Long-Running, Best-Selling Figure Line Continues in 2012 with All-New Figures from the Latest Halo Video Game

This fall, Microsoft Studios and 343 Industries are releasing Halo 4, the highly anticipated video game expected to be one of the top entertainment launches of 2012. McFarlane Toys is proud to announce that its best-selling line of Halo action figures continues this fall as well, with figures from Halo 4.

Halo 4 brings back the most popular character of the Halo universe, the Master Chief, and kicks off an all-new trilogy of games. Dubbed the "Reclaimer Trilogy" by 343 Industries, these new games explore the characters of the Master Chief and Cortana, expand the Halo fiction in bold new ways and bring even more of the innovation that the Halo series is known for to the gaming world. McFarlane Toys Halo 4 action figures bring the all-new characters, weapons and vehicles of Halo 4 to video-game fans and action-figure collectors worldwide.

"Each new Halo game is a significant entertainment event," says Todd McFarlane, CEO and founder of McFarlane Toys. "Halo 4 marks the return of the Master Chief and Cortana, plus the introduction of new characters, weapons and locations sure to excite long-time fans."

Action figure collectors can expect the same quality and attention to detail in the Halo 4 line that they've come to expect from McFarlane toys. "We're really excited to be working with the all-star team of 343 Industries," Todd notes. "Microsoft has assembled an incredible group of developers to ensure Halo's continued place among the top entertainment franchises. 343 Industries is pushing the envelope with the visuals, storytelling and gameplay, and we can't wait until fans get their hands on Halo 4."

The Halo 4 figure series continues in the 6-inch size introduced with their Halo: Reach figures. They're also introducing a series of larger, boxed figures. These deluxe items are in scale with their 6-inch figures, but include larger accessories, such as Master Chief's Cryotube.

McFarlane Toys is part of a select group of licensees with Halo 4 products available at game launch. Halo 4 Series 1 kicks off this August with four carded figures and one boxed figure set, and expands to include even more figures later in the fall.

Todd promises, "343 still has some surprises to reveal, so we can't give you all the details just yet. But we've seen what they're working on, and Halo 4 will be worth the wait!"

HALO UNIVERSE

In addition to its all-new Halo 4 action figure line, McFarlane Toys is continuing its popular Halo: Anniversary series in fall 2012. Since the franchise's tenth anniversary has now passed, the line is being rebranded as "Halo Universe."

Halo Universe continues to bring fans the classic, fan-favorite characters from the earlier Halo games, and even includes "expanded universe" sources such as novels, comic books and the animated feature, Halo Legends. This series also continues the popular "build-a-figure" feature of our Halo: Anniversary lines, bringing collectors an extra bonus item such as the Difficulty Plaque or UNSC Logo.

Todd explains, "Halo 4 brings fans figures from the latest and greatest Halo video game. But Halo is a franchise with over a decade of incredible games, movies, books and comics. With our Halo Universe line, we can continue to offer long-time fans the classic characters they know and love."

• Living Dead updated.

Zombies need games to go along with their brains, which is why 343 updated this playlist to include the following new spooky map variants: Bedlam, Uncongealed, Pandemic, Count d’Houen, Deadwalk, Powerless, Spooky Base, and Parasitic. 343 also don’t want you to be “All Alone,” so they've turned up the weighting on Condemned.

• Team Arena, Big Team Battle and Double Team updated to TU settings.

TU game types are our standard Reach Matchmaking settings with the Title Update changes. Those changes are: damage bleed enabled, modified reticle bloom, sword block removed, Armor Lock modified, and Active Camo modified.

• Squad DLC added. All DLC included/required.

Yes, 343 read our forums. No, they don’t always respond with words, because sometimes they respond with action instead. Like this time.

When Premium Battle was removed, threads about its disappearance slowly began cropping up. 343 adjusted the Matchmaking algorithm to match players who have DLC with other players who have DLC more often, but 343 noticed many players saying they still weren’t getting enough DLC to satisfy their map-related cravings. So they are bringing a premium list back in the form of 6v6 DLC Slayer. This list is being introduced on a probationary status due to the low population previously experienced in Premium Battle. 343 will be keeping a very close eye on its numbers, so if you want it to stick around, you’d best play it. Consider this your first warning.

• Abridged updated to latest version.

The creators, theforceswithin and schmittler 5000, made numerous changes to this map. Here are a few they deemed significant enough to mention:

1. Multi-flag has been improved. The flags now spawn in the front of the base a few feet from the GL (previous PL spawn).

2. A teleporter has been added inside the base that leads up to the two-story (Concussion) towers. This significantly improves movement.

3. The gravity lift to the Falcon has been moved into the base to stop vehicles from getting stuck in a permanent floating state.

4. Kill zones have been overhauled. It is now possible to fly underneath the bridge, and there are no HLG spots that we have found to be a problem.

They also removed the shotguns.

• 2v2 variants of Solitary and Battle Canyon added to Double Team.

343 adjusted the Matchmaking algorithm to match players who…. never mind. Enjoy the varied terrain.

• Grifball early win behavior fixed.

Goosechecka requested that all games go to 343 rounds. 343 politely declined, and instead fixed the early win behavior on previously affected game types.

• Zealot, Countdown, and Penance added to Team Snipers.

The long barrel was in need of some attention, so 343 diversified the Team Snipers playlist with some smaller maps. 343 recommend forgoing the scope and going straight for the wild flailing. It’s a legitimate strategy.

Just found out there is a secret terminal called the 'Threshold' terminal (Which i believe is the name of the Gas-Giant seen from Halo)

To unlock it you must

-Unlock all terminals in the campaign

-Write down the symbols which appear at the end of each one (Pictures of the symbols below)

-Start up Halo Waypoint

-Press button

-Press the buttons on your controller that correspond to coloured circles that appear on your screen

-Enter the 5 symbols from then end of a terminal

Do this for every terminal and you'll receive

-7,000cr per terminal (37,000 for the last one)

-The terminal to watch in Halo Waypoint

Okay there has been much discussion regarding the map pack with Halo CEA that is playable in Halo Reach here are the facts to clear up any questions.

The Anniversary Map Pack, which includes six multiplayer maps along with one Firefight map, will be available on November 15th for 1200 Microsoft Points. This means even Halo: Reach fans can take part in Anniversary!

I thought I would walk you through some of the different scenarios you may find yourself in on November 15th. Halo: Anniversary and the Anniversary Map Pack are two different pieces of content, so here are the various ways to access the maps.

• If you own Halo: Anniversary but not Halo: Reach, you will launch the Anniversary maps from the disc menu.

• If you own Halo: Anniversary and Halo: Reach, we recommend installing the maps using the Anniversary Map Pack code that comes with Anniversary. You will then be able to launch the Anniversary maps from both the Anniversary and Reach menus.

• If you purchase the Anniversary Map Pack, you will install the maps like any other piece of DLC. You will then be able to launch the Anniversary maps from the Reach menu.

Now that the relevant playlists have been covered, we should probably touch on the multiplayer maps as well. The Anniversary Map Pack, which includes six multiplayer maps along with one Firefight map, will be available on November 15th for 1200 Microsoft Points. This means even Halo: Reach fans can take part in Anniversary!

Before we dip into each of the maps, I thought I would walk you through some of the different scenarios you may find yourself in on November 15th.

Now, back to business. In previous Bulletins, we took deep dives into the majority of the maps, but in an effort to save you the time of digging deep within our archives, I’m going to summarize all seven of the included playspaces. I think I’ll even throw in an overhead shot of each map. Because yes, despite what you may have heard, I really am that nice. Well, every once in a while, anyway.

BATTLE CANYON (2 - 8 players)

“The telemetry spires in these canyons help manage the Halo ring’s vast translocation grid.”

The rocky warrens of this part of Halo provide the ideal environment for an array of impressive telemetry clusters. These spires’ synchronization conduits ensure that the ring’s translocation grid is always fully operational, part of a remarkably powerful system which allows near-instant transportation across the full ten thousand kilometers that span the installation.

BREAKNECK (8 - 16 players)

The initial Covenant strike is over, but the fight for Mombasa has just begun.”

Section 21 once looked out onto the New Mombasa Orbital Elevator with pride and optimism. Now, with much of the city flooded by the Covenant’s brutal assault, the skyline is only a shattered ghost of what it once was as the battle for humanity’s survival continues on the streets and corridors below.

HIGH NOON (4 - 12 players)

“Despite millennia of abandonment, transportation facilities like this one continue to function flawlessly.”

The vast generator complexes which power this enormous slipspace portal allow it to connect with an unknown number of locations across the galaxy. However, passage through this system requires a Forerunner keyship, and few command such a vessel this long after the disappearance of the portal’s creators.

PENANCE (2 - 8 players)

“The Covenant have harnessed the waters of this moon to refuel their massive supercarriers.”

As the primary satellite of the Unggoy homeworld, Buwan provides the perfect environment for this massive Covenant hydro-facility used to power and refuel a variety of capital ships. Though still operational via automated subsystems, the station was abandoned shortly after the breaking of the Covenant.

RIDGELINE (8 - 16 players)

Overlooking one of Halo’s impressive relay complexes, this idyllic cliffside once served as a UNSC staging area.”

Once serving as a watchpoint for the immense relay complex below, the monitoring outposts nestled atop this ridge became a staging ground for human forces during their time on Installation 04. Toward the end of the conflict, a Covenant assault brought the resistance of the marines here to a tragic end.

SOLITARY (2 - 8 players)

The security spire’s damaged interior only hints at the terrifying power of its previous inhabitant.”

These spinning confinement platforms are a testament to the technological prowess of the Forerunners. In the event of a security breach, the facility’s suborbital location and frigid temperature were thought to be able to keep any threat at bay, but it appears those plans were… optimistic.

INSTALLATION 04 (1 - 4 players)

Fight for survival around mysterious Forerunner structures on Installation 04.”

When the UNSC Pillar of Autumn arrived at Alpha Halo—also known as Installation 04—the Covenant was already there to welcome them. The conflict that followed raged across the surface of the ringworld, eventually pitting the renowned and battle-hardened ODSTs against a merciless Covenant assault, which would stop at nothing to control Halo.

Halo: Anniversary Matchmaking Playlists

While you’re probably familiar with the Campaign portion of Anniversary, I thought you might want to know about the multiplayer aspect as well. The game comes bundled with seven of the most popular maps in Halo history, and we’ll have five different playlists featuring them, all offering a more classic Halo experience.

The Anniversary playlists will be going live the morning of the 14th. Well, the morning of the 14th if you call the Pacific Time Zone region home. Why are we releasing them a day early, you ask? Because we want to make sure the playlists are available to all players immediately upon purchase of the game, regardless of what part of the world they live in. That means, depending on your time zone, you may see the playlists before you can actually utilize them. Fret not, though, because once you have secured your copy of the game, you can traverse the virtual battlefields with your friends—stealing flags, sniping faces, and accidentally betraying your teammates with the rockets, just like you did in CE.

If you log into Halo Waypoint via the Xbox 360 Dashboard, you'll find that there's a few new achievements being listed for Halo: Reach's Defiant Map Pack, which will take the current maximum Gamerscore in Reach up to 1450. The achievements listed are as follows:

Don't Touch That! 25G - Defiant: Prevent the attacking team from touching the flag in a matchmaking 1-Flag CTF game

Paper Beats Rock 15G - Defiant: Assassinate a player that just exited Armor Lock in a matchmade game

All Alone 10G - Defiant: Be the last surviving uninfected player in a matchmade infection game

This takes the current achievement count for the Defiant Map Pack up to six and boosts the total to 200 Gamerscore with its additional 50 points. These achievements aren't currently in-game, which means they're probably an extra bonus planned for the release of Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary on November 15th

Halo: Anniversary Launch Party

While 343 may have celebrated Halloween without you, they certainly wouldn’t do the same with the launch of Halo: Anniversary. That’s why 343 like to officially invite you to join them and other Halo fans at Microsoft stores nationwide on November 14th. Come at 10 p.m., show off your mad skills in some classic Red vs. Blue multiplayer matches on the maps that started it all, and then get your copy of Halo: Anniversary at midnight. (Semi-relevant, I heard the first 100 people to purchase the game in person at each location will get a little something in the form of a Grunt plushie. Just FYI.)

In an attempt to spread the love, 343 will have special guests at a few of the locations. Frank O'Connor will be at the Los Angeles store, a few people from Rooster Teeth will be at the Houston store, and some Certain Affinity folks will be at both the Houston and Seattle locations. Here are all the participating Microsoft stores, should you find yourself within traveling vicinity of any of these fabulous cities:

Scottsdale, AZ - Scottsdale Fashion Square

Costa Mesa, CA - South Coast Plaza

Los Angeles, CA - Westfield Century City

Mission Viejo, CA - The Shops at Mission Viejo

San Diego, CA - Fashion Valley Mall

Santa Clara, CA - Westfield Valley Fair

Lone Tree, CO - Park Meadows Mall

Atlanta, GA - Lenox Square Mall

Oak Brook, IL - Oakbrook Center

Bloomington, MN - Mall of America

Houston, TX - Houston Galleria

Bellevue, WA - Bellvue Square Mall

Seattle, WA - University Village

And so, with a new map pack, comes new multiplayer achievements.

In fact, there's seven new multiplayer map pack achievements. Check them out below:

You'll be able to get hold of the Anniversary map pack as DLC for Halo: Reach, when Halo: CE Anniversary launches on November 15th, 2011 or you can simply get them with Anniversary itself. Either way, more Halo multiplayer achievements can only be seen as a good thing, right?

Frank O'Connor, let slip some more information of new multiplayer additions for both Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary and Halo: Reach, which is great news for Reach fans, as the Halo 1 remake's launch will see the introduction of several new multiplayer goodies.

"We're actually adding the M60 pistol to the multiplayer suite with a title update for Halo: Reach. Most of the functionality won't be available in Reach until Halo: CE Anniversary launches in November," said Frank.

"We're making some subtle and some significant changes to the Halo: Reach gameplay, and we just want to make sure that there's a good balance of that when the game launches."

Frank noted that these changes will result in a new multiplayer playlist for Halo: Reach, enabling players to play a more classic Halo game experience, presumably without extras like armour abilities and so on. Pure, old-school Halo in essence.

"The original plan was to make it so we could have a more classic experience in Anniversary and to do that, we had to make pretty significant changes to the gameplay in Reach," Frank stated.

"You'll still be able to play the exact same identical Reach gameplay alongside it via matchmaking, but we'll make a classic matchmaking playlist to go with it."

So, everyone's a winner then. Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary is November 15th.
