Before I just plop down 70 bucks for your game, Im gonna need some answersy

Look I love Halo, Im excited for Halo 4 to come out, but honestly, with Reach, there are some serious issues regarding the quitting/booting/banning system that I think need to be addressed if I am to buy this game.

Look, I get that quitting and team killers ruin games, but at the same time, nothing is more infuriating then being in a BTB game and in one way or another, accidentlally running over a teammate or blowing them up with a grenade or rocket in a hectic moment (let's be honest it happens to the best of us) and then getting booted for it and having to wait 10 minutes to re-enter.

Another thing that is annoying is when half of the people in a game will quit halfway through, and I'm stuck waiting in the game because if I quit, its a ten minute wait.

I guess what I'm saying is that we need a more sophisticated system this time around. One that recognizes accidents and doesn't allow some ******* to boot you because he jumped in front of your ghost. Maybe something where if you have any contact with an opposing player going on in the last ten or so seconds, if you happen to kill a teammate, oh well. (And while we're at it, hopefully it WILL be able to tell when someone is blatantly killing you to steal your sniper, and ALWAYS lets you boot them, that's equally annoying) And then if X% of players already quit from a game, then everyone else can also quit with no penalty. Those 2 things alone would've made me like Reach so much better, and if they aren't addressed in someway, I won't be buying Halo 4, so like the topic says, I'm gonna need some answers.

First off Pat, we are a community forum, but I personally understand your grips here. It affects all of us. The system literally punishes a player who has done nothing wrong or has been involved in an in game accidental team kill, that may very well be that team mates own fault. The game employs an auto ban system which has no legitimate criteria for applying bans. I say this with full awareness that players do deliberately betray for whatever reasons. In my personal opinion, any banning system that arbitrarily bans players when they are not guilty of any infraction is a complete failure. Auto bans on quitting are another issue that needs addressed as well.

Continuing to employ these types of bans show a complete lack of respect towards the fan that buy and play their game. To make matter worse, there is no accountability by the games producer or current custodian to appeal your ban.

I have not heard if Halo 4 will use the same system or criteria for applying bans, so I have no answer for you there.

First off, it's not our game. You're on the community forum, not the official 343i forum. If you're looking for that, you need to go to halo.xbox.com

And second off, you have a point there, of course, but only somewhat. I don't see it completely. At least not with the 10 minutes. I know you are talking about the 10 minutes quitter ban, but you don't get that ban from leaving just 1 little game.

So what i'm trying to say is i don't think you'll get that 10 minute ban just from accidental betrayals. If you get enough accidental betrayals to get that 10 minute quitter ban, you might want to overthink your game strategy and play a bit more cautious.

This system might not be perfect, but the reason you named isn't a valid one in my opinion.

That being said, welcome to the forum, enjoy your stay here :)

There is no quit ban now supposedly. Guitting will just not allow you to rank in ranked playlists and you wont gain any exp. You will not de-rank, but you just wont rank up when quitting. So multiple quits will mean that you have to win more to rank up. For social playlists when you quit you just wont earn exp. The new drop in/out system allows for less of a penalty when quitting from social matches. But as I stated when you quit from ranked games, you will not be able to rank for some time.

As far as the booting system is concerned, Frankie stated that booting will only be on certain gametypes such as slayer games. But objective games like CTF or oddball ec. there will be nt be a boot system like in Reach. It will take consecutive betrayals to be booted now, not just one.

I don't believed anyone touched on this yet, but you can now join games already playing. So if one person on a team quits, someone can join that game halfway through, but in a game where 3 people quit from one team will more likely get that player.

Can you show me an official link that states that Halo 4 will include a drop in out system? Honestly, that's the dumbest idea they could have made. Player connections directly affect the lag in the game. If people can join and quit as they see fit it's going to make the game connection cr@p itself much more frequently.

@Angel of Death D20: I will see if I can find the Halo Bulletin that mentions this. BS Angel, Frank O'Connor, and GI stated that there will indeed be a drop in/out system. Now it will not be for all gametypes. Only certain ones supposedly.

Already found it, and I said in the other thread...Dumbest Idea ever!

Ryu is correct, CoD, GoW, and even GoldenEye N64 back in the day had this and they havent had any issues with it. If your connection is fine than you wont have an issue. Also as Ryu stated, if there were any issues 343i would have found them by now. I am sure they have tried with both strong and weak connections to see how it affects other players. Also if they wish to change some things they can after Halo 4 launches.

Sorry but I have to disagree, they cannot get away from lag in games. Especially bad enough lag that it causes the game to cr@p itself. While it dose have to do with the servers, if someone has a really horrible connection or they way it's setup is going to cause lag, enough of it and a chain reaction will happen. I'm sorry if this offends or upsets some of you, but I had to do a research project about this in my data communications class, yes that class was a boring as it sounds.

I have the same concerns, but mostly only on the ban system.

The ban system in reach, was just garbage. It is literally just automated to see certain criteria, and set a ban for that.

I've seen lesser skilled players, who are not away from console or quitting get banned simply because they are bad, so it seems like they're away from console to the system. It needs to be much more accurate, and have different criteria in my opinion.

Couldn't agree with you more. The ban system desperately needs to be completely redone. Stricter on some things, and irrelvant on others. I for one say that deliberate stat padding with no intention to complete the objective is a ban-able offense.
