If there was a new weapon, what would it be like?

Mind control device.

A little Target Detonator like weapon that let's you take control of an enemy Spartan's suit motors, or something. Not literally Mind Control but controlling their suit.

As you control them you can use the suit to betray unaware enemy teamattes. Kill them, maim them, assassinate them, spread feces on their faces and etc.

The time to control the enemy would be short. Maybe 10 seconds. The max people you could kill would be around 3, or 4 (including the player you're controlling, who after either kills the max players, or is taken out by It's teammates who've caught on, the Player would self destruct in an explosion maybe half of that of a Frag Grenade).

Oh and once you control the player, it basically becomes a remote controlled auxiliary Team member. It turns red on the enemy team's radar, and can be killed by them for the regular amount of points per kill (or less, or more). It might also slightly change colors to give a heads up to people not looking at the radar.

When using this, you become stationary and imoble. Any enemy player can kill you and release the Player your controlling.

Now from the Person being controlled perspective, they just see their Player playing by itself. They can alert their team with a mic or something.

Now vehicles... Hold up I think the max ammo for the gun would be 3-ish. When you control a Vehicle it takes up all 3 ammo to use. Same deal with vehicles as with regular Players. You become another team memberz and the other team can kill you accordingly.

This is a power weapon. I call it... Cortex Cracker.

Someone posted this concept art for a "Needler Shotgun" of sorts in a thread a while back... I don't remember what thread exactly but I thought it was an awesome idea for a new Covenant spin-off of the shotgun and the gun looked really cool!

We debated how much damage it should deal per-shot and I think we came to an agreement that it should be a 2-hit kill, with the damage from the initial impact from the needles combined with the damage done by their explosions.

We didn't talk about whether or not the gun would be a single shot weapon or full-auto, but it's a shotgun so I'd say would single shot. And obviously it can't zoom, it's a shotgun :P

Needle-Rifle Sniper. Acts similar to a sniper, two shot body kill, or a Supercombine explosion detonated upon headshot. Would be more equalized than a Beam Rifle, which possesses a faster fire-rate than both the Sniper and Binary Rifle.

Would be nice to see... That or bring the Needle Rifle back... We already have a BR and DMR.

(Covenant) How about a weapon that shoots an electrified spherical blast that increases in size, but weakens in strength, as it goes farther? It can EMP vehicles, shoot at short/mid. range, and sticks the opponent if shot close enough. The gun would be solar cells to take electromagnetic pulses from the stars. It's an adaptation of Promethean technology into a plasmic design. The gun would be similar in shape to the extraction core, yet with the iconic hexagonal pattern and purple coloration. Also, it will have an arched aurora (purple and white) of light streaming into the right side of the gone when reloading; it will pertain to a rectangular opening that flips up.

Damage:

Short Range: Sticks them    Short * 2/ Mid. Range: Insta- Kill       Short/ mid range: Much damage         Mid range: meh...

------------------------ } ------------------------------- } --------------------------------- } ------------------

The combination of the two technologies would make the gun super-effective against the flood. Balancing the weapon can be done in two ways: Very few shots and strong weapon, with semi-quick reload time   & Many shots but looong reload time (reloading is pretty to watch though), and powerful still

That would be fun to have.

What I'd really like to see more of are special application weapons, rather than just raw damage dealers, as we have enough of those already - things like the Plasma Pistol, Plasma Cannon and Binary Rifle (which is used as much for intimidation and area control as it is actually shooting people - seriously, keep hold of it even when it's out of ammunition and see how many people walk into an area you're scoped at).

One of the things I've been thinking over is the Pulse Grenade, which is basically just a joke weapon as things stand right now: it does next to no damage, even if you're standing inside it when it finally dissipates, and it doesn't have a single advantage over either Frag or Plasma Grenades. Put bluntly, there are only three reasons you'd carry one, and that's because you're new and don't know any better, you like the way it looks, or you want a weapon to get humiliation kills with.

So what I'd like to see is a way of making the Pulse Grenade more useful in combat without fundamentally changing its purpose. First of all, whatever happens it needs a bigger blast radius - its current size is pathetic, especially considering only one can be carried, so you can't even put two down to stop people just walking around them. As for the actual damage, in the spirit of making it more dangerous with just having yet another direct damage grenade, what I'd suggest that while it continues to do roughly the same damage to shielded players, the pulse field not only lasts a bit longer than it currently does but also instantly kills any unshielded targets within. This opens up a lot more opportunities for tactical use, like cutting off a retreating opponent or mopping up several injured players at once - it would also make players a lot more hesitant about charging straight through an active pulse field, as currently you can just run through it without any real concerns about damage taken. It could also make for a very interesting set of applications during vehicle-based matches, as instead of destroying a vehicle outright perhaps planting it would only kill the driver and passengers without doing any structural damage, meaning you could then hijack it afterward.

On the topic of grenades, a couple of other ideas I've had in the past are EMP Grenades, which have a large blast radius but do nothing to their victims' health and are also capable of disabling vehicles; Sensor Grenades, which reveal any hostile targets in their radius for a few seconds (could be blocked or reduced by Stealth specialisation package, like Promethean Vision); Scrambler Grenades, which act like the Radar Jammer equipment in Halo 3 and add random dots to the motion trackers of anyone who strays too near; and lastly Inhibitor Grenades, which do little or no damage at all in the traditional sense, but have temporary negative affects on anyone caught in the blast such as shutting down their HUD and motion tracker, stopping shield regeneration, and preventing the use of armour abilities (even if currently in use).

Mostly, I just want to get away from the idea of traditional damage-dealing weaponry, as I honestly think that for the most part right we've got more than enough of those and adding more would just be to increase variety, rather than to try and fill gaps in purpose.

This thread is literally so awesome ohgoodness

How about a Needler Machine Gun that fires a rapid barrage of needles that DON'T home in on targets and could function as the SAW in terms of Time-To-Kill but a shorter range and about the clip size of two needlers.

I also think some sort of Forerunner Assault Rifle that had an alternate fire mode that was like a mini incineration cannon. I'll develop on the concept later.

Maybe a Forerunner rail gun that shoots slowly (at 1.3% speed of the current unscoped light rifle) a three shot kill... Unless the trigger is held down, activating a charge shot that is a one shot kill at a SPECIFIC range, so that it is not boltshot-ish.

There should be a weapon that does no damage, just used for tactical purposes. The rounds would slow your target down, including movement, reloading, aiming, switching weapons, throwing grenades, etc. It should also work on vehicles. To fire it, you'd need to charge it for the same amount of time as the Rail gun. It would be a UNSC weapon. There should also be a similar weapon for the Forerunners that would impair your vision.

My personal fantasy would probably be a Plasma Sniper Rifle. It would work similar to the Smart Pistol in Titanfall. A good three inch across and three inch estimated vertical radius on the reticle needs to be held down over the enemy's head exactly for a few seconds, then fires a perfect deadly complete slicing headshot. Now of course Halo has never show limbs fall off, so to get rid of this problem the body will simply dissipate in a particle effect, sort of like with the Promethean weapons. I imagine the gun would have a smooth crimson hexagonal paint job, with some shiny silver in certain mechanisms and the trigger. Imagine that... Yeah.

Smart Pistols needed an ounce of skill in Titanfall due to the massively low kill times and supreme movement speed that made using a gun that aimed for you need you to aim as well. In Halo, movement speed is much lower, and kill times much lower as well. This would be a boltshot, except you no longer have to aim.

I'll probably write a weapon up later.

They should add a UNSC melee weapon too. Those would both be awesome.

You know the swords that appear on the shield when you up the games difficulty? Those were meant to be in Halo: CE I believe. But the idea was scrapped because it would be pretty useless.

I believe a while ago Twin said something about the Pulse grenade having different abilities. At least traces can still be found in the code. One of the effects would be EMP. This idea sounds close to Promethean weaponry because all promethean weapons have something like a second feature. Boltshot= pistol+shotgun, Scattershot has bouncing bullets, zooming the light rifle makes it single shot, etc. Maybe the Pulse grenades were meant to have lethal and EMP damage?

But yeah... The Pulse grenades really need a buff.

I just want weapons for the variety and flavour really.

And at the top of that list is a UNSC laser rifle, because lasers.

And full auto lasers will be pretty.

Like a Sentinel Beam uninterrupted or something that goes pew pew pew?

My personal fantasy would probably be a Plasma Sniper Rifle. It would work similar to the Smart Pistol in Titanfall.

NopeNopeNopeNopeNopeNopeNopeNopeNopeNopeNopeNopeNopeNopeNopeNopeNopeNope

Something I'd like to see is Promethean vehicles. I know there's not much need for them since we have Covvie and UNSC vehicles that pretty much cover anything. But with the improved Xbox One hardware they might be able to make some larger scaled maps that can feature more vehicles. And of course sticking with the classic Promethean team let it have double features. Like having a gun on top that has two fire modes. Or having a vehicle that can jump in all directions to evade things... Just brainstorming here.

A Promethean melee weapon, like the things the knight has. Don't know how they would make it different from the sword though. Maybe make it a two shot kill but a really fast swing.Or it has to charge like a Spartan Laser and if you hit a target you lunge super fast and you kill them. If you miss you could lose your shield or something. No idea, just want to have a glowing orange sword thing.

I would also like a better assault rifle for any group. One that shoots slower but has more accuracy.

I also think some type of revolver would be cool. Maybe replace the boltshot with a Promethean 'Revolver' with a good amount of power, but some decent kickback.

A fully automatic Gauss Minigun. Each shot has the power of a shot from a Gauss Turret, and it fires 7000 rpm.

Also, just like the Gauss Hog, it has unlimited ammo.

This, because why not? Also, bring back the Halo 2 energy sword mechanics. While I like the design of the new ones, they seem....ugh. I don't know how to describe it, really.

No.

Pulse Grenades are OP as *$@

If you aren't using them right, then you aren't using them right. Half the time the user is an idiot who is using the grenade like it's a Frag or Sticky, the other half of the time the user has mastered usage of this pulse grenade and is using it like a god. This thing is one of the most powerful pieces of warfare in the sandbox of Halo 4, yet due to it's high risk of doing absolutely inversely proportional to the high reward of using it well, it's something that is fairly balanced, if not even called out to be an underpowered piece of trash, when in reality this is a weapon of psychological warfare on par with the hum of a PP, the sight of a laser, or the bass blasts of an Incineration cannon.

Pulse Grenades OP.

I want customizable weapons. I want attachments that can vary the gameplay of weapons in a balanced manner. I want different colors. I want more colors.
