Will the Flood return in Halo 5?

Well it is not unlikely the flood will there are multiple forerunner research stations containing flood specimens and the flood originated from one of the Magellanic clouds (nearby galaxies) which are outside of the Halo array's range.

Although I am not particularly fond of fighting the flood they are a welcomed enemy to return the Halo universe.

343i isn't done with the flood yet. They still have a LOT they can do with them have you even read their backstory?

I mean the whole name of the game is based on a weapon that kills the food source for this species.

As much as I like the flood as an enemy faction I feel that bringing them back would ruin the whole point of the Halo trilogy. If they came back, that would mean the Chief spent three games accomplishing nothing. It'd mean he didn't kill the Flood, he didn't kill the Covenant, it'd mean he didn't kill the Sentinels, it'd mean Johnson died in vain, and it'd mean you never avenged Captain Keyes. I mean, coming back from the dead is fine with Bowser but for any game with a focus on it's storyline...no, just no.

I mean, it only took three games for Doomguy to defeat the forces of Hell (including Doom 64) and it took only one game for Bayonetta to kill God. Why should it take six games for Chief to destroy the Flood? I mean, they're harsh but they're no demons and they're definitely not God.

They did not say they killed the flood in Halo 3, just stopped it. I also feel that the flood did not show its true potential.

I want the flood to be ridiculously dangerous in this. Like 5 infection forms can neutralize 3 spec-ops teams. They are also smarter and are more tactical and hide for cover more often. But they are also more reckless with weapons at moments and would even do stuff like fire a rocket launcher at a grunt 5 feet away. The carriers will have ~20 parasites and there will be like 5-8 in each room. They now can infect Unggoy too! Just imagine the sheer amounts of flood them. If they make soldier groups have 6 marines. And flood can infect them in real time. And there is already hundreds of dead bodies that can be infected allready. It would be badass.

Now that will be a challenge for Prometheans.

let us not forget that if we are fighting on a halo each halo has a Flood containment facility and that dose make it very possible to have the flood as a enemy in halo 5. especially considering have the events of the first halo game when down.

The flood should still be in Halo 5. As much as fighting the Covenant is fun and the Prometheans tedious, having the flood there would keep the combat from just being about 1 enemy.

Plus, we have yet to see the Covenant, the Prometheans and the Flood all fight at the same time. I'd love to see that.

Not to mention a Flood Infection Form was spotted on the vacant Spirit of Fire in Halo: Escalation (set after Halo 4).

I would rather get paper cuts in unmentionable places than deal with the Flood again. I have stated multiple times that in my opinion the Flood never should have continued after Halo CE.

I seriously hope they don't ever bring that crap back into the game as, for me at least, it made playing the game a chore. It wasn't enjoyable in the slightest.

However I also realize that it is only my opinion which means absolutely nothing outside of my own thoughts. They probably will bring them back as a fan service (terrible reason). That right there would be a game breaker for me. If they are around again then I definitely wont be purchasing any of the future games.

I personally do think that the Flood should come back and are now able to "infect" the weapons they pick up and give it a sorta "painted" look to it rather than just skins on the weapons, it'll look much better if we get to see the flood form start to corrupt the weapons we've been able to use over the years for their survival. Shun 'Kanamee, I do agree with you but we don't want to make it too hard for those who are possibly just joining the Halo Community and can only get their hands on Halo 5: Guardians when it comes out. If they can only get Halo 5 and not the previous games before hand, and they get to the Flood missions, what use is it to make something too hard for them and make them leave the community?
