Hey everyone. So, I have a friend who needs a Xbox 360. I'm thinking of getting him Halo 4 edition. I heard though, that special edition consoles have many problems/glitches. Now, I want my friend to have the best first Xbox 360 experience ever! So, you guys probably got the idea. I need advice and info.

I have never heard of Special edition consoles haveing issues...they are the same console just dressed differently. I have the Reach console and it is still going strong "knock on wood"...the reach and Halo 4 console are Xbox 360 Slims so the problems with the old xbox's are pretty much gone. If you abuse it than there will be problems, bu if you treat it well it will last.

The only issue I ever had with a special edition console was the Gears of War one that released with Gears 3. My one doesn't turn off properly. I turn it on ( use it, finish with it ), turn it off ( fans still go for like 5 minutes, the green light stays on ), So I turn it back 'on' even though it's on already and then turn it off again. It isn't a constant issue but it does occur a few times a week.

My Halo Reach was fine and my Resident Evil 5 was fine, i'll be getting the Halo 4 having sold those two consoles, I'll keep my Gears 3 one and I have great certainty that'll be fine.

Sometimes if you have a headset or controller still plugged in the fan will run for a bit while charging the device. But I did hear that the GoW3 console had some issues...

Hmm, interesting. Next time I go on it and it decides to play up, I'll un-plug my controller charge kit and see what happens. Also though, the Hard-drive freezes when I try and load my Gears 3, so I have to use the cloud storage... Halo 4 Xbox will be here soon anyway

Yeah my Reach console fan runs for a bit when my headset is plugged in. Thats weird about your hard drive though...are you sure it is not the game freezing while loading?

Hmm, It could possibly be the game freezing but since it works loading through the cloud storage I always thought it were the hard-drive?

Working through the cloud storage just means that the game doesnt have to spin up to access it I think...but idk...does the hard drive work for your other games?

Oh I see, yes it works alright for BF3 and even other Gears games, so I presume it's the game freezing?

Yeah thats what it sounds like to me...that or just the GoW3 file on your HD is corrupt...you could always delete the one on your HD and replace it with the one on cloud, I think that could work

The reason the fan and green light stays on is just because the system is cooling down guys. Many devices have this feature and its there for those who play extensive hours and it just cools down a hot system before completely turning off the green light and the fan. This happens with my system too and it works perfect everytime.
