs and glitches but how bad is it really? Is it really 'unplayable'?
  14. This April update brings improvements to your Friends list, GameDVR quality, new audio settings and much more. Neogaf user, Banjo-Kazooie recently revealed the improvements set to launch with the new update coming to the Xbox One in April. The update (referred to in his post as 'Update 1404') includes a plethora of new improvements some of which will not be available in the initial 1404 update. The updates and improvements coming to with the update are as follows: Game and app saves and updates. A game save progress bar will show you the status of your game saves. You will also be able to easily tell what games and apps are being updated or have been updated recently. Friends improvements. Notifications will be added to see when favorites and friends sign in to Xbox Live. This actually was one of the most frequently requested features from the first preview wave and we made it a priority to include it in the April update. Also, friends who are in multiplayer will be identified in the friends list. We’ll also add the ability to view friends’ most popular apps. Blu-ray 50 Hz video output support for content recorded at 50 Hz will resolve video playback issues some Xbox Live members in Europe are experiencing. Kinect voice and motion improvements will continue to fine tune the quality and reliability of Xbox One commands. Improved GameDVR video quality through compression algorithm improvements. Updates to Xbox One device management to address issues controlling TVs, set top boxes, and receivers that our customers have reported. New audio settings to tune how much volume is lowered when Kinect is used in communications. Again, this update will be coming in April, so stay tuned for more updates. 15. One of Forza's artists has just revealed concept art that looks to be for the next Forza title, Forza: Deep South. Forza Motorsport 5 was met with critical success as somewhat of an early system seller for the Xbox One, with Dead Rising, as it received critical praise as one of the most beautiful games of 2013 and won Best Driving Game at the VGX. Naturally, driving fans and Forza fans are excited for what is in store for the game's future, which may be set in the Louisiana Bayou, a strange advancement from Forza 5's industrial city areas. The artist who leaked the photos hinting at the next game works directly with Dhurva Interactive, whom if you remember designed quite a bit of art for Turn 10 in Forza 4 and Forza Horizon. His reveal came directly from his cghub.com account where he leaked two photos reminiscent of the bays and bayous of the Deep South, possibly hinting at a new spin-off series like Horizon, or a Horizon sequel like was leaked much earlier this year. View attachment: Forza-Deep-South.jpg To add fuel to the fire of a Horizon 2, team members at Playground Studios, who developed the original Horizon, claim to be working on an Xbox One title. One artist by the name of Simon Gibson, said that, "Responsible for overseeing the internal and external (outsource) production of all vehicles for for the project." Leading all of these links to point to a Forza Horizon 2 set in the Deep South Bays and Lakes, which could turn out well on the Xbox One's new capabilities for lighting effects. View attachment: Forza-Deep-South-2-610x271.jpg An interesting design choice and change, but for those who enjoyed the open roads of Colorado and the banks and turns of Prague in Horizon and Motorsport 5, this might be one Forza to look at deeper before deciding on a purchase.

  17. A recent slue of rumors and debates argued whether Titanfall would run at 1080p or not, today we have learned that Titanfall will be running at native 792p at Launch. Titanfall's grand launch on Xbox One and PC is fast approaching with the midnight release already happening in some places, so naturally, fans of the game wondered what the resolution would be, seeing as it is so late in the pre-release window. Today, it's been officially confirmed by lead engineer Richard Baker that Titanfall runs just short of 800p. Richard said that, "There was an issue with decals taking a lot more time than they should which we fixed for launch, The worst-case scenarios are better, I think. The average is probably about the same as the beta." Reports had already surfaced on sites like mp1st.com that the game would run at this level, but nearly no one could believe the rumor to be true, as they believed this would be the first hit exclusive to run at a full 1080p. View attachment: titanfall0617-610b.jpg This however, does not mean that this couldn't be rectified in a patch in the near future. In fact, it's likely that the game will be patched. Baker went on to say, "For day one it's not going to change. We're still looking at it for post-day one. We're likely to increase resolution after we ship." This could mean that a 1080p Titanfall will exist somewhat in the near future after a couple of patches. This is sad information for those who were expecting much higher resolutions from the game, but has this swayed your opinion on purchasing Titanfall for Xbox One? View full article
  18. Infinity Wards 'Call of Duty' series is so closely tied to the XBOX that when it was realized Microsoft's newest console could not support 1080p directly it was seen as a big discrepancy between the XBOX One and PS 4 consoles. Mark Rubin, executive producer at Infinity Ward explains the reasons to interviewer Wesley Yin-Poole of Eurogamer.net. Here is some insight from an earlier article. "If there is something about the Xbox One hardware that's to blame, it is the way it allocates memory resources", Rubin suggests. Microsoft's console reserves 10 per cent of GPU time for its operating system. As Digital Foundry's Richard Leadbetter describes it, features such as Kinect skeletal tracking account for "precious resources that are inaccessible to game developers". Rubin discusses this issue, and more, in the below interview. Xbox One Resolutiongate: Call of Duty: Ghosts dev Infinity Ward responds Original Article by: Wesley Yin-Poole Eurogamer.net Creating a next-gen launch title sounds like a nightmare. Can you explain exactly the challenges you faced? Mark Rubin: It is for our engineers, especially. Fortunately, both Xbox One and PS4 are very much like PC, more so than the last generation. That helped enormously. If the systems had their very peculiar architecture, like they did in current gen, this would have been a different conversation. But because of that the development this time around it was significantly easier. I have experienced the current-gen launch. I was at Infinity Ward for COD 2. When we launched it was just PC and Xbox 360, but that was our first console, period. There was a lot to learn leading up, but that was just one console, when all it was was PC and that new console. And that was an interesting challenge. So to do PC, current-gen two SKUs and next-gen two SKUs, was a massive challenge. Working with the theoretical hardware would have been a disaster if... honestly, the hardest thing to deal with is not the architecture. It's the OS (operating system) of the systems. That's the thing that comes on the latest. The Xbox One's OS on their box versus the Sony OS, becomes the hardest. All the SDKs and stuff you have to work with - that's the stuff that changes, not the hardware itself. What about the operating systems, exactly, is the problem? Mark Rubin: There's stuff in the console's OS that interacts with the game. So, for instance, voice chat is often supported by the hardware manufacturer rather than the software, and you're just using their channel. When that stuff is changing - because they're developing it on their side - and the resources they're using are changing - your, from a game design standpoint, challenge is with trying to make enough room for those resources to be used but at the same time use as much resources as possible. One of the greatest challenges the engineers have to deal with is memory management, or thread management. There are X number of threads in your CPUs. Where in those threads is the stuff that's Microsoft or Sony? Where does it fall? How does it work? We don't have the SDKs for those features yet, and then they come in and you go, okay, well it needs 3MB of RAM - oh, crap, we only allocated two! You can't just take a MB from anywhere. It's not like there's just tonnes of it just laying there. You have to pull it from something else. And now you have to balance that somewhere. It becomes a massive change internally for our entire engine, if they add a few MB to the amount of resources they need, or if they require all their processes to be on one thread. If it's not multi-threaded then we have to put it on one thread. Now we have to find space on one thread, where that can live, that it's not creating a traffic jam on that thread. Sometimes we have to be like, okay, we have to move all this stuff over to a different thread and then put that in to that thread, just to manage traffic. That's what engineers are often doing: managing the traffic of CPU threads and memory and where that's going, allocating memory, what kind of memory is it? Is it dynamic? Sometimes what has to happen is we have to allocate the 3MB straight off the bat and just say, these 3MB, specifically, these actual memory addresses, have to be used for this. They can't be used anywhere else. Whereas dynamic, it's like, okay, I need 3MB but it doesn't matter where those 3MB come from. So all that stuff can change on the fly. And you're trying to develop your system to match with that, and it's two systems, now, not just one: Sony and Xbox. That creates a massive engineering nightmare. Wow. It sounds harder than I realised. Is all that you've just described the reason the Xbox One version is native 720p and the PS4 version is native 1080p? Mark Rubin: In a way. I don't know if I can point to one particular cause. Early on, we didn't know where exactly the resolution of anything would fall because we didn't have hardware or the software to support it. We tried to focus in on 1080p, and if we felt like we were on borderline of performance somewhere... We tried to make the best decision for each platform that gives you the best-looking game we could get and maintains that 60 frames a second. There's no specific, oh, well, the VO chat on Xbox took up so much resources that we couldn't do 1080p native. There's no definitive one to one per se cause and effect. It's just an overall thing. We took each system individually and said, 'okay, let's make the best game for each system.' I think both look great. Some people might notice if they had them right next to each other. Some people might not. The Xbox One is 1080p output, it's just upscaled hardware wise. It was a late decision, too. That call wasn't made until a month ago. Put me in your shoes when you were told this was going to be the case. I assume your engineering team explains to you this is the way it has to be. How did you guys react internally? Could Microsoft engineers not have helped? Mark Rubin: It's not a thing, like pointing to the day he came and said... It wasn't like that. It's a long process. And we're always working with both platforms. There were Microsoft engineers there throughout development. They were always there. There wasn't an event, per se. There wasn't a meeting. It was just something that developed over time. Everybody was involved. Obviously the PR guys, when they found out, when they were told, that was more of an event than the devs sitting at work working on it. So you'd have to ask them. What everyone will ask is whether this is the result of the Xbox One simply not being as powerful as the PS4, and you're doing your best with the hardware you have, or whether for future versions you may be able to get the Xbox One version running natively at 1080p? Mark Rubin: It's very possible we can get it to native 1080p. I mean I've seen it working at 1080p native. It's just we couldn't get the frame rate in the neighbourhood we wanted it to be. And it wasn't a lack of effort. It wasn't that it was like last minute. We had the theoretical hardware for a long time. That's the thing you get pretty quickly and that doesn't change dramatically. It was more about resource allocation. The resource allocation is different on the consoles. That huge web of tangled resources, whether it's threads-based or if it's GPU threads or if it's memory - whatever it is - optimisation is something that could go theoretically on forever. I definitely see slash hope both platforms will look way better the next time we get a chance at it. As an obvious analogy - and if people are not sure about this it's pretty simple - look at Call of Duty 2 versus COD 4. It was a massive leap forward in graphics, and that's just because it takes time to get through this. First launch, first time at bat at a new console is a challenging one. That's just the way it is. For people fearful one system is more powerful than the other or vice versa, it's a long game.

  20. I think it would be everyone's dream if 343 Industries made Halo 3 for Xbox One. I mean don't get me wrong, Halo 3 was practically the best game to play back in the day. If they made Halo 3 for Xbox One, I'm sure everyone would want to buy it. Perhaps not for $60, but maybe $25 or something.

  22. It was announced that the Xbox One system update would be coming today, but Larry Hryb aka Major Nelson announced that the update will not be arriving today but sometime this week as it still needs to be finalized. There has been quite a lot of rumors buzzing around regarding Microsoft this week, mostly coming from Neogaf by the user of "ntkrnl". There has been several rumors including a Halo 2 anniversary edition being set to release this year and Halo 5 being delayed as many of you may already know. But many of us were unsure on how to take these rumors but according to Kotaku nktrnl is connected to microsoft and they are seeking legal action against these leaks. "So how valid is this stuff? Well, thanks to a reliable source, I've been able to confirm that ntkrnl is indeed connected to Microsoft, although I haven't been able to verify any of the poster's claims. Just because the leaker is in a position to know this information doesn't mean this information is true. (When I reached out this morning, Microsoft declined to comment.)" Another Kotaku statement. "On top of all that, according to one person familiar with the situation who spoke to me under condition of anonymity, Microsoft is currently trying to track down and identify ntkrnl. According to that person, Microsoft executives are looking to take legal action against ntkrnl, which, again, doesn't mean that everything he says is true." With the recent showing of the Limited Edition Titanfall Controller, which has received critical acclaim for it's design, players will be disappointed to learn that they cannot use that controller for their PC copy of Titanfall. This was no surprise earlier as Microsoft stated they would implement support for Xbox One controllers in 2014, but recently, an employee of Respawn surprisingly replied to the question of "Will you support the Xbox One controller on the PC?" With a yes. Shortly after, they deleted the message with a saddening "No," stating in an apology form: "We don't, sorry. I saw 'Xbox controller.' We support 360, not One on PC." Now just because Titanfall will not have Xbox One controller support on launch, does not mean it will not come in the future. Not only is a profitable move, but making it compatible as quite easy, as it's already been done by one Chris Gallizi, a hacker, who sorted out the driver situation. Has this changed your mind about getting Titanfall on the PC? Source: GameSpot.com Twitter.com
