  1. I personally think you people wouldn't be crying so much if this game (Halo 4) was still made by Bungie. You are scared to change, to what 343i can do to your (and my) favorite franchise. But we cannot see the damn future. I think 343i is making a great job, and of course there are things I like and dislike, but I still look forwards Halo 4. >New weapons? Every halo game had new weapons. >Permanent Sprint? Spartans are very light-footed. They should be able to sprint. Even the Chief, and he is a Spartan-II and those are way more heavier than IV's. >Instant Spawn? What the hell, it lets you play more. >No Elites? Halo CE had no elites in Multiplayer. you didn't complain on dat. >"The weapons do not look the same, and do not perform the same as previous games" Every game had, its own looks and performance. >Armor abilities? There are always classic playlists. >Rankin' System? nobody should complain about that, Its just a game, and you progress, shouldn't matter how. >Looks too CoD? Let me remember you Halo came before CoD and was one (if not the first) of the first FPS on console. CoD looks like Halo, not backwards. Finally, you can't say anything about the gameplay until playing it by yourselves. Thanks.

  4. With Bungie there was a clan system where you could create, name, and organize leadership roles on their site. Does anyone know if this could be a upcomming feature?
  5. Is 343 ruining Halo: Reach? Sadly the answer is yes. Bloom is good! Why would they remove it? It seperates the noobs from the pros. Only 300 people play the TU Beta. Why? IT SUCKS. Notice how every playlist that gets the title update subsequently loses the majority of it's players. Every update has made the game worse. I hope 343 gets the message and stops ruining Halo: Reach. If any 343 staff is reading this, PLEASE STOP. YOU'VE ALREADY SCREWED UP HALO:REACH ENOUGH. Bungie was SOOOO much better. Please stop. It was amazing and now it's getting worse.
  6. Hello all, Like most of you, I am saddened by Bungie's recent termination of providing Halo data services. The services that we had all been accustomed to and had appreciated very much have ceased to exist. Since April 1, 2012, I have visited my online Bungie-provided Service Record for Halo 3, only to discover that my most recent games are no longer being logged for future reference -- no more showing my friends that amazing extermination I earned in Team Slayer, or priding myself in my aggregate medals I've achieved over four years of continuous game-play. I fear that, now that the data services have been terminated, this puts Halo 3, among other aging Halo titles, one step closer to having its online playing servers discontinued. In order to keep an invested interest in Halo 3 and other pre-Reach, Bungie-developed titles, I would like to see 343i and/or Microsoft take up Halo data services for the games that the entire Halo community still enjoys today. As of now, Halo Waypoint, the new source for online Halo data available through Xbox's website, only updates information for a player's Service Record for Halo: Reach and Halo: CE Anniversary. I would very much like to see existing Halo 3 data, as well as future data, be made accessible through Halo Waypoint as well. Perhaps even transferring all existing Halo data, including archived Halo 2 data, could be part of such a transition. I have created this thread for anyone who also shares the same sentiments to express their own thoughts on this matter. While I would like to see this change implemented, and perhaps it isn't even an issue 343i and/or Microsoft could feasibly address due to lack of legal control over financial/capital resources (or over rights to own/provide pre-Reach, Bungie-developed data), I would certainly at least like to entertain a discussion about any other viewpoints there may be. For instance, one might say "Halo 3 is coming up on five years old, and there needs to come a time where the old ceases to exist to make way for the new." Well, I disagree -- Halo 2, arguably the watershed title for making the Xbox LIVE experience what it is today, was discontinued because it was only for the original Xbox LIVE servers (which went offline April 14, 2010), which is a valid reason; however, as long as the current Xbox LIVE servers are online, I see no reason why one of the world's best-selling titles, the sequel to one of the "founding fathers" of Xbox LIVE, and its corresponding online data services, should be completely terminated. But, this is only one opinion, so... To all of those veteran Halo fans out there, especially those who still appreciate Halo 3 -- let me know what your thoughts are! -C6Vette
  7. Well as far as i know Bungie.net will be shut down on March 31st which means it wont be running again. But will 343 have a place to download the maps on the internet??? And will you be able to change your nameplate ever again???
  8. A few days ago Bungie.net released an article stating that starting March 31, 2012 Bungie.net will no longer be providing live support for Halo. This is the article. Last summer, Bungie and 343 Industries began a transition process for Halo data. On March 31st, 2012 that transition process will be complete, all live Halo data will be managed by 343 Industries, and Bungie will no longer be able to update game stats and player service records, to host new user generated content, or to operate the Bungie Pro service. All currently supported, Bungie-developed Halo titles will be impacted by this change. Any replacement functionality, and all future Halo support, will be provided by Microsoft and 343 Industries via Halo Waypoint at http://halo.xbox.com. Bungie will preserve all existing historical Halo data on Bungie.net for as long as the Internet and Bungie's data storage systems remain functional. Thanks for making the Halo-era version of Bungie.net more successful than we could have possibly imagined. You complete us. See you starside. To see this article, go here http://www.bungie.ne...pnews&cid=32028 This means that 343i will be solely responsible for Halo Reach starting March 31. What this means is that if you do not already have a profile on http://halo.xbox.com then now would be a good time to get one. Waypoint recently released this article on what these changes will entail for their site. http://halo.xbox.com/blogs/Headlines/post/2012/02/02/The-Halo-Bulletin-2112.aspx Here is what it says: What’s next for Halo Waypoint. Our friends at Bungie recently announced that as part of Halo’s transition to 343, they will no longer update game stats and player service records, host new user-generated content, or operate the Bungie Pro Service after March 31. There has been a lot of discussion and some confusion around this transition, so we wanted to take a moment to tell you what will be affected and what’s next for Halo Waypoint. Starting on April 1, we will be increasing Halo: Reach File Share capacity from 6 slots to 24 slots at no extra charge. All Halo: Reach files, including films, screenshots, game types, and maps, will continue to be fully accessible in-game, just like they are today. We’re also excited to announce that we are bringing Halo: Reach File Share access to the web version of Halo Waypoint this summer. After March 31, there will be a short period where new Halo: Reach user-generated content will not be accessible from the web. While the real-time export of Halo 3 and Halo 3: ODST data to the web will not be supported on Waypoint at the time of this transition, data collection is still taking place. In fact, Halo 3 and Halo 3: ODST stats will continue to be reflected in your Halo Waypoint Career. To access your Halo Career, log on to the website, and click the drop-down arrow located to the right of your gamertag at the top of the screen. Then, click the Career Overview panel. There you will see the total number of Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, Halo Wars, and Halo: Reach Campaign and Multiplayer games you’ve played throughout your entire Halo career. You can also see Games Played, Time Played, Total Kills, and Kill/Death information for each title by selecting it in the Halo Stats Summary column. The most noticeable changes will include those features seen exclusively on Bungie.net, such as rendered films, nameplates, and Halo: Reach API keys. Those features are not included in the transition, and we do not have plans to develop similar features at this time. 343’s focus for the near future is ensuring that the Halo: Reach experience is the best it can be, both in-game and on the web, expanding our Halo Waypoint services, and making Halo 4, which you can expect to hear more about in the not-so-distant future. We’re excited about continuing to evolve the Halo franchise, and we thank you for joining us on this ride. <3, bs angel In summation, big changes are afoot. As it says in the article, there will be a period where the fileshare is not accessible through the internet. Be prepared to edit your posts/threads where you give a link to a map in your fileshare as well.
  9. When 343 took over halo they said they wouldn't mess with the bungie playlists, so i was expecting a seperate playlist for the beta which happened at first and now half the bungie playlist have been destroyed by tu slayer etc... It's not hard to have a playlist with the original gametypes and rules and have a seperate with the new rules, but you can play either with/without extra maps (puts you into game with other people with same map packs). I enjoy the anniversary maps but i'm fed up of being in gametypes where the pistol is superpowered, I hope 343 read this and use this idea cus it would make it alot better for everyone.
  10. Hi I am a bungie/343 worker named Brayden Marks and i will be up to date to make sure this site is not bad or something. Otherwise i wanted to say hi
  11. So which are you more excited to see? Bungie's new game, or what 343 Industries will do with the new Halo trilogy? Discuss who you think will do a better job with their games, how you think they'll approach incorperationg certain things into their games, or who will do a better job. Post what you think below! God bless you, -@RANMAN10
  12. Hey 343, can you reintroduce Bungie Pro or something similar so that we can have more file share slots. You should make it about about 800 MS Points
  13. My Gamertag is RANMAN10. The following is a list of my ideas for Halo 4 forge. In the following list, the things listed are not meant to be thought of as an all in one package, but each as individual suggestions. I realize some of the following items listed may currently be unrealistic or impractical, although I believe they are things that would advance customablity, and also make a drastic change to the gameplay of Halo 4. I do have to say that the things listed would widely open the players to a wider spectrum of creativity, due to the amount of options players would never before thought possible. Objects Options The following is describing options available for any or all objects and maps. Object Solid/Permeable options (For just objects, just players, or both) Object gravity/weight options Entire object color/textures/weather options Object size/proportion options Specific object spawn/vanish time options Object penetration options (How far you can shoot through an object) Object break options (Crack, break, crumble) – this option could be accompanied by damage options which would be how fast these affects take place An object limit number display (right beside budget amount) Bigger object count Object group selection Longer object spawn times (current maximum is three minutes) Functioning options not only for all players, but players apart of specific teams (On/off) ((Example: A vehicle with functioning off would serve for aesthetic reasons)) A “show all” option in item options, which would display a waypoint above every item of that type. An undo/duplicate option. For example, for the undo option, executing an action like placing or deleting a block or item, and being able to undo it. An object limit instead of a budget count. Downloadable object packs Most objects being available on all or most maps Individual Objects Crashed vehicles (Including Pelicans, Phantoms, Elephants) Windows with breakable glass with color, strength, tint, and “one way” damage and view options. Mirrors. (I realize this would take up more angle render usage) Placeable Invisible barriers like in the Halo 3 campaign that have no specific touch, but a strength of resistance Placeable death barriers. Placeable cameras with perspectives that would be viewed through a control panel or display that is accessed by pressing an action button (The RB, B, or X button) or viewed by approaching and viewing the screen. Doors with both/one way options. Automatically opening/functioning doors. Team and or individual life number per round or game. Numbered custom power up options (like teleporter channels but when traits are set to a number, any custom power ups set with that number will take those traits) Longer custom power up duration times (like 5, 10, 15 minutes, etc, or the entire game) Civilian vehicles (Like in ODST) A huge, flat object that could be used for ground, walls, or ceilings of an entire map. Stalagmites and stalactites for caves. A system where you can use more of an object than what you are allowed, but when you do it takes down how many you can use of another similar budgeted/sized object. Example, in Sandbox on Halo3, forgers are limited to 40 double walls. If a player chooses to use a 41st double wall, then another box would appear for a “substitute” item. The player would then choose what object they would no longer be able to use, ( “‘Sub’ block”) such as a double block, leaving a player with 41 double walls placed on the map, but now only 39 double blocks or single walls left available for placement. Missile pods that are in a fixed position Turrets that aren’t detachable Vines, ropes, wires, nets, flood tentacles, etc.(Would have an assigned point(s) or “focal point” that would be attached to the object where it is placed.) Flood “spores” from the Halo 3 campaign (wouldn’t necessarily have flood inside) Working elevators (Smaller, normal sized ones for players, and a larger ones for vehicles) The hovering sniper towers you find often in the Halo 3 campaign, that typically have Jackal Snipers in them General city or civilian object like bridge guard rails, traffic lights, etc. Spinning fan wall pieces Anti-Air cannons from the campaign Planes of different materials, textures (Would also include water) Incredibly large natural pieces, much like the rocks on Halo: Reach, but much bigger, being hills, natural material inclines, cliffs, etc. Pieces for indenting the altitude on a map to hold a river, or to serve as an island Boats that could be controllable (But as recently mentioned, functionality could be turned off for certain players) Equipment from Halo 3. I believe most players would definitely enjoy the return of things like bubble shields, trip mines, and portable gravity lifts. Working vehicle doors much like the one on High Ground on Halo. A power option on Man Cannons that would dictate how far it would send you (To make this easier, there could be an icon that would appear that would show where the player would land)((This would also save item space)) Draw bridges that can be activated by a button, or be set to be raised or lowered ever certain amount of seconds. Game Options An option that would decipher when the only time, or the only time that things like power ups, vehicle, lights, or even weapons can or cannot be activated. Drop ship options, including on/off Covenant, flood, Spartan, etc., AI with difficulty, and on/off certain team options Weather options Map locks so other players than the original map maker can’t edit the map it is assigned to Once again, the listed items are ideas that are still being refined, thought of, and being thought of how it would work with the current fundamentals of Halo: Reach, and how it would play out in what I imagine might be available in Halo 4. (I know some of these things may not be available) Thanks for reading, Ransey J. Age 15, Tennessee -Xbox Live Gamertag: RANMAN10
  14. Okay now I am not the best with seeing the whole picture nor do I have keen sense of detail. I may be a bit of a Halo radical and I see that now. I didn't hate Reach and still don't, but I don't think it was the best Halo either. I honestly believe that many of the reasons the "core fan base" say they hate Reach for are actually in hindsight only coincidental affected aspects that are made to branch off from the real issues. And I believe one of those is that Reach wasn't really part of the epic and familiar trilogy we know and love. Reach on its own honestly didn't impress me much as a story I admit. Maybe it was a little sketchy because Bungie was kind of taking a leap of faith even though I am one of the many that promoted this. I still thought Reach had a great campaign the first time I played through, but it just lacked diversity or at least a feel of different scenarios. I think the main issue is that in truth Reach is like a entirely new IP in spirit and it failed to capture us like CE. It was like trying to breed a new and nostalgic feel in a evolved body, but that role is already cemented in CE. It is a prequel and was intended to stand alone from the other games. It didn't inherent the legacy and energy from the other games naturally. It truly had to be built from the ground up in that sense and this is what we missed. Maybe it would have been 5xs more impressive if it was Halo 4 and we were still with chief. If we were going with some passed on energy from previous games, but it wasn't. It was a stand alone title and relative to the cohesive glory of the other games it just didn't match up. And it didn't grab us like CE did when it kicked off the trilogy. But now I'm not going to try to rant about campaign or even about other aspects of Halo because like I said before I am not the best with details and seeing the whole picture. I don't hate Reach so I'm not going to rant anyway. I want to say hi and I hope to post some idea and discussion threads later on and get along with this community, and just observe the creative bomb rush of activity on these forums.
