We can all assume that, in the spirit of innovation, 343i will be introducing some new AA's to War Games. However... I'm curious as to whether there are any ones that were in Halo 4 that the community feels strongly should or shouldn't be brought back. I'm going to go through all of the ones in Halo 4 and explain my reasoning for them.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Jet Pack - This should be brought back but should be severely altered. As opposed to being able to hover in the air for 10 seconds at a time it should be changed so that it is more similar to the jump boots in UT3. As opposed to being rather slow and lasting for 3 seconds it should be a very quick and powerful upward movement for about 1 second. This would allow the player to do much of the same stuff but would require much more skill and would have far more margin for error.

Hardlight Shield - This one I think is nearly perfect as is. No changes necessary

Hologram - This one is perfect as is. No changes necessary.

Regeneration Field - This one should make the cut but it does require some change. Because we traditionally want to keep the flow of combat moving in level design and having somebody plop down a healing field and wait it out is contradictory to this goal, we need to control the power of the AA. The changes I would suggest are simple. One well placed BR burst into the AA would instantly cut it off. Also it would only last for about 75% as long as it does in Halo 4.

Active Camo - I tend to think that this is the one AA that was in Halo 4 that should not be brought up to Halo 5. However, it might be worth testing different fixes for it to see if one works. One possible solution would be to make the camo significantly weaker. Another would be to make a support upgrade or something that outlines active camo users while scoped in.

Thruster Pack - This one is perfect as is. Actually it might be worth it to give this one a little distance boost. I couldn't find too many good uses with this in Halo 4 unless I was doing trick jumps at the man cannons in Haven.

Promethean Vision - I loved the balance for this AA in Halo 4 and think it should be brought up to Halo 5 as is making only changes based on what is necessary for the new games arsenal and gameplay.

Autosentry - I was never a big fan and it wasn't too powerful. I'm pretty indifferent as to whether it is brought back or not.

Active Camo, Auto sentry and thruster pack should go in my opinion.

Active camo should be a limited ability that you pick up like in Halo 3. The thruster pack was unneeded in my opinion, and the sentry was pretty weak and generally not needed.

Active Camo should go back to powerup status and not be a recharging ability. Thruster Pack could be replaced by being able to dive; by pressing the sprint button twice in rapid succession, you can dive out of the way a good distance at the cost of a large chunk of stamina. Also, it just makes sense. Wouldn't you dive out of the way of danger? Or if it's going to stay as an armour ability, bring the Dive ability back from Reach. OR just go back to the traditional way of avoiding danger and bunny hop away while praying that you don't die. XD

Autosentry is pretty useful. It's a good distraction and can lay down some additional fire. It's the opposite of the Hologram: it stays still and shoots instead of running and holding its fire.

Regeneration Field could also benefit from becoming a powerup instead of an armour ability. It could be a one-use item that you use before you eat it. Alternatively, it could be replaced by Reach's Drop Shield while maintaining its one-use aspect.

None of them, as they currently are. I agree with the idea floating around that calls for placing all AA's on the maps to be fought over. They could also use some major buffs to make them more useful since they would be map pickups. Finally, they shouldn't be able to be used indefinitely.

For instance, the jetpack would have a limited amount of fuel before it permanently runs out, like enough to get 5 or so good jetpack jumps in. Except now it can fly higher than before.

They need to rework the way AA's are implemented before they re-balance. Having them as items on the map would work better and allow the AAs to remain powerful and support the classic Halo game-play.

Abilities such as armour lock are fine.

Abilities such as armour lock that everyone spawns with are not fine.

I think Active Camo should leave and become a power up again. I just think it's childish. I mean it's one thing to have Active Camo, but also jamming the radar? Plus you can crouch and not be caught while you're jamming the radar? Get it outta hea!

That Yankee accent...

I'd like to see Thruster pack and Jet pack return. If hardlight shield does return I want it to be much more similar to armor lock, useful for a variety of things rather than only blocking bullets and poorly placed nades. I don't want regeneration field to return, I'd rather have the bubble shield back.

Yeah that's the way that MLG did it and I thought it worked pretty well. On asylum in MLG CTF it was actually pretty amazing how powerful the jet-pack in the hands of a skilled player was. Especially when he was the only one who had one.

IMO there should be NO armor abilities in halo AT ALL PERIOD!!!

AA's were part of the problem in halo reach and they were also part of the problem in Halo 4.

There's nothing competitive or skillful about popping up a shield to protect you from bullets or jet packing out of the way to survive or fly up high to snipe people way up in the air. It was just seriously un-cool. HOWEVER I believe sprint and the evade have their place in the halo multiplayer experience, just none of the others at all whatsoever.

I personally enjoyed Active Camo in Reach. Although i know alot of people did not enjoy it or just didnt use it, like evry other ability, it was useless in the hands of the incompetent and amazing in the hands of the skilled. (no hate, only love)

The radar jamming in Halo 4 eliminated AC as a good stealth ability IMO. You could at least move in Reach without being picked up on radar due to the red dots. The blue dot radar jamming was really, really useless.

My tactics in Reach for AC were almost unbeatable, and everyone wanted me to teach them how to use it after our fights. Seeings as how they apparently arent including AA's into 5 however, this is rather moot :P

AAs aren't returning in Halo 5; thank god. I as well as others have always hated AAs. I can't wait to see all the butthurt comments from all the noobs that liked them.

Where have you seen any proof of this? I thought there was going to be AA's because of the jetpack seen in one trailer of master chief using one to go through space or something.

I agree with NO AA's. Halo is not halo with sprint and AA's. It's just a sci-fi version of CoD. Yay! Halo 3 was the last Halo that actually felt like Halo. Reach was bad, but compared to 4, Reach was better imo.

How about none of these. They all ruin gameplay and should not make the cut. Add that to your poll, only fair

Apparently Frank O'Connor has spoken about this at E3 and the Armor Abilities are going away, but there will be more Spartan abilities, such as highjacking, skyjacking, assassinations, etc.

I am all about change and adaptation, however, the true Halo format did not include AA. Halo CE and Halo 2 were great games without them and they were also fast paced without the use of a toggled sprint. Halo 3 was good for a little while, but it got old quickly, especially with the equipment pick ups such as, the bubble shield, regenerator and the power drain. In my opinion, those 3 items destroyed Halo 3, but ultimately Halo altogether. Even though Frank O'Conner announced that AA are going away, and I certainly agree, I had to add my opinion in this topic.
