I would say he is alive because on the 5th level with the encounter of the librarian she says that only the composer can kill the didact. The didact fell into the composer which probably wouldn't kill him because it was already being fired at Earth. I hope this help answer your question

Since the 6th November 2012 343 industries have exceeded all of my expectations on halo 4, like all it has a few minor flaws which could make the game better. This is what I would like to see in a couple of months of time: Campaign theater - It's in multiplayer so why can't it be in campaign? Invasion/Invasion slayer - one of the the best thing of Reach which would be an incredible addition to the games multiplayer. Larger forge maps - The game has improved on forge since Reach with the mechanics of tools and objects but the only improvement to be made for the forge are the map sizes, I'm aware that Halo 4 already takes up 8GB on the hardrive but if the maps are big enough to map large scale maps like on reach I would struggle to think of any additions to the forge on future halo's. That is all I can see which should be improved for the game (In my honest opinion) for the meantime. Let me now if you agree or disagree with these ideas. I know that 343 aren't ignorant to the community and want to make it a better game but I would like to see what everyone else thinks.
