Halo 5: Guardians eSports

With the ending of the Halo World Championships now well in our past and Counter-Logic Gaming crowned the victors there have been numerous roster changes in the Halo 5: Guardians pro circuit among many teams. Here are some changes reported from my favorite Halo eSports source, halo.esportspedia.com:

March 22nd, following the loss to CLG in HWC, Cratos and Suspector left Team Allegiance. Commonly of Evil Geniuses left this same day and was replaced by Cratos who left ALG.

March 23rd, Naded also leaves Allegiance leaving El Town to be the only member left.

On April 5th, El Town also left Team Allegiance leaving them without a roster. Naded joined Optic Gaming this same day after a couple of its members left joining Halo 3 vets Ace (who didn't rejoin until April 9th) and Flamesword and competitive player since Halo 2: MaNiaC.

April 9th, alongside Ace leaving Team Liquid to rejoin Optic Gaming, Huke and bubu dubu are released from Denial. They didn't leave they were released! The two best players!

In wake of this, two days later on April 11th, Huke and bubu dubu join Cratos (previously from Allegiance) and Shooter (previously from a not-well-known team named Winterfox) to create a brand new team named Enigma6.

April 14th, two members left Renegades and those spots have been filled by Commonly (previously from EG) and Penguin (previously from eLevate).

This thread is for Halo 5: Guardians eSports news, roster changes, tournament and general discussions including favorite teams, players, etc. Personally I've been a fan of Snip3down, Roy, and Lunchbox since Halo 3 and that makes me a pretty big, but disappointed, EG fan.

The next event will be a mini-tournament at PAX East on April 24th featuring:

Evil Geniuses

Snip3down

Roy

Lunchbox

Suspector

Team EnVyUs

Mikwen

Rayne

iGotUrPistola

eL TowN

Enigma6

Huke

bubu dubu

Cratos

Shooter

Optic Gaming

FlamesworD

Ace

Naded

MaNiaC

April 30th, Denial's roster is refilled by OGRE 2 the goat, Seduce, Arkanum, and Nemassist

Optic did manage to take a game off of CLG (!!!!!!), even though Frosty had a freaking killtacular in the Rig Strongholds match.  So it was 3-1 CLG over OG.

The other results were:

  • RNG 3-1 over Enigma6
  • Envyus 3-0 over Allegiance
  • EG 3-1 over Liquid

Most of the losers still looked pretty good or were able to put up a bit of a fight from what I could see.  Day 2 matches start tonight again at the same time!

Here's your HCS Orange Orange County Recap:

HCS OC took place on Friday and Saturday with about 20 teams signing up to play and more individual competing in the FFA tournament.

To start, Rammy left Team Denial and joined 3sUP with Munoz, Monster, and Prototype.

Shooter left Team Allegiance and joined onto Enigma 6.

The previous Chatt Shade Squad consisting of boamx, LifeStyle, Nemassist, and Dastroyed was acquired and is now sponsored by Most Wanted Gaming. Most Wanted ended up beating E6 more than once and placed 4th at their first event at HCS Orange County. For anyone that thinks boamx might be a familiar name, he was the MVP on his team in the BTBnet $1000 Summer Shootout tournament and Matclan and I interviewed him on-stream. Most Wanted took Team Liquid to a game 5 and was up against EnVyUs before getting reverse swept.

Team Liquid took third place - Spartan, Commonly, Penguin, Rayne.

EnVyUs took runner up - Huke, Snip3down, P1stola, Mikwen.

And as we all saw coming, Optic went home victorious with first prize. Optic being the previous Counter Logic Gaming team consisting of Lethul, Snakebite, Royal 2, and Frosty.

There were some exciting games and plays in the event. Most Wanted, 3sUP, Solstice, and the MoneyMatches Ego Rangers AKA Team Randa (Randa, Aries, TireIron, Baby J) qualified for HCS Open Circuit Finals.

Make sure to keep watching the Pro League if you're interested at twitch.tv/halo and keep up with the Open Circuit on weekends on twitch.tv/esportsarena or twitch.tv/pgl

And for HCS EU, Fab Esports has just won the Fall 2016 Halo 5 EU champions. Infused took second place and 2 AM teams are moving through relegation to the EU Pro League if I recall.

HCS NA finals are next weekend so tune in on twitch.tv/halo

Finally, the Female Pro League is looking for female Halo players to make a large circuit!

EU

EU ANNOUNCEMENT:

The EU Pro League has been removed and replaced with a series of open events. The first main event will be HCS London. 343 say they want to "add a premium LAN for the European community to call their own and rally behind."

We can expect to see more focus on the EU amateur scene which is large but widely unexplored.
