As soon as next week, Microsoft is planning to launch a $99 Xbox 360 bundle with a monthly subscription, according to a new report.

The Verge says Microsoft will offer a 4GB console with a Kinect sensor at its U.S. stores that includes a monthly fee of $15. The subscription will be two years and give you access you Xbox Live Gold and possibly more. The report also notes there will be a termination fee if the contract is broken ahead of time.

Microsoft said it has not made any announcements and does not comment on rumor or speculation.

Thanks for the news but ill pass. Just buy a regular priced xbox. There is a reason they run "deals" like this, its because they make more money lol! And a 4 Gigabyte hard drive is hardly enough space, you could maybe have two saved games lol. You will end up paying over 400 bucks when it's alll said and done, so no thanks.

Thank you for putting this up here, it will be useful to someone I'm sure. However, I do not see the point in buying this, $99.00 is still a lot for an Xbox that only has 4GB of space, comparing that to the 250GB of space on the normal Super Elite. Granted it does have a two year subscription, but you will have to pay a lot more for memory cards as a result of the lack if space.

Nonetheless, this will be useful to someone out there. Much appreciated for posting this, you're a good man.

I'll probably pass....I'm already set with one of the newer model Xbox's...so I'm content atm

Actually, from experience, 4GB is more than enough if all you're using it for is saved game files. But that's about it really. I bought a 60GB drive and am happy with it. But 4GB is perfect for people on a limited budget or for those who don't need the extra space.

Edit: Consider it the new low-end 360.

Edit 2: I also agree, however, that this subscription based 360 isn't worth it. Just an attempt to sucker someone into paying even more for their 360.

4GB is enough for a cheap flash drive, not a $100 console with monthly fees. And the fact that nobody is just going to use it for save games, they'll want to try demo's and get dlc for their favourite games, making the 4GB a scam for people who are limited on tech knowledge.

I don't see why they are doing that now, the reason a console publisher would do that would be to get new adopters for a brand new console, not one that has been out for 7 years, by the way, we better be getting a new x-box in 2013 otherwise I will be disappoint.

I'm not limited on tech knowledge, and yet I bought a 4GB model last year. For awhile, that's all I needed because all I was doing was saving games. I didn't get a hard drive until I got Fallout 3 and my friend offered to let me download the DLC from his special edition copy. The only other DLC I have ever downloaded was for Fallout New Vegas and the preorder bonuses for Halo Anniversary. Oh and I also got Resident Evil 4 since I didn't have another copy of it.

Some casual gamers only need 4GB as they don't download DLC. I'm not saying it fits everyone. But, for the price, I think it's pretty fair since that's the reason why I was able to get a 360 with Xbox Live and a video game for it to begin with.

This is a good idea for people who have low income, and the 4gb model xbox 360 was designed to be a family console because kinect games take up roughly 2mb to save and a profile is between 5 and 16mb.

Also, you have acess to cloud storage and streaming like netflix.

Personally I think this is a great idea.

We are not getting a new xbox next year, the 360 has 2 more years as has been said by Microsoft. I guess this kind of proves it with them releasing an xbox now and then having people pay $15 a month for the next 2 years. Microsoft has said many times that the 360 has a 10 year life cycle, I believe they cut that to 2014 though. We are getting the WiiU next year and the PS4, possibly. I see no reason why anyone should be angry at all about another 2 years for the xbox. Think about it, the next gen consoles have been announced to not have backwards compatibility, so that would mean your Halo 4 would be good for A YEAR. It would just not make sense in any view point to come out with another xbox yet. If you want to play high end graphic games get a good PC. If you can't afford a new PC, well that's a personal problem. Sorry if that sounds rather harsh but it's true.

I'd rather have it come out in 2014. Mah Halo 4 demands it. But, no. Halo 4 can't come out then the new Xbox arrive. It'd suck.
