Accidentally deleted message with apology Gold Membership code

Recommended Posts

Hi, I accidentally deleted the message I received over Xbox LIVE with my free 1-month subscription to Xbox Live that was sent out to all user who had played MCC before 19/12

Only just loaded up my 360 after buying a One months back, so I only just saw the message ('cause seriously, does anyone even know how to use the One's interface?) and accidentally hit delete without redeeming the code.

Spoke to Xbox support about it and they told me to post a thread here, so here it is!

Thanks in advance,

Yeah, they sent me here. I thought it strange too, but that's MS support for you -.-

I swear, I was sent a message with the code. I know it wasn't someone trolling me because it only had the delete option, not a reply one, so it was certainly from someone official.

Back to square one then, I suppose :(

I highly doubt that Microsoft or Xbox Support, specifically directed you to this site by name and address.  They told you to go 343i's official website, and you probably did a Google search.  Unfortunately for us, Google as well as other various search engines will list us in the top 3 relevant search results.  Regardless, if you had paid any attention to the news and coverage surrounding the MCC issues, you would have already known that ANY XBL account that had valid Gold status during the issues, would receive an automatic credit for one additional month of Xbox Live without having to complete any form, response or otherwise.

For a community that supposedly is so INVOLVED with Halo and everything Halo, I find it humorous that troves of morons will overlook, ignore or not even notice information that is passed along via new sources regarding Halo.  It's no wonder the franchise is in the state it is in.  everyone is too busy arguing amongst themselves, rather than pay attention and pass along feedback to the proper outlets.

Yes, I really did just waste my 2,000th on something stupid like this.  I'm ashamed of myself.

I'm not sure whether or not that was supposed to come across as hostile, but I promise you I was linked here directly by Xbox support. I also swear that I was sent a message with a code in it for 1 month's subscription via Xbox LIVE so I know that I've missed out on something. I am now seeking help on 343i's actual website, hopefully I'll have some slightly less hostile responses than I did here.

Sign in online at Xbox.com. Go to "my account." Look at the expiration date for your live. If you met the qualifications to get a free month, you will have been credited. It was an automatic crediting system, and gave no notification to players (trust me, I am one of them). If for some reason after doing this you still believe that you were not credited, go to Xbox Support. They will be able to tell you if your account was credited, and if not, will be able to credit you it if you are able to prove you played before the 19th of December. If you need proof, I would suggest showing them an unlocked achievement from MCC from before that date. If they refuse or send you to 343i, ask to speak with a supervisor. I would suggest doing this online, as you will be able to give them a direct link to your achievements.

Trust me, if and when I'm being hostile, you'll know it. As for your claim that this exact site is being linked to by Xbox Support, I'd like to see or hear the referal. Because obviously if it is found that we are being linked, they need to stop! Too many useless posts for help are already being put up as it is. Anyone should be able to see clearly upon registering, that this is NOT an official outlet or professional company site.

Unfortunately, I didn't keep a copy of yesterday's conversation with Xbox Support as I didn't expect to need it for anything. I just finished talking to them again today (kept a copy of this conversation) and I did mention that I'd been linked to the wrong site (although thinking about it didn't actually state that it was this site they linked me to *facepalm*) so hopefully it won't happen again, but I think we both know they'll probably do sod all about it.

On a happier note, my problem has been resolved, smiles all around.

EDIT: minor typo

Feel free to stick around, we have some events going on in the near future if you are interested, otherwise feel free to browse the rest of the forums. It's always nice to have a new face with new ideas and thoughts be on the forums.

If not, see you on the virtual battlefield!

I guarantee you he was told to come here by MS Support. Why? Because there are literally dozens of members who were told the same thing.

See, MS Support does an internet search for 343i's contact information, and when you google or bing 343i, you get this the second hit on both sites. In the brain of the support idiots, they see Halowaypoint and they see 343 Industries Community Forum, and they think that this is 343i's official site and that halowaypoint is Halo's official site.

So they send people here to contact 343i. A lot.

We've tried to get them to stop, but apparently Microsoft can't control their support employees.
