  1. Recon wasn't for the best players, but often the most famous. Also, everyone had recon after ODST.
  2. wat And does Chief have armor? Chief would probably destroy him with or without armor...
  3. So, I have the limited war games pass. I got all 3 DLC packs downloaded on my main xbox. On my other xbox, I technically have them downloaded too, but when I play using my same account, it won't load any of the maps. Is it really a one console assigned deal? Or is there some kind of glitch? Does anyone know how I could fix this?
  4. I called it when they announced it, and I'm not sure I was wrong. The DMR was only SLIGHTLY better than the BR. Now, it may be the BR is significantly more powerful than the DMR, and might stomp every other weapon. I'm not sure. The autos feel better. The carbine definitely feels nice. I'm not sure why they chose to further minmax the Light Rifle. Making the unzoomed suck harder, but the zoomed rock hard further makes it a completely situation weapon. In the long run, the BR may be too strong to allow the other weapons their chance to shine. This isn't a terrible thing, but time will tell. It is interesting. The movement speed is bonkers. Really fast now. I'm not sure the fastest halo should have gotten faster. We'll see with time. I haven't noticed the overshield change. I swear its still one layer. If I had to guess, I would say that the BR is better than the DMR now, than the DMR was better than the BR before.
  5. I don't really like the idea of streaks. Their even more rich get richer, and encourage players to cheese as hard as they can to get that spree. As it stands, generally even the losing players get ordinance/a chance, which is pretty interesting. Reason being, one of the main reasons people (not the super hardcore) criticize the ordinance system is that it gives winning players more power weapons. However, it's really the opposite problem. As stated, losing players who are playing badly can get easy to use OHK weapons. In my opnion though, there is only really ONE big problem per sey with the current system. And that is simply that its far too random. There is no reason to have it that random. There is no reason to ever have grenades (just two) as an option. There's no reason to not guarantee one sniper/CQC type weapon rather than wonky weapons like the needler. SOME system where this is less random could help. But really, here's my beef. Originally, if I recall, before H4 came out, it was described very differently. From what I remember, ordinance would come in randomly. However, all players would receive a notification on when and where it would be coming. This would create dynamic map movement where teams would make a move to secure those weapons, and have to fight over it. And even better, it could have been assumed ordinance would drop in two or three spots at the same time, forcing teams to split or choose which weapons they want to try to secure. I feel like maybe 2 or 3 times a standard game this event might occur. That's the impression they initially gave. And I like it. Unfortunately, here's what happened. We got really random weapons dropping with zero warning. You don't plan to get map ordinance. It just drops nearby, you see it, and get it. It's completely arbitrary, and players most often just happen to get the weapon. Even with the Drop Recon perk, the warning they give you is pathetic and glitchy. The result is not a new, exciting method of weapon distribution, or a classic approach, but something different and funky entirely. Ironically, they kept would might be the lamest part of weapon placement: the initial rush. Nothing feels more gimmicky then every player rushing the middle for inc. cannon in the beginning of the match. Why they kept this, but then ditched all semblance of controlled ordinance is beyond me. I would have liked to see ordinance give a global warning to players. Imagine. "Ordinance incoming in 30 seconds". Little waypoints of a rocket and sword appear. People fight over weapons. It could work. This is simply awkward.
  6. I have a few gripes with 4, some big, some small. But the bottom line is, despite what people say, the game still plays like Halo. Most of the things that make halo great are present in 4. That's the most important thing, and that's why I think 343 did a good job. Yes, they could have done better. Lets' see how 5 is.
  7. There's an argument on both sides. Sure, the game is good, and if you like it, you should be playing it simply because you like it. Ultimately, that's why people play games. However, it is a bit perplexing that 1. One can hit the cap easily after a month or two of moderate play. Why even have a cap? Why have credits earned anymore? Inheritor is different, since it would take anyone likely over a year of consistent play to reach, and 99% of players never reached it. 2. Like so many ranking systems out there, such a huge emphasis is put on unlockables that ultimately don't really matter. 3. A fulfilling rank system is still absent, and likely now always will be, despite virtually everyone asking for it. Though H4 is a good game that you should just play because its good and fun. On the other hand, it could be better in many, simple ways.
  8. 1. There's no reason to imply that CoD takes no skill. I would rather both fanbases respect the other game properly. 2. There's nothing inherently wrong with a exp system like what we have, only it probably should have a higher cap, and be accompanied by an actual RANK. You know, like all the cool games now. Starcraft, League, and even Blops 2 has it, and it works very well. 3. The stupidity of the proposed system has nothing to do with anything else. It should be changed, but everything else would be fine with it. 4. H4 doesn't need saving, just a nice boost, which I agree, it will probably not get. People are too drastic with their words, and it makes them less credible. H4 is still one of the most popular games on xbox, and Halo games always will be. Just because it's shrunk down a bit because of CoD and silly decisions doesn't mean it's not still a huge title that "needs saving". Not that aren't lots of things I would do to improve it. 5. Ideal system: Just add leauges/ELO. Like what SC2 has. Reach basically had it, though it was executed terribly. ELO should always be based of W/L, because that's how it works. Otherwise you get awkward problems (like Reach).
  9. Isn't it a lot better than none at all?
  10. I've got the season pass. So... yeah. I hope they're as good as the majestic ones. All the maps in general really lack artistic/theme/setting variation.
  11. Halo's gameplay mechanics are far too complex and dynamic to even begin to create a convincing AI. I suppose the option coulnd't be a bad thing, but never in MM. As said, it made Gears MM extremely annoying. But it wouldn't do a whole lot in teaching you Halo. I suppose shooting at it to learn marksmanship could work okay.
  12. The fact of the matter is that even as different as the Halo games are, even when developed by a different studio, the games are still more "similar" than most sequels from other franchises after so long a period of time. On a truly fundamental level, little has changed, and only gradually have they made that change at all.
  13. Game is nothing like CoD. You clearly don't understand either game. As someone who plays both on a regular basis. I feel H3 is a better game than H4. I feel that H4's gameplay itself has some advantages over H3. It feels a bit tighter, in some ways more polished, and the weapon variety is nicer in some ways (but not in others). However, I feel H3 is pretty much a "flawless game". As has been stated, its maps are phenomenal. It's massive step forward with Forge and Theater among other things are to this day truly impressive for the time. It's playlists rocked, and the ranking system worked. There are very few things about H3 I could look at and want to change. H4 is different. I like it quite a bit. I feel it got a few things right really well. Some things not so much. It's sort of an extreme version of the game, in both directions. It's better in some ways, and weaker in others. As a result, I would call 3 the better game. I feel H4 is missing just another layer of something to become truly great, perfect as 3 was. Better even. It's just missing a few key things, and has some excess that could be shaved off, but at its core, it's a great Halo. It's been described before as a diamond in the rough. I would agree with this. I would say H3 is a smaller diamond, but polished perfectly.
  14. I agree on a few things. I agree that there are things 343 could change that would be difficult/costly/take effort, and things that really wouldn't. I don't agree about some of the balance changes, but then again, I always preffered Team Slayer over MLG/So called Competitive playlists. My easy fixes are as follows. -Give us back our gametypes. Assault, VIP, Race, One Flag... There's no freaking assymetrical gametypes in this game. That drives me nuts. -Give us at least the option for eliminatino based play. -I feel that the CQC weapons might be in need of some balance play. -Show us our damn rank. Honestly. Black Ops 2's ranking system is pretty awesome (As seen in Starcraft/LoL). Halo Reach had a similar system, but it promoted selfish, kill hogging frantic play and was in general a mess. A combinatino of H3 and R ranking system could work well. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY 343 SEEMS HESITANT TO GIVE THE RANKING SYSTEM THAT SO MANY FANS SEEM TO ASK FOR. NO ONE ASKED FOR INVISIBLE TRUSKILL. -If ordinance is going to work, the choices need some balancing. Frags, Speed Boost, Needler is just silly. And it comes up to often to be an accident. Stop doing this to us. I like speed boost quite a bit, but a Needler and *** is simply not equal to a Shotgun and Sniper. It's not. -There was a time when the word was that all players would be warned when ordinance was incoming. And it was more random. This would make all players realize they need to change their plan and adapt on the spot to control the incoming weapon. Instead, we have this sort of random timing but static placement, offering sort of the worst of both worlds, in retrospect. I find myself "bumbling" into Ordinance far too often in H4. Part of me feels it was a bad idea. Not sure. Other things... Why is the level cap so low this time? I'm max rank and I've almost spent more time on CoD. No theater for Campaign and SO is sad face. I don't understand why SO is unlosable, it drives me nuts. Maps need far more artistic variety I feel that certain perks/abilities could use a buff. I think Hardlight Shield, Sentry, Shielding, and the Tracker perk need a buff. Thruster maybe. I don't think the one grenade penalty was necessary on Pulses, they're not that great. SHOW THE DAMN TEAM SCORE IN THE CARNAGE REPORT. JESUS. SHOW THE NAME OF THE GAMETYPE VOTED FOR, NOT THE PLAYLIST YOU'RE IN BEFORE A GAME. More skins? A simple color picker would be very cool... Maybe same for the visor. Thruster Pack shouldn't cancel momentum in mancannons. It should multiply. And I'm not sure how I feel about it sending you DOWN in the air.
