My friend thinks the Unsc are evil. What's your opinion on this?

i could understand why he thinks that, but i hope to clear up some of this confusion

there have been quite a few rumors regarding the next halo installment and what its plot will revolve around. One of the largest rumors has been that chief has gone rogue and the UNSC will now be an enemy to him. Even if Chief had to fight the UNSC, he would technically be the "bad guy" considering that he was the one who went rogue.

Another reason for this statement might be because of the spartan program. Dr Halsey was arrested for "kidnapping" children for the spartan program and the intentions of the spartan program may conflict with the morals of some people. To clear this one up, the UNSC was not responsible for the spartan program, it was ONI. OnI and the UNSC are separate branches, but both are involved with human military efforts

i can't think of any other reasons why the UNSC may be "bad", so i hope this helped

He believes the UNSC are evil due to Palmer and Del Rio.He thinks sense Rio didn't want to help Chief and wanted to shutdown Cortana that the entire UNSC are evil.

First of all since not sense, major pet peeve. ok

You've got to look at it collectively not just one person. The entire reason they're even in space out there is to keep the family at home safe, and that's not evil at all.

Also MC would've said shutdown the glitchy/rampant Ai as well if it wouldn't have been Cortana.

In a sense, the UNSC is evil. They went on to Reach just to destroy it with pollution just like humans did on Earth. But on the other hand, they are just protecting humanity from and evil race of aliens.

It's called colonization, and the covenant glassed almost every human colony

Your friend is right and wrong: THIS EXPLAINS IT VERY DEEPLY.

The UNSC means well in the way they act, but (as Dr. Halsey said) they act like children in a sandbox at play. What this means is they think they are bigger than the universe and completely disregard the obvious fact that their is more than just the covenant, and much worse. The didact and flood were some examples.

The irony I find from the forerunner saga is that the guild of Warrior-Servants so closely act as the UNSC did. The didact was one of these warrior-servants and he though he could conquer the flood without using Halo. He was very, very wrong and eventually he refused to listen to the truth when it was he could evidently see the reality of the situation. The UNSC is straight-forward in the same way. The use the same method over and over and over again even when it fails them.

EXAMPLE IN HALO 4 OF THE UNSC'S MISTAKES

In the Halo 4 Spartan Ops, Doctor Halsey was SUPREMELY CORRECT about everything she suspected. The UNSC hid information from her and yet asked her to research the artifact without even giving her a hint. Idiotically, this info was the only way Dr. Halsey would have identified the true purpose of the artifact and would open new data points for expanded research. She found her info from the enemy (Jul Mdama) and was arrested without proof that would suspect her to be a traitor. In order to do her job and do it properly, she had to hack Roland, and learned not only was the UNSC hiding the info on the artifact, but also info on the Librarian and that John survived. She had a right to be angry at the UNSC for this, they couldn't even tell her 117 was alive even though his debriefing was the only thing TOP SECRET about his survival. The UNSC would have never found the Janis key because they think too cautiously and idiotically to find the true key to humanity's survival and evolution. And then, Sarah Palmer tries to execute Dr. Halsey, branding her a traitor without valid proof. Dr. Halsey may have communicated with Jul, BUT she shared no info to him and was offer research from the advanced Covenant itself. It was a research op that assigned Halsey to Infinity and she was arrested for doing her job.

Dr. Halsey had never liked the UNSC, and I firmly agree with everything she says. Dr. Halsey's genes are actually from the Librarian forerunner who was the only forerunner who sought to sustain life and defeat the flood. I'm hoping we learn more about this in halo 5. I want others to kno that Dr. Halsey is the good guy in spartan ops (except for the revenge at the end). She is right to hate the UNSC and is right in what she does. There is much more proof in the novels as well and if you research the librarian, you'll find many similarities between he and Halsey. I believe the Chief will defend Halsey if the UNSC tries to kill her, but only once he learns her reasons, because John shares much of Halsey's views as well even if chief doesn't kno it yet.

EXTRA: I am wondering if chief might fight Palmer in H5 to defend Halsey. Might be interesting to see spartan-leader chief fighting his replacement, but I highly doubt this would even happen
