Well apparently the fine folks at 343 were not looking to beak any hearts around Valentines Day, so they've decided that the Halo 2 servers can live on for a while longer.

According to David Ellis, a designer for 343, the Halo 2 (PC) servers will stay open till June, and they are exploring further support options for the title.

Notice the key point to all that, 'Exploring support options for Halo 2(PC)' could the servers carry on.

Well do your bit Halo 2 fans, log on and play online, show 343 that we want the servers to stay up for as long as possible.

Halo 2's Windows PC multiplayer support will extend through June and Halo 4 developer 343 Industries is investigating "further support options," according to a tweet from David Ellis, a designer at 343.

On the newest episode of Spartan Ops Commander Palmer is ordered by a Oni Admiral to kill Catherine Elizabeth Halsey. Captain Lasky gets offended that no one should kill a civillian. No one mentioned anything about Miranda Keys or Captain Keys, since Halsey was In a tight relationship with Captain Keys.

Dr Halsey goes into the forerunner structure, and goes face to face with the librarian or the Didacts wife. The librarian holds 2 keys ,both show every forerunner riches of where forerunner ships, guns, forerunners will be. The keys are called Janic Keys and they hold all forerunner richs.
Also if you havent read the halo books it talks about the supreme commander of all forerunners called the master builder. Also the librarian quotes saying that be prepared for whats coming to you. From the details they give you most likely have the flood again as a threat, but we already faced the flood will it be more dictator forerunners like the master builder?

Halo 5 Guesses- With all the details we got from spartan ops to terminals and books we can only say that in Halo 5 the chief will be looking for forerunner riches, and whatever the librarian warned us about it must be something big like the flood or precusors or more forerunners. We will eventuallly find out.

343 Industries and McFarlane Toys introduced the second series of "Halo 4" toys Sunday at the 2013 Toy Fair in New York. Master Chief makes an appearance in action figure form once again along with a couple of other Spartans, two Covenant characters and the arch-villain, the Didact.

The "Halo 4" Series 2 action figures were first revealed last August but we didn't officially know at the time that the Didact was the Master Chief's main nemesis in the Xbox 360 shooter.

The full lineup for the Series 2 action figures features Master Chief with a Railgun and MicroOps version of Cortana, Commander Thomas Laskey with a Magnum pistol, the Elite Ranger with the Beam Rifle, the Storm Jackal with the Covenant Carbine, the Spartan Scout with a Sticky Detonator, the Spartan C.I.O. with the DMR and now the Didact.

A specific release date for the "Halo 4" Series 2 lineup has not been announced but the toys will be released sometime this spring.

Halo 4 contains more secrets and easter eggs than previously imagined. Although players have had no difficulty in finding lore terminals scattered throughout the game, Halo 4's developers 343 Industries say that not everything has been found, and have provided a few hints on how players can uncover these secrets.

Unlike previous Halo games, which forced players to discover hidden skulls to unlock higher difficulty levels for the game, Halo 4 provides these skull modifications from the very start, essentially removing what could have served as an additional secret to unlock. However, 343 says that there's more secrets in the game than players think.

"The Halo 4 Campaign still contains many secrets left uncovered," wrote the game's lead campaign designer Jesse Snyder, "Did you find any secrets as you played through Campaign? Initially, fans found many things that they thought were Easter eggs.

"Discovering that, in fact, many were still hidden, we were relieved. Avid secret hunters claimed that some of our treasures would be found within days of launching the game. ‘Certainly, they’ll find them any day now,’ we thought. Time would prove both us the aforementioned secret hunters wrong.

The developer said that 343 Industries intends to release some hints to help players discover these easter eggs and secrets without telling players where they are outright. He hinted that players who discovered them before the hints went out would be rewarded for their tenacity.

"Additionally, we’ll be giving you more hints in future Bulletins. Knowing how well we’ve hidden our easter eggs, it only seems fair. Even though this may sound cliché, ‘If at first you don’t succeed, try, try, again.’ Never stop searching. Some secrets might be right in front of you.”

In the same blog post, 343 Industries released a few tips to help get players started.

Halo 4 is bringing us Team Snipers and Double Teams Next Week!

As detailed on Halo Waypoint , the playlist re-introduces Team Snipers, which pits four players against four in a race to land 60 kills lasting no longer than 12 minutes. The only permitted weapons are UNSC sniper rifles with unlimited ammo, and you'll have to do without such mind-atrophying luxuries as death cams, motion trackers, ordnance or grenades. These are the tools of lesser Spartans, my friends. They'll make you soft. You don't want to go soft, do you?

Players with shorter attention spans may prefer Shotty Snipers, which is much as above except with grenades and shotguns. According to 343's Jessica Shea, "we'll be launching the playlist with several medium-sized maps - slightly modified versions of Haven, Abandon and some Forge favorites will be available.

"Also, we're in the process of building additional new Snipers game types that we'll introduce in upcoming weeks. For those of you wondering about the duration of the Team Snipers playlist fear not - we plan on keeping it around for a while."

Also due for drop on Monday is Team Objective, which groups together 4 vs 4 Team Regicide, Oddball and King of the Hill. "The biggest changes you'll see to these game types are that Complex Oddball has been removed," notes Shea, "and instant respawn has been disabled for both KoTH and Oddball."

The developer will also tweak this week's Team Doubles playlist in response to complaints about abuse of Ordnance Drops - come Monday, you won't be able to call in Rocket Launchers, Incineration Cannons, sniper rifles or Overshields while rocking the playlists, though these weapons and tools can still be found on certain maps.

Also, 343 aims to remove instant respawn from Infinity Doubles, and will address certain spawn issues on Haven, together with a troublesome Sticky Detonator on Dispatch - the latter now spawns with a 180 second resupply timer and two spare clips.

Last but not least, Halo 4's "premiere" competitive playlist Team Throwdown will launch on 18th February.

The CGI trailer for "Episode 9: The Key" for Halo 4 Spartan Ops is now available for viewing. Episode 9 will be launching for free this Monday on Xbox Live.

In Episode 9, the UNSC Navy's intelligence division ONI has ordered the assassination of rogue scientist Doctor Halsey. Spartan Sarah Palmer is assigned to carry out the mission. Lasky, however, thinks this is a mistake and sends Fireteam Majestic to stop her.

"The Key" is the second-to-last episode for this season of Spartan Ops. Expect it to introduce new storylines as much as it wraps up existing ones. The episode description from 343 Industries says that Fireteam Majestic will find "the key to the future of the Halo universe" on their mission.

Episode 9 includes five new missions and a new CGI cinematic. You'll be able to download it starting on February 11th at 3 AM PST.

Also, the Bible is something we’re constantly adding to as we flesh out different corners of the universe, so a bit of both, I guess.

What kind of music do you think Master Chief would listen to whilst slaying enemies?

Dirty little secret: it’s all just elevator music there in the helmet. “Girl From Ipanema”, the Carpenters… Soft Hits of the ‘70’s…

As more and more games focus on multiplayer, how did 343i come up with the idea of fusing together story and multiplayer into what we know as Spartan Ops? How has Spartan Ops been received so far? Can you tell us if you guys are working on any more?

From pretty much the day I got to 343, there was a desire to incorporate storytelling into different kinds of MP experiences. To us, there’s a real benefit in erasing the separations between the various game modes, and to make it feel like one, harmonious universe. Spartan Ops has been amazingly successful in that regard, in that we’ve been able to create a narrative which connects directly to the events of the campaign while engaging players who might normally gravitate to more communal types of gameplay. We’re a couple weeks into the second half of our season now, and the response to the new episodes has been fantastic, so we’re all pretty happy with how well it’s being received.

Many say that Halo 4 is the best campaign in the Halo series to date. Do you feel like the 343 team did a good job bringing your story to life? What are you most happy about with the final product?

The success of Halo 4’s campaign really comes down to the fact that, despite being a young studio who was just figuring out how to work together, we quickly developed a camaraderie and sense of collaboration that was essential to telling the story we told. There were constant interactions and negotiations – whether it was moving an encounter slightly so we could roll out a plot point better or postponing a story beat to allow for a better art reveal. That collective sense of responsibility for delivering a world-class story is what made it possible to achieve as much as we did.

As for the final product, the John and Cortana relationship is the piece which always spoke to me on a very personal level. Having the opportunity to show a bit more of the depth around their connection was incredibly rewarding.

Do you feel like the public reacted to the story of the campaign the way you thought they would?

I don’t know that I had any preconceived notions about how people would react to the story, though it has been very gratifying to see people having a real, emotional response to things like Cortana’s rampancy and the Chief’s slow journey towards reclaiming his humanity.

We came to know Master Chief much more than before in Halo 4; was it difficult for you to accurately capture the Chief's persona as it was in previous games?

I always felt that John was a fascinating character who never quite got his due. Much has been made in the past about the ‘silent protagonist’ aspect of Halo, but if you go back and play through the original trilogy, his character is very well defined despite not having much in the way of actual dialog (and admittedly, a lot of that comes from Steve Downes’ iconic voice). Chief’s first exchange with Cortana in Halo:CE is this sarcastic, dry remark about her driving, which indicates there is a man inside that suit, not simply some automaton. So the question for me then became: what created that stoic, silent persona, and how do you get underneath that person’s skin? What do you do to bring him out of that literal shell he’s put himself in?

Halo 4 felt like a much more personal story than previous games. Do you plan on continuing that path towards more personal story elements?

Absolutely. Plot will only take you so far, especially when you’ve threatened to blow up the galaxy on numerous occasions – really, it becomes harder and harder to come up with a satisfying encore to that. In order for there to be real stakes beyond just ‘save the world’, you need to have characters who have something they want to protect, and the more fleshed out your characters, the more personal you can make your stories and the more impactful those stories can be.

What's it like taking on such a cohesive franchise, with the expectations of a willing and pedantically enthusiastic community watching your every move?

Being someone who silently trolls the boards reading detailed accounts of all things good, bad and ugly we’ve been doing at 343, I’m obviously incredibly aware of the enormous responsibility to do right by the people who love Halo with such incredible passion. And you’d be surprised just how much 343 is a microcosm of the community; most of us work there because we LOVE Halo too, and so every decision you make is passed through that filter at some level. That said, there’s no way to give every single person the Halo they have in their heads – so the best you can do is to approach the mantle of responsibility for the franchise with what you believe is true to the spirit of Halo, and hope you never wander too far off the path.

What are some of your favorite literary works? Have any of these directly inspired you in regards to the work you've done and plan to do on the Halo franchise?

My favorite works tend to be split between really internal, personal stories about the human condition (things like ‘Great Gatsby’ or ‘Wuthering Heights’) or these grand, world-building tales that create totally new realities (‘Snow Crash’, the ‘Dark Tower’ series). When it comes to looking for inspiration for Halo specifically, though, I try to eschew things which are a little too close to home like other sci-fi works. It’s a little too easy for people to start drinking from the same well, so it’s important to try and find new sources of inspiration to bring a fresh perspective to whatever you’re working on.

What other influences have affected or inspired the Halo 4 storyline? Was the infamous Ringworld series a personal influence?

There were a lot of random influences which we pulled from throughout the course of Halo 4, though I think you’d be hard pressed to see a lot of them now (King Arthur, Peter Pan, Apocalypse Now, etc). In most cases, we’d find things which gave us just enough of a jumping off point to create something new. But in general, we tend to try and steer clear of works that could draw obvious points of comparison like Ringworld, etc.

Given the reveal of the Prometheans and the idea that the Forerunners were trying to ensure ultimate biological immortality through transhumanism: Is Cortana's fate settled or is her ultimate arc one of becoming human in the literal sense as John learns to embrace his own humanity without her. (I have no idea what this means... *rolls eyes* writers...)

The idea of what it means to be ‘human’ was hugely important in Halo 4, and given where we leave John, I think it’s safe to say it’s an ongoing theme for the franchise. But in terms of specifics? Hold on, getting the Microsoft lawyers on the phone….

It looks like Halo 4 stood highly of other games last night at the Australia Ign Awards

Halo 4 won top honours at one of Australia's biggest gaming awards night.

IGN awarded the first-person shooter Game Of The Year at the IGN Black Beta Select Awards in Darling Harbour, where more than 700 gamers, game developers, journalists and the industry's elite had gathered.

It also won gold for the Best Console Game and Best Visual Design.

The new title, Dishonored, won the best original game category due to the "true" choices users can make. Players can go through the entire game without killing a single person, or they can enjoy a good bloody battle. It's also one of the few popular games of 2012 that wasn't a sequel.

Mass-Effect: Infiltrator won the Best Aussie-made Game. The third-person shooter was the brain child of Firemonkeys, the new super-studio that formed after Melbourne video game developers at Firemint merged with Iron Monkey last year. Not a bad achievement for a newly developed company.

Far Cry 3 took out the top spot for Best PC Game and Pokemon Black 2 / White 2 won for Best Handheld Game.

The awards were decided by voters, with more than 88,000 votes cast by the IGN Community across Australia. The only award not decided by readers was the Editor's Choice Award which went to Sound Shapes, an innovative game for the PlayStation 3 which lets users create sounds using different music instruments controlled via a touch screen and back touch pad.

Cam Shea, senior editor of IGN Australia told news.com.au that he was thrilled with the outcome.

Mass Effect: Infiltrator won for Best Aussie-Made Game. Picture: IronMonkey Studios

"At first I was surprised that Tetris didn't walk away with more honours," he said. "I mean, it is the hottest thing on the GameBoy right now. Then I realised I was having yet another flashback to 1989,” he said.

"After taking off my parachute pants and getting my head around this thing called 'the internet', I've got to say our audience really has chosen an incredibly deserving selection of titles.”

Mr Shea called Dishonored “a breath of fresh air grounded in player choice with a painterly visual aesthetic”

.

“The Walking Dead: The Game also hit hard with a heart-wrenching tale of a desperate survivor trying to protect an innocent little girl,” he said.

"Far Cry 3 gave players an epic map to explore and hunt across, and introduced the gaming world to shark punching. It goes on.”

However, Mr Shea said that Halo 4 was by far the biggest winner, taking out three categories including Overall Best Game of 2012.

"(It was) no surprise, really - it was a superb reboot for the franchise, injecting much-needed character alongside superb shooter game play and gorgeous graphics," he said.

"Congrats to all the winners and thanks to all IGN's readers who voted and helped maked the Black Beta Select Awards such a success."

The Price Is dropping from 60$ to 20$ at best buy for the game halo 4

We learned through a Best Buy representative on Thursday that "Halo 4" for the Xbox 360 will go on sale Sunday, Feb. 3 for a stunningly low price.

"Halo 4" will have its price dropped from $59.99 all the way down to just $19.99 from Sunday through Saturday at Best Buy according to the information we received. It was listed at that more at a third of its regular price along with "Borderlands" and "Grand Theft Auto IV".

We were initially skeptical and asked the representative to confirm that this will indeed be the price. "It is! This is what Best Buy gave us," was the response. This same representative clued us in on deals in previous weeks that even the popular deal sites did not know about.

"Halo 4" was released on Nov. 6, 2012 but did not see any of the ultra-low Black Friday prices from competing products such as "Borderlands 2". It's hard to figure out if the drastic slashing is due to slowing sales of the Xbox franchise title or just a rare boost during the typically slow month of February. Either way, this is a boon for those looking to get their "Halo" in on the cheap.

The next update will be receiving multiple updates in one update.

Brace yourself, updates are coming! In the Halo Bulletin posted last nightWednesday, Jan. 30th, 2013, Andy "Bravo" Dudynsky, part of 343 Industries Matchmaking Team, went into more details about the Team Doubles playlist being added this coming Monday along with some other playlists that he is excited to talk about.

Starting Monday, Feb. 4th, 2013 Team Doubles will be part of the regular matchmaking playlist options and they will feature three game types to choose from in the initial weeks which are Infinity Doubles, Doubles Pro, and CTF Doubles.

Infinity Doubles offers the Infinity Slayer experience in 2 vs 2 form. In this variant, players have the option to choose their custom loadout, and instant respawn and radar are enabled. Personal ordnance will kick in at the traditional 70 point mark, but the options are tweaked specifically for Team Doubles. Games are played up to 300 points.

Doubles Pro offers an experience that features preset game loadouts. The score limit is the same as above, but radar, personal ordnance and instant respawn are disabled.

CTF Doubles offers the ever-popular Capture the Flag game type, customized for 2 vs 2 play. Custom loadouts and radar are enabled, and respawn time is set to 10 seconds. Flag settings provide an optimal experience for small maps and teams: 5 flags to win, 3 second return, and 15 second reset. Lastly, your flag does not have to be home to score.

For map selection, Bravo said that they will be using slightly modified Haven, Abandon, Solace, and "several" community forge maps. He goes on to say that they "will continue to update the map pool on a regular basis to keep everything fresh." More details will be posted on the matchmaking forums before the playlist goes live.

Speaking of CTF [Capture The Flag], 343i will also be updating the CTF playlist to include two new maps to the gametype Relay and Exile. They will also be tweaking some of the settings on already existing maps such as, "the flag reset time on Adrift, Abandon, Solace and Relay will be dropped to 15 seconds to account for the smaller map size. " Last but not least a new option will be available when choosing the CTF playlist which is Infinity CTF and it is the same as regular CTF but with ordinances to add a touch of surprise to the gametype.

One more update that Bravo snuck into the bulletin this week was a name for the recently announced competitive playlist that will be coming out in the near future, and it's going to be called Team Throwdown. The playlist will feature multiple game types all tailored around the competitive gametypes ( aka MLG Customs) like Slayer, CTF, Extraction, and King of the Hill. Some details about this play list were posted on the forums:

4 vs 4

Pre-set game loadouts

Forced respawn timers

No instant respawn

Ordnance on re-supply timers

Join-in-progress off

No split-screen play

Friendly fire on

Max party size 4 with big party matching enforced

No guests allowed

Bravo mentioned that this playlist would be released before the CSR [Competitive Skill Rank] does to ensure the playlist works smoothly for players. No time frame yet on how soon that will be.

343 Industries released a new trailer and screenshots Wednesday for "Halo 4" Spartan Ops Episode 8. While also introducing new environments, the episode will also bring back a missing Spartan IV and drop a plot twist involving Dr. Halsey.

Here's the official description for Spartan Ops Episode 8 from 343 Industries.

"Fireteam Majestic are reunited, but the Infinity is still under attack by Promethean forces. Unfortunately for Lasky, he won’t know what the Prometheans are after until it’s too late."

If you've already played through Episode 7, you probably know where the Spartan Ops plot is headed. The trailer and screenshots for Episode 8 are a dead giveaway as well so avoid those if you don't want to see spoilers.

You can check out the trailer for Spartan Ops Episode 8 in below this post. The episode will be released the morning of Monday, Feb. 4 along with multiplayer playlist updates and the last two Specializations.

The first season of Spartan Ops will end with the release of Episode 10. 343 Industries has hinted that additional seasons may come prior to the release of "Halo 5".

In the latest Halo Waypoint Bulletin, Kevin Franklin released the following information about matchmaking

War Games Community Update

Every week we share information about upcoming Matchmaking playlist updates (see above), but Kevin Franklin also wanted to touch on some other things expected to arrive over the next few months. So those of you that have been asking about CSR, Extraction and other War Games-related topics should immediately begin digging into the information below. There are morsels to be unearthed, and that’s all I’m going to say about that.

Hey everyone, Kevin Franklin here.

The 343 War Games team has been hard at work on new playlist content, DLC maps, and other such goodies. We are incredibly excited for our upcoming DLC announcement, but until then we have some other updates to share with you.

CSR – Competitive Skill Rank

We have been working closely with several internal teams on optimizing the ranking system, and working to integrate it into your Waypoint player profile, accessible on web, phone and tablet.

More Details:

• You will have a unique CSR visible per playlist.

• Your highest CSR across all playlists will be promoted in the player profile on Halo Waypoint.

• CSR uses familiar 1-50 scale.

• When CSR launches, everyone will start with a fresh rating.

Our targeted launch date for CSR is April 2013, and we will be re-configuring some of our most competitive playlists to accommodate the launch of the feature.

Playlist Rotations Going Forward

We have been reading your feedback on rotational playlists, and we would like to clarify our approach going forward.

• Several of the modes currently on ‘hiatus’ are getting updates and fixes based on community feedback.

• We are planning to build several multi-mode playlists that include rotated modes, and new modes we have not launched yet. It is important that we build strong playlist compositions in time for the CSR launch.

• We hope to keep Grifball and Doubles in as regular playlists.

Future Playlists and Modes

Alongside bug fixes, feature improvements, and new maps, here are some modes and playlists we are working on:

• Grifball Playlist: Slated to include multiple versions of Grifball and new courts.

• Extraction Playlist: Adding overtime, fixing a score bug, improving the capture experience, and tuning maps.

• Infinity CTF: More details next week.

And that brings this week’s Halo Bulletin to a close. I hope you found answers to a few of your most asked questions, and we’ll be back next week to do it all again. Until then…

This sounds great and all, but APRIL? ARE YOU SERIOUS? Thats another 2 months of Halo 4 collecting dust.

Sundance DiGiovanni has revealed on Jan. 19 through Twitter that Major League Gaming won’t be featuring “Halo 4.” The Co-Founder and CEO of MLG offered a brief explanation as to why this was the case and then went on to thank the “Halo” community. You can check out some screens from the first-person shooting video game in picture on the top of this article and the comments from Sundance DiGiovanni below (courtesy of MLGSundance Twitter):

MLG signed its side of the console shooter deal for 2013. The game in the deal was not Halo. Once deal is countersigned we will announce. I have loved almost every minute of our time with Halo and wish the competitive Halo community the best. It was a good run. Thank you to all the people who contributed to the many amazing "I was there" MLG Halo moments. I mean it from the bottom of my heart.

“Halo 4” is the latest entry into the popular video game series. The fourth main title marked a significant change as it was produce by a new development studio in 343 Industries, who has previously responsible for the high-definition remastered port of “Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary.” The first-person shooter also signaled the beginning of the “Reclaimer Trilogy” storyline.
