halo 4 cross platform release to PC

i am not sure if this is the place to post this. but i will adress it to the higher ups right now, as you may or may not have noticed, the PC audience sure isn't declining, but the fans of halo left on consoles has severly decreased due to the popularity of games like COD. I personally know many many PC gamers who would absolutely love both halo 4 to be on the PC, and for halo 3, ODST, or reach to be ported. i do not know your company's relationship to microsoft and why microsoft has decided not to have the other halo games on PC, despite that they own the only OS which games are developed for, but it is a fact that many people would love to have halo be a crossplatform release, and not a shoddy one either, it should be optimized for both PC and xbox. i would also suggest microsoft to abandon a possible games for windows live release, because despite a certain percent of the profit going to steam, the sales will be tenfold to retail, as many steam users are wary of switching to different services (origin is an example here). another note: halo: CE on the PC, has thousands of mods, and is still active to this day, even more active than something like CS 1.6. some mods even make it look close to as good as halo reach. this is a perfect example of how a PC release would make the custom content development boom, and PC gamers do prefere open source, even providing a simple system to upload custom maps from a mapmaker toolset (both forge and a devtool set, like valve's source SDK), and even custom made skins, weapons, etc. dedicated servers also also a must on any multiplayer PC release, i hope someone can see my suggestions and at least take it to mind, any supporters can discuss it too. :sorcerer:

I agree with this wholeheartedly. Halo has potential to have a HUGE community again on PC, and its really what the PC needs right now, a popular arena(ish) shooter with plenty of potential to fun custom game types. I know I'm one of many people who absolutely loved the first two halo games but hated having to play the newer games at a friends house because they were only available for a console I have no interest in whatsoever.

Halo's fanbase is already established on PC, they want to give you their money for a new halo game. TAKE THEIR MONEY. I am 100% positive that a well done PC port would be way more than profitable. (and yes, I am aware that porting a game is REALLY expensive, and takes quite a bit of development time.) There are already two Halo games that have proven that. I know that the recent halo games were not ported to PC probably at Microsoft's insistence, but if there's one thing I know about MS, its that they, like all companies, like money. Ladies and Gentlemen, there are few more surefire moneymakers than a PC version of halo 4.

Hell, I'll take a Halo 3 port at this point, that game was fantastic.

You don't even have to port it, outsource it to Gearbox like Bungie did with the first Halo. Gearbox did an amazing job with that port, hell they even improved it far beyond the console version.

even as the poster of this thread, i think it might be hopeless, microsoft does not know what is right or wrong for their company, kinect was not successful, halo reach probably had a higher net profit, they are hopeless and frankly i don't know why 343i is under them, there are many developers that made xbox exclusives that are not microsoft's slaves

Judging from the Halofest interview they are aware and behind the PC community. The forthcoming new XBOX has been rumored to carry some unique features that are not quite clear to me, but that may be the time for the PC community to get attention. After the game is released there will be time for 343 to take a closer look at PC based gaming, if they are not already doing so. There was a direct question asked of the panel at Halofest about the mod community. I can not remember the exact response, but it is there. Mostly my opinion based on what I have read and seen.

It would be cool, but it's not neccessary. I dont understand your burning desire for a PC version. Oh wait, for Mods. You dont buy PC games for their quality, you buy it for the mods. Not saying thats bad. Lord knows, I do it too.

i want it on PC because FPS is meant for PC, games like halo and timesplitters did do a good job of FPS on console but that fact is dedicated servers and Mouse and keyboard is far better for FPS, also graphics, but that is only a small part of it

FPS is not meant for any consoles let alone PC. I can equally argue FPS 's should be made for Consoles only. Dedicated servers can be done on consoles. I find my controller is way better for FPS's than Mouse and Keyboard. Graphics. Wow. Who the hell cares about how good your graphics are.

okay, this isn't about preference, it is fact that a mouse is more accurate than a thumbstick, maybe movement on keyboard isn't as varied but really, walk and run is all you need, you also get good FPS on PC, compared to a maximum of 30 on consoles. and yes, graphics do matter in the end, if a game looks like **** and it could look much better if on PC then it should get at least a crossplatform release, if you honestly think how a game looks and performs does not contribute to the final product you are not thinking straight, FPS was developed around mouse and keyboard and frankly, if there was something better for detecting hand movements and translating them into the Player character's movements, they would have made it by now, or the tech isn't enough in motion control.

Nope. I really am best with a controller than a keyboard. I get a good FPS on consoles. Goldeneye 007 on the 360 was at 60. Graphics dont matter when they are Halo 4 graphics. I never said performance does not matter. I said graphics does not matter as much as you make it out to be. I can argue FPS is made for Consoles using Halo and Timesplitters.

30 frames per second is not considered a "good" framerate by PC standards. 60 frames, even, is considered somewhat average.

Also, first Person shooters were quite literally made for PC. They were barely even playable on console before games like Halo and Timesplitters.

This immature platform vs platform mentality is beside the point, however. Whether you play games better on console or PC, surely you must see the advantages of simply sharing the game with PC gamers if it does not detract from your own experience.
