  1. This April update brings improvements to your Friends list, GameDVR quality, new audio settings and much more. Neogaf user, Banjo-Kazooie recently revealed the improvements set to launch with the new update coming to the Xbox One in April. The update (referred to in his post as 'Update 1404') includes a plethora of new improvements some of which will not be available in the initial 1404 update. The updates and improvements coming to with the update are as follows: Game and app saves and updates. A game save progress bar will show you the status of your game saves. You will also be able to easily tell what games and apps are being updated or have been updated recently. Friends improvements. Notifications will be added to see when favorites and friends sign in to Xbox Live. This actually was one of the most frequently requested features from the first preview wave and we made it a priority to include it in the April update. Also, friends who are in multiplayer will be identified in the friends list. We’ll also add the ability to view friends’ most popular apps. Blu-ray 50 Hz video output support for content recorded at 50 Hz will resolve video playback issues some Xbox Live members in Europe are experiencing. Kinect voice and motion improvements will continue to fine tune the quality and reliability of Xbox One commands. Improved GameDVR video quality through compression algorithm improvements. Updates to Xbox One device management to address issues controlling TVs, set top boxes, and receivers that our customers have reported. New audio settings to tune how much volume is lowered when Kinect is used in communications. Again, this update will be coming in April, so stay tuned for more updates. SOURCE:NEOGAF
  2. This is actually new to me as I have just stumbled upon some news about this Xbox One feature after it has been known for a couple of months, it's called Xbox One upload studio. Xbox One upload studio is a tool that allows users to edit, theme and share videos they have recorded from their video games and present them on their own channel for other gamers to see. Each users channel will most likely be attached to and accessible from that users own Xbox One profile. If you had an amazing, funny or weird moment while playing a game you could record it and upload it to your channel for the Xbox community to see. Quoted from news.xbox.com "At EVO 2013, one fan went undefeated for hours in “Killer Instinct” until at long last the best player on the “Killer Instinct” development team was able to defeat them. Using Game DVR, they were able to record the best parts of the highly competitive set of three matches. With Upload Studio, they were able to quickly turn it into a stylized video clip that could be shown off locally, like during a panel at Comic-Con, or broadcast through Xbox Live for the world to see." "If you want to share gameplay footage immediately without editing it, Xbox One also supports that. Simply say “Xbox record” at any time and the console will record what happens next for you to send to your friends or upload to the Internet." Here is a video from IGN with Xbox's Creative Director Matt White giving a brief walkthrough on how it works.
  3. Microsoft and Ubisoft have teamed up to create an awesome Xbox One bundle releasing this fall! So if you've been looking for a great deal on an Xbox One and want two awesome games inside, I've got the perfect new bundle for all your needs. IGN.com reported on the new Assassin's Creed bundle for Xbox One, which will include two hit AC games. Assassin's Creed Unity and (strangely enough) Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag will be included in the package. Just for your information, both games will be downloadable codes rather than physical copies. Alongside the two games is your typical Xbox One with your usual controller and headset package. There will be two versions of this bundle, one for $400 without the kinect sensor, and for $500 with the sensor and Dance Central Spotlight included. The bundle will release on November 2nd, 2014 but Unity won't be playable until it's street date release on the 11th. View attachment: Xbox-One-AC-Unity-bundle.jpg Are you picking up this bundle when it releases and is it a good deal in your eyes? Let me know down below! Cheers!
  4. On the Xbox One's first day in China, September 29th, the system reportedly sold a whopping 100,000 consoles! The Xbox One, despite it's rough start in 2013, seems to be picking itself up off the ground and running boldly. According to GameInformer.com, the console has apparently sold 100,000 units in China on it's first day. We unfortunately can't put these numbers in comparison with the Xbox 360 or even the PlayStation 4 or 3 as this is the first console to release in China after a twelve year ban. PlayStation plans to launch the PS4 in China in December, so we can come back then and compare day one sales. So far though, the Xbox One is the leading (and only) console in China. Despite this, the PS4 is still kicking ahead as far as we known in total sales. Even though we now have day one numbers in China alone, current sales numbers have not been released, though before the holiday begins I'm sure Microsoft will update us on sales numbers, as the last we heard in total sales was 5 million shipped. View attachment: xbox-one-white.jpg Does the news of the Xbox One's success pleasantly surprise you? Or did you expect the console to make a leap soon? Let me know below! Thank you very much for reading!
  5. I'm not late, it doesn't count! We have your usual three articles today, tried to spice it up by making them a bit more diverse this time around. So sit down, get your popcorn, and prepare for- What? I need to leave the premises? Why? I don't work here anymore? That's insane! You're getting the swat dogs, okay I'm out! Before we start the link in the article below does contain coarse language, viewer discretion is advised. View attachment: WNW 71914.JPG Ashley Johnson (Ellie, The Last of Us) Responds to Ubisoft Female Assassin Controversy Ubisoft has been under heavy fire from Gaming Press, Gamers, and men and women alike in the gaming media for their decision to not include a playable female Assassin. Ashley Johnson, best known as Ellie from The Last of Us, is one of those women, as she has fired at Ubisoft according to Polygon.com. Leaving out Ashley's choice words likely too mature to be fully stated here, she is completely against the decision, saying, "It's 2014! How many video games do you have to make to realize maybe have an option to have a female be in there?" Her co-star in the game, Troy Baker, has made a much less volatile statement, cautioning the idea of forced inclusion of females. Ubisoft has tried to quell the massive response of angered gamers, but even their wide array of efforts have done little to stop people. Ubisoft is composed of a diverse library of employees, men, women, foreigners, and for the most part anything in between. They were also under similar fire for controversy over the Far Cry 4 cover art showcasing a lighter skinned man holding down a darker skinned man. View attachment: ellie-and-joel-the-last-of-us_121708.jpg What's your take on this ridiculous controversy? Debate below! Sony announces two new PS4 bundles in Japan: Custom Destiny Bundle and The Last of Us Bundle PlayStation 4 bundles have been popping up in massive degrees lately, between the Driveclub bundle announced and the recent questionable Frozen bundle, Japan has a wide variety of different PlayStation 4s to choose from, and now we can add two more to that list. IGN.com states that Sony has announced a Destiny bundle with a custom console, and a The Last of Us Remastered bundle with a custom TLOU: R themed PS4. The Destiny bundle is the same as it is here in United States, save for the Destiny logo imprinted unto the console. The Last of Us Remastered bundle includes the game, the PlayStation 4 with the two main characters on the cover, and the DualShock 4, all in their signature black. Destiny is slightly different sporting the Sony logo on it's bottom right corner as well, as it is a PS4 exclusive in Japan. The bundles will likely be the same price as your typical game/console bundle. Xbox One Summer Update Features Mobile Purchases, 3D Blu-Ray Compatibility, and More The Xbox One has received quite a few helpful updates following it's launch about a year ago, including a helpful video editor. These features include a refined Activity feed, a whole area dedicated to your friends and their activities on the hub, mobile purchases allowing you to buy Xbox items from your device or computer, a low battery notification that pops up on your screen, the ability to turn off notifications during video playback, an enabler for 3D Blu-Ray, an old feature returning from the Xbox 360 allowing you to see what your friends were last doing and when, and OneGuide in a slue of other countries. 8. Halo: The Master Chief Collection delay has been lifted for the vast majority of the locations that were hit with it, 343 has now revealed, as it will almost be getting a same day world wide release. Originally Europe was suppose to see a three day delay for the release of Halo: The Master Chief Collection, meaning it would to be coming out on November 14th instead of the 11th. But after a new announcement about the collection going gold 343 Industries have now said that the game will now release on the original intended date, November 11th. Yes the delay (as short as it was) has now been lifted for the vast majority of the locations that saw the delay in the first place. However, France will still be seeing the delayed November 14th release date whereas Belgium will only see a one day delay and it will release on November 12th. Japan will be the only one to have the November 13th release date as the other parts of Asia where the game will release will have the November 11th release. Here's 343's announcement on this. "One of the questions we get asked most is about worldwide release plans. The reality of worldwide sales and retail processes always makes simultaneous launches challenging. Some fans expressed disappointment in our original planned release date of November 11 in North America and November 14 in several other territories around the world. We heard you loud and clear, and I am happy to announce that Halo: The Master Chief Collection will be released on November 11 for the majority of our fans around world!" "There are still a few countries that will see a slight delay due to public holidays. In Europe, Belgium will release on November 12 and France will release on November 14 as part of their typical Friday release schedule. Our fans in Japan will see a release of November 13. Given the social aspects of the experience, we were really happy to get it as close to a simultaneous worldwide release as possible so that we can all celebrate on November 11 and start playing together." So there you have it, the delay has been lifted and most of the global markets will see a November 11th release. Tell us your thoughts on this news, let us know if you will be joining the majority of the world when The Master Chief Collection releases on November 11th or the few that still has the short delay. 9. Finally, the dimming promise of heists in Grand Theft Auto V: Online seems to be coming to fruition as Rockstar has confirmed the feature will be added in the first major update for the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game. You may hear rumor of the fabled legend of heists in Grand Theft Auto Online, how people ranted in droves when the feature was never implementing, and how it soon became rumor and speculation. Well, seems the legend of the implementation of this heist is coming to life as GameInformer.com reports. They confirmed, as Rockstar did, the game would implement heists when the first major update on current gen appears. When and what else is in this update though, Rockstar decided to remain ambiguous on, stating the usual slogan of, 'we'll have more to reveal on that soon' sadly. This update will be available on all consoles (and eventually PC) so if you still play on PS3/Xbox 360 don't fret. As for those of you who are upgrading, you're making a very valuable choice with the added additions of 32 player Online, new wildlife and environment details, upgraded visuals, and of course, first person gameplay. The game launches next week on Tuesday, November 18th for Xbox One and PS4 for those of you interested in picking it up on those platforms. For you PC gamers, you'll have to wait until January 2015 for that version of the game, or of course, buy a console. View attachment: GTA-Online.jpg What's your take on heists being released so late despite being promised over a year ago? Let me know down below gamers and gamettes! See you all next time heist news comes in.
  10. Head of Xbox and Microsoft Studios, Phil Spencer, announced that the Xbox One UI will be getting customizable themes such as background screenshots and pictures. Phil Spencer sat down with TiC Podcast to discuss all things Xbox, he announced that the Xbox team are working on new ways for users to customize their Xbox One's dashboard. Such things will include the ability to take pictures and in-game screenshots to set as the background for the dashboard. “I was told themes and background pics are something that we are working on and screenshots, you know people beat me up on screenshots,” Spencer stated. These features are still currently in development so there isn't a confirmed date when they will be released, all that can be said at this time is they will come with a future monthly update. He went on to say "I think both themes, backgrounds and screenshots are things I know people want so we are going to deliver on them. But we can’t give a when yet.” The Xbox UI will be more customizable than ever when these updates roll out in the future, and no doubt having the ability to create personalized images and in-game screenshots will pique the interest of many Xbox users. Be sure to check out the full podcast What do you think of these new features? Are you happy to hear in-game screenshots and images can be used to customize your own dashboards? 11. Today, Bethesda and Zenimax announced that The Elder Scrolls Online will be coming to consoles free of charge with the new Tamriel Unlimited Edition! If you don't remember, I did an article about a week back stating how Bethesda was hinting at the console versions of The Elder Scrolls Online being Free-To-Play, turns out, I was right. Today Bethesda announced over at PlayStation's (no word on the Xbox version yet) that the game will be launching this June 9th, earlier than expected, with the ability to play without a subscription fee. If you're wondering how much that saves you, consider the fact that the game costed $15 a month on top of your regular Xbox Live/PSN fee. As well, it has been decked out with a new white box art compared to the old standard version. Word on whether the PC version will be experiencing the free-to-play update is unknown, but likely, and same goes for the Xbox version, though both are nearly confirmed. Pre-orders for the Tamriel Unlimited Edition have not been updated yet, though I'll link them if they go up soon. View attachment: esof2p.png I'm quite pleased that Bethesda is doing this, though I can understand why PC players might feel that they've been used as scapegoats and beta testers for an unfinished and fee-ridden game. So if you feel that way, it's understandable, I won't argue, still great for console players though. What are your thoughts, will you be picking ESO up now? Let me know below, and thanks for reading! By the way I wanna thank Yang Xiao Long for linking this to me!

  19. Rumors have been going around that there is a possibility for cross-platform gaming with the next gen consoles. For example if some players are playing Destiny on PlayStation Network and other players are playing it on Xbox Live then they'd be able to play together because they're playing the same game. Now, I don't think that they'd do this simply because of the competition between the two gaming consoles and although it'd unite a gaming community, that's not what business is about. Keep in mind that these games are being held on the same developer servers. Here's some things that others had to say: Azaxx says, "Across PS4 and Xbox One, it has a very slim chance. It works because of being consoles, but may not happen because Sony/MS. And PC to consoles simply will not happen. Way to OP for PC to be playing." Halo5 follower said, "well, there was a rumor that the PS3 game, Dust514, would be able to play with Xbox. However, that was just on Youtube, so the reliability of it was pretty low. If microsoft can talk to Sony then a guess things may start to happen..." Contrary to the beliefs above Ledgend 1221 had this to say, "With Games like ESO, I'd say there's a chance it will happen. At least I hope so, it would be fun to duke out the rivalry in an online arena. PCs should remain separate, too much of a gap." Archangel Tyrael chimed in about PC cross platforming as well as console and said, "I don't think cross platform servers will be done. Mainly for PC; PC will dominate for these various reasons: 1.) Easier and precise aiming. 2.) Modding can be done easier and hackers. This will be a serious problem. 3.) More control. 4.) Putting PC players and consoles players together would cause a lot of butthurt fanboys and unfair gameplay. That's just for the PC. Now I am not saying it's impossible for Xbox and PS to share servers, but in my opinion, it wont happen. Xbox and PS are rival consoles. Not only that, there is already servers for Xbox and Sony; that leads me to think they will be to their own console. While, it might be nice it just wont happen and shouldn't because of the last PC reason -- even for MMO's like: TESO, and anymore that are to come." TexHellsAngel376 has a similar belief to mine and told me, "I don't think MS and Sony will stop fighting enough to do it." Will the dream of cross-platform gaming ever become a reality? Discuss and leave your thoughts below.
  20. Microsoft will offering unlimited cloud storage for the Xbox one a MaximunPC article states. The news came out of PAX Australia, here is what a Microsoft rep said about it. "Xbox Live offers Xbox One unlimited storage space in the cloud for all Xbox Live members to store numerous types of Xbox Live content, including your profile, games, Achievements and entertainment. This content is stored and saved in the cloud so you can automatically access it anywhere, anytime, no matter where you are." With the change of policies such as removing the used games restrictions the Xbox one has slowly but surely been getting back on track and with another positive announcement it will certainly help improve it's reputation a bit more.
  21. Here is an update on the latest about the fee on wanting to play a preowned games on the Xbox One, and it's looking grim. Microsoft's Phil Harrison mentions that within one household only one XBOX can play any given game or you have to purchase it again. So in a house that has 4 XBOX One's for example, they would have to purchase the original game plus three more digital copies of it. $240.00 paid for one game in one house This article is from Eurogamer on their interview with Phil Harrison trying to explain this situation. Thanks to AD for finding this article. Whether or not you agree with Microsoft's ideas and goals for Xbox One, at least they are generally pretty easy to understand. The one exception today has been how game ownership works and especially the Xbox One's attitude to sharing between friends and reselling games, which has resulted in conflicting and confusing reports. The confusion is such that as I sat transcribing and making notes four hours after I interviewed Phil Harrison earlier today, a Microsoft PR tapped me on the shoulder and invited me back to the boardroom so that Harrison could take another swing at explaining this surprisingly complex issue. "So, think about how you use a disc that you own of an Xbox 360 game," he began. "If I buy the disc from a store, I use that disc in my machine, I can give that disc to my son and he can play it on his 360 in his room. We both can't play at the same time, but the disc is the key to playing. I can go round to your house and give you that disc and you can play on that game as well." "What we're doing with the digital permissions that we have for Xbox One is no different to that. If I am playing on that disc, which is installed to the hard drive on my Xbox One, everybody in my household who has permission to use my Xbox One can use that piece of content. [so] I can give that piece of content to my son and he can play it on the same system." Harrison then explained what happens when you want to take that game beyond the borders of your own home and into a friend's place. "I can come to your house and I can put the disc into your machine and I can sign in as me and we can play the game," he explained. "The bits are on your hard drive. At the end of the play session, when I take my disc home - or even if I leave it with you - if you want to continue to play that game [on your profile] then you have to pay for it. The bits are already on your hard drive, so it's just a question of going to our [online] store and buying the game, and then it's instantly available to play." "The bits that are on the disc, I can give to anybody else, but if we both want to play it at the same time, we both have to own it. That's no different to how discs operate today." That makes the issue of game ownership a lot clearer than it has been at any point so far. Once you install a game, it is tied to your Xbox login, and in this way Microsoft can avoid scenarios where you buy a game, install it, then just give the disc to all your friends so they can install and play it without paying for it. The next issue is what happens when you finish with a game and want either to trade it in at a store or sell it on in another way. "We will have a system where you can take that digital content and trade a previously played game at a retail store," Harrison said. "We're not announcing the details of that today, but we will have announced in due course." Harrison would not be drawn on how this worked, even as I suggested various scenarios. For example, I asked whether you would need to pay for the second-hand disc at a store and then pay a fee to Microsoft when you got home, a bit like an Online Pass. Harrison wouldn't be drawn. "Our goal is to make it really customer-centric, really simple and really understandable and we will announce those details in due course." I got the impression from speaking to him - entirely my inference - that this Online Pass-style scenario of paying twice for second-hand, once at retail and once at home, was not the plan. But Harrison's reluctance to pre-empt this mystery announcement means that it is still a possibility. To me, the fact that Harrison was talking about a forthcoming announcement rather than just clarifying the detail suggests that whatever strategy Microsoft does have for this second-hand resale process may involve a specific partner. Perhaps Microsoft has done some sort of deal with GameStop or a similar retail entity. Anyway, I took the opportunity of a second audience with Harrison to ask some follow-ups about Xbox One's always-online aspects as well. "Some bits of the system will work offline," he said. "I think the key point to make is that Xbox One requires an internet connection, but it does not need to be connected all the time. We think that most of the biggest games on Xbox One and most of the games and experiences and services you want to use will be internet-connected." Everybody got that? Xbox One requires an internet connection, but not all the time. "I don't want to trivialise the issue because I know people are passionate about it, but I think most people will realise that the vast majority of content and experiences that they will want to enjoy on Xbox One will be the ones that have an online connectivity," he continued. "I think where people have anxiety understandably is what happens when the internet connection goes down for a few minutes or a few hours. On our side, with the infrastructure investments that we as Microsoft have made in Azure and Xbox Live dedicated servers that we will have for Xbox One, we are very confident that we have the infrastructure to support all of the players and all of the connections. And although it's not directly an Xbox issue, it's something Microsoft is proven to be really good at with Office 365." After the tape was off, we chatted some more about the anxieties that have come to light today and over the last few months of speculation. I suggested that one of the reasons that our concerns about second-hand blocking, always-online and other related issues are so acute is that we don't have any real-world Xbox One examples yet to judge it. Our touchstones are things like Diablo 3 and SimCity, which were appallingly botched launches. Time will tell whether Microsoft can get the balance right with this stuff. Personally, I just want purely single-player games to work offline and the internet to enhance our games in transparent ways. We will have to wait and see whether Xbox One's use of cloud computation and online services muddies this situation or if the platform holder can succeed where Blizzard and EA failed.
  22. In an article posted Tuesday 3rd Sep 2013 on CVG, Microsoft spokesperson Larry (Major Nelson) Hryd was responding to suggestions that "Microsoft has rushed the console to market". Major Nelson said on Reddit: 'The Xbox One program has been in development for years, so calling it 'Rushed' is incorrect.' " This statement, along with many others, made by Microsoft about features, ease of use and having learned from the promises made of the XBOX 360 prior it's to release are now being seen in the light of day. Where the XBOX One's Upload Studio, Skydrive and more initial launch titles are noticeable strengths over Sony's PS4, the numerous problems with features, non user friendly interface and lack of some functions promised during it's preview are adding up. One of the most highly anticipated and heavily promoted feature of live streaming via Twitch was not present as promised by Microsoft. The service will not be available until sometime in 2014. James Orry of videogamer.com stated that, "This means Xbox One will be missing one of the most talked about and praised feature of the PS4.". This was not reported until just before launch after tens of thousands of gamer's had already pre ordered the console. Additionally the XBOX One's functions are almost all apps, which according to Edge-Online staff, "take too long to load, don’t offer the functionality that Xbox Live was built on, and are, inexplicably, badly handled by the OS." This sentiment is felt by many as you have to go through layers of commands to access information or functions that were previously available with one touch on the 360. The use of apps will make it much easier for MS to perform updates, but Edge noted that, "Xbox One’s debut user experience is stuttering, clunky, and a serious challenge to Xbox Live’s long-held status as the premier console service." . The best way to describe the XBOX One's current issue with the using the app system was given by Tom Phillips of eurogamer.net. He noted that "The company has already stated that the Xbox One interface is just its first version and, like the Xbox 360, it will be refreshed throughout the console's lifespan. But the console's operating system seems aimed towards further homogenisation with Windows 8, and away from successful Xbox 360 features such as the Guide button. And this is where things run into problems. Rather than having the system's features laid out in the Guide's single, simple interface, core pieces are now spread across separate apps. You must now return to the Home screen to individually load these features (your Friends list, Achievements, system settings) or snap these features using Kinect voice commands (although this doesn't work with everything)." Tom went on further to say, "Even within these apps, previously easy-to-reach features are now hard to find. Want to see which of your friends are online? You now need to load the Friends app, select "Friends" and click through to the system's confusing list of your acquaintances. Small green dots indicate who's actually online and who's not. This used to be on the Guide button, but was also part of the core desktop - accessible with a simple click of the right bumper. The Guide could also be used to view recent met players - a feature which has been removed entirely. It's a shame, as it makes Microsoft's much-lauded player ratings system pretty much impossible to use without it." Hopefully MS will consider making the necessary 'updates' to improve user interface and ease of use in very near future. Looking closer at the numerous articles, and even a new website that has been created to highlight the long list of issues with the new console, a number of them to show why so many feel it was rushed to market. Among them are party chat, which is plagued by connection problems between the various games, it's default settings and being forced out of party chat when beginning multiplayer on games like"Ryse - Son of Rome. Ryan King of NowGamer.com reported that, "There are a lot of issues with the new party system, such as not being able to manually invite individual friends to games while other friends are present in a party and problems with party chat (one example: party chat is set to off by default). One specific example of how the new party system has change things: Killer Instinct only allows two-man parties to play, so if you’re in a mixed party with others playing Forza or Battlefield, you can’t then play Killer Instinct while in that party. Partying up and getting into games worked well on Xbox 360 and it’s difficult to see what Microsoft was attempting with this new system, which seems restrictive without any real benefit." Another problem being noted with communication on the new platform is that when using Skype players are reporting their conversations, some of which may be private, are being heard in match making. Additionally the use of Skype and Upload Studio are also, "temporarily banning users who swear while using Skype and Upload Studio on Xbox One. Multiple users have taken to Reddit and the Xbox One forums after finding themselves locked out of the apps, presumably after submitting content - Either uploading gameplay streams or using Skype to make a private call - which included profanity. Based on the photo above, posted by Twitter user named Connor, the Xbox One tells banned users to 'choose something else to play... Because of their past behavior.' " , as reported by Michael Epstein of EscapistMagazine.com. Connor was given access back within 24 hours after having to contact XBOX support to rectify the issue. Though this matter is not a 'bug' in the system of the XBOX One, users may want to check their content settings which may be causing this to occur. Party chat is a widely used and integral part of using the XBOX Live service and having these type of issues clearly show that MS did not spend the time needed to ensure the communication system and the Skype interface would work properly. "Running home to momma" is being seen as another big problem when, "certain games tend to crash to Xbox Home and you can’t relaunch those games without rebooting the entire console. There are a number of different theories for why this happens – Xbox One running out of RAM thanks to games and apps not sharing the RAM well is the most popular theory – but Battlefield 4 is the game where the problem seems to be most frequent. NBA 2K14, Call Of Duty: Ghosts, Dead Rising 3 and Madden NFL 25 have also been reported to cause the issue.". Epstein goes on to note that, "You can’t quickly access your Friends List while in-game as quickly as you could on Xbox 360 and you can’t see a list of people you have recently played. There’s no ‘join session in progress’ option anymore. You can’t auto sign-in to your profile. There are no notifications when friends come online. Perhaps understandable given the longterm view of there being up to 1,000 friends but there should be some way for friends to be labelled ‘favourite’ and have notifications for them. Combined with the unwieldy nature of the new party system, it all combines for an unintuitive system that users have to learn. Compared to the simplicity of the Xbox 360’s party system, it feels like a step back." The ability to see the battery life of your controller or viewing remaining hard drive storage space is not available, voice messages are gone, using an external USB for storage or reading media is gone, you can't play music in the background during games, there's no option for custom backgrounds, no avatar store, etc. etc. For a complete list of missing, problematic or desired features you can visit xboxfeedback.com for viewing the extensive list or add to it yourself. Though this site appears to have gotten Microsofts Major Nelson's attention, based on this comment: "It was even spotted by Microsoft mouthpiece Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb, who commented to say that its suggestions had been passed on to the relevant people.", stated Tom Phillips of eurogamer.net .......... it is speaks volumes that players felt compelled to create a web site in order to get Microsoft to pay attention to the issues they are having and features they expected to return or want. Larry Hryb made this announcement on Reddit. "I had a meeting today about much of this and I can say that things will get better. I can't offer a timeline of a list of what will be addressed first, but we are aware of the issue and things will get better." One reporter made light of the comment saying it sounded like something a politician would say! How long it will take MS to address these issues is yet to be seen. We have heard these promise of lessons learned and quick fixes before. Placing products on the market without proper testing, applying unwanted features or allowing project staff time to polish or finish promised specific features is a becoming a hallmark of MS products and those of it's game studio. The XBOX One should be a gaming console first and foremost and respect it's consumers by offering finished products. Trying to be the "everything box" appears to have caused the core use of what an XBOX was originally created for, gaming, to suffer. It would be scary to see what problems would have occurred with the infamous "DRM" feature they were forced to abandon (at least for now) following a major out cry from the community had it been implemented. The gaming community bought into XBOX Live, the XBOX consoles and exclusive titles in the past which has allowed Microsoft to make a proverbial gold mine from all of their related gaming interests. There should have been more respect given the consumers who have helped build their gaming interests. The money would have still been there. They should not chased the release of the PS4 and kept to their own schedule. Most of us are here in this forum because of our love for the Halo series and the community that surrounds, or used to surround it. Though gamer's in general face the same issues members here are with the XBOX One, it is especially tangible to Halo players when we see another product from MS that is placed on the market, much like Halo 4 was from Microsoft Studios, without being finished or properly tested and has taken so long to get it close to what was promised. Halo 4's issues drove many long term fans away from the franchise which also may happen to XBOX Live and XBOX One console users if timely fixes are not applied now. Even though Microsoft is planning on improving and tweaking the dashboard in the coming months, with a larger update, codenamed "Threshold" , planned in the spring 2015, the time to address the problems was before launch. Fun Fact The use of the term "Threshold" is a reference to the planet the first Halo ring orbited in the original game in the series, Halo Combat Evolved.

  24. Over the past couple of days there has been an avalanche of Xbox news that has come out of this years GamesCom, from reveals of Halo: The Master Chief Collection to Xbox exclusive deals and new bundles. But one piece of news that has gone unnoticed by many (myself included) is that the Xbox One will soon allow users to watch Movies and TV shows from USB devices or DLNA through a home network. One of Xbox's lead engineers, Ashley Speicher, talked about a list of features that will be coming soon to the Xbox One in future updates and one of those features is that it will be compatible with a long list of media file formats, some that are already compatible with the Xbox 360 and some that weren't before such as .mkv, gif's, and Mpeg 2TS. "Soon, Xbox One owners will be able to watch videos, listen to music, and browse photos from USB and DLNA with the most popular file formats, including Mpeg 2 TS, .MKV and animated gifs by the end of the year," Ashley Speicher said in an interview with Xbox Wire. This feature will come to great use to Xbox One owners as it offers a large list of supported files but may somewhat bring controversy as pirated content can be used. To get the full listed of supported file formats click the source link below. Another useful feature that is coming will allow users to view their friends, join parties, read messages and view achievements through snap mode, so there won't be any interruption while playing games or using apps. One of the other new features coming is called "Threaded Messages" what that does is that it allows users to view full conversation history it can also be done. There will also be an update to friends activities, users will be able to view the most played games their friends have been playing and a Gamerscore leaderboard will be coming which will allow gamers to compare how much their Gamerscore has gone up compared to their friends over the last 30 days. Click the source below to watch the interview and to get a look at the new features coming to the Xbox One. What do you think about the new features and apps coming to the Xbox One? 25. Short Version: Skip to the bold red at the bottom. Long Version: Skip to the "Hey guys! I haven't posted a… Yada yada yada." Hey guys! I haven't posted a topic in the longest time… So it's kind of convenient that I'm having a problem right now. Ironic, I know. Anywho, here's the deal. I got this new Xbox One, right? The new CoD: Advanced Warfare bundle, ya? It looked so beautiful and I literally shed a few tears when I opened that package and saw it so neatly wrapped up with all that Xbox equipment. It was such a beautiful sight… Anyways, I get over my initial awe and open that bad boy completely up and set it on that spot next to my TV where my old Halo 4 Xbox sat, and I discover a few things. Well, only one thing, actually. I feel kind of stupid for not thinking of it before, but I was too excited! So apparently the Xbox One is too fancy for regular TV and it has to be connected to a "High Definition" TV, like it's too cool or something. Whatever. Anyway, I realized that my TV isn't HD, but I really don't want to get rid of it because it's a nice TV, great size, and it was FREE! BUT! But, but, but! I saw that my Direct TV cable box has an HDMI port on it, so could I connect my Xbox One to that instead of directly to the TV? Sorry if this is a stupid question but I'm not that tech savvy... I know this is kind of wordy for a simple question, but what can I say... RED BOLD TEXT HERE THAT SAYS NOTHING IMPORTANT: Does my Xbox One have to plugged directly into an HDMI port on the Television, or can I use my cable box? Or does it need to be plugged in at all?
