The maps don't seem that big to me.

Agreed...they seem smaller and more streamlined than Forge World from Reach. But it is nice to have several varities besides just Forge World. I still wish there was a snow map to make sidewinder on. Ravine and Impact look like the most fun and promising.

Now people will complain and say "ya that's why they are giving us 3." but in my opinion some of the nostalgia came out of forging between 2 different forge lands. Like from Alaska to Montana, or the Island to the Beach. So to me I wish they would have combined the three. But at the same time I understand that we do have 3 maps to choose to forge on so... Idk. I will have to wait and forge on them to know for sure. :) The only thing that somewhat bothers me is the fact that they look altered toward a specific map. They have things in place like they already had a map in mind started building it for you and then they said "oh wait this is suppose to be a forge world." If that makes sense. I guess just too many pre-placed structures.

I like the forge maps and the variety the different terrain gives. People have been saying that these maps are too small and the only map I feel like can agree with that on is The Ravine. However, that map in particular gives more of an open-world feel. I feel that the reason for there being three distinct forge worlds is not just scenery differences but the kinds of maps you would be building with the basic things these forge worlds give. The Ravine would play as more of an open-world Big Team Battle map, keep in mind you can build on, off and around the cliffs and even down into The Ravine itself so it really gives you that kind of base-to-base combat feel just from looking at it and thinking about what types of maps you'd most likely create on it.

Impact gives me more of an open-ended feeling, mostly because of the large open space in the middle of the asteroids that you can build in. You can build a central structure there, have it reach vertically and have several floors so to speak, or you can have that structure branch out to each asteroid and build even more there, so once again we have that kind of building material. Also, akin to The Ravine you can assume that building off of the sides of the asteroid is possible, which also gives for some more unique building. However you can pretty much do anything in general in that open space in the middle, and that makes this forge world by far the most giving in terms of forging and what kinds of maps you can build.

Erosion looks nice, it's the darker kind of feeling of the map that captures me the most. Of course you can play grifball in the court and build small 4v4 maps there, but those hills don't really seem like the best building structures. However once again we can build off of the edge and the side with our forge pieces, and that area is by far the largest and most open area in the map. Also, if there are no lighting effects in the forging inventory, that lower kind of cove structure down by the water really provides a darker shade for creepy infection maps and things like that. It does seem to be lighter near the cave walls but still this and the open space in Impact would give the some of the darkest areas to build in. I don't know if that's quite true for Impact though, seeing as some of the structures have interior lighting. Hopefully that's adjustable. :)

Anyhow, I feel like these maps won't be bad to forge on, we just have to get used to building on them before speculating in my opinion.

From what Ive seen, They've completely ruined forge. The maps themselves are extremely small and awkward. Not only is there no space, but now we have to build maps around these crappy looking structures. There is absolutly no room for any type of big team battle maps, and there going to be 1,000 space infection maps! The only thing we can use is the skybox! Everything else is going to be very hard to incorperate. And from what I've heard them say, they were most concerned with the players who dont really forge. Most of the noob forgers dont give a crap about the maps. But the pros do! It would only make sense to create worlds that would please all-time forgers! We only wanted a decently large set of maps with unique land formations. But instead, we were given 3 small maps that were already built for us! Maybe we dont want to include a gigatic moon base/Grifball court in our map. The Whole point of forge is to build it ourself! Im not saying that the maps are bad, Im just saying that they're not forgeworthy. These maps would be better off in the "War games" playlist. So if any 343 members read this, please consider my thoughts. I am not the only person who thinks this way. I've met with several groups of professional forgers who completely agree with me. Keep in mind that this is just our opinions and perhaps there is more information to come... But until we are proven wrong, we will stick with our statements.

they seem really small but I dont think they are that small they just seem like it

And there is not many maps that used much more than the space provided in forge world anyway.

I mean if you were to make a BTB map in reach that was bigger than the maps in H4 then it would just be too darn big it would take so long to find anyone

There is absolutly no room for vehicles in these maps. Ravine can only hold a warthog, and it looks like the vehicle pathways are bad. Also maps are not supposed to take up all of forge world! Forge world is big so that you can have a variety of different places to build.

I think they are small yes. But I do believe you could make a BTB map out of them if you try. People are still finding new ways to use the current forge world so I think we just need to try to make it awesome. And people will end up making it awesome. It's just another change that we will have to get use to and in my mind I think we will come to love it. :) As for the built in structures not so sure if I like that... but well see when the game comes out.

... The built in features would be cooler if the maps where bigger so you have an option iff the people could see them or not ... The maps are great to me maybe for one of the map packs come out with a huge forge map kinda like forge world but more jungle like ... Have a jungle area flat area ( terrain ) and then a place with the built in structures

I think that since a lot of maps in forge world took a small part in the sky (hello uncaged/the cage) and the rest of Forge world made the game slower because it had to load the whole world whenever someone played on it. but I do agree that the maps could bee more open, free of any structures like forge world

I totally agree, I felt exactly the same when I seen all three maps, ravines got the pre-built forerunner tower, erosions got the circular base and impact as the space station, it does seem like they are just unfinished map ideas more than totally blank spaces.

The forge map they'd showed briefly in impact looked mighty impressive though, I'm sure forgers will do like they always do and come up with inventive uses for the areas, even if they do look a little lacking in space.

I still think more maps will be created on ravine than the other 2 just because its brighter and I've heard the height is massive so can always build upwards.

The problem with Ravine is the palette - it has only UNSC structures, when the canvas is clearly a forerunner theme. The only forerunner object in the entire palette is the Artifact.

The problem with Erosion is that the canvas has no where to build a decent flat surface of natural terrain. Any flat surface will be perfectly flat blocks.

Impact is the best. And I saw one great map thus far on it, Breach, by BlaqCloud. It is a missile silo theme and it plays well for a first iteration forge work. Impact is the only canvas whose palette matches the theme of the canvas and has a large area (off terrain) to build in. But if you want terrain maps from Impact, good luck...

So has anyone played Ravine lately and noticed the birds. Well I believe that this is 343 industries a newest Easter Egg if you wanna call it that. The birds in fact aren't actually Birds at all if you look closely with flying alone zoom in on them and you'll see the the bird are actually dragons get you gotta take a closer look at them in the really need I mean it's something cool I guess

Goodmorning 343!!- I have been a Halo player since it was first released.I have been Forge-ing since sandbox came out. So basically ive been doing it along time lol.I belong to a community called "ICONIK GAMING" and Im the Forge Team Leader.Im finding that its very difficult, unless using the magnets,to line stuff up.In most cases the magnets help tremendously, but there are times where they wont work with what ur tryin to do,so I turn them off and its next to impossible to line them up.Also Ive actually sent in ideas to Bungie before in the past, but it would be very helpful to have more curved and/or circle shaped items.I was pretty disapointed when 4 came out and saw that the forge items were pretty much the same items Id been using for over 200 maps on halo Reach. One thing that I could always look forward to was the new forge inventory. It was just a little disapointing. Then there really isnt a huge selection of maps to build on,so anyways Ive bitched about enough I guess LOL.One more thing,Action Sack should have the options of SKEE-ball and the Hockey Rink that they had on Reach,oh and ROCKET RACE.Ok Im done.Have an awsome day!!!
