VinWarrior
With Halo 5 news quite slim in the coming months of the Electronic Expo, or E3, we might now have a huge leak on our hands, as Walmart has listed Halo on Xbox One to launch on October 1st, 2014. All we currently know for sure of Halo on Xbox One is that it will be a continuation of Chief's journey, run at 60fps and 1080p resolution, and Halo Escalation #7 will somehow tie into Chief's journey in it. Now, according to Walmart.com themselves, Halo on Xbox One could be launching this fall on October 1st, 2014. Whether this is a pre-set date or an estimated date, we have yet to learn, but there are some peculiar things about it. October 1st is a Wednesday for starters, most games release on Tuesday or Friday, Wednesday would be an odd date to launch it off at. Next, it doesn't follow the November time-frame 343i uses, rather it looks to be lining up to compete in some way with Destiny, or even Arkham Knight, which releases that month. Another red flag is a pecular description, stating, "Halo 5, a Microsoft console exclusive, is a pre-release general shooter game to be released in December of 2014." so then what date is 343i aiming for? Could these be two different dates for different countries? As for right now, we don't know for certain, but it is a good tip-off. Surprising info that could definitely be aimed to throw die-hard fans off guard and confuse them, so would you want a Halo 5 to release in October, following the launches of other big titles which could hinder it's sales? Coldfreeze
Bigger chance that its a preset date.
Maximum Clutch
I'd rather it be later in November so I could have some decent time with Destiny before it comes out.
Caboose The Ace
343I and MS would be stupid to do it because it is so close from Destiny's launch I would wait till at least November 6th.
Mr Biggles
Why would Walmart know? It's not like MS would just release the date to stores now. They'll probably know along with everyone else the release date.Good post, but take it with a pinch of salt. BeckoningZebra1
I hope not. I'm really beginning to look forward to Halo 2 Anniversary, I think it's highly unlikely they both launch the same year, because (1) They'd be their own worst enemy when it came to online population and sales (2) I find it hard to think that both could be fully developed and tuned so shortly after Halo 4's release. So I'm really skeptical of this report, besides large retailers have been known to ask for money before they have all their facts 100% verified. Akali
although the source seems legit im guessing that it isnt true because like zeebs said stores try to get money from the item before they have all the facts because it is another way of advertisement and EVERY store loves money
Buns
Highly unlikely October 1st isn't even on a Tuesday which is the best day to sell tripleAAA games in America(Business reasons) Not to mention this barely even gives 343i time to promote the game. I am going to guess it's in November probably early - mid November like most Halo games. (or September if 343i is suicidal enough to take Bungie head on)
Connor Kenway
I'm just going to go ahead and say this, if "Halo 5" releases this year I'm leaving the franchise for good as it will be a big mistake like Halo 4 releasing 2012 and not 2013

Sound logic You have 0 idea maybe Halo 5 will be the best Halo yet maybe it won't who knows? Only time will tell and 343i already know theyre standing on very thin ice and they're not going to risk losing a good portion of the Halo fanbase unless they were confident they could deliver a good game.
The Stig
Its a win-lose, win-lose situation. Either they release it that soon and we get to play it that much sooner (Win). But the game could suffer from less development time and polish (Lose). But if they wait release it, the game benefits (Win). Then again if they wait to long to release it, we suffer (Lose). In other words, it is one of those "Between a Rock and a hard place" types of situation... Twinreaper
For starters, 343i...Bungie they are not. Not even Bungie was well resourced enough or staffed to spit other title so quickly. I find it highly unlikely that another Halo title would launch just shy of 2 years of the previous one. Given the development pipeline and consideration to the massive marketing upscale required, this is all total bull****. The logic itself is shortly. Walmart...out of all the gaming news sources and outlets, Walmart is the first to know the release date? Cmon...that in itself just screams wreaks of poop turds gallore! Aside from all that nonsense, there is no win for Microcrap to release another Halo title this early. Again because of development structures and resources it would be a very unpolished game running on a rewritten engine that more than likely had 0 realtime testing. Whatever this date is with the name Halo, is likely some sort of promotion or Beta access. Just the way they describe the game as a "General Shooter" is mind boggling. Anyone who even remotely believes in this, should seriously have themselves checked out at a professional institute.
Coldfreeze
I think a 2015 release date is more likely, this sounds like walmart cashing in quick revenues.
Unease Peanut
Well I do remeber when Wal-mart did something similair with the Halo 4 release date. Everybody was going nuts about the release date Wal-mart put up but it was just a place holder. Just like this one I believe.

Mistakes happen.

This not only would explain the Halo 2 Anniversary hints, but also the statements 343 industries has made, saying "You next Halo journey begins 2014 on Xbox One." I saw something like this too a month or two ago, but it was from a supposed leak (I think) from NeoGaf. What makes this potentially credible is that they also leaked a custom painted Titanfall Xbox One before it was released... and then like a week later some dude from EA posted a picture of the exact same Xbox. The Beta-Piggyback has sound logic, and seems to be the most likely thing to happen, but who knows. 343 might pull a freaking jump kick on us at E3 and completely crap on expectations, but we can only wait to find out. Seeker of Truth
I'm certainly willing to at least give it a chance, given that Escalation has been quite interesting (and raised a lot of questions) so far. However, I would like the removal of specializations, instant respawns and ordnance drops from the game. The fact that they've incorporated the script writer from Republic Commando, which was quite bland and had effectively zero character development is a bad sign, but not nearly enough to give up hope on the game over (I think he also contributed to Skyrim, which is a fantastic game). Then again isn't Frank O'Connor the one who actually decides where the series goes, being the Franchise Development Director and all? He always was my favorite Bungiue employee.
