Halo 4 LE No Longer Worth It!?

Hello all, not sure if anyone else has seen this yet, but it would appear that Standard Edition owners get access to 6 specializations early if they play by Nov. 30th, which means just about everyone...

http://www.examiner.com/article/all-halo-4-specializations-can-be-unlocked-by-playing-the-game-early

So my thing is...

I have a question as to why the LE is being torn apart? First LE owners were not given the Strider and Scanner helmets along with the Falcon Emblem, even though it comes with the War Games Map Pass. Secondly, when the LE was first announced it was listed as having an exclusive armor along with the exclusive armor skin, weapon skins, and avatar armor. Well that armor was revealed to be the Recruit armor, but now everyone has the Recruit armor as the default starting armor. And now Standard Edition owners get access to 6 specializations if they play by Nov. 30th? Essentially the in game bonuses of the LE have been reduced to the armor and weapon skin..that is it. I am not really sure if it is worth $100 of my dollars at this point. All of the incentives for getting it are being thrown out of the window. Seriously, why make the LE worthless now, sure it comes with some booklets and the FUD, but the FUD (Forward Unto Dawn) is only downloadable, might as well buy it on DVD/Blu-Ray and have it forever. I am very upset with the marketing, and how lame the LE has turned out to be.

What do you all think?

"Don't forget you also get a full 90 minute web series movie plus the War Games Map Packs: The Limited Edition includes access to nine maps - three future competitive multiplayer map packs, each including three locations, available for download post-launch on Xbox LIVE. You need to get your facts straight before you post articles. You also save money on these map packs at about 15% when you buy this bundle limited edition."

Yeah I understand we get the Forward Unto Dawn, but it is only downloadable, it is not in a disc form. So if something happens to your account or xbox, you lose the Forward Unto Dawn. Yes we also get the War Games Map Pass, however we do not get the Strider and Scanner helmet, or the Falcon Emblem that comes with the stand alone War Games Map Pass. Like I said, this is ridiculous, the LE is not really worth it anymore.

I think you are being very subjective over your opinion on this matter.

First of all, I personally value 9 (cheaper) game maps that are included in the LE post-launch over some skins / helmets (which will even eventually be purchasable in a future DLC(s)). Secondly, getting the full FUD is a nice offer, and while it is possible you'll lose it if something unfortunate would happen to your account, I'm certain it will be replaceable through contact support with 343i in some way (or not). And not to forget, you'll also get the UNSC Infinity Briefing Packet including MJOLNIR armor schematics, weapon information and a layout of the indoctrination of the SPARTAN-IVs.

So personally, I don't think LE is a waste of my money.

A briefing packet that will collect dust on my shelf. I can look up all of the stuff in the briefing packet the day after it comes out on the internet, you know it will be on the internet, and that will last longer than sitting on my shelf. And I realize LE onwers still get the War Games Map Pass, but they dont get the Strider and Scanner Helmet and Falcon Emblem. I prefer in game stuff over stuff that will collect dust. And If you read the LE description on Halo Waypoint, the FUD is only through streaming of Waypoint, so if your connection is slow, you can not stream. Too many issues personally.

Okay, so by your logic these two helmets and the emblem are worth more than FUD, 15% off of 3 different map packs, and the War games map pack? Not to mention that all that the two helmets and the emblem will probably be released for everyone at a later date (just like all of the pre-order bonuses) as DLC, and the artwork and such that are always released with special editions of Halo. Plus, if something happens to your account then either A] It was hacked, which Microsoft will be willing to hook you up in that case or B] you got permabanned and an account deletion. If something happens to your X-Box then you can simply replace your X-Box and redownload it, or recover your account on a friends X-Box and download it there.

So now my question is... what exactly are you complaining about?

Well i personally I prefer in game goodies over physical objects that will just collect dust. I got the LE from reach and just sold the statue. I enjoyed the in game goodies, and still use the Elite armor. When the LE was first announced it was stated that it came with the Recruit armor as well as an exclusive armor skin, weapon skin, and avatar armor. Now the Recruit armor has been taken away and given to everyone, no longer exclusive. I think it is a rip-off that the stand alone War Games Map Pass comes with the Strider and Scanner and Falson Emblem, yet the same map pass that comes with the LE doesnt come with those. That is unfair. When first announced, the LE was to have the 6 remaining Specializations once you hit SR-50, that was to be exclusive, yet now everyone who plays by Nov. 20th can have access to all 6 remaining specializations. Its not so much the fact that some of these are not a part of the LE anymore, but that 343i/M$ has taken them away and made the LE not so exclusive anymore. As I stated above, I can find the booklets and pamphlets online by Nov. 7th. AS far as FUD is concerned, you have to stream it from Halo Waypoint, so if you are having issues with your connection, you cant watch it. It would be much more worthwhile if it was a disc version.

The fact of the matter is, the exclusivity of the LE is not so much exclusive anymore, and the goodies arent really goodies anymore either

Limited Edition Contents

  • War Games Map Packs: The Limited Edition includes access to nine maps - three future competitive multiplayer map packs, each including three locations, available for download post-launch on Xbox LIVE.
  • Specializations: Receive early access to six Specializations, available at launch on Xbox LIVE, and use them, one at a time, to achieve higher ranks in your Spartan career. In addition to gaining access to new ranks, Specializations unlock new customization options.
  • The Special Edition of Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn, a 90-minute extended version of the live-action digital series which will take fans back to the terrifying beginning of the Human/Covenant war, when the Master Chief inspired a young cadet who would eventually become a leader aboard the UNSC's greatest vessel ever: the UNSC Infinity.

Digital content also included:

  • Bonus in-fiction bonus content expanding the characters and stories of Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn and their connections to Halo 4
  • Special Featurette: Bringing Gaming into Reality
  • Making of Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn

Bonus digital content through Xbox LIVE:

  • Unique in-game Spartan IV armor skin
Unique in-game weapon skin for the Assault Rifle
  • An exclusive in-game emblem
  • Xbox LIVE Avatar prop
Xbox LIVE Avatar Spartan IV armor set
  • The Limited Edition also contains the UNSC Infinity Briefing Packet which includes a Spartan armor customization schematic, an introduction to the massive ship UNSC Infinity, and insight into what it means to be one of humanity's finest warriors: The Spartan IVs.

Basically, it's similar to the Black Box for Reach. That's why it's only 99 bucks, rather than 150 like the HR Legendary Edition. The HR LE was 80 bucks and only came with a couple booklets and some artwork. All the HR LE came with that was "exclusive" was the Elite armor. Bascially, you are getting 9 new maps, an Avatar prop, an Avatar Armor set, an armor skin and an AR skin, and an exclusive emblem.

As for it being a "rip off" for the standalone wargames map pack to come with the two helmets, you pay 15% more for those two helmets. Plus, the helmets will probably be released with the Pre-Order DLC. That's an awful lot of money to spend on dressing your barbie doll.

The only reason I would have ever gone for the LE is because it saves money. The whole "exclusive" thing is a complete croc. The only people who care about it are those who like to lord over other people saying stuff like, "I got something you doooon't" which is really immature and not my style. Fact is, armor skins and helmets aren't going to make you better at the game, and everyone will forget about them about a week after the game is released. Just like they did with HR Legendary Edition and preorder bonuses. If THAT was what you wanted to spend 99 bucks on, I think you should rethink things a bit.

To me its the premise of everything...LE was announced with the Recruit armor as an exclusive and that was taken away. The early access to specializations was announced as exclusive to the LE and now that has been taken away. The regular standa lone War Games Pass inlcudes the two helmets and emblem, why not the LE which comes with the SAME War Games Pass? In essence those have been taken away. My thing is dont say youre going to give people something and than take them away...I understand I dont see my armor or skins, its all cosmetic, I get that, but the fact that we were supposed to get certain things and now they have been taken away is just not right. I personally find it immoral and a crude way of making more money down the road by releasing dlc packs.

What is being taken away exactly? As far as I know they haven't removed ANYTHING from LE, just made certain items non-exclusive (but cost more to gain without buying the LE). And the reason the helmets and emblem comes with the standalone war games pass and not the LE is because they want to make those who cannot afford the LE know that they aren't forgotten, which Bungie had a bad habit of not doing. If it means THAT much to you, you can sell your wargames pass and buy the normal pass to get the helmets, it's not that big of a deal.

And in my opinion, ALL exclusive items are an immoral and crude way of making more money. Thing is though, if Halo 4 doesn't make a crap ton of money, that means that Halo 5 is going to be a little bit worse.

Thats true...all in all exclusive items are indeed a way to make more money so I uderstand that. But like I said, its just the fact of promising certain items to be exclusive to the LE and than making them available to everyone...in essence lying. But I do understadn your point.

i think this is pretty stupid but i do agree with the director but i bought the LE because of being able to get special armor and skins and the forward unto dawn. but now that its on the skins and the FUD i think they should atleast make FUD a disc or lower the price or even add some more things in the LE. :turned:

actually you just could have it edited by him instead of deleting it

Actually, it was so incorporated into the post that it was nearly impossible to have edited it to exclude the swearing while still having the same point come across, which is why I deleted the post and asked him to write the same thing without swearing. Plus, he shouldn't have done it anyway because it against the rules.
