Suggestions for Reading Order

I'm currently reading through the Halo novels and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for the order in which I should read the books, as there are differences in release and chronological order, as well as plotlines. I have read the first four novels that were released ( Fall of Reach, Flood, First Strike, and Ghosts of Onyx). I would love some suggestions on what to read next and in what order.

Stay away from Karen Traviss's Kilo-Five Trilogy unless you absolutely must read all the novels. Cole Protocol takes place in the beginning of the Covenant War and can be read anytime. Contact Harvest is first contact with the Covenant and can also be read any time. As for following chronological time I guess it would go Kilo-Five, Last Light, Hunters in the Dark. I also recommend picking up the Evolutions short story anthologies.

I would go with the in-universe chronological order (some leeway for Fractures and Evolutions, being as they're compilations of multiple stories).  Greg Bear's novels are great, so it is good to start with them, and if you read closely, it may even change your perspective of the Flood's intentions.

Regarding the Kilo-Five trilogy, it's sort of a love-it or hate-it sort of thing.  Most opinions I've found are all one way or the other.  My opinion falls closer to the middle, which seems to be the oddity.
