Firstly sorry I have been inactive with the news the past few weeks I have been busy with the family the Christmas and all and I had some Internet problems too also the latest gaming news has been pretty slow over the holidays and nothing much has been reported, again sorry for the inactivity. So on with the news.

It has been said that Sony will be making second hand games not playable on the PS4 by filing a patent and will verify if a game has been used on another console. This may indicate that the PS4 may also not be backward compatible as well as restrictions to PS4 games. So no more preowned games? Will friends not even be able to loan each other games? Will microsoft be going down the same road for the next gen Xbox?

Sony has filed for a new patent which will restrict second hand game sales if it is granted since the tech attempts to verify if a game has been used before on another console or not.The patent reveals a lot of information about how they will suppress second hand game sales and while it’s a bit complicated we will attempt to explain it a bit for you.

First here’s why the patent was filed for via

“In such a scheme where the electronic content is bought and sold in the second-hand markets or the like, the sales proceeds resulting therefrom are not redistributed to the developers. Also, since the users who have purchased the second-hand items are somehow no longer potential buyers of the content, the developers would lose their profits otherwise gained in the first place,” the patent reads.

What it suggests is that, developers are losing revenue on second-hand game sales and it’s something that cannot be eliminated unless it is stopped at the core. The tech needs to be implemented in a way that prevents the game from loading before a check is completed. What check? Here’s an explanation.

Consider, for example, a case where used is a game package 200 distributed in the second-hand market. Then the ID of reproduction device for the game disk 210 differs from the legitimate use device ID stored in the use permission tag 220, so that the game disk can be reproduced in a mode which is predetermined for those bought and sold in the second-hand market.

Also, for example, a content key may be supplied to the reproduction device 130 and the encrypted game AP may be decrypted using the content key only if the reproduction device ID matches a legitimate use device ID. Hence, use of game APs bought and sold in the second-hand market can be eliminated.

The new Xbox will reportedly sport "massive power," with a four-core CPU more powerful than any gaming PC. This will result in an increase in general performance—graphics, A.I., everything—in the next generation of games. DirectX 11 will increase game performance even further. And the new console will play Blu-ray discs, too—except for the "slim" version, which will be download-only.

With the next-generation of Xbox comes the chance that gamers will start to see less and less titles than they currently are, but some people still see the next-generation as a chance for smaller developers to get their games out to the masses.

"Our fear was that next generation was going to be only big AAA games. It was only going to be a place for 'Call of Duty' and 'Halo.'

"But we've talked to [the console manufacturers], and told people what things would be hard for teams our size with regards to consoles," Schafer said.

Schafer went on to say if next-generation systems can open up something like what Steam currently offers, then it could something independent developers can work with.

"We'd still like to be active in that space, we care about consoles, but unless they open things up a lot more like what we have on Steam... if they opened things up more it would be a more friendly place from our perspective.

"We've talked to them about this stuff, and you know, they hear us.

"They're big companies and they can't make changes overnight, but I think they're taking all of that stuff into consideration. We'll have to see what happens," Schafer said.

Independent developers are crucial to the gaming industry as they can come up with some of the best and most original content.

Xbox 720 needs to find a way to accommodate independent developers because if not, they will simply stay on Steam.

It isn't like they have nowhere to go.

Microsoft needs to work to acquire that sector of the industry because most gamers will be a bit disappointed if consoles get reduced to receiving only 15 or 20 titles a year, as a result of smaller and indie developers staying with Steam.

Even with all of the features and upgrades the system is suppose to have, it will mean nothing if the only titles that hit the system are the same franchises that we see each year.

Personally, "Assassin's Creed" is great, but "Journey" was amazing, and those types of games refresh a gamer's mind for what a game should be.

With those experiences lost, things could get a bit boring.

Gaming has so much more to offer and with the exception of PC gaming, people should be able to access and play all of it on one system.

Wasn't that the original idea behind gaming consoles?

Developers providing one place where people can experience all types of games?

It has yet to be seen what Microsoft will do with Durango, but they must find a way to incorporate indie gaming, since it is such a significant portion of the industry.

Would you as a gamer be fine with just 15-20 AAA titles per year on your next-generation console, with no other option?

It's hard to imagine core gamers would have any interest in this happening.

Thought that Halo 4 or Gears of war 3 had the best graphics? Well think again as they might be getting kicked of their throne as Crysis 3 may be taking the lead.

In an interview with VideoGamer on Tuesday, Cevat Yerli talked a little bit about the graphics of the upcoming multiplatform title, “Crysis 3.” The CEO of Crytek boasts that no other Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 video game, not even “Halo” or “Gears of War,” look as good technically as the first-person shooter on consoles.

"No game will ever look technically better than Crysis 3 on these consoles, flat out. Most games are not even anywhere near Crysis 2 technically. I'm not talking about art style – art is subjective – but the pure fact of what we have been cramming in with Crysis 2 on Xbox [360] and PlayStation [3], I've yet to see a game do that still today.

Any day I will take a battle against Gears and Halo, whatever, the amount of data we put in and the detail level is far superior. With Crysis 3 we're pushing that to another level, but the PC is just two levels beyond."

While we've heard a range of speculation about the codenames of Sony and Microsoft's next-gen consoles, a new report is claiming to have outed them correctly for the first time, as well as revealing where their components are being manufactured.

Be sure to remember that none of the below has been confirmed by either Sony or Microsoft so, until it is, take it all with a large pinch of salt.

According to SemiAccurate, internal sources have revealed that Microsoft's next Xbox is is being developed as project "Kryptos". The report also asserts that, as we've heard previously, the AMD chip the console will run on is called Oban. Additionally, it seems that the manufacturing troubles with the chip that were threatening to derail the console's rumoured 2013 launch still haven't been cleared up, and Microsoft is running out of time to do so.

While we've now heard about the Oban chip from several different sources, this is the first time that the "Kryptos" codename has been thrown into the mix. We've previously heard the next-gen Xbox referred to as Durango; indeed, development photos and a supposed early version of the dev kit for Microsoft's next console that was sold on eBay went under that moniker. So which is the real codename? Sadly, for now at least, we have no idea.

Moving onto the console many are calling the PlayStation 4, it's apparently being referred to internally as project "Thebes". Once again, an AMD chip is meant to be at the centre of the console and this is planned to be produced at either Global Foundries or IBM. If true, this means the chip would enter production after Oban, meaning a projected release window for the PlayStation 4 would be sometime between spring and autumn 2013.

Again this conflicts with some of the information we've previously heard; numerous sources have referred to the PS4 as Orbis. This new report doesn't offer much more in the way of what's inside Sony's next console, but thankfully we have an extensive report from November that offers quite a few unconfirmed details.

Microsoft Game Studios Vancouver is taking on scores of new staff as it begins to work on a next generation games franchise.

The studio, which has been rebranded as Black Tusk, is expected to double its headcount to 110 development workers by the end of the year.

Black Tusk studio manager Mike Crump says the team is "working on Microsoft's next big entertainment franchise".

"We're not working on an existing franchise, we're looking to build the next Halo here, for example, which is really exciting," Crump told regional newspaper The Vancouver Sun.

"We are building something from the ground up," he added.

According to its official website, "Black Tusk Studios is dedicated to creating immersive, AAA games that push the limits of Microsoft's entertainment platforms."

In May, the online CV of an art director at the studio seemingly let slip that the team was working on "a core AAA shooter experience using Kinect".

Xbox World has used its penultimate issue to publish an 8-page feature containing "everything we know" about Microsoft's next-gen console plans.

Editor in chief Dan Dawkins told CVG: "Xbox World has been at the cutting edge of Durango coverage for over 12 months. Unless something really dramatic changes, everything we reveal in our penultimate issue will be revealed long before E3 in June."

According to the mag's final 'exposé', the next-gen Xbox - which it speculates is likely to be called simply "Xbox" - will introduce Kinect 2.0, use Blu-ray discs and feature directional audio, a TV output AND input, 'innovative controller' and - at a later stage of the console's life - AR glasses.

Current codename 'Durango' dev kits boast a CPU with "four hardware cores, each divided into four logical cores" and an impressive 8GB of RAM, XBW reports.

Xbox World has used the Microsoft leaks and industry sources to come up with a 3D mock-up of what it expects the next-gen Xbox to look like.

"We built ours with the same glossy face and patented VapourMG magnesium alloy Microsoft uses for its Surface tablet, and modelled the silver band after its new 'Wedge' touch keyboard and flexible Arc Touch mouse," it writes. "The future will be black, sharp and curved."

Call of Duty Black Ops 2 now uses the Multiplayer engine for Zombie Modes. It features new and extensive Stats-tracking, as well as improved Leaderboards for bragging rights. The new skill-based matchmaking system will allow players of the same skill levels to be teamed-up to fight Zombies in public game modes.
