I Love Me Some Classics!

Hello everyone, I (Edward Kenway) am doing a simple community event on Halo Reach. It's your basic classic event, we'll be playing an array of game-modes like Invasion and Slayer and having some fun, nothing too out of the ordinary! However, I will have to run by some rules for the event.

1. If you slander, berate, or act immature toward another member during the event, you will be booted. No exceptions and no second chances.

2. I don't mind having a hardy time, but try to keep topics out of the sexual, political, or religious areas as generally those conversations get out of hand and if you start one and someone acts out on your behalf you will also be booted.

3. I'd prefer a microphone on everyone so the party isn't barren.

4. HAVE FUN AND DESTROY THE OTHER TEAM!

The event begins August 23rd at 3:00PM EST, be sure to get on the shoutbox first so I can give anyone attending the go-ahead to get online and get your gamertags to invite you. Player list is below, if we fill up I'll see if I can get a second lobby, JOIN FAST.

Hello everyone, as you know I'm Edward Kenway, the fictitious pirate who probably only exists in your imagination (and the hearts and minds of children everywhere). I'm bringing you yet another event, not as soon though on a game that we never really got far off the ground on when it came to hosting playdates. Some of you may not know, but we have a crew for GTA V on the forum, here, we hosted a few playdates then did nothing ever again... I'm serious. Well, it's been almost 1 year since the game's launch, and I figure let's host a playdate on the anniversary! Which is the 17th... A wednesday... So it's on the 6th, a Saturday. You may be asking why not the 13th, the saturday during the week of the anniversary. Anything after the ninth (Destiny FTW) is impossible, because Destiny FTW.

You'll need Gold (obviously), and to be in the crew, but I'll take your word for it. We're gonna go in, do some random activities, robberies, and burn down the place. It'll be fun, I promise. The entry fee is $10, however you have no way of giving me the $10 up front, so I'll take your word for it that you will pass it to me some other way. It'll take place at 2:00PM EST, see ya then lads.

So some basic information about the game:

• It is PC only, and I would be buying Steam Keys. If you want to join and buy a copy yourself, that's appreciated.
• It is a Grand Strategy Game, which is played in Real Time, but can be slowed, paused, and saved. The game takes a while to come to a natural conclusion over the course of many hours. This would not be a single night of gameplay, but multiple.
• It takes place from 1936 onward, and is a WWII simulator, but History can be shaped by you
• Only the host has to own all the DLC in order for all players to use DLC Content. I own all of the DLC, and can turn it off as well

WHEN!?: This Monday (5/14/18) at lets make it 1pm CDT BUT since I dont know my time zones all that well, let me know if we should change it because I want to make sure it works out for everyone. So the aforementioned time is subject to change.

WHAT!?: Ive been in the mood for some Halo 3 lately. Now, I do have a few good gametypes & maps (Jenga, Duck Hunt, and I think Fat Kid) but I really cant say if they're the originals/the fun/the better variants. I dont need to stay party leader the entire time and I would be more than happy to hand it off to whoever wants it next. Im sure if we started digging we would find some classics. 

OKAAY!?: Alright so depending on how many people sign up for it, I hope it happens. Cant say too many people are active anymore and the few that still are may not even own Halo 3 or and Xbox anymore. Either way im shooting for maybe five people, but more than that would be greatly appreciated! Even if you cant participate maybe float this around the forums, the more people see this the better!  

But, like I said before, just leave a reply if you want to sign up. Also let me know if we need to change the time to maybe something a little earlier or later in the day. No special medals for this one lads, but still I hope everyone has a good time!

HTA's Summer of No-Outside-Contact Events consists of us reaching out to users and getting them involved in their favorite games or games they just enjoy to play. Greetings forum members, and welcome to the multiverse of Dungeons & Dragons. We are currently looking for people who would be interested in playing D&D, no experience needed. All you need is a few hours to sit down and play every session. Ideally we would like to run a session about once a week, so we will try to plan the sessions out a few weeks in advance. Can't commit to showing up once a week? Not a problem! If we have enough interest by members, we can create a "revolving" character, which would allow  multiple members to cycle in and out each session, each playing the same character. If you are interested at all, please let us know below!

Simple Q and A:

Q. I can't commit to playing very often, but may be available to play every few weeks, what can I do? 

A. Just let us know below. If you want, you can play as a "revolving" character, meaning that each during each session, the character is controlled by a different person based on player availability. Even if you aren't going to be available for each session, this still allows you to play, along with other members.

Q. I've never played Dungeons and Dragons, can I play?

A. Of course. New players are strongly encouraged. I have very little experience myself, but I found the game to be enjoyable right from the beginning. If you are unsure about committing to playing a game that you've never played before, you may want to try playing first as a "revolving" character. This way you can try out the game and decide whether you would want to play more.

Q. I want to play, but don't know anything about it. Where can I learn about Dungeons & Dragons?

A. There are plenty of places to learn about D&D on the internet, as well as plenty of local game shops. The best way to learn is to watch, read, and play your first session with an open mind. There are tons of videos, explanations, tutorials and more online, so here are a few I want to highlight:

The Wizards of the Coast Official website has plenty of materials for new players, including a basic player's handbook (http://dnd.wizards.com/articles/features/basicrules ), which covers some of the most important and basic elements of the game, but does not cover all races, classes, backgrounds, and spells. Q. I'm in. What should I get to be ready to play?

A. Nothing! Actually, there is some prep-work I would love to help you go through if you need it. Just comment below and I can get you the resources you need, no purchase necessary! The short answer is that you'll need a computer, a working microphone, Discord, and a Roll20 account. 

Q. Hey, how and what type of Dungeons & Dragons are we playing?

A. We will be playing 5th Edition D&D through Roll20, a free to use website for tabletop and roleplaying games, like D&D. We will be using Discord as well for voice chat.

Q. Who is playing, and how many can play?

A. Right now I will be the acting Dungeon Master, who creates and runs each session. I run all of the NPCs, the bad guys, and describe the world around you. As for players, RedStarRocket91, Church, and D38Boss are playing. Feel free to ask them about who they are playing. 

As for how many can play, that depends. If many people can play and commit to sessions, we may need to craft a second party and have a second DM. If we have a lot of people that can only commit to playing once in a while, we can have them cycle through playing the same "revolving" character. I might run a special session for those who want to try the game. Ideally there should be 1 DM and 4 or 5 players per session.

Q. Is there a trial session I can attend?

A. You really don't need one to play. The rules are fairly simple to get you through a session if you played as a revolving character in the main group. This being said, if multiple members want to try it out, I am more than happy to run a trial session for those members.

Q. Will these sessions be recorded and put up on the forum Youtube channel, or stream to Twitch?

A. It's definitely a possibility, especially after we get used to playing.

Since I stared forging half a year ago I created 4 BTB maps.

They are already tested quite a few times so it's nothing completely "fresh", or buggy or unbalanced - or at least I hope so.

Unfortunately it quite difficult to find enough players to actually play my own maps. And that....makes me sad

So I was hoping some of you might wanna join a little "Game night" of mine.

The thing is: I'm from German and therefore I'm living in a completely different timezone. I'd like to start this Saturday (10th) at 9pm Berlin time. That's...3pm in the US?

You don't have to join my party So you won't get annoyed by us saying "Sauerkraut", "Autobahn" and Nazi-stuff all the time. Also we could have a little duel like "Team Germany vs. Team America" or something.

You have to win 3 out of 5.
