Information for anyone wishing to attend the 'Staff versus Members' Community Event

Halo 4, 3pm CST (9pm GMT)

It's now less than 24 hours until the star of our inaugural Community Event, and we've had a few questions about exactly how we'll be organising lobbies. Firstly, please note that in order to take part in this event, you must be a registered of 343industries.org Community Forum: if you want to come along and take part but don't have an account, registration is fast and free and can be done here. The event will be taking place on Halo 4, and although we've tried to keep requirements to a minimum in order to ensure as many people as possible get a chance to take part, you will need the Forge Island DLC in order to take part: if you don't already have it, you can download it here for free.

Once you have an account, a copy of Halo 4 and the necessary DLC, you're all set to join our lobby! Please note that as the lobby will be set to invite-only, you'll need to send a message to the RedStarRocket91 or tomfool13 gamertag in order to be able to join: when sending this message, please remember to include the name of your site account if it differs from your gamertag, as we will need to confirm the existence of your account. This also ensures that we have a full list of members who participated in order to hand out site awards: everyone who attends will not only receive the usual 'Playdate' and 'Staff vs Members Playdate' awards, but also the 'BCAM Playdate' award.

Please note that in the case of extremely high attendance, the Event may be split into two lobbies in order to accommodate as many members as possible: in this scenario, if the gamertag you have contacted is hosting a full lobby, you may be asked to contact the other host.

Once you've received an invite to the lobby, congratulations! All you need to do is plug in your microphone, pick up your Battle Rifle and stick it to the staff. We'll be taking short breaks of around 5 minutes between each game, so feel free to use this time to restock snacks, send texts or just get a breath of fresh air. We'll also be using this time to reply to any requests for invites received mid-game, so don't worry if it takes a few minutes to get a reply. If for some reason you're disconnected from the lobby, we'll also send out another invitation at this time.

Remember, any requests to join the lobby must be sent to either the RedStarRocket91 or tomfool13 gamertag via Xbox LIVE: PMs on the site, requests in the shoutbox, or replies to this thread may not be read until after the playdate has finished.

Until then, if you have any questions, concerns, or just want to trash-talk the other team before the lobby opens, feel free to do so here!

I'll be there, I just gotta switch the time to EST.... <_<

Edit: For those of you on the East coast of the US, it'll be at 5:00 P.M.

Which also means there's an eighty percent chance I'll miss this one. :cray:

Central time is only an hour behind the Event should start at 4 if that helps your chances at all Boss.

By the way if you guys are still going after 4 hours I'll definitely be in there.

The event seemed to have a good turn out. I arrived late and enjoyed my time playing with the staff and members.

As a side note, though I did not openly comment on what was being said during the event, I would hope in the future that members keep the tone of the events on a more positive and friendly atmosphere as I found some of the references and comments used distasteful. Where we do not typically use moderation during these types of events, and it is my hope we would never have to, please remember more colorful expressions are not uncommon, but distasteful comments and inferences are frowned upon. If you question whether or not something is appropriate to say, it probably is not.
