The current video game console generation is entering is nearing its end, and with that inevitability with the unceasing rumors of what each company's next hardware will be capable of, Nintendo has already shown its hand by unveling the Wii U, and now some 'tasty tidbits' (XD) are beginning to surface regarding the next Xbox from Microsoft. Nicknamed the Xbox 720, some new, well-sourced rumors have suggested that it will be six times as powerful as the current Xbox. :unworthy:

The Xbox 360 is no slouch, and still hosts some of the most popular games, but the hardware is approaching its 6th birthday and some serious advancements have been made in the world of graphic processing in the last half decade. The new Xbox will reportedly run on a derivative of the AMD's 6670 graphics chip, which supports 1080p HD, 3D, and linking to multiple external displays.

Compared to the Wii U, the Xbox 720 should be roughly 20% more powerful, though the stats of the two systems are said to be close enough that their audiences may not even notice a difference. Like Microsoft, Sony has yet to officially reveal anything about its followup to the Playstation 3, but based on their console release history, a new machine is surely in the works. Where the PlayStation 4 will stack up in comparison to the new systems by Nintendo and Microsoft is anyone's guess.

So now their talking about the new consoles? You know i have loved console gaming since i even started gaming, but i prefer pc's for 1 reason. Each time a console is released we have to go out and buy it, then get all the games for it once again. At least with the pc all you have to do is upgrade a few parts and bam. Same game disc and not as much money wasted imo. Console is for the cheap gamers however, and i don't mean cheap by skill wise. I'm referring to those who don't have $500 to $800 to spend on a decent gaming pc. Just like me, i had a nice gaming pc but since it got sold i couldn't afford another one so i ended up getting a console. But i hope the new consoles at least have decent cooling unlike the first 360 and ps3. Both units kept getting fried until the new slim versions came out.

I agree. PC is definitely the way to go if you have the cash up front to start. It is cheper in the long run. I spent $3400 on my super upgraded MSI GT780DXR. It runs Battlefield 3 so smooth even on Ultra graphics enabled. Plus, you have Steam, like the XBM, you can buy games and download with no need for a disc. However, console gaming is where the big money is at because they have a larger playing community now. Used to be PC, now its PS, Xbox, And Wii. So Ill still have my laptop, but ill also get the new Xbox whenever it comes out.

I Disagree with the larger playing community part, i think SC2, TF2 and CS, plus games like Diablo 3 coming out and CS:GO, can only make the PC community stronger, on a world based level, PC is still the top gaming base to go for.

but, i agree with your first point, PC is much much better and can do so much more then an xbox, but xbox is still good for many reasons too.

All I ask... is that "Xbox 720" does not remain the name. Other than that... I look forward to the new console! ^_^

That's it? 6 times more? Wow Micro$oft....

That to me isn't very much, computers usually go to about 20 times more powerful.

But, 6? That is just, not much at all. I am not looking forward to this.

:/ Disappointed at you Microsoft... Disappointed...
