Map name - Granite

Granite is a small 2v2 slayer map (the spawns are set up for 4v4 max, but i wouldn't suggest it due to the size of the map). The gametypes available on Granite are Slayer, OddBall, and KOTH.

In the first screenshot, I think you made the two inclined blocks too steep. I see some other issues with the map that I can only confirm once I get to be in the map.

 

So I'll give this a download so I can get a closer look at it.

okay, i will take a look and see if i can spot anything that needs tweaking.

i will also put the map in my fileshare, it seems i forgot to do that part

First off, I must say that I enjoyed this map's uniqueness. Not a lot of maps are made this way. I especially loved the doorway made out of inclines.

 

I did see issues with the map though

 

- Path to blue: One of the paths to blue spawn involves about 10 jumps to get there. This is not good for the flow of the map. I suggest turning those into hard routes for smoother gameplay.

 

- Colors: You colored your map. But everything's green. I highly suggest changing the colors of the other keypoints of the map. This is for callouts and to help players identify the different areas of the map better.

 

- Windows: You placed windows in one of the structures. But there's nothing outside. If you're placing windows that players can look out of, make sure there's something to look at.

 

- Unnecessary piece: I suggest removing the buried cover piece under red spawn.

 

- Steepness: The paths to red spawn are way too steep. Keep inclines at a 30 degree angle or an angle that's close. You'll know that a piece is inclined correctly if players can jump up while walking up them.

 

- Too much cover: I think you made the two house-like structures too safe for players. The little holes they can shoot out of are too tight.

 

- No shields: I'd get those one-way shields out if I were you. I think a hole in that structure would be good for gameplay. It provides another entrance into that structure. If you were worried about it being too open, then you can always make the hole smaller.

 

- Teleporter: I suggest removing the Brace Large pieces in front of the receiver node at the bottom.

 

*I'd remove one of the tree stumps at the bottom. 4 is too many IMO

i have updated the map to fix the problems you pointed out.

 

changes:

-changed the rock pathway to blue, now you can run the whole thing smoothly.

-edited the colours for the hunts. there is now a blue hut, red hut, and green hut

-removed the windows looking out of the map. they were initially there to add some light into the uts but they didnt really make a difference 

-removed the cover under red spawn and moved the concussion riffle up to the pillar

-edited the ramp side of red hut. there is now a small balcony and 2 ramps down to the grass area.

-made the windows wider on both huts, blue hut now has a longer window too. it is much easier to get a grenade into the huts to flush players out

-removed the shields covering red hut window

-removed the the 2 large brace objects. added a rock for some cover

-removed the tallest tree out of the 4 in the middle

*- edited spawn times and ammo available for the sniper riffle, shotgun, concussion riffle, and needlers

Good update. The map has improved greatly from its initial version. I can't give you full feedback right now because I'm pretty busy. College stuff.

 

Just add me on XBL so I can take a look at the map with you in it. 

 

That's also a more effective way of giving feedback.

Not necessarily. I've seen a lot of small and simple maps out there that weren't very good maps. One of them was an old map of mine.

 

Not saying this map is bad though. Just corrected you. :)

if only that was true. a lot of my old reach maps were small and simple, but they were mediocre. thanks for the comment though, its nice to know my map creations are good and not sucky

 

 

Awesome little map, I especially like the Jungle feel with the sunken-bridge, it's a really nice touch. Good job :yay:
