Hey guys! After a few days of looking for where I left it, here is Site Poll 102!
A quick recap of site poll 101, which was asking your opinion on what armor you want our boy the Master Chief to be rocking in Halo Infinite. It seems the mix of old and new is exactly the look you guys have been looking for. That being said, we should have a lot to look forward to in the upcoming Halo title.
This weeks poll address not the game itself, but how we will be playing it.
The last year or so there has been a lot of buzz about whether or not Halo will ever really come to PC. There is word of a new console that may be announced this year, and a possible launch for 2020. That puts Infinite as a prime contender for a launch title. Will PC get Halo? Will Xbox One be left in the dust?

Hey everyone, it's Yashi here bringing you Site Poll 101!
Before we get to the poll, I would to thank UNSC Spartan-II, for doing such an amazing job creating these polls, and making them such a hit. I have been appointed to carry on the legacy for the time being, and I will try to not disappoint.
Last poll, the question was asked, what do you like most about the forums? We received many answers, but unlike most polls these answers were largely the same. It seems that the community that has grown here, the people, relationships, and memories made between all of us is what keeps everyone around, and in love with this place.
Recently there has been some more news on Infinite. One of the things we got to see was a possible design change to the Master Chief's armor once again. While 343 has said this is not the final product, it is likely this will be close to what we see in Infinite on our hero.
Everyone has there favorite Chief look, and we saw a drastic change to our hero between Halo 3 and Halo 4, and a slight change in Halo 5. It appears however, that Infinite is going back to Halo's roots and taking inspiration for Chief's armor from earlier games.
Which version of Chief's armor do you want to see? Halo 4 and 5's newer, bigger armor, or Chief's classic nostalgia scented armor? Let us know below! As always the poll is also available on Twitter

The forum has and always will have a special place in my heart. I still log on everyday and see whats up and try to post. That being said, I can't say that I particularly love were it it is right now.
Lets go back to early 2012 when I joined. I'd say that 99% of the regular members that would be in the shout box and on xbox everyday are no longer here. The shoutbox was something that was constantly going and messages would be gone in moments because of how many new messages were being sent. Long running jokes, rivalries, friendships and the like were rampant. PM boxes would have 5 or more messages in them every time you logged in, and notifications wouldn't be one or two, it'd be in the 50's some nights.
The forum has definitely slowed and I am willing to bet that the best days of the forums are behind us.
That being said, it isn't time to jump ship, it isn't time to give up because I still, and I assume many of you since you are here, get some level of enjoyment out of it and the people that are here. This place has made an impact on so many people. Go look at the profiles of older members that haven't posted or been seen in years. Many of them have logged on within a few months or a year. Sure they don't post but they come and check in because of the impact it has had on them.
Who knows, maybe when the new halo launches we will get some more activity and with an effort we can make this place pop again. Regardless of the state of the forum, and how many members are here as long as we continue to enjoy it thats all that matters.

There have been accusations made against Sikslik7, who is a community moderator. These accusations are that he is in league with the Russian government. This has large impacts on the forum as Russian interference with forum life can have disastrous effects on our members.
Sikslik has denied these accusations of collusion and has appointed me as special council to investigate these claims. I have done some research, investigating and even questioned a few key witnesses. Here are my findings.
Sikslik has been working with the Russian government clearly. If that is not enough evidence, here is some witness testimony. My questions are in green

I played probably about 10 hours so far. I love the game.
My only issue is just how many little things you have to do (like brushing your horse).

Buck.
Nathan Fillion is just so dreamy.
Real talk though, Buck is a fun character, his dialogue, personality and what have you made him fun in ODST. In Halo 5 we got to play with him, and I made it a point to play as Buck whenever I could because he is just that good.

Given the circumstances of the beginnings of the franchise, I think you can't really replace John at all. The whole series started off with being the "last of his kind", that's what made him unique. You were the only known reported Spartan left living, which is why in CE through Halo 2 just about everyone that comes into contact with Chief all have the same "whoah! OMG a Spartan" reaction. That being said, even the enemies in Halo CE through 3 all had the same kind of reaction. He was termed "Demon" for a reason. They all feared him....not the fact that he was a "Spartan". Adding Spartan III's and IV'd and V'S takes away the mystery, fear and inspirational aspect of what John was. On a side note, the newer Spartans are just plain cocky and arrogant. They way they introduced Palmer to Chief...just bonkers. Palmer meets him for the first time, and her response to him is "I thought you'd be taller"? Like seriously WTF?!?! It's gogdamn John-117 Master F-in Chief lady! She should have been either speechless, shaking in her armor or overly kissing his ass. She made it seem as they were equals...which clearly they are as far from equals as the color black is from white.
Moving forward, if they want to capture the same magic they need to irradicate the Spartans except for a handfull. They need to rebuild the legendary status of the few to promote the older feelings and overal feel of the PSartan Warriors within Halo. Noone is going to fear a single Spartan if they are as common as sand on the beach. At this point going back and making another Spartan II the lead would not make sense. John was "supposed" to be the last until the extended universe **** came into play. I understand canonicly they have expanded things, but you have to remember that a game is completely different beast than the books, comics, etc..
This is why John was the only Spartan in play throughout Halo CE to ODST. This is also why Spartan III's were isolated to only Reach and not incorporated into Halo 4 or 5. If they want to have a true spiritual successor to Halo beyond John, it needs to be a new augment or new Spartan, and like I said, there needs to be a catastrophic failure somewhere reducing the numbers, and or make something happen to the whole "Spartan Program" that makes the numbers dwindle and results in the remaining being special and the last of their kind.
None of the characters in the universe have anything on John. None have the battle hardness, training, intuition, humanity or humility that he has. No one even comes close in terms of what type of human/soldier he is.
I'm getting Order-66 vibes from this... I like it.
I agree with Twin. Chief has been center stage for all the main games, and up until Halo 5 he was a complete legend. Not saying that he isn't now, but he has a whole team of people that are in many respects his equal.
If you choose a character that is as powerful as MC, you undermine the whole character of MC. On the other hand if you go for the underdog type of character, you'll end up with something like Rookie or Noble 6 which we already have.
I think the two viable options would be to either be done with the one character crusade that Halo has been and that 343 needs to double down and improve on their group fighting and story telling that was seen in Halo 5 with the Blue Team and Osiris. The other option would never happen, but I think it'd be interesting is a game through the eyes of an someone like the arbiter. Who has just as much street cred, but a totally different experience.

Ashamed to admit, but I actually haven't! I just ran the numbers myself from what you linked in the OP, lol.
343's attempts to get people back into the game have always struck me as a bit... odd. I remember a while back (might have been HCS?) there was something where they publicly gave out a code for some special goodies during the stream. But I tried to redeem it about a half hour after the stream was over, and it had already expired. Just, why would you even put a time limit on something like that, let alone one so short? They should be doing everything they can to get people back onto Halo 5 given its dwindling population, especially for things like skins that they're giving away for free anyway. And yet they insist on hiding their incentives away behind a grind wall or ridiculous time constraints. Makes me wonder what the overall strategy is, you know?
I don't think that 343's real objective here with the skins is to bring people back to Halo 5. The population on Halo 5 is not going to ever get back to even being close to what it was a year ago, but thats ok. This is just my theory, but I think the magnum skin drop is just to cover their bases. I think they intend to have people busy on MCC until Infinite drops, and have Halo 5 serve more as a distraction from MCC. If they really wanted to get people back on H5 they wouldn't have pushed people back onto MCC recently.

If 343 wanted to make a good move, they'd include every weapon from previous Halo titles in multiplayer and Forge at least. If they don't make sense in the Campaign then that's totally understandable but give me back the Sticky Detonator!
Lol I forgot about the sticky detonator. Definitely a fun weapon, I wouldn't go as far as to say practical but it was fun.

For what situation though? I don't recall any situation where there's only Palmer and Halsey in charge of a ship. I thought Palmer was a joke when you posted it, she's certainly not an option. She's not even in the Navy, her Commander rank is exclusive to the Spartan branch.
The instance I am referring to is in Halo 5 when everyone is on Sunaion. As far as I remember, it was just Halsey and Palmer on the pelican that crashed (besides maybe some elites).
Palmer as a choice was a joke but I decided to double down and support it though, even though that is not my real choice for the poll. I am aware that her rank isn't in the sense that you were looking for, but I took the "whoever is best suited" part of your topic post as a loophole. Because technically, she was in command of the ship, and best suited for the matter. In the end your interpretation of your own topic is what really matters but thats just where I was coming from.

I really liked Delpen's response honestly. However, as much as I pick on Yoshi, I have to say that his response is dead wrong. Palmer has the rank of Commander and this is specifically about naval ship captains or Shipmasters. Come on @Yoshi1176
Uh... OP says whoever is best suited at the time. Given it was Palmer and Halsey and Halsey has a missing arm I would go as far as to say that Palmer WAS in fact the best suited in that situation. A real answer for me would be Keyes, for the reason you have given but I didn’t want to double down on that.

My favorite captain is Del Rio.
"Why," you might ask?
Captain Del Rio is perhaps one of the few examples in the Halo Universe of 'bad leadership', and with so many example of good leadership - Keyes, Locke, Cutter, Sgt. Johnson, Marty O'Donnell - it is good to have the complement to that.
Sometimes, you should learn what to do by first seeing what not to do.
Del Rio is not my favorite, but I will play devil's advocate here.
Lets not forget that had Del Rio obtained the chip, Cortana couldn't have destroyed like literally everything. So you know....
My favorite captain, is not a proper ship commander but Palmer, namely when she crashes her pelican. Woman drivers amirite?

There's no telling how this game will go, who the enemies will be, etc. I want my classic weapons of course like the base UNSC set but for returning weapons I think I'd appreciate the Railgun making a return. It's strong, accurate, overall highly effective against most enemies except maybe the Flood. I'll take just a base Railgun. I actually hope they do away with the REQ variants of weapons.
I appreciated the idea of the req variants, but I also agree I think they should go away. That being said, no way 343 is just going to abandon that idea after the insane amount of money they made off of selling req packs and the fact that Warzone is dependent on those. I hope that they just keep it for Warzone and nothing else, they went more competitive with Halo 5 arena so hopefully that continues and they keep arena more vanilla.
Weapons I'd like to see:
- Boltshot (Halo 4)
- Plasma launcher
- Halo 5's magnum
I don't want the grenade launcher in Halo Infinite, it is awful and I hate it.

Not really my favorite, but definitely worth a mention is the UNSC Cradle.
If you've read the Fall of Reach series you know it as the flat repair station/ship that sacrificed itself and all the members win board from covenant attack by acting as a shield.
The ship itself isn't impressive, but what it did, and the whole naval battle that it was involved in really stuck out to me for some reason.
