Possible video game crash of 2014/15

On 1972, A game by the name of Pong came out. It became a massive success by the name of Pong was released. It was simple, new, and addicting. It became a smash hit and other people wanted to cash in. So they made their own Pong reimaginings, or identical clones. The market became over saturated by clone after clone of pong. People got sick of it and stopped buying them. Starting the Video Game Crash of 1977.

The crash was quickly quelled by the release of the Atari 2600. It was a new, simple, and innovative console that had imaginative games. Soon some developers of the original games wanted to make there own company and be independent. They formed Activision who actually made good games at one point.  Other people thought they could make there own game company and make Atari games. So they did, but only the minority could actually make a good game. The rest over saturated the Atari and Atari decided to make a good game for themselves. They got rights from Namco and made Pac-Man. It sold more copies than Atari's sold! Surprisingly, the game was horrendous and became a massive flop. Atari tried again and took rights from Steven Spielberg. They made E.T. You guys should understand that and I will go on to something else.

Action 52 was bad enough to be a crash causer in my books, but it was not at the right position of time.

On 2007 CoD Modern Warfare came out. It was a new, simple, and fast game that revolutionized multiplayer. It did not live up to Halo 3's or TF2's divine standards but it was damn good. The next year another CoD home run came out: World at War. But it was not as good as CoD 4. Then came out MW2 which was meh, then Black Ops which was meh, then came out the turning point. Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3, this game was just a skin of Black Ops and MW2, but it was made easier for the newly joining 8 year old "Squeakers" It became an infamous meme and people then started associating "1337" "MLG" and "N0$(0P3$" with them. They bought every next game no matter what and passionate games like Halo and Crysis saw this. Thus they made Halo 4 which was not like halo at all and Crysis 2 which is not like Crysis at all. Soon every first person shooter on the market started to cash in and be like CoD's rapid kill streak competitive "battles". You can see where I am going hopefully.

CoD is over saturating the Market and is taking the passion and fun out of games. It is a money sucking vampire that the public lets it drain them to nothing. It is probably going to start another crash.

It isn't going to happen.

The industry was so small back then and the only thing that crashed was Atari

The industry is HUGE HUGE HUGE now. I mean you did not even mention the hundreds of indie games that come out each day? Did you mention the 12+ Consoles/Micro Consoles on the market? Did you mention how good steam, desura, GoG, and other PC markets are doing?

There is going to be no video game crash. There never will be. The gaming industry is big enough to support itself and isn't in a fragile state like before.

What could happen is the crash of certain genres of games(like the Rhythm music genre back in 2009-2011, Rock Band, Guitar Hero, etc) but even after that Rhythm Games still do well.

Thanks for the point I was only thinking about FPSs xD But still, most kids are kind of forced to play cod since for example a kid like Mario but the other kids beat him up because he hates CoD. It makes him feel like he needs it or he will be left behind. Either way I like FPSs and do not want a majority of the games to be cod-ish :C
