So, the year is 2552, mere weeks after the destruction or Reach and the Unyielding Heirophant, a Covenant fleet of fifteen ships launched an attack on Earth. As the Prophet of Regret's assault carrier launched a full assault on the city of New Mombassa, the UNSC Home Fleet counteracted in minutes. The RP begins after the initial waves hit the city. At a certain point, the carrier will jump and the second half- the part you play in ODST will begin.

Jacob departed off the UH-144 Falcon. He looked around, the command centre was a shambles. The most recent Covenant attack had utterly wiped out the defenses by the surviving marines. The fact that they managed to down a Scarab on one of the streets was a miracle. Of course, only one of the original four Cobras were left standing, and all the Scorpions. He hefted his SAW, crossing it on his back like his Shotgun.

"Everyone, gather round. Clearly, this outpost is worse than the reports mentioned. I need fire teams covering the subway exit and street as well as one protecting the Cobra. We have five or six boatloads of troops inbound down here to reinforce our current position. In two hours, we will begin hit and run attacks In the city and help clear a path to Regret's carrier for the Master Chief."

He noticed a stir of activity immediately, it was clear there had no been no proper leadership here for some time. Though there was a few marines too shell shocked to fight. They were immediately obvious, and noted down to be evaced on the next Pelican. Speaking if pelicans, he saw the first ones now, arriving through the deserted skyline.

Ivan stood behind his commanding officer, Jacob, and looked around. The city wasn't that razed, at least the skyscrapers weren't. Otherwise the streets and homes were all screwed up. Cars were destroyed, and windows were shattered. There were some dead people, and fire was spreading slowly to other buildings. Ivan holstered his DMR on his back and yanked out his magnum. Instead of following the other marines, the Russian walked in front of Jacob and looked at him. It was strange having a rational leader.

"Sir, I'm going to do what I do and get us some information. My HUD picked up a trail of microscopic plasma shards and I'm going to follow that, see what I pick up. Be back ASAP." Ivan told Jacob and then turned around. He also set his visor to follow the shards. Recon and secrecy was what Ivan did, and he would gladly do his job that nobody else could do then do what the other soldiers did. While following the trail, Ivan turned his radio on. Communication would be nice. He could also probably tap into Covenant networks, and since he did linguistics, he could understand.

Scott Haskell - Earth Orbit

"Everything's reading green across the board." Scott said into his flight helmet, after performing his pre-combat checks on his GA-TL1 Longsword.

"Roger that Eagle 2-4. you are cleared for decent into Earth orbit."

Scott gently eased the nose of the fighter toward the planet's surface, and began entering the atmosphere.

The first pelican landed, and out of it jumped Corpral Alexander Cooper, the ODST. He rested his DMR on the ground and helped some of the wounded and shocked marines board the Pelican, once that was done he picked his DMR back up and walked into the remains of the command centre where Captain Jacob was.

Ivan followed the path of the shards and came to a shocking sight. There were about five battalions of troops marching along the streets towards the command centre, and though now as numerous, there were wraiths and ghosts and banshees escorting the infantry. The Russian dashed to behind a building, and proceeded to climb up its wall. Atop the roof, Ivan could now see that forces clearly and frowned. There were so many! Well, he had to keep cool.

"Captain Jacob, this is Ivan. On my Recon, I found quite an abundance of Covenant forces. I'd say about 200 infantry max, 15 wraiths, 30 ghosts, and 40 banshees. I think they want full control of this sector, and I mean supremacy in every way. Wait... oh ****!" Ivan cursed as he watched a beam of red, cyan, and purple descend down from the heavens. The moment the beam passed the horizon, there was a blinding flash of light and a shock wave, which sent the Recon Scout rocketing off the roof and into a wall. However the wall didn't catch him completely, and he fell on the ground with a thud.

"ODST Trooper 453 Reporting for duty, anything you need help with?" Before the Captain could answer, a Marine shouted "WOAHWOAHWOAH! CAPTAIN WE'VE GOT TROUBLE!". Alex walked over to the Marine to see what he wanted. "Radar shows hundreds of covies heading towards us!" He said. Captain Jacob walked over to take a look. "Do we have enough men and firepower to hold them off, Captain? Or should we just evacuate?" Alex asked. Alex and the Marine looked at the Captain who looked in deep thought.

Scott trained his MG's cross-hair over the Banshee he was tailing. He gave the trigger a quick pull, and the .50 caliber Dum-dum rounds tore into it. The plasma cells overloaded and blew apart, sending scrap metal streaking across the sky.

"This is Eagle 2-4, Kill confirmed. Sector Bravo-6 is clear."

"Roger that 2-4, we're transferring you to ground support. A Scout named Corporal Barishnykov will direct you. Transferring channels now."

A short silence enveloped the cockpit.

"Man... CAS? Guess I won't be padding my kill count today..."

His radio gave a short chirp, confirming his radio had been connected.

"Hello? Corporal Bar.... Barish- Ba-... Corporal, This is Eagle 2-4 standing by for close air support. I've got bombs and bullets that need a new home."

Ivan felt his radio twitch. It was hopefully air support. He could hear what they were saying. After dusting off the rubble, the Russian stood up and talked into his radio. Some of these people really had no respect for names. And the military was especially one of them.

"You idiot, it is Barish-knee-kov for the pronunciation. Get it right next time. Anyway, there are about 200 infantry max, 15 wraiths, 30 ghosts, and 39 banshees. Also, all the ground vehicles and forces have an energy shield around them. By the looks of my HUD, it is plasma. So we need a SHIVA class nuke to take it down, however I doubt to standard pilots carry those. If you can, destroy their control of the skies. We don't need the blitzkrieg tactic being used by the Covenant." Ivan said. Then there was that same colored beam descending down from the sky, and he spoke up.

"Last time that beam hit I was blown against a wall and some buildings flew a few kilometres away. You may want to watch-" before he could finish, Ivan was chucked like a baseball into the same wall as before, and hit the ground again.

"Well, if you aren't knocked out of the sky, destroy the banshees." Ivan coughed into his microphone.

Scott just blinked at the verbal abuse he received.

"I could easily drop these bombs in the wrong place, pal..." Scott thought. He banked his fighter and circled over Ivan's sector.

"Establishing Air superiority. If you can get that shield down, I'll thin out the ground forces."

Three Banshees streaked toward Scott's sector in formation. Scott grinned underneath his oxygen mask.

"Time to play..."

Orange, you weren't accepted. Disregard his post.

Jacob heard the incoming radio chatter. This was not good. He ordered the Cobra into position covering the street. The Pelican would hide behind the building, giving support fire for the LongSwords on the way. (Pelican Gunship with side turrets) he then ordered snipers into the main control centre, covering he courtyard. The remaining personnel were assigned to the Cobra or rockets. If the artillery could be maintained, the threat of Wraiths was null.

(Also orange, you have 2 strikes. One more and you can't post at all in this RP. The first strike was posting when you weren't accepted, and the second was controlling

BaconShelf's character. I don't want to see you earn another strike))

"Scott, I'll help you. But remember, I'm a Recon Agent. This isn't my thing. One flaw in the energy shield, as that only organic matter, besides Covenant vehicles, can enter the shield. The generator is in the middle, and I have to get into it. Of course, I'll find a way. Keep me posted on the progress of air superiority, and if you are good at remembering numbers tell me how many you have destroyed every 5 minutes. Ivan out." Ivan said as he stood up and hit behind a pillar. The brutes were huge up close, and the Elites seemed even taller. However this didn't bother him, and he activated his active camouflage armor upgrade. He watched as his body disappeared, and then slowly moved into the shield. He was amongst Covenant forces, and started sweating but didn't panic. There was a cylinder shaped object with energy pulsing out of it and then forming the shield. It was probably the generator, so Ivan walked up to it and chucked a plasma grenade on it. Then he silently jumped out of the shield, the Covenant unaware of his once being there. The grenade exploded and the shield went down. Covenant started going crazy and firing orders at each other.

"This is Ivan, shield's down. Fire away." Ivan said happily to Scott.

Scott had managed to take out two of the three Banshees that he engaged, but the last one had slipped him up, and was now on his tail. His radio crackled, and Ivan's voice sounded in his helmet.

"This is Ivan, shield's down. Fire away."

Scott rolled his Longsword hard toward the kill-zone, and dove down, the Banshee right on his tail.

"Get ready for the fire works in three..... two......one.... Bombs Away!"

Scott punched a switch on his control panel, and dropped eight Mark 208 550 lbs. bombs onto the covenant forces. He pulled up hard to avoid slamming into the side of a building, which the Banshee tailing him wasn't quick enough to do.

"Ivan, report."

Ivan was tossed through one wall of the building and ended up on the other side. This time the rubble was heavy and he struggled to get out. When he was finally out, about 1/2 of the forces were gone, and Ivan smiled. His radio chirped and he responded.

"Well, I was chucked into a building and out the other way but I'm fine. Great job. 1/2 of them are devastated. Thanks for the assistan- Scott watch out! EJECT!" Ivan watched helplessly as the familiar plasma ball that was fired from wraiths rocketed at Scott really fast. Now unless a miracle happened and Scott managed to dodge it, that ball of plasma would strike Scott's plane and send him crashing.

((Jiraelhanae forces were not in the city at the time of Regrets carrier. They arrived after, when Truth's fleet came to mop up just after the Slipspace jump; the Brutes subsequently killed all Sangheili in the city.))

The first Wraith rounded the corner. Then another, immediately, their plasma cannons suppressed the troops. One more tank entered the confines of the street.

"Artillery 1, Fireteam Echo, open fire!" Shouted Jacob over the radio. A supersonic blast filled the air, shattering windows in the immediate vicinity. The piercing shot punched through all three armoured vehicles, blocking the street temporarily and giving the Cobra enough time to reload.

"Snipers, do not engage until you can get a clear shot on the Alligators, marines, concentrate fire on the Grunts. Protect the Cobra at all costs. Grenadiers, I need sticky detonators and grenades primed for the first waves of ghosts!" In the temporary ceasefire, the camp hurried to mine the street, set up overlooks and prepare cover.

"Recon and Air Support, what is the situation looking like on the street. How long do we have?"

He then realised after shutting the radio off the situation in the air. He ordered several Snipers to target the banshees. The AM rounds would make short work of the craft. After a few seconds, the steady crack of rifles filled the air.

"Captain Jacob! Good to hear from you," Ivan turned his focus away from Scott's plane,"Well, I took down the energy shield and Airman Scott of Eagle 2-4 thinned them out, but there are still a LOT more. Even though I can only see 1/2 of the forces that were originally there before the bomb, we should know by now that there are reserve forces bound to be coming. But for the forces we have to deal with now, I'd say you have 3 minutes before the Covenant forgets about using waves and converges on you from all directions. What are my further orders, sir?" Ivan responded and then asked. Hopefully he could help, because if they loose the Cobra then that would be a problem.

The Russian looked around at the buildings, and sighed. So much pointless death.

Scott flipped on his radio.

"Captain, this is Eagle 2-4. I don't have any bombs left, but I can still make a few strafing runs if you need them. I'll circle and keep the skies clear until you need me. Eagle 2-4 out."

Scott checked his fuel reserves, another few hours of flight before he'd have to refuel...

((First-previous posts are ignored. Do not character control. You can post now, but your previous ones are ignored. For things like that, use the OOC thread.))

Well, the male cow manure had hit the fan. Luckily, the courtyard was only open to two entrances from ground; one street, heavily covered now and a subway system running underground to Old Mombassa and subsequently, refugee centres. He tried for reports on reinforcements, only to get word that the Covenant were deploying Scarabs, one of which had shot down several teams of ODST's, including the oh-so-needed Master Chief. Satisfied that the banshees in the vicinity were neutralised, he then made his way underground, to where several 'Hellbringers' were located. There were several gunning teams here, too, SAW's, HMG's, even a Warthog had been posted after the engine was burnt out for suppressing. If anything got here, he was confident that the flamethrowers and machine guns would bring it out.

"Eagle 2-4, keep an eye out for any Phantoms and Spirits heading our way. We can handle those banshees for you and handle the ground ourselves, but we can't afford having dropships in the yard. Copy?"

"Well, sir, since you never answered my question, I'm just going to keep inv- AGH!" Ivan was cut off by the sharp pain in his back, but it wasn't an energy sword. More like a paralyzing spike. He fell to the ground, and looked up. A Sangheili Major loomed over him and laughed.

Well, great. I can't move, and this thing is going to do something, Ivan thought.

Then the elite stomped on Ivan's face, and he blacked out.

Ivan woke up in a strange, dark room. There was a Sangheili sitting in the corner, and looked bored. The Russian thought some coversation would brighten up the Elite's day. Of course, there is always the chance that it would go berserk and beat Ivan.

"Hey! Alligator? You bored as hell?" Ivan asked. The Elite grunted and looked over to the prisoner.

"Yes. I hate working here."

"Why is that?"

"All I do is guard the prisoners."

"What is your rank?"

"Spec Ops. I'm supposed to be out there, doing stuff in the field. But the Shipmaster told me to stay here."

"That sucks. I'm a Recon Agent. I get some action, but most of the time it is just secrecy and observation."

"That's good, I guess."

"Wait! What if you are just going to tell your dinosaur buddies?"

"Look at my face. Do you really think I would tell them?"

"...No."

"Good. I'm sorry about what Vual did to you."

"Is he the idiot that shot me with a spike, stomped on my face, and dragged me here?"

"Yes."

Ivan sat in silence for the next few hours. Even though this Elite wanted to talk, he probably still hated him.

"Hmm. I would have to escape with you."

"You said your Spec Ops. Think of something."

The Elite managed to smile, and Ivan smiled as well. Maybe they could do it.

(Deh hellllll~?)

((Wait wut?))

[Duuuuuh...... huh?]

(Agreed)(allow me to ammend this)

"This is Command Sergeant Major Sorottou, reinforcements coming in hot! You miss us captain? Hope you left us some targets! I got a few army boys here with itchy trigger fingers," the radio blasted. The sky seemed filled with meteors as drop pods flew in from low orbit. Banshees arched persued by Longswords and the sky was filled with anti-aircraft from both sides. It looked like hell. For the men in the drop pods it was hell. They were falling at unearthly speeds but still the plasma and shrapnel filled the sky, and they knew many would not make it down alive. Even know the radio filled with the panicked reports of individual pods being shot down or landing off course. Kyro watched as a banshee arched under his "flight" path. "S***, where's the d***ed air support?!" A longsword flew through and blasted the banshee appart. As Kyro wondered to himself why there was only one fighter covering directly over the city, the shrapnel that was left of the banshee slammed into his pod spinning it off course. He cursed under his breath and began to check where he was about to crash down at. "Inside enemy lines, perfect..." He kicked the hatch in frustration...a bad move, something thudded inside the pod's body and the whole thing began to spin. Kyro felt like he was in some sort of old fashioned carnival ride. He felt an urgent need to hurl after about twenty spins, and the thing was picking up speed as it fell. Then he noticed the light on his hatch had been faintly flashing. He quickly pulled a manual chute release lever and felt the pod slam to a sudden stop as its parachute deployed, but had a sinking feeling as he heard the cable break and the pod began falling again. A few seconds later he heard a crash and was thrown against his restraints. He paused a moment and check himself, no major injuries. He recalled an old saying and murmured to himself, "Any landing you can walk away from, is a good one." Grinning, he pushed two buttons on the hatch and grabbed his assault rifle. The hatch blew off and he lunged out of the pod. Looking around, he had crash landed in a building and there was a scout tied up in some sort of Covenant devices on the other side of the room. "It's your lucky day bud!" he bellowed as he made his way over to untie the guy, but then he noticed the man was staring in horror across the room. Turning, he saw the hatch of his pod imbedded in the wall with a splash of blue blood on the wall around it and an elite's arm twitching from behind it. "Whoa, not his day eh," Kyro said as he stared in amazement.
