fzdw11
Gather round folks and let me set the story straight. What the OP is speaking of is known as the Competitive Skill Rank, or CSR. What the CSR is going to do is much what the True Skill 1-50 did, it will rank you with a number and try to match you up with other players of the same number, and will branch out accordingly, much like Halo 3. What this doesn't mean is that your SR-# rank will disappear. You will still keep your SR-#, and that will not change. All that will change is your CSR, and that will determine who you play with. For example, if you have a CSR 35, it will try to pair you with other 35's, then 34 - 36, then 33 - 37, etc, until you find a game. Yes, this number will rise and fall depending on how you do in your games, and will change. But your SR-# will remain the same. This ranking system is going to be unveiled in early 2013, though currently it will only be visible on Halo Waypoint. I'm hoping that enough people make reasonable requests that they make it visible within Halo 4 as well, but I'm not going to keep my hopes up on that. As for where this information came from, this came straight from BSAngel in a Halo Bulletin a few weeks back, so head on over to Waypoint to look at it, or find the news article here on this site with the information.

Hᴜᴍᴘsᴛʏʟᴇs
When it drops in early '13, loads of players are definitely going to request to implement it into the game; however, 343i has said that if they notice too much boosting/hacking/cheating to attain higher CSR ranks, then it'll never happen. Why do the bad people have to ruin it for all of us?

Lancer
The ranking system won't change. Maybe with 5 or 6, but it'll stay the same more than likely.
