Why give Halo a title now?

Recommended Posts

Why is there a need to give the new Halo a title?

All other Halos before, except Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 3: ODST, didn't have one and looked fine. I think it would look better without a title.  So there's not exploit or hint. Keep the continuity of the what the game hides. Titles for titles are only good for a story that branches off into a different story. Like, if there's going to be a Halo 4: whatever that played the roll of whoever. I would rather see that with a title than the next expansion fo the actually story.

What do YOU think?

I kind of agree just for the fact I liked Halo being called Halo *number* subtitles make me think it is a spinoff

But in this case like people above me have said a game makes a game not the name now Halo is in the fame and has a name for a game.(Lil chief mad raps)

Halo has always had a title... Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 3: Recon/ODST, Halo: Reach, Halo 4, Halo 5: Guardians. If you are referring to the extended title then I think it really doesn't matter does it? Halo: Reach was a prequel... and it was a decent Halo game. ODST, was different but consistent with the Halo theme, and Halo: CE, well... you get the point. So, I don't think it is really that much of a concern that they chose an extended title.

If you notice the pattern, Halo games with extended titles are the games that really develop the story more. Halo: CE: Beginning of the story. Halo 3: ODST, explained what happened behind the scenes. Halo: Reach: Explained what happened before Halo: CE.

So I am hoping that Halo 5: Guardians will do something similar for the story line.

Halo games without any words;

Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 4.

Halo games with words;

Halo Combat Evolved, Halo 3 ODST, Halo Wars, Halo Reach, Halo 5 Guardians.

Wouldn't it be correct to say it's more weird for it to have no wording at all.......?

Is this really what the Halo community has reduced to; complaining about everything that is different, even giving a game a subtitle? If the Halo fanbase continue to critique minor things like a subtitle then... The franchise is probably screwed....

Don't forget Halo Spartan Assault, Now I know it's not a main halo game made by Bungie or 343I, But Halo wars isn't either.

Well... They are enTITLEd to it....

But Halo: Reach and Halo 3: ODST... And Wars all had titles, though some were not completely in succession with one another, though it changes the fact that they possessed a label in no shape or form at all. But since it's a new Saga, it's nice to have a nifty little banner.

BUUUUUUUUUUT'T!

It could also be pointing towards a theory that Halo 5: Guardians could be much like ODST... Not completely on track of events after Halo 4, but still enough to tell a piece of the entire, much more complicated and convoluted story.

That is the case with every Halo except Halo 2, 3, and 4... Am I right?

They need to get rid of the Halo in the name.

Unless we're actually going to be involved with a Halo ring again.

Halo: Wars had nothing to do with any Halo's. The same with Reach, 3 ODST, and Spartan Assault...well I haven't played Spartan Assault so I am not betting anything on it.

So with what you just said, none of those games should have never had HALO in the title?

I'm hoping that people like that will just stop this non-sense! It's Halo! I agree entirely with you here.

Lets look at the amount of games with subtitles-

Halo: Combat Evolved

Halo 3: ODST

Halo Wars

Halo: Reach

Halo 5: Guardians

Halo: Spartan Assault

And those without-

Halo 2

Halo 3

Halo 4

Maybe they want to try and transition away from the word Halo being the main focus seeing as the actual Halo's aren't very important any more.

On the contrary, I'd say they are the most important aspect of the universe right now apart from Mendicant Bias and the Lesser Ark.

Installation 07 hasat least 12 proto-graveminds growing on it, Humans have Delta and Gamma Halo's indexes. Research at ivanoff station theorised that I03's (And presumably other) halo indexes have secondary and tertiary functions as well.

We certainly haven't seen the last of the array.

I would be inclined to agree if it weren't for the fact that the game is still being sold to a 'casual' majority. They saw a Halo for a whole 3 seconds in Halo 4. The title wasn't exactly living up to its name, literally. They might simply be trying to say there is more to this game than just being Halo 5.
